feat(plugins): add Sentry plugin backed by a sentry_mcp connector - #7912
Conversation
The sentry connector (app_install, org-scoped) already powers the automations flow. This adds the plugins-flow counterpart: a sentry_mcp connector and a first-party sentry plugin proxying to mcp.sentry.dev. Unlike notion_mcp, sentry_mcp cannot use a dynamic OAuth client against the MCP server: mcp.sentry.dev runs Cloudflare's workers-oauth-provider, whose token response carries no identity fields, so the url-less identity probe would fail on every connect. Instead the connector is a static OAuth client against sentry.io's own token endpoint, whose response includes the user object, and binds the token with the Sentry-Bearer scheme that mcp.sentry.dev accepts for direct upstream tokens.

mcp.sentry.dev issues tokens whose response carries no identity fields, which forced sentry_mcp onto a static sentry.io OAuth client with operator-provisioned credentials. The server does answer identity over MCP itself: execute_sentry_tool(whoami) returns the user's id, name and email as structured content. Teach probeIdentity a third source: an mcp identity variant that opens a short streamable-HTTP session (initialize, initialized, tools/call) and reads the JSONPaths from the tool result. sentry_mcp becomes a dynamic public client like notion_mcp, and the SENTRY_MCP_CLIENT_ID/SECRET env plumbing goes away. Verified against the live server end to end.

A client-id-metadata-document id must be an https URL the authorization server can fetch. A localhost API base can never satisfy that, so a CIMD server (mcp.sentry.dev) rejects local connects with invalid client_id. Register a client instead when the metadata URL is not https; deployed environments keep the CIMD path.
A connector's OAuth flow finishes in an external browser tab, so the list kept showing "Not connected" until the next navigation remounted it. The detail view already polls connectors.status; the list read from plugins.list, which never refetched. Refetch on window focus so the badge updates when the user returns from the browser.
…header, session close) Address review of the MCP identity probe: - Parse whole SSE events, not the last data: line — join multi-line data fields and select the JSON-RPC message whose id matches the request, so a split or multi-event body no longer breaks the parse. - Send MCP-Protocol-Version on every request after initialize, carrying the version the server negotiated, per the streamable-HTTP spec. - Terminate the MCP session with a best-effort DELETE once the probe is done instead of leaving it open. Test now feeds a multi-line SSE event plus a keep-alive comment and asserts the request sequence, protocol header, and identity mapping. Verified end to end against the live server.
Normalize id comparison (a server may echo the request id as a string) and, when no id matches, fall back only to an actual response message (one carrying result or error) rather than any interleaved server notification. The test now sends a leading notification the reader must skip before the real multi-line response.

…ents A server-initiated request can carry the same normalized id as our pending request without being a response, so gate the id match on isJsonRpcResponse too; a regression case sends such a request before the real one. Also strip the explanatory comments this branch added, per the repo's comment-free convention.

What
Adds the plugins-flow half of the Sentry story. The
sentryconnector (org-scopedapp_install) already powers the automations flow — webhook triggers, one installation per Sentry org. This PR adds:sentry_mcpconnector inconnectors.json: a dynamic public OAuth client againsthttps://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp(discovery + dynamic client registration + PKCE, same asnotion_mcp). No client id, no secret, nothing to provision.mcpidentity-probe variant in the connector framework: after the token exchange, probeIdentityopens a short streamable-HTTP MCP session (initialize→notifications/initialized→tools/call) and reads the identity JSONPaths from the tool's structured content. This is what makes a dynamic client viable for MCP servers that put no identity in their token response.plugins/sentry/first-party plugin (published assentry@1.0.0): proxies agents to Sentry's hosted MCP server, plus two skills (debug-with-sentry,find-in-sentry).auth: [{ type: "oauth2" }]on the existingPLUGIN_CATALOGsentry entry, matching linear/github.Why the framework change
mcp.sentry.devruns Cloudflare'sworkers-oauth-provider. Verified against the live server: its token response is exactly{access_token, token_type, expires_in, scope, refresh_token}— no identity fields — and it has no userinfo endpoint. The url-less identity probe (notion_mcp's pattern) would therefore fail every connect onaccount.id.The identity does exist over MCP:
execute_sentry_tool(name: "whoami")returns{user: {id, name, email}}as structured content. The new probe variant reads it:An earlier revision of this PR worked around the gap with a static sentry.io OAuth client (
Sentry-Bearerbinding,SENTRY_MCP_CLIENT_ID/SECRETenv vars); the MCP probe removes all of that operational surface.Validation
mcp.sentry.dev— registration issued a public client (token_endpoint_auth_method: "none"), PKCE code exchange succeeded, and the shippedprobeIdentitycode returned{account: {id: "5009252", label: "harshith@superset.sh"}, user: {id: "5009252", label: "Harshith"}}for a real token.find_organizationsand other tools work with the same token. One live-flow caveat baked into the config: the authorize request must send noscopeparameter (an explicit scope string makes Sentry's consent flow error out), hence"scopes": [].bun run check:plugins— all plugins valid and publishedpackages/trpcconnectors tests: 45 pass (new test asserts the MCP probe sequence and identity mapping); plugins router tests: 39 passpackages/shared: 1143 tests passturbo typecheckfor@superset/shared,@superset/trpc,@superset/apiBefore this ships
