Change

Part of #2439, its first step (no maintainer decision on it yet; happy to reshape or drop this if the approach is not wanted).

The Herdr desktop app runs its terminals on herdr-core (hc), not herdr's TUI server, so Ovis cannot see them today. OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core makes this PC's panes the app's terminals, taking option (a) of the issue: terminal view, status and alerts first.

How: instead of a second client behind every caller of server/herdr/client.ts, server/herdr-core/ answers herdr's socket API from hc, and the server points HERDR_SOCKET at it. No caller changes; only the attach command does.

  • connection.ts: one framed hc connect (hc picks its endpoint as any hc command does: HC_SESSION, HC_SOCKET, config), calls on channel 0 side by side, attach and event streams on their own channels with credit, reopened by the next call after it ends.
  • snapshot.ts: herdr's session snapshot from terminal.list and the app's herdr-app document. A space is a workspace, a tab a tab, each terminal block a pane (pane id = terminal address), in the app's order and names. A live terminal no tab holds gets its own tab under "Other terminals". Status and agent are the program's OSC 7501 report (error reads as done).
  • adapter.ts: ping, session.snapshot, pane.get, agent.get, pane.process_info and pane.read (text only) from hc. pane.send_text types the bytes over a short attach at the terminal's own grid. pane.send_keys types the keys a plain terminal can encode and hands the rest to terminal.keys, keeping their order. agent.prompt maps to terminal.send. events.subscribe acknowledges once hc's own stream is open, then sends status per subscribed pane and lifecycle frames for created/finished/removed/lost/restarted terminals and layout changes. hc's missed closes the subscription, so the collector reopens it and resyncs from a snapshot. Anything else (workspaces, tabs, splits, focus, worktrees, plugins) is refused as unsupported.
  • server/core/terminal-process.ts: on herdr-core the live terminal is hc attach <terminal> (no take-over: hc shares a terminal among its viewers).
  • server/conventions.test.ts: the adapter may name events.subscribe, since it answers the collector's subscription.

Limits, also in the guide: workspace/tab/split management stays with the app's window, pane.read has no colours, and the terminal takes the size of whoever typed in it last (hc's rule). Remote PCs keep running herdr's TUI server. Supporting hc on a remote PC would need the runtime choice in the remote bundle. That is a follow-up.

Validation

  • bun run typecheck, bun run build: pass.
  • bun test server/herdr-core server/conventions.test.ts server/catalog.conventions.test.ts server/terminal-process.test.ts server/terminal-mirror.test.ts server/bridge.test.ts scripts/changelog-fold.test.ts: all pass except bridge.test.ts "loopback relay > lets go of a server that reads nothing once its client leaves", which fails the same way on main on this Mac.
  • bun run check fast: generated types/themes, typecheck and build pass. The unit suite fails 12 files that fail identically on an untouched main checkout on this macOS host (browser lane, install-star, self-hosted-runner, letta, session-history WAL, usage-login-private, codex-processes, remote-entry, composer-framing, bridge). It found one failure from this change, catalog conventions (--takeover outside terminal-process.ts), which is fixed.
  • New unit tests: server/herdr-core/snapshot.test.ts (layout mapping, unplaced and finished terminals, malformed document, status roll-up, key encoding) and server/herdr-core/adapter.test.ts (a fake hc connect: snapshot over the socket, send_text grid and close, key order, refusals, event translation and missed, a line that ended).
  • Live, macOS, hc 0.1.14: an isolated HC_SESSION with a script reporting working → blocked → done produced the pane-status frames over Ovis's WebSocket. The terminal view attached through hc attach, and typing (including Korean) reached the program. Against the Herdr app's own core, the sidebar showed the app's space and tab names, and an omp pane showed its agent, status and chat.
  • Skipped: bun run check full (integration and browser), Linux and Windows.

…core

The Herdr desktop app runs its terminals on herdr-core (hc), not herdr's TUI server. With OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core, server/herdr-core/ answers herdr's socket API from hc through one framed `hc connect`, HERDR_SOCKET points at it, and the live terminal is `hc attach`. The app's spaces and tabs become workspaces and tabs; status comes from the agents' OSC 7501 reports.

Part of devswha#2439.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added an optional Herdr Core runtime that displays Herdr spaces and tabs, agent status and alerts, and live terminal sessions.
    • The runtime can be selected with OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core; set OVIS_HC_BIN to specify the hc executable location.
  • Documentation

    • Added guidance on configuring the Herdr Core runtime and using its terminal and workspace features.

This change adds a selectable herdr-core runtime. It connects to hc, maps terminal and layout data to Herdr snapshots, and serves the Herdr socket API. Server startup and shutdown manage the runtime, and terminal attachment uses hc attach.

Changes: Herdr Core Runtime

Layer / File(s) Summary
HC connection transport
server/herdr-core/connection.ts
Adds the hc connect transport, generation-1 handshake, framed messages, JSON-RPC calls, stream channels, timeouts, and connection error handling.
Terminal snapshot mapping
server/herdr-core/snapshot.ts, server/herdr-core/snapshot.test.ts
Maps live terminals and app layouts to Herdr workspaces, tabs, panes, status, process information, and key representations. Tests cover ordering, labels, statuses, layouts, and key conversion.
Herdr socket API adapter
server/herdr-core/adapter.ts, server/herdr-core/adapter.test.ts, server/conventions.test.ts
Serves supported Herdr requests and events over a Unix socket through HcConnection. Tests cover snapshot responses, terminal input, subscriptions, errors, and reconnection. The convention test excludes the adapter from its raw subscription scan.
Runtime selection and application integration
server/herdr-core/runtime.ts, server/index.ts, server/core/terminal-process.ts, docs/guide.md, changelog.d/herdr-core-runtime.md
Adds OVIS_RUNTIME and OVIS_HC_BIN selection, starts and stops the runtime with the server, and uses hc attach for herdr-core terminal sessions. The guide and changelog describe the runtime and configuration.

