fix(chat): call Claude's /compact done once it folds, and keep its chip out of a cleared chat - #2549
Part of #2548: this PR fixes the /compact and /clear chips (F28, F29). The image rows that jump on a reopen stay open in the issue.
This PR fixes parts 1 and 2 of the issue. Part 3 (reopened Markdown images that jump) is not in it. The issue describes it as known and open.
A Claude /compact chip says "Done" once the conversation is compacted. Claude Code writes /compact as a plain user line when the command starts. The server took that line as the result, so the chip read "Done · transcript" for the whole compaction (49 s in one run).
server/outcome.ts (transcriptEvidence): for a Claude /compact, only a compact_boundary record after the send is the result. The start line and the <command-name> echo are not. Until the boundary, the chip stays "Accepted".
Known limit: a message sent while /compact still runs closes /compact's evidence window, as for any command. Its chip then ends "No result seen". A Codex /compact chip already ends this way.
After /clear, the chat shows no row of the conversation it left. The conversation read moves to the new history before the next prompt poll. The last poll's outcomes stayed, and outcomeRows drew the old /compact as a sent row in the new, empty chat.
src/lib/outcomeChip.ts: afterMove(outcomes, held, first) gives the outcomes of the conversation the chat moved to. The newest /clear, /new, /reset or /resume made the move. It is taken from the list the chat held when it saw the move, or from the first list after it once the list changes. A later one did not move the chat. Every send before it is left out, by the server's send times, also one that a later poll lists first. With no such command (a /clear typed in the terminal), the held list is left out until a poll brings another list. That list then stands, because it tells no old send from a new one. The command list is the server's sessionChange test (server/prompt.ts).
src/components/ChatView.tsx: on a history switch that is no continuation, the chat keeps the outcomes it holds and the first list after them, and shows afterMove of the polled outcomes while that history shows. The server lists the old sends until herdr names the new session, which can be a poll after the read. So a lagging answer cannot draw them either.
The /clear row and its "No result seen" stay as they are: a session change is no proof that the command completed (server/prompt.ts).
Reference app: Claude Code itself. Its own UI shows a compaction as running until the summary is written, and /clear starts from an empty screen with nothing of the conversation before it.
The open PRs #2543 and #2545 also change src/components/ChatView.tsx. Their hunks do not touch these lines. #2545 changes the 409 path in the same conversation read, a few lines above the history switch.
Validation
Red and green, /compact (server/outcome.test.ts, new test "calls Claude's /compact done only once the compaction is recorded"). The records are the ones Claude Code 2.1 writes: the start line, then the boundary, the summary, the echo and the output.
On main (53542d6): fails with Expected: "accepted", Received: "result-observed".
With this PR: passes.
Red and green, /clear (scripts/chat-outcome-note-browser-qa.ts, two new cases after the four note runs). A real ChatView reads a conversation, which then moves to a new, empty history, and the server lists /compact and /clear. In the first case the chat held /compact when it saw the move. In the second, a poll lists /compact only after the move.
On main: fails with AssertionError: the cleared chat shows no /compact row, actual: 1, expected: 0.
On the first commit of this PR (629092b), the second case fails the same way.
With this PR: both pass, 3 runs of 3.
src/lib/outcomeChip.test.ts, new tests for afterMove: the held list, a send listed only after the move, a later /resume that did not move the chat, and a later list with no move, which stands.
Targeted test files, main and this PR:
src/lib/outcomeChip.test.ts, src/lib/chatRows.test.ts: 24 pass on main, 27 pass here.
server/outcome-*.test.ts (7 files), server/outcome.test.ts, server/prompt.test.ts, server/core/status.test.ts: 641 pass and 14 skip on main, 642 pass and 14 skip here.
server/outcome.contract.test.ts through bun run check run: 1 pass on both.
The four conventions.test.ts files and scripts/changelog-fold.test.ts: 70 pass.
bun scripts/chat-outcome-note-browser-qa.ts: 5 PASS lines on main, 7 here (the two new cases).
bun scripts/chat-history-browser-qa.ts: 7 of 11 cases pass on main (2 runs) and with this PR (3 runs). Both stop at the same case, "changing terminal fallback retains the New messages indicator while scrolled up", which waits for .chat-new-messages. That fixture runs no prompt poll, so it never reaches this change.
bun run typecheck: clean.