Explanation

The title names the main change: a herdr-core runtime, selected by OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core, that shows the Herdr desktop app's terminals. The changeset matches this: an hc-backed socket adapter, snapshot mapping of app spaces, tabs and terminals, and the hc attach path in terminal-process.ts. The conventional-commit prefix is accurate for a feature.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's two sections, Change and Validation. Change explains the problem (the Herdr app's terminals run on hc, which Ovis cannot see), the approach, the per-file behavior, and the limits. Validation lists the typecheck, build, targeted test and live macOS results, and notes the skipped checks (check full, Linux, Windows). It links the parent issue #2439 but not a maintainer-agreed decision, which the author states openly. The template asks to link the issue where a maintainer agreed to the feature; the author says none has agreed yet, so that gap is acknowledged rather than missing. The changelog entry is referenced in the diff but the description does not mention it, which is minor.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 30 functions across 9 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Merging 15a39ee, thank you @nahwan-kim! OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core (first step of #2439, approved by the maintainer) shows the Herdr app's terminals: a local socket adapter answers herdr's socket API from herdr-core (hc connect), and attach uses hc attach <id> without --takeover. With OVIS_RUNTIME unset nothing changes: no socket, no process, the herdr attach path byte-identical. Strict external review by the merge pass: no shell in hc commands, auth and watch-only gates unchanged, one connection per call, credit honoured, deterministic tests. The merge pass pushed 06773b2 on this branch for its findings: hc attach no longer runs herdr's attach preamble probes or gets HERDR_SOCKET_PATH (fail-first test, default path guarded); every start enforces the socket directory at 0700 and the socket at 0600 and refuses another user's directory; event lines are capped at 4 MiB (an oversized line returns bad_frame and closes the subscription); Linux and macOS only for now (no Windows named pipe yet; Windows fails clearly before creating state), as the guide says. It then pushed 999d5aa for CodeRabbit's three threads: an existing socket is probed and a live owner makes the adapter refuse to start (only a stale socket is removed); events that arrive before the subscribe acknowledgement are queued until it is written; the hello wait runs under the call's deadline and a stalled line is killed and reconnected. Each reproduced before its fix and has a regression test. check fast passes (9,191 tests). The contributor's 15a39ee then tiles split layouts (rows side by side, columns stacked, each terminal once) and keeps key order exact (typed runs and hc-encoded runs in sequence, one turn per pane; an attach close waits at most 10 s for hc's own close); re-reviewed with no regression of the fixes above. LOW noted: a same-user race window remains between the stale-socket probe and its removal (the 0700 owner-checked directory rules out other users). LOW also: the layout reader recurses without a depth cap (hc's own document, trusted in practice), and Escape is sent to hc as 'escape' (not verifiable here without hc).

Thank you @nahwan-kim, merged! This is a clean first step for #2439. Before merging, the merge pass pushed a few changes on your branch, so you know what landed:

  • hc attach no longer runs herdr's attach preamble probes or gets HERDR_SOCKET_PATH (with a test that the default herdr path is unchanged).
  • Every start enforces the socket directory at 0700 and the socket at 0600, and refuses another user's directory.
  • Event lines are capped at 4 MiB; an oversized line returns bad_frame and closes the subscription.
  • Linux and macOS only for now (no Windows named pipe yet); Windows fails clearly before creating state, and the guide says so.
  • For CodeRabbit's threads: a live socket is never unlinked (a second Ovis on the same state directory refuses to start), events that arrive before the subscribe acknowledgement wait for it, and the hello wait runs under the call's deadline and reconnects.
    Your 15a39ee (split tiling and key ordering) went in as is. Thanks again!

…inned hc 0.1.14 (#2445)

## Change

Follow-up to #2442 (part of #2439). The hc client in
`server/herdr-core/connection.ts` is only tested against a fake core
today, so a change in herdr-core's protocol would pass unnoticed. This
adds a test against a real hc, and a CI job that runs it.

- `server/herdr-core/live.test.ts` starts hc in a core of its own: a
session name plus state, config and runtime folders in a `mkdtemp`
folder, and `HC_SOCKET` inside it, so neither the user's core nor the
Herdr app can see it. Through `HcConnection` it checks: framed `hello`
(generation 1); `events.subscribe`; `terminal.run`; attach and first
paint; the attach's grid becoming the terminal's size; a RESIZE becoming
a `size` event and the new size; typed bytes reaching the program; the
program's OSC 7501 `working`/`done` arriving as `status` events;
`terminal.kill`/`terminal.rm` arriving as `finished`/`removed`. Every
wait is on that event, bounded at 5 s. It runs only where
`OVIS_TEST_HC_BIN` names an hc, so `bun run check fast` skips it.
- The test spawns `hc connect` with that core's env passed explicitly.
`Bun.spawn` without `env:` uses the env Bun started with, not later
writes to `process.env`, so an hc started that way would reach the
user's default session. Inherited `HC_*` variables are dropped, so a
test run from inside one of the user's hc terminals still gets its own
core.
- Cleanup stops only a core this test started, with its isolated env
(never with a half-built one), then waits up to 5 s for that core's
processes to exit. It kills any that remain and fails the run if it had
to. The test and its hooks have a 30 s budget, so a failure names the
wait that ran out.

### Workflow change (own commit)

Owner-approved: CI may download herdr-core hc 0.1.14, pinned by version
and sha256, only in the job that runs this test.

- New job `herdr-core-live` (GitHub's `ubuntu-24.04`, code changes only,
skipped on drafts like the other heavy jobs).
- hc comes from herdr-core's official release server,
`https://releases.herdr.dev/core/0.1.14/herdr-core-linux-x86_64.tar.gz`
(herdr-core publishes no GitHub release assets). The sha256
`e9dbabde…343e` is the one in that release's `manifest.json`.
- The tarball is cached under a key holding both version and sha256. The
sha256 is checked on every run, cache hit or not, before unpacking.
`--version` must then print exactly `hc 0.1.14`. A failed download, a
checksum mismatch or a wrong version fails the job: `set -euo pipefail`,
`curl -f`, `sha256sum -c`.
- The binary is unpacked into `$RUNNER_TEMP/hc`, not on `PATH`; only the
test step gets its path, through `OVIS_TEST_HC_BIN`. The job runs
`setup-ci` with `cache: restore`, so a job running a third-party binary
never saves the Bun cache.
- It is not added to the required checks or to the `Integration and
browser` gate, so a red run does not block a merge yet. Like the other
heavy jobs, it reports green on drafts without running. The job sets
`HERDR_TEST_MODE: unit` like its sibling jobs.