Live evidence from my test runs, Claude Code 2.1.316 (haiku) in an isolated herdr session, headless Chromium at 1280×800, Ovis at feb3ae0:
/compact: the start line at 00:57:55.560Z, the compact_boundary at 00:58:44.286Z. The chip read "Done · transcript" from 00:57:57.585Z, for 47 s while it ran.
/clear: the conversation read answered the new history (turns 0) at 00:58:51.894Z, and the next poll listed only /clear at 00:58:52.270Z. Between them, the cleared chat showed the /compact row for 336 ms (5 frames).
With my earlier draft of the /clear fix in its demo harness (the rule afterMove follows for a list held at the move): the cleared chat shows no /compact row, also when the server lags and still lists it. I did not run Claude live with this branch.
Not run: bun run check fast, which hangs on this Mac on server/usage-login-private, and the full lanes. These files also fail on main on this Mac: scripts/check, scripts/self-hosted-runner, scripts/install-star, scripts/ci-browser, scripts/ci-browser-parallel, server/codex, server/codex-processes, server/session-history, server/letta, server/remote-entry, server/core/composer-framing, server/usage-login-private, and sometimes server/bridge.
…ip out of a cleared chat
Claude Code writes /compact as a user line when it starts. The server took that line as the
result, so the chip read "Done · transcript" for the whole compaction. Only the compact
boundary after the send is its result now.
After /clear, the last prompt poll still held the old conversation's sends, and the server can
list them for one more poll. They were drawn as sent rows in the new, empty chat. A history
switch now hides them (lib/outcomeChip.ts leftBehind). The /clear, /new or /resume that made
the switch, and later sends, keep their rows.

Bug Fixes
Claude Code /compact now reports “Done” after compaction completes.
After /clear, commands from the previous conversation no longer appear in the new chat.
The changes make Claude /compact completion evidence depend on a compaction boundary. They also hide outcomes left behind when Chat switches to a new history, with tests and browser QA for both behaviors.
Changes: Chat command outcomes
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Resolve /compact at the boundary server/outcome.ts, server/outcome.test.ts
Claude /compact uses a compact_boundary transcript record as evidence. The regression test checks that the initial command line does not resolve the outcome and that later evidence uses the boundary timestamp.
Identify outcomes left behind src/lib/outcomeChip.ts, src/lib/outcomeChip.test.ts
leftBehind identifies outcomes before the newest matching /clear, /new, /reset, or /resume command. Tests cover matching, non-matching, and empty inputs.
Filter outcomes after a history switch src/components/ChatView.tsx, scripts/chat-outcome-note-browser-qa.ts, changelog.d/chat-compact-clear-chips.md
ChatView filters recorded left-behind outcomes for the incoming history. Browser QA verifies that /clear remains visible while /compact does not. The changelog describes the two behavior changes.
Issue 2548: The changes address the /compact evidence timing and stale outcome visibility after /clear. The reopened Markdown image jump is outside this change.

The move's cutoff was the set of outcome ids the chat held when it saw the new history. A send
to the old history that a later poll listed first was not in that set, and still showed. With
no tracked /clear (one typed in the terminal), every held outcome was hidden for as long as that
history showed, also a send already made to the new history.
afterMove (lib/outcomeChip.ts) now takes the newest /clear, /new, /reset or /resume in the held
list, or in the first list after it once the list changes, and leaves out every send before it
by the server's send times. With no such command, the held list stays hidden only until a poll
brings another list, which then stands.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01HabHntUPvy5yA9iU3G1m5y
Merging into 0.4.22 (part of #2548, by @jpcarranza94): a Claude /compact chip now says "Done" only once the conversation is compacted (Claude's compact_boundary record after the send), not from the start line Claude Code writes when the command begins; until then it stays "Accepted". After /clear, /new, /reset or /resume, the chips of sends to the conversation left behind no longer show in the new one while herdr has not yet named the new session.
Reviewed by the merge pass: the server change is limited to the Claude transcript evidence for /compact (server/outcome.ts); the rest is client-side (leftBehind in outcomeChip.ts, filtered only while that new history shows). Known limit (as for any command, and as Codex's /compact already ends): a message sent while /compact still runs closes its evidence window, so its chip ends "No result seen". Part 3 of #2548 (reopened Markdown images that jump) stays open in the issue.