## Validation

- `OVIS_TEST_HC_BIN=<hc 0.1.14> bun test
server/herdr-core/live.test.ts`: 2 pass, five runs. Without the
variable: 4 skip. With `OVIS_TEST_HC_BIN=/bin/false`: fails at once in
setup. No hc process or default-session path is left after any run
(`pgrep -af herdr-core`; `~/.local/state/herdr-core` and
`/run/user/$UID/herdr-core` do not exist).
- I ran the job's download and verify steps locally: with the pinned
sha256 the check passes, `hc 0.1.14` prints and the test passes on that
binary; with a wrong sha256 the step exits 1.
- `bun test scripts/ci-setup.test.ts scripts/ci-concurrency.test.ts
scripts/ci-browser.test.ts scripts/pr-title.test.ts`: 37 pass. `bun run
typecheck`: pass.
- `bun run check fast` on the final tree: pass (unit: 595 test files;
workflow syntax, generated types and themes, typecheck, build, unit
tests).
- Reviews:
- Codex Terra (gpt-6.1-terra, xhigh): 1 HIGH, 2 MEDIUM and 1 LOW, all
fixed. HIGH: cleanup with a half-built env could stop the default hc
session. MEDIUM: a failed stop went unreported, and the test's 5 s waits
matched Bun's 5 s per-test limit. LOW: `--version` ran outside the test
step.
- omo-native-code-reviewer: APPROVE, no HIGH. Its MEDIUM was the same
timeout, already fixed. Taken from its LOWs: stderr in the start
assertion, dropping inherited `HC_*`, `HERDR_TEST_MODE: unit`. Not
taken: the cache is saved after hc runs. Every run checks the sha256
before unpacking, so the worst case is a failed job, never a trusted bad
binary.
- Live test after the fixes: 2 pass on 10 runs in a row, and on 5 more
with `HC_SOCKET`/`HC_SESSION` set to wrong values in the parent env. No
hc process or default-session path is left afterwards.
- Skipped: `bun run check full`; macOS and Windows (herdr-core runtime
is Linux/macOS only, and this job is Linux only).

…on (#2447)

## Change

Follow-up to #2442 (part of #2439). On `OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core`, every
open pane ran its own `hc attach` process inside a PTY host (the Rust
host, or Node's as the fallback). That is two processes per viewer, for
a stream the server can open on the connection to hc it already holds.

This PR streams the terminal over the connection to hc the server
already holds, as a `terminal.attach` channel:

- `server/herdr-core/attach-session.ts`: `CoreAttachSession` answers the
calls the server makes on a PTY session.
  - Keystrokes are DATA frames and a size is hc's RESIZE.
- What `hc attach` did for its outer terminal, it now does for the
viewers' xterm (ported from herdr-core `attach.rs`):
- Once attached, it asks the viewers for their colours, cursor colour
and cell size (OSC 10/11/12, `CSI 16t`, DA1) and turns focus reporting
on.
- It takes the replies and focus reports out of typed input and sends
them to hc as FACTS (only when they change) and FOCUS. It asks again on
focus-in, and keeps focus reporting on when the program turns it off.
- Without this, a program asking for the background colour got hc's
default instead of Ovis's theme.
- `winch()` sends nothing: `hc attach` sends RESIZE only when its grid
really changed, and a same-size RESIZE would make Ovis hc's active
viewer and take the terminal's size from whoever works in it.
- `pause()` holds back hc's flow-control credit and `resume()` pays it.
hc's rule for a viewer that falls 4 MiB behind (drop the backlog, send a
repaint) applies as it did when the PTY host paused `hc attach`.
  - Keys written before hc answers the attach are sent once it does.
- `kill()` settles `exited` only once hc has answered the detach, so the
registry's barrier before the next attach holds.
  - A failed attach logs why; `hc attach` used to print it in the pane.
- `server/herdr-core/connection.ts`:
  - `Channel.credit` and a manual-credit mode.
- Frames on a channel whose call has not been answered yet are kept and
replayed once the answer names the channel. hc queues an attach's first
paint before its reply, and its writer can send the paint first
(`viewers.rs` `attach`, `wire.rs` `Outbox`).
- A stream whose call already timed out is closed rather than left open
on the shared connection. Its frames, and those of a detach hc never
answered, are dropped.
- `server/herdr-core/runtime.ts`: `coreConnection()`, the server's one
`HcConnection`, shared by the adapter and the live terminals.
- `server/core/terminal-process.ts`: on herdr-core, `CoreAttachSession`
replaces the `PtySession` running `hc attach`. herdr's path is the same
`PtySession` with the same arguments and environment; only the
herdr-core branches go.
- `server/core/terminals.test.ts`: its herdr-core case pinned the `hc
attach` spawn (arguments, environment). It now checks that no PTY is
started and that the core session gets the terminal and grid.

### Second commit: live terminals where no PTY host runs

On main, a PC whose server can run no PTY host (no Rust host and no
Node) mirrors its panes (`attachableIdentity`, `server/pty/sidecar.ts`).
On herdr-core that mirror is drawn from `pane.read`, which on core is
text without colours. Streaming over the server's hc connection needs no
PTY host. So where this process serves herdr-core (`servingCore()`:
`startRuntime` ran), the identity keeps `terminal_attach`. A remote
bridge that only inherits `OVIS_RUNTIME` keeps herdr's answer.

- Real server with no PTY host (PATH without Node, Rust host missing):
main reports `terminal_attach: false, terminal_mirror: true` and its
panes echo in 17-18 ms (mirrored). This branch reports `terminal_attach:
true` and streams live, echo 0.4-2.4 ms.
- Known limit: a viewer joining after the 128 KiB replay buffer filled
gets no full repaint. This limit was already there for core live
attaches, `hc attach` included (`winch()` sends nothing, as `hc attach`
sent nothing). With no PTY host the trade is a colourless mirror for a
live stream with colours that can miss content drawn before that tail.

## Measurement

Same machine, same isolated hc 0.1.14 core, real server (`startRuntime`
+ `createServer`, port 0). "Before" is main at 96da06f with the release
Rust PTY host (v0.4.21, `bun scripts/pty-sidecar.ts install`).

| 3 core panes attached over `/ws` | before (main, Rust PTY host) |
after |
|---|---|---|
| server child processes | 7: `hc connect` + 3x `hc attach` + 3x
`ovis-pty-sidecar` | 1: `hc connect` |
| their RSS | 12.5 MB (159 MB with the Node PTY host) | 2.2 MB |

Typing latency is unchanged. In a real browser (Playwright, headless
Chromium, 1280x800), the first command typed into a freshly opened pane
echoes in about 103 ms on main and 48-104 ms on this branch. A raw
WebSocket client sees a ~600 ms wait on main's first key, because it
never answers `hc attach`'s startup display query. Ovis's xterm does
answer it, so users do not see that wait, and I do not count it as a
gain.

## Validation

- `bun test server/herdr-core server/core/terminals.test.ts
server/terminal-process.test.ts`: 57 pass. `bun run typecheck`: pass.
- New unit tests: `server/herdr-core/attach-session.test.ts` (10,
against a fake `hc connect`). I broke each behaviour in turn and its
test failed:
  - pause withheld no credit;
  - the RESIZE grid swapped cols and rows;
  - `winch()` sent a RESIZE;
  - no replay of a first paint sent before the reply;
  - no CLOSE for a timed-out attach's stream;
  - `exited` settled before hc answered the detach;
  - display replies were passed to the program;
  - focus reporting was not kept on.
- Against a real hc 0.1.14 (isolated session): a `CoreAttachSession`
typing, resizing (`size` event, then `terminal.get` 90x20) and reporting
the program's exit code (7). 3/3 on three runs. That case joins
`server/herdr-core/live.test.ts` once #2445 (which adds the file)
merges.
- Real server, 3 attached panes: the table above. No hc process or
default-session path is left afterwards.
- Browser (Playwright, headless Chromium, 1280x800 and 390x844):
- The core pane shows under "Other terminals", and commands typed in the
browser run in its shell.
  - At the phone width, a reattached pane shows its earlier screen.
  - No `hc attach` process exists while attached.
- A program in the pane asking for the background colour (OSC 11) gets
`rgb:1818/1818/1818`, the same as main. Without the display facts it got
hc's default `rgb:2828/2c2c/3434`.
- `bun run check fast` on the final commit (both commits): pass (9204
pass, 0 fail; generated types and themes, typecheck, build, unit
tests)..
- Reviews:
- Codex Terra (gpt-6.1-terra, xhigh), round 1: 2 HIGH, 3 MEDIUM. Fixed:
a first paint sent before the attach reply was dropped; a late attach
reply left an orphaned viewer; `exited` settled before hc answered the
detach. Not changed, because the old `hc attach` path behaved the same:
pausing lets hc drop a backlog past 4 MiB and repaint; a same-size
`winch()` does not make hc repaint.
- Codex Terra on the second commit: 2 MEDIUM. Fixed: a remote bridge
that inherits `OVIS_RUNTIME` no longer claims a core attach
(`servingCore()` instead of the variable). Kept as a known limit: no
full repaint for a viewer joining after the replay buffer filled (see
above).
- Codex Terra, round 2: no regression from the old path. Its eight
points each match `hc attach`:
- The display questions sit in the replay buffer and are answered again
by a later viewer; `hc attach` wrote them through the same PTY into the
same buffer.
- Replies are taken out of all typed input, at any time; so did `hc
attach`.
- FACTS/FOCUS are sent before the rest of the same input; `hc attach`
does that in one read loop too.
- A same-size `winch()` gives a joining viewer no full repaint; neither
did `hc attach`.
- The detach barrier ends on the close timeout; the old barrier was the
`hc attach` process exiting, which never waited for hc at all.
- Known limit: a display reply split across two input messages reaches
the program. Each xterm input event arrives whole, so I did not add a
carried tail, which would hold back a typed Esc until the next key.
- omo-native-code-reviewer, round 1: REQUEST_CHANGES on two points, both
fixed. M1: a same-size `winch()` RESIZE took the terminal's size from
other viewers. M2: the browser's colours and cell size no longer reached
hc; I reproduced it with the OSC 11 check above. It also raised four
LOWs, all fixed: dropping an abandoned channel's frames, logging a
failed attach, the stale core test case, and dead null checks.
- omo-native-code-reviewer, round 2: APPROVE, all six resolved. It left
three LOW notes, not changed:
- One ask can produce up to four FACTS frames (xterm answers each query
separately), and a focus-in asks every viewer again. The last frame
carries every fact.
- A display reply split across two input messages would reach the
program; each xterm reply is one message today.
- A focus report typed before hc answered the attach is dropped, until
the next focus change or key.
- Skipped: `bun run check full`; macOS (herdr-core runtime is
Linux/macOS only, not run on a Mac here); Windows (the herdr-core
runtime refuses to start there).

…art agents, on herdr-core (#2449)

## Change

Follow-up to #2442 (part of #2439). On `OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core`, the
adapter refused creating and closing workspaces, tabs and panes, and
starting agents (`unsupported`). New workspace, New tab, Close and the
agent picker therefore failed on a core PC.

### Creating and closing (first commit)

- `workspace.create` / `tab.create` start a shell that hc keeps
(`terminal.run`, `keep: true`), in the folder asked for. A tab starts
where its workspace's first pane works.
- The shell is labeled `herdr.space` / `herdr.tab`, the labels the Herdr
desktop app gives its own terminals, so the app adopts it into that
space and tab (herdr-app `src/window.rs` `reconcile` / `adopt`).
- Ovis never writes the app's `herdr-app` document, where names live, so
a name typed in Ovis is kept as an `ovis.workspace` / `ovis.tab` label.
- `pane.close` / `tab.close` / `workspace.close` end every terminal
concerned at once (`terminal.kill`, then `terminal.rm`). The app then
drops its panes, as it does for any terminal that ends.
- `server/herdr-core/snapshot.ts` shows a terminal the app has not
placed (yet, or with no app running) in the space and tab its labels
name, instead of under "Other terminals":
- A labeled id that the app's document uses for something else falls
back to an id of its own, so two tabs never become one.
  - A second unplaced pane of a tab sits beside the first, not over it.
- Once the app adopts a terminal into an unnamed space or tab, the name
typed in Ovis is shown, before the folder or a number.

### Starting agents (second commit)

- `server.agent_manifests` offers the agent kinds Ovis knows
(`AGENT_LABELS`, now exported from `server/agents-routes.ts`). Ovis's
own shell-started agents are still offered and started by the server
itself (`shell-agent.ts`).
- `agent.start` types `kind` and its quoted arguments into the pane's
shell, as herdr starts an agent by its kind:
- Only when hc reports the pane's own shell in front. Otherwise it
answers `agent_pane_busy`, which `agent-launch.ts` already retries while
a new shell comes up.
- The line starts with Ctrl-U, so a half-typed line is cleared rather
than run with the command after it.
  - Arguments with control characters are refused.
  - The pane's input turn is held for the typing only.
- It answers once the agent itself is in front: a program or script
named for the kind (`claude`, `node …/claude-code/cli.js`,
`codex-x86_64-…`). Otherwise, after at most 10 s, `agent_start_failed`.
A shell's command-not-found handler runs in front too, so "any program
in front" is not enough.