Post-merge adversarial review by Codex (gpt-6.1-terra, xhigh, read-only) of this PR's merge commit against current main, run by the merge pass.
Status: no HIGH; the findings below are not yet reproduced by the merge pass. A reproduced user-visible MEDIUM gets one follow-up issue.
MEDIUM — A /compact chip can report another compaction as its result. In server/outcome.ts, any subsequent Claude compact_boundary in the transcript is accepted without establishing that the sent command started or caused it. For example, if Chat sends /compact while Claude is already working and an automatic compaction finishes before that command runs, the chip can say “Done” prematurely. I verified this with a direct CommandReservations invocation: a transcript containing only a boundary, with no /compact start or echo, produced result-observed.
MEDIUM — Resuming an earlier conversation hides its valid command receipts.src/lib/outcomeChip.ts removes every outcome created before the /resume that caused the switch. A concrete case is: send /context in session A, switch to session B, then use /resume to return to A. The server can return A’s /context outcome because its session identity matches, but the client discards it because it predates /resume. Its chip or provisional row stays missing while this history is displayed. This follows from the timestamp filter and the server’s session-based filtering in server/prompt.ts.
MEDIUM — A delayed prompt poll can bring old rows back after /clear.src/components/ChatView.tsx permanently captures the first changed outcome list after a history move, even if that list arrived from a poll started before /clear was recorded. If it contains an updated /compact outcome but no /clear, afterMove treats it as evidence that no move command exists. A subsequent list containing both /compact and /clear is then shown whole, including the old /compact, until the server stops returning it. I verified the sequence by tracing the independent prompt and conversation reads and the moves.length === 0 branch in src/lib/outcomeChip.ts.
MEDIUM — A terminal /clear can expose the previous conversation’s rows. If the currently displayed history already contains a Chat /clear receipt followed by another command, and the user clears from the terminal, the held list still contains that earlier /clear. src/lib/outcomeChip.ts mistakes it for the command that caused the new move and keeps it and every later old outcome. Those rows appear in the newly cleared chat until the server’s session identity catches up. This follows directly from the held-list selection and timestamp comparison; the terminal command itself creates no Chat outcome to supersede the earlier /clear.
The targeted Bun tests could not start: their preload attempted to write the isolated herdr test setup on the read-only filesystem. The direct server-side reproduction above ran successfully.
## Release 0.4.22
The release PR, prepared by step 1 of
[docs/development.md#releasing](https://github.com/devswha/ovis/blob/main/docs/development.md#releasing)
on main `41492320` (#2453 the last merge), refreshed to main `99a6671f`
(#2582 the last merge).
**Do not merge yet:** the owner tests main and judges the final build
before release. No tag and no Release run from this PR's author.
- **Version:** `version` is 0.4.22 in `package.json` and
`herdr-plugin.toml`.
- **Changelog:** `bun scripts/changelog-fold.ts 0.4.22` (2026-10-31,
local) folded 20 fragments into the 2026-10-31 section of `CHANGELOG.md`
(23 entries with the hand entry), linked their PRs and deleted the
fragments; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
- `by @login` on every outside contributor's PR link: #2453@jokkopucko,
#2452@jokkopucko, #2442@nahwan-kim, #2463@zerodice0, #2468@Yoonwoo-Ha, #2065@rabbitson87 (both entries), #2466@jpcarranza94,
#2467@jpcarranza94, #2457@YuuuXie, #2420@cheol-95 (both entries),
#2459@Haeminway1, #2450@briantcl1992, #2448@briantcl1992.
- One outside PR had no fragment and got an entry by hand: #2448
(installer test no longer finds the host's Node, Maintenance).
- Issue reporters: #2442's entry credits @Ploppy3, who asked for
herdr-core support in #2439. The other fixed issues were filed by the
PR's own author (#2460@zerodice0, #2464@jpcarranza94, #2419@cheol-95,
#2089@rabbitson87) or the maintainer (#2444), so the PR credit covers
them.
- Two fragments ran past the changelog's width (#2443, #2446); their
entries are re-wrapped, words unchanged.