### Also: a live test of #2447's attach (third commit)

`server/herdr-core/live.test.ts` (from #2445) gets a case that streams a
real hc terminal through `CoreAttachSession`: typing, a resize (hc's
`size` event, then `terminal.get` 90x20) and the program's exit code.
The CI job `herdr-core live contract` runs it. Test-only.

Known limits:
- A person typing into the same new pane through another live view at
the same moment can interleave with the typed command.
- A nested shell in an existing pane is answered as busy.
- A wrapper script seen in front can still fail after the start was
answered.

## Validation

- `bun test server/herdr-core`: all pass, with new cases in
`snapshot.test.ts` and `adapter.test.ts`. I broke each behaviour in
turn, and its test failed:
  - no labels on the new shell;
  - no `rm` on close;
  - one terminal ended at a time;
  - no grouping by label;
  - no tab-id collision guard;
  - panes stacked at (0,0);
  - names lost after adoption;
  - unquoted arguments;
  - shell-started agents offered;
  - no busy-pane check;
  - no control-character check;
  - no start confirmation;
  - exact names only;
  - no Ctrl-U;
  - the input turn held through the wait.
- Real server (`startRuntime` + `createServer`) on an isolated hc
0.1.14, through its HTTP routes:
- `POST /api/workspace/create` with a folder and a name: 200, and the
session shows the workspace with that name.
- `POST /api/tab/create` into it: 200, started in the workspace's
folder.
- `POST /api/pane/close` and `/api/workspace/close`: 200. Afterwards hc
has only the terminal that existed before.
  - `GET /api/agents` lists the installed kinds.
- Creating a workspace with an installed agent answers `agent_started:
true` with the agent in front.
- Creating one with an agent that is not installed (`amp`):
`agent_started: false`, `agent_start_failed` after about 10 s, and the
pane shows the shell's "not found".
  - No hc process or default-session path is left afterwards.
- `bun run check fast` on the final branch: pass (9219 pass, 0 fail;
generated types and themes, typecheck, build, unit tests).
- Reviews:
- Codex Terra (gpt-6.1-terra, xhigh), first commit: 1 HIGH and 3 MEDIUM,
all fixed. HIGH: a labeled tab id the app uses in another space merged
two tabs, so closing one killed both; it now gets an id of its own.
MEDIUM: closing was serial and stopped at the first failure; unplaced
panes overlapped; a typed name was lost after adoption.
- Codex Terra, second commit, round 1: 1 HIGH and 3 MEDIUM, all fixed.
HIGH: typing into a busy pane. MEDIUM: typing before the shell was
ready, success reported without an agent, control characters in
arguments. Round 2: queue held through the wait, half-typed line and
agent names, fixed. Three accepted as known limits, listed above.
- omo-native-code-reviewer: APPROVE. Both MEDIUMs fixed: Cursor's agent
is `cursor-agent` (herdr-app `defaults/programs.json`), not the IDE's
`cursor`; closing "Other terminals" as a whole is refused, because its
jobs and agents' workers are no workspace's. Its LOWs are noted, not
changed, since Ovis's own callers cannot reach them.
- The real server caught one false success the unit tests missed:
Ubuntu's command-not-found handler counted as "a program in front". The
start now looks for the agent itself.
- Live: `OVIS_TEST_HC_BIN=<hc 0.1.14> bun test
server/herdr-core/live.test.ts`: 3 pass, two runs, no hc left.
- Skipped: `bun run check full`; macOS (the herdr-core runtime runs
there but was not tried on a Mac here); Windows (the herdr-core runtime
refuses it).

…, tabs and panes (#2451)

## Change

Follow-up to #2442 (part of #2439). On `OVIS_RUNTIME=herdr-core`, the
Herdr desktop app's window owns the PC's workspaces, tabs and splits,
and the adapter refuses renaming, moving, splitting, swapping, zooming
and resizing them, plus the worktree actions. The browser still offered
all of them, so each ended in an error. #2449 (merged) made New and
Close work on herdr-core, so those stay.

- **Server**: `HerdrIdentity.runtime?: "herdr-core"`
(`shared/machines.ts`). The adapter's `ping` declares it, and `ping()`
carries it into the identity `/api/health` and `/api/bridge` serve, so a
remote PC's bridge reports it too. A herdr (TUI) PC leaves it out.
- **Client**: `AppLayoutContext` (`src/lib/machineContext.tsx`),
provided per PC beside `MachineContext`: the selected PC, each half of
the split view, each PC's sidebar. On a herdr-core PC it hides:
- workspaces: rename, reordering (drag, Alt+Arrow, touch), the worktree
items and the automatic worktree listing;
- tabs: rename (menu, F2, double-click, palette, shortcut), move (menu,
Alt+Shift+Arrow, drag) and move to workspace;
- panes: rename and clear name, swap (menu and dragging one pane's title
onto another), split, zoom and the dividers;
- split and zoom actions and shortcuts (`src/lib/layoutActions.ts`,
moved out of App so the gate is testable).
- **Kept on core**: New workspace / tab / terminal, New tab with agent,
Close, Pin, Earlier sessions. A core PC's sidebar row still drags into
half of the pane area; only the reorder is off.
- **Design**: it follows Zed, whose remote projects leave out what the
remote host cannot do rather than showing it disabled (VS Code's `when`
clauses work the same way). Recorded in DESIGN.md.

## Validation

- New tests:
`src/components/{Sidebar,TabStrip,PaneCanvas,CommandPalette}.appLayout.test.tsx`,
`src/lib/layoutActions.test.ts`, and an adapter test that `ping()`
reports `runtime: "herdr-core"`. Each gate was removed once and its test
failed. Each test also checks that a TUI PC keeps every item.
- Browser (Playwright, headless Chromium, a real server on an isolated
hc 0.1.14):
- On a core PC, the tab menu shows only "New tab with agent…" and "Close
tab".
- Dragging one pane's title onto another in a two-pane tab sends no
`/api/pane/swap`. With that gate removed, the same drag sends
`{"pane_id":"t2","target_pane_id":"t3"}`.
- The workspace row's menu was not reached in the browser on that core
(no "More for" button there), so its gating rests on the component
tests.
- `bun run check fast` on the final branch (rebased on 3d9258d): pass
(9243 pass, 0 fail).
- Reviews:
- Codex Terra (gpt-6.1-terra, xhigh), round 1: 1 MEDIUM, fixed (the
pane-title drag still offered a swap). Its LOWs: keep core rows
draggable for the split view (done); the per-PC wiring is checked by the
browser run above.
- Codex Terra, round 2: create and close stay offered on core. That is
by design: #2449 made them work.
- omo-native-code-reviewer: REQUEST_CHANGES on the same pane-title drag
(fixed, browser-verified above). Its MEDIUM about sidebar rows is fixed;
the palette's duplicate split/zoom gate is removed; the Rename tab
shortcut does nothing on core; DESIGN.md cites Zed.
- Skipped: `bun run check full`; a herdr (TUI) browser run, which the
tests cover by asserting every item on a TUI PC.