- Folded after the PR opened (merge of main `653613cb`, by hand per the
release steps): #2474 (Pi Chat message with leading/trailing spaces, a
tab or a trailing `@mention` no longer stuck "waiting for transcript",
Fixed), credited `reported by @BeerBelly69` (he reported issue #2454;
the PR is the maintainer's, so the earlier `by @BeerBelly69` was
corrected in `90536524`). Its fragment is deleted; `changelog.d` holds
only `README.md`. The release summaries are unchanged: their fixed list
is already at five lines.
- Folded in a second refresh (merge of main `98c1f5e0`, by hand): #2475
(a reconnecting or reloading browser gets back its follow-up's lost
"sent" receipt, Fixed), credited `reported by @christso`, who filed
#2421 and proposed the approach. Its fragment is deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`. The release summaries are unchanged (fixed list
already at five lines).
- Folded in a third refresh (merge of main `af20e0a4`, by hand): #2490
(Chat keeps its messages mounted when the pane's skill names load, so a
decoded image no longer drops back to its loading slot, Fixed), credited
`by @nocstah` (outside PR, no linked issue); #2483 (a Copilot turn stays
whole when its pictures pass the page window, Fixed); #2479 (Chat shows
the pictures in a Copilot CLI session, Added); #2482 (Chat shows the
picture attached to a Hermes prompt, Added). #2483, #2479 and #2482 are
maintainer PRs; #2483's issue #2478 is the maintainer's, so no reporter
credit. #2480 (site only) had no fragment. Their fragments are deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The release summaries are
unchanged: the fixed list is already at five lines, and the two new
picture features stay in the changelog only (the new list has room for
them if the owner wants them there).
- Folded in a fourth refresh (merge of main `4ca7d24d`, by hand): #2481
(Grok pictures in Chat), #2477 (svg figures, `reported by @affeek`, who
filed #2441 and co-authored the PR), #2498 (dollar math, `reported by
@kjohnsen`, #2407), #2484 (Expand thinking / Collapse work defaults,
`reported by @altgans and @Ploppy3`, #2346 and #2228) under Added; #2494
(`by @todor-a`), #2491 (`by @nocstah`), #2487, #2486, #2472 (`reported
by @matiemer`, #2462) and #2476 (relay session uses the server's port)
under Fixed. 10 fragments deleted; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
Every entry's credit was re-checked with GraphQL (PR author, closing
issues' authors, commit authors): #2487's #2374, #2486's #2485 and
#2483's #2478 are the maintainer's, so no reporter credit.
- Folded in a fifth refresh (merge of main `f5370d54`, by hand): #2503
(Claude question card steps and Back, `reported and co-authored by
@jpcarranza94`, who filed #2465 and co-authored the fix), #2502 (tab
name from its first message, `reported by @vibewriter-hand`, #2019) and
#2505 (a note on a diff line goes into the next message; #1603 is the
maintainer's, so no credit) under Added; #2506 (OmO, Codex and Hermes
question cards move between questions without answering; it closes no
issue, so no credit) under Fixed. 4 fragments deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`. #2499's hand-written relay entry is kept. All
four PRs are the maintainer's; credits re-checked with GraphQL (PR
author, closing issues' authors, commit authors).
- Sixth refresh (merge of main `feb3ae09`, head `e3b0dc37`): main had no
fragment left to fold. #2504 (the owner's PR, no fragment) gets a hand
entry under Added next to #2499's: the PC side of the relay, which
answers the relay's server proof, `/api/relay` start/stop routes
restricted to the owner and to direct connections, and a relay QR from
`plugin pair`; off by default with no Settings switch yet. No credit
(maintainer PR). It stays out of the release summaries (off by default,
no UI).
- Seventh refresh (merge of main `a683e3ff`, head `7855c73c`): folded
#2509's two fragments by hand, two entries under Added (the phone side
of the relay: the hosted shell that pairs from the PC's relay QR and
opens the app end-to-end encrypted; files and chat images through the
relay) and one under Fixed (the iOS and Android apps no longer show the
hosted shell's home-screen hint). Each says the relay is off by default.
#2499's entry now says Ovis uses the relay only once a PC's relay link
is started. No credit (maintainer PR). The fragments are deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The relay stays out of the release
summaries.
- Eighth refresh (merge of main `0b215abf`, head `f76f3ae4`): folded
#2514's three fragments by hand under Fixed (relay connection limits and
the 30 s wait for an absent PC, proof of the PC's relay key, the hosted
shell's copy-on-select and relay-control requests) and added a hand
entry for #2514 under Added: remote access through the Ovis relay can be
turned on in **Settings → Phone & devices** (off by default), with the
iOS and Android apps opening a relay-paired PC from its link;
app.ovis.sh is deployed separately. #2499, #2504 and #2509's entries no
longer say there is no Settings switch: they now say the relay is turned
on in Settings. No credit (maintainer PR). Also folded #2511 (Claude
task-list scan on file workers, Fixed, `by @duytbp`) and #2518 (feedback
typed on Claude Code's plan card keeps Claude planning, Fixed, `by
@jpcarranza94`, who also reported #2517, so no separate reporter
credit). #2515 is docs only, no fold. 5 fragments deleted; `changelog.d`
holds only `README.md`.
- Ninth refresh (merge of main `fbb97b62`, head `44048d5f`, fold in the
merge commit): folded 23 fragments by hand: 7 entries under Added
(#2514's rewritten relay-identity entry, which replaces its old Fixed
entry about the PC's relay key; #2519 Letta model pill `by @homebodify`;
#2522 relay bulk window and the relay overview, self-hosting and
hosted-shell attestation; #2524 DeepSeek Harness in the catalog), 3
under Changed (#2533 Connect a phone dialog and the `tailscale serve`
box; #2539 chat pictures shown whole) and 26 under Fixed: #2508; #2512
`by @lifeofpi-ux`; #2516; #2521, #2526, #2531, #2538, #2541, #2543,
#2545, #2547, #2549 and #2551 `by @jpcarranza94`; #2527 `reported by
@duytbp` (#2510); #2532; #2535 `reported by @devtm1123` (#2513). #2532's
#2523 is the maintainer's; @jpcarranza94's issues (#2525, #2537, #2540,
#2542, #2544, #2546, #2548, #2550) are covered by his PR credit. #2529
(perf) is not merged and stays out of 0.4.22. 23 fragments deleted;
`changelog.d` holds only `README.md`.
- Tenth refresh (merge of main `afdfb1e0`, head `1cfcfab7`, fold in the
merge commit), on the owner's OK for both: folded #2567 (Connect a phone
shows three choice cards and opens on the relay whenever it is offered,
with the relay's switch on its card on a tailnet; maintainer PR, no
credit) under Changed and #2555 (the New workspace folder picker's
compact row; `by @iwangjie`, no linked issue) under Fixed. 2 fragments
deleted; `changelog.d` holds only `README.md`. The IMPROVED summary line
now says the relay needs no Tailscale, in en, ko, ja and zh.
- Eleventh refresh (merge of main `2b620462`, head `13fa0181`, fold in
the merge commit), on the owner's go for each: folded 13 entries from 12
fragments by hand. Changed: #2562 (a chat starts loading when the press
begins, `by @jpcarranza94`), #2574 (Quote a selection into the message
box), #2578 (the relay's switch, reset and failures only in Connect a
phone). Fixed: #2564 and #2560 (two entries) `by @jpcarranza94`; #2554

- Twelfth refresh (merge of main `64ae5e72`, head `3ae2133e`), on Dori's
go: folded #2580 under Fixed (the Cloudflare relay closes both ends of a

- **Remote bundle:** `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` rises from 40 to 41 because
the bundle inputs (`server/`, `shared/`, `bun.lock`) changed since
remote-v40. After merge: push `remote-v41` on the merged commit and wait
for the Remote PC bundles workflow before running Release.
- **Telemetry:** `telemetry/worker.ts` and `shared/telemetry.ts` are
unchanged since `telemetry/deployed.json`; no Worker deploy.
## Validation
- `bun scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21`: before the bump it
asked to raise `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` from 40 to 41 and nothing else;
after it, "Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release
metadata are in order."
- `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel0422 -- bun run check fast` on this
branch: workflow syntax, generated types and themes, typecheck, build,
unit tests all ok. Unit: 9827 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 623 files.
- After folding #2474 (head `3de63b49`): `bun scripts/release-guards.ts

- After folding #2490, #2483, #2479 and #2482 (head `0da3756d`;
`e6eb7df6` removed the fragments and `0da3756d` adds their CHANGELOG
entries, which that commit left out): `bun scripts/release-guards.ts

- After the fourth refresh (head `af31fa98`): `bun
scripts/release-guards.ts --base v0.4.21` and `--base origin/main` both
"Release 0.4.22: remote bundle, telemetry Worker and release metadata
are in order." main still has `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` 40 (no commit

both release guards "in order" (`--base v0.4.21` and `--base
origin/main`); `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473l -- bun run check

release-notes tests 52 pass.