…main (#2515)

## Change

docs/guide.md's **Herdr app terminals** section described herdr-core as
it was in #2442. This brings it in line with main after the merged
herdr-core follow-ups:

- The live view streams over the server's own hc connection (#2447), not
a per-viewer `hc attach`. The `OVIS_HC_BIN` row now says the same.
- New workspace, New tab, a new terminal, New tab with agent and Close
work on herdr-core (#2449). They start labeled shells the Herdr app
adopts, and Ovis-typed names are kept as labels.
- Agents start only in a pane running a plain shell of its own (#2456).
- Renaming, moving and reordering, plus splitting, swapping, zooming and
resizing, stay unavailable and are hidden (#2451). Search and scrollback
selection, plugins and worktrees are still unavailable.
- `error` no longer counts as finished: a turn is done only when the
program reports it (#2455).

Unchanged and still true: Linux/macOS only, OSC 7501-only status, the
Chat colour caveat, remote PCs on herdr's TUI server, hc generation 1
checked with 0.1.14. #2512 (no watch on herdr-core) is still open and is
not described.

Docs only. No changelog fragment: the merged PRs already carry their own
user-facing entries.

## Validation

- Checked each sentence against `server/herdr-core/adapter.ts` (methods
answered, `agent_pane_unsupported`, Other terminals close),
`snapshot.ts` (`agentStatusOf`, name labels), `server/completion.ts`
(`reportedOnly`), `server/core/terminal-process.ts`
(`CoreAttachSession`), `runtime.ts` (platform refusal) and
`src/lib/machineContext.tsx` (`appLayoutOf`).
- `bun run check fast`: passed (workflow syntax, generated types/themes,
typecheck, build, unit tests). Nothing else ran. Ran again on the second
commit: passed.
- The architecture note (around guide.md:902) no longer says the server
"attaches with `hc attach`": it streams the live terminals over its one
`hc connect`.

## Release 0.4.22

The release PR, prepared by step 1 of
[docs/development.md#releasing](https://github.com/devswha/ovis/blob/main/docs/development.md#releasing)
on main `41492320` (#2453 the last merge), refreshed to main `99a6671f`
(#2582 the last merge).

**Do not merge yet:** the owner tests main and judges the final build
before release. No tag and no Release run from this PR's author.