- After the thirteenth refresh (head `aebaabbf`, merge of main

`--base origin/main`); `UNIT_TEST_WORKERS=4 dori heavy rel2473m -- bun
run check fast` all ok, unit 10553 pass, 0 fail, 41 skip in 656 files;
release-notes tests 52 pass.
- Not run: `bun run check full` (integration and browser), left to CI;
no hands-on test of main, which is the owner's.
This is a release-metadata PR: it changes no code path. Per the release
steps, merge it after CI and the owner's go, then push `remote-v41`,
wait for its bundles, and run Release with `0.4.22`.

…act, /clear and /resume (#2734)
Fixes#2591
## Change
Follow-ups from the post-merge review of #2549: the four cases in the
issue, each reproduced on `main` (0e92eac) before the fix.
1. **An automatic compaction no longer makes a queued Claude `/compact`
Done** (`server/outcome.ts`). A `compact_boundary` whose
`compactMetadata.trigger` is `"auto"` is a fold Claude made on its own,
not the result of the `/compact` sent from Chat. Only a boundary that is
not marked `auto` counts. Claude Code writes `"manual"` for `/compact`;
a boundary without the field still counts, as before.
2. **A `/resume` back to an earlier conversation keeps that
conversation's chips** (`src/lib/outcomeChip.ts` `afterMove`). The sends
before the move were all dropped. Now a send the chat did not hold at
the move, whose turn is in the conversation shown, stays: the `/resume`
went back to it. A send to the conversation left behind has no turn
there and stays hidden.
3. **A poll that answers before `/clear` is listed no longer sets the
move** (`moveCommand`). The move was taken from the first changed list,
so a list from a poll begun before the `/clear` (with no session change
in it) became the sticky reference, and the cleared chat showed
`/compact`. Now the move is the newest session change in the held list,
else the oldest one in a later list, kept once found.
4. **A `/clear` typed in the terminal no longer shows the left
conversation's rows**. The chat's earlier Chat `/clear` (the one that
brought it into that conversation) was taken as the move out of it, so
its later sends showed in the new, empty chat. ChatView now remembers
the session changes that brought the chat to a history (those in the
pane's first poll, and each move it already made), and `moveCommand`
skips them; with none left, the held list is all the old conversation's,
as before.
Reference app: Claude Code itself. A cleared or resumed conversation
shows only that conversation's own history.
## Validation
- Red on `main` 0e92eac, green here:
- `server/outcome.test.ts` "does not call a queued Claude /compact done
on an automatic compaction": on main `Expected: "accepted"`, `Received:
"result-observed"`.
- Findings 2-4 with a scratch test that feeds `afterMove` ChatView's
inputs and runs `outcomeRows`: on main 0 of 3 pass (`turn0:-` for the
resumed `/context`; `sent:compact, sent:clear`; `sent:clear,
sent:context`). The same cases are now in `src/lib/outcomeChip.test.ts`
(`afterMove` describe, updated to the new signature).
- `bun test src/lib/outcomeChip.test.ts src/lib/chatRows.test.ts
server/outcome.test.ts server/outcome-compaction.test.ts`: 151 pass.
- `bun scripts/chat-outcome-note-browser-qa.ts`: 7 PASS (including both
`/clear` cases from #2549).
- `bun run typecheck`: clean.
- `bun run check fast` on the merged head (main 0e92eac+ merged in):
exit 0.

Fixes#2548
## Change
Parts 1 and 2 of #2548 (the `/compact` and `/clear` chips) were fixed by
#2549. This PR fixes part 3: a reopened chat redrew each standalone
Markdown image from the lane-wide 16:9 loading slot, then the stat and
the new download moved everything below it to the image's real height.
- `src/components/ChatMarkdownImages.tsx`: the chat's image resolver
remembers the natural size each image decoded at, per PC, pane and
source (bounded, 500), through optional `size` and `remember` hooks on
the resolver.