- **Version:** `version` is 0.4.22 in `package.json` and
`herdr-plugin.toml`.
- **Changelog:** `bun scripts/changelog-fold.ts 0.4.22` (2026-10-31,
local) folded 20 fragments into the 2026-10-31 section of `CHANGELOG.md`
(23 entries with the hand entry), linked their PRs and deleted the
fragments; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
- `by @login` on every outside contributor's PR link: #2453 @jokkopucko,
#2452 @jokkopucko, #2442 @nahwan-kim, #2463 @zerodice0, #2468
@Yoonwoo-Ha, #2065 @rabbitson87 (both entries), #2466 @jpcarranza94,
#2467 @jpcarranza94, #2457 @YuuuXie, #2420 @cheol-95 (both entries),
#2459 @Haeminway1, #2450 @briantcl1992, #2448 @briantcl1992.
- One outside PR had no fragment and got an entry by hand: #2448
(installer test no longer finds the host's Node, Maintenance).
- Issue reporters: #2442's entry credits @Ploppy3, who asked for
herdr-core support in #2439. The other fixed issues were filed by the
PR's own author (#2460 @zerodice0, #2464 @jpcarranza94, #2419 @cheol-95,
#2089 @rabbitson87) or the maintainer (#2444), so the PR credit covers
them.
- Two fragments ran past the changelog's width (#2443, #2446); their
entries are re-wrapped, words unchanged.
- Folded after the PR opened (merge of main `653613cb`, by hand per the
release steps): #2474 (Pi Chat message with leading/trailing spaces, a
tab or a trailing `@mention` no longer stuck "waiting for transcript",
Fixed), credited `reported by @BeerBelly69` (he reported issue #2454;
the PR is the maintainer's, so the earlier `by @BeerBelly69` was
corrected in `90536524`). Its fragment is deleted; `changelog.d` holds
only `README.md`. The release summaries are unchanged: their fixed list
is already at five lines.
- Folded in a second refresh (merge of main `98c1f5e0`, by hand): #2475
(a reconnecting or reloading browser gets back its follow-up's lost
"sent" receipt, Fixed), credited `reported by @christso`, who filed
#2421 and proposed the approach. Its fragment is deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`. The release summaries are unchanged (fixed list
already at five lines).
- Folded in a third refresh (merge of main `af20e0a4`, by hand): #2490
(Chat keeps its messages mounted when the pane's skill names load, so a
decoded image no longer drops back to its loading slot, Fixed), credited
`by @nocstah` (outside PR, no linked issue); #2483 (a Copilot turn stays
whole when its pictures pass the page window, Fixed); #2479 (Chat shows
the pictures in a Copilot CLI session, Added); #2482 (Chat shows the
picture attached to a Hermes prompt, Added). #2483, #2479 and #2482 are
maintainer PRs; #2483's issue #2478 is the maintainer's, so no reporter
credit. #2480 (site only) had no fragment. Their fragments are deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The release summaries are
unchanged: the fixed list is already at five lines, and the two new
picture features stay in the changelog only (the new list has room for
them if the owner wants them there).
- Folded in a fourth refresh (merge of main `4ca7d24d`, by hand): #2481
(Grok pictures in Chat), #2477 (svg figures, `reported by @affeek`, who
filed #2441 and co-authored the PR), #2498 (dollar math, `reported by
@kjohnsen`, #2407), #2484 (Expand thinking / Collapse work defaults,
`reported by @altgans and @Ploppy3`, #2346 and #2228) under Added; #2494
(`by @todor-a`), #2491 (`by @nocstah`), #2487, #2486, #2472 (`reported
by @matiemer`, #2462) and #2476 (relay session uses the server's port)
under Fixed. 10 fragments deleted; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
Every entry's credit was re-checked with GraphQL (PR author, closing
issues' authors, commit authors): #2487's #2374, #2486's #2485 and
#2483's #2478 are the maintainer's, so no reporter credit.
- Folded in a fifth refresh (merge of main `f5370d54`, by hand): #2503
(Claude question card steps and Back, `reported and co-authored by
@jpcarranza94`, who filed #2465 and co-authored the fix), #2502 (tab
name from its first message, `reported by @vibewriter-hand`, #2019) and
#2505 (a note on a diff line goes into the next message; #1603 is the
maintainer's, so no credit) under Added; #2506 (OmO, Codex and Hermes
question cards move between questions without answering; it closes no
issue, so no credit) under Fixed. 4 fragments deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`. #2499's hand-written relay entry is kept. All
four PRs are the maintainer's; credits re-checked with GraphQL (PR
author, closing issues' authors, commit authors).
- Sixth refresh (merge of main `feb3ae09`, head `e3b0dc37`): main had no
fragment left to fold. #2504 (the owner's PR, no fragment) gets a hand
entry under Added next to #2499's: the PC side of the relay, which
answers the relay's server proof, `/api/relay` start/stop routes
restricted to the owner and to direct connections, and a relay QR from
`plugin pair`; off by default with no Settings switch yet. No credit
(maintainer PR). It stays out of the release summaries (off by default,
no UI).
- Seventh refresh (merge of main `a683e3ff`, head `7855c73c`): folded
#2509's two fragments by hand, two entries under Added (the phone side
of the relay: the hosted shell that pairs from the PC's relay QR and
opens the app end-to-end encrypted; files and chat images through the
relay) and one under Fixed (the iOS and Android apps no longer show the
hosted shell's home-screen hint). Each says the relay is off by default.
#2499's entry now says Ovis uses the relay only once a PC's relay link
is started. No credit (maintainer PR). The fragments are deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The relay stays out of the release
summaries.
- Eighth refresh (merge of main `0b215abf`, head `f76f3ae4`): folded
#2514's three fragments by hand under Fixed (relay connection limits and
the 30 s wait for an absent PC, proof of the PC's relay key, the hosted
shell's copy-on-select and relay-control requests) and added a hand
entry for #2514 under Added: remote access through the Ovis relay can be
turned on in **Settings → Phone & devices** (off by default), with the
iOS and Android apps opening a relay-paired PC from its link;
app.ovis.sh is deployed separately. #2499, #2504 and #2509's entries no
longer say there is no Settings switch: they now say the relay is turned
on in Settings. No credit (maintainer PR). Also folded #2511 (Claude
task-list scan on file workers, Fixed, `by @duytbp`) and #2518 (feedback
typed on Claude Code's plan card keeps Claude planning, Fixed, `by
@jpcarranza94`, who also reported #2517, so no separate reporter
credit). #2515 is docs only, no fold. 5 fragments deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`.
- Ninth refresh (merge of main `fbb97b62`, head `44048d5f`, fold in the
merge commit): folded 23 fragments by hand: 7 entries under Added
(#2514's rewritten relay-identity entry, which replaces its old Fixed
entry about the PC's relay key; #2519 Letta model pill `by @homebodify`;
#2522 relay bulk window and the relay overview, self-hosting and
hosted-shell attestation; #2524 DeepSeek Harness in the catalog), 3
under Changed (#2533 Connect a phone dialog and the `tailscale serve`
box; #2539 chat pictures shown whole) and 26 under Fixed: #2508; #2512
`by @lifeofpi-ux`; #2516; #2521, #2526, #2531, #2538, #2541, #2543,
#2545, #2547, #2549 and #2551 `by @jpcarranza94`; #2527 `reported by
@duytbp` (#2510); #2532; #2535 `reported by @devtm1123` (#2513). #2532's
#2523 is the maintainer's; @jpcarranza94's issues (#2525, #2537, #2540,
#2542, #2544, #2546, #2548, #2550) are covered by his PR credit. #2529
(perf) is not merged and stays out of 0.4.22. 23 fragments deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
- Tenth refresh (merge of main `afdfb1e0`, head `1cfcfab7`, fold in the
merge commit), on the owner's OK for both: folded #2567 (Connect a phone
shows three choice cards and opens on the relay whenever it is offered,
with the relay's switch on its card on a tailnet; maintainer PR, no
credit) under Changed and #2555 (the New workspace folder picker's
compact row; `by @iwangjie`, no linked issue) under Fixed. 2 fragments
deleted; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The IMPROVED summary line
now says the relay needs no Tailscale, in en, ko, ja and zh.
- Eleventh refresh (merge of main `2b620462`, head `13fa0181`, fold in
the merge commit), on the owner's go for each: folded 13 entries from 12
fragments by hand. Changed: #2562 (a chat starts loading when the press
begins, `by @jpcarranza94`), #2574 (Quote a selection into the message
box), #2578 (the relay's switch, reset and failures only in Connect a
phone). Fixed: #2564 and #2560 (two entries) `by @jpcarranza94`; #2554
`by @iwangjie`; #2577; #2576 (the session-bound conversation cache,
fixing the two HIGHs the post-merge Codex Terra review reproduced in
#2562 and #2545); #2572 `reported by @rkqksk` (#2557); #2570 `reported
by @nathanvale` (#2566); #2571 `reported by @altgans` (#2568); #2575
`reported by @matiemer` (#2558). @jpcarranza94's own issues (#2559,
#2561, #2563) are covered by his PR credit. 12 fragments deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. IMPROVED summary: "Select words in
a Chat reply to quote them into your message." replaces the spacing
line, in en, ko, ja and zh.
- Twelfth refresh (merge of main `64ae5e72`, head `3ae2133e`), on Dori's
go: folded #2580 under Fixed (the Cloudflare relay closes both ends of a
pair after a frame send fails, so they reconnect at once; maintainer PR,
no credit) and deleted its fragment. #2579 (guide only) has no fragment.
Summaries unchanged.
- Thirteenth refresh (merge of main `99a6671f`, head `aebaabbf`), on
Dori's go: folded #2582 under Fixed (`by @iwangjie`: the folder picker's
Show hidden waits for a loading folder; the path bar wraps at very
narrow widths) and deleted its fragment. Summaries unchanged.
- Maintainer PRs without a fragment and without a user-facing change
have no entry: #2436 (relay crypto/mux foundations, not wired yet),
#2445 (CI contract test against a pinned hc).
- **Release summaries:** en, ko, ja and zh each have 8 new, 8 improved
and 8 fixed lines (8 is the most a list the app reads may hold, 90
characters a line). New: remote access through the Ovis relay, turned on
in Settings (off by default), with app.ovis.sh shipping separately
(#2514); pictures in Chat for Copilot, Grok and Hermes (#2479, #2481,
#2482); svg figures (#2477); math with dollar signs (#2498); Portal
sign-in with watch-only visitors (#2065); DeepSeek Harness in Settings →
Agents with its conversations in Chat on Linux (#2524, #2453); tab names
from the first message (#2502); notes on diff lines (#2505). Improved:
Expand thinking / Collapse work defaults (#2484), Chat spacing that
follows the font size (#2491), key bar drag reorder (#2463), same-host
links in an in-app popup on phones (#2459), Claude question cards with
steps and Back (#2503), OmO, Codex and Hermes cards with Back and Next
(#2506), one Connect a phone dialog (#2533), pictures shown whole
(#2539). Fixed: panes again on Safari 16.4–17.3 and iOS 16.4+ (#2535),
Stop with a queued follow-up keeps the stopped message (#2547), a first
message reaches Claude Code (#2526), Codex Chat after a finished answer
(#2443), question cards show at once and stay (#2543), Chat no longer
redraws turns or jumps (#2538, #2545), a setting kept across a quick
reload (#2487), Claude's plan card in narrow panes (#2541). Moved to the
changelog only to fit the 8-line lists: Codex behind Kiro (#2420), Pi
messages with spaces (#2474), the Claude question card between questions
(#2466, #2467, now covered by the question-card line), short-phone
overlap (#2494), cross-tab settings (#2486), the Antigravity note
(#2472), plus the subagent poll perf (#2527), relay transport (#2516),
herdr-core no-watch (#2512) and the other Fixed entries above.
- **Remote bundle:** `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` rises from 40 to 41 because
the bundle inputs (`server/`, `shared/`, `bun.lock`) changed since
remote-v40. After merge: push `remote-v41` on the merged commit and wait
for the Remote PC bundles workflow before running Release.
- **Telemetry:** `telemetry/worker.ts` and `shared/telemetry.ts` are
unchanged since `telemetry/deployed.json`; no Worker deploy.