- `src/components/Markdown.tsx`: a standalone `MarkdownImage` passes
that size to `ReservedImage`, whose loading slot then takes the image's
own box instead of 16:9; `ReservedImage` reports the natural size once
decoded (`onDecoded`). Nothing else is reused: no bytes load and the
viewer cannot open until the new stat answers and passes the same size
and type checks as before.
- `src/components/ChatView.css`: `.image-slot.is-loading.is-sized` lays
the slot out as `.markdown-image` lays the decoded image out: `min(100%,
authored or natural width, height bound x ratio)`, the image's ratio,
the same `--chat-image-max-h` bound.
Chat thumbnails, tool images and file previews (no `size`) are
unchanged. The settled look is unchanged; only the loading box of an
image seen before differs. Design: as in t3code's ChatMarkdown (which
`lib/imageBox.ts` already follows), the box is reserved before the bytes
arrive; this reserves the known size instead of a generic ratio.
## Reproduction (origin/main 9390fa1)
`scripts/chat-markdown-images-browser-qa.ts` has a new case: a
standalone image decodes, the answer is mounted again (as a reopen or a
row scrolling back in), and the stat and bytes answer only after five
frames of the new mount. The top of the paragraph below the image, by
frame:
- main: `266.47 x5, then 127.09` (16:9 slot, then the real height):
fails.
- this branch: `127.09` in every frame: passes. Also checked by hand
inside `.chat-transcript` with a 240x3000 image at 1280x800 (height
bound hit): slot and decoded image are both 45x560 CSS px (0.05 px
sub-pixel difference in the text below).
## Validation
- `bun run check fast`: green (typecheck, build, unit 11046 pass / 0
fail).
- `bun scripts/chat-markdown-images-browser-qa.ts`: 5/5 PASS; the new
case fails on main.
- `bun test src/components/ChatMarkdownImages.test.ts`: 17 pass; the new
test (a remount holds the remembered box, loads no bytes before the new
stat, stats once; another pane does not share it) fails on main.
- Skipped: `bun run check full` (the browser QA above is part of CI's
browser job).

Change
Part of #2548: this PR fixes the /compact and /clear chips (F28, F29). The image rows that jump on a reopen stay open in the issue.
This PR fixes parts 1 and 2 of the issue. Part 3 (reopened Markdown images that jump) is not in it. The issue describes it as known and open.
A Claude
/compactchip says "Done" once the conversation is compacted. Claude Code writes/compactas a plain user line when the command starts. The server took that line as the result, so the chip read "Done · transcript" for the whole compaction (49 s in one run).server/outcome.ts(transcriptEvidence): for a Claude/compact, only acompact_boundaryrecord after the send is the result. The start line and the<command-name>echo are not. Until the boundary, the chip stays "Accepted"./compactstill runs closes/compact's evidence window, as for any command. Its chip then ends "No result seen". A Codex/compactchip already ends this way. After
/clear, the chat shows no row of the conversation it left. The conversation read moves to the new history before the next prompt poll. The last poll's outcomes stayed, andoutcomeRowsdrew the old/compactas a sent row in the new, empty chat.src/lib/outcomeChip.ts:afterMove(outcomes, held, first)gives the outcomes of the conversation the chat moved to. The newest/clear,/new,/resetor/resumemade the move. It is taken from the list the chat held when it saw the move, or from the first list after it once the list changes. A later one did not move the chat. Every send before it is left out, by the server's send times, also one that a later poll lists first. With no such command (a/cleartyped in the terminal), the held list is left out until a poll brings another list. That list then stands, because it tells no old send from a new one. The command list is the server'ssessionChangetest (server/prompt.ts).src/components/ChatView.tsx: on a history switch that is no continuation, the chat keeps the outcomes it holds and the first list after them, and showsafterMoveof the polled outcomes while that history shows. The server lists the old sends until herdr names the new session, which can be a poll after the read. So a lagging answer cannot draw them either./clearrow and its "No result seen" stay as they are: a session change is no proof that the command completed (server/prompt.ts).Reference app: Claude Code itself. Its own UI shows a compaction as running until the summary is written, and
/clearstarts from an empty screen with nothing of the conversation before it.The open PRs #2543 and #2545 also change
src/components/ChatView.tsx. Their hunks do not touch these lines. #2545 changes the 409 path in the same conversation read, a few lines above the history switch.Validation