## Validation

- `bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21`: before the bump it
asked to raise `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` from 40 to 41 and nothing else;
after it, "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order."
- `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel0422 -- bun run check fast` on this
branch: workflow syntax, generated types and themes, typecheck, build,
unit tests all ok. Unit: 9827 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 623 files.
- After folding #2474 (head `3de63b49`): `bun scripts/release-guards.ts
--base 653613c` "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and
release metadata are in order."; `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy
refresh2473 -- bun run check fast` all ok, unit 9827 pass, 0 fail, 41
skip in 623 files.
- After folding #2475 and correcting the #2474 credit (head `90536524`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base 653613c` "Release 0.4.22: remote
bundle, telemetry Worker and release metadata are in order.";
`UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy refresh2473b -- bun run check fast` all
ok, unit 9851 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 623 files.
- After folding #2490, #2483, #2479 and #2482 (head `0da3756d`;
`e6eb7df6` removed the fragments and `0da3756d` adds their CHANGELOG
entries, which that commit left out): `bun scripts/release-guards.ts
--base 98c1f5e` "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and
release metadata are in order."; `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy
refresh2473c -- bun run check fast` all ok, unit 9855 pass, 0 fail, 41
skip in 623 files (with `TMPDIR` off the quota'd `/tmp` tmpfs; an
earlier run with the default `TMPDIR` hit `EDQUOT` there).
- After the fourth refresh (head `af31fa98`): `bun
scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main` both
"Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release metadata
are in order." main still has `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` 40 (no commit
since v0.4.21 touches it) and `remote-v41` is not tagged yet, so this
PR's 41 stays the one raise. `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473 --
bun run check fast` all ok, unit 9973 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 624
files.
- After the fifth refresh (head `b602a998`, merge of main `f5370d54`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41).
`UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473c -- bun run check fast` all ok,
unit 10107 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 631 files.
- After the sixth refresh (head `e3b0dc37`, merge of main `feb3ae09`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41).
`UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473d -- bun run check fast` all ok,
unit 10123 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 632 files.
- After the seventh refresh (head `7855c73c`, merge of main `a683e3ff`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41).
`UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473e -- bun run check fast` all ok,
unit 10314 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 644 files.
- After the eighth refresh (head `f76f3ae4`, merge of main `0b215abf`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." #2514's and #2511's `server/` changes land
before `remote-v41` is tagged, so `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41.
`UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473g -- bun run check fast` all ok,
unit 10363 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 649 files.
- After the ninth refresh (head `44048d5f`, merge of main `fbb97b62`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41; `remote-v41`
is not tagged yet). `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473 -- bun run
check fast` all ok, unit 10511 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 654 files;
`server/release-notes.test.ts` and `src/lib/updateNotes.test.ts` 52
pass.
- After the tenth refresh (head `1cfcfab7`, merge of main `afdfb1e0`):
`bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main`
both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41; both PRs are
client-only). `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473j -- bun run check
fast` all ok, unit 10511 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 654 files;
`server/release-notes.test.ts` and `src/lib/updateNotes.test.ts` 52
pass.
- After the eleventh refresh (head `13fa0181`, merge of main
`2b620462`): `bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base
origin/main` both "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and
release metadata are in order." (`REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` stays 41;
`remote-v41` is not tagged). `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473k --
bun run check fast` all ok, unit 10551 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 656
files; `server/release-notes.test.ts` and `src/lib/updateNotes.test.ts`
52 pass.
- After the twelfth refresh (head `3ae2133e`, merge of main `64ae5e72`):
both release guards "in order" (`--base v0.4.21` and `--base
origin/main`); `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473l -- bun run check
fast` all ok, unit 10553 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 656 files;
release-notes tests 52 pass.
- After the thirteenth refresh (head `aebaabbf`, merge of main
`99a6671f`): both release guards "in order" (`--base v0.4.21` and
`--base origin/main`); `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473m -- bun
run check fast` all ok, unit 10553 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 656 files;
release-notes tests 52 pass.
- Not run: `bun run check full` (integration and browser), left to CI;
no hands-on test of main, which is the owner's.

This is a release-metadata PR: it changes no code path. Per the release
steps, merge it after CI and the owner's go, then push `remote-v41`,
wait for its bundles, and run Release with `0.4.22`.
