Summary

#7317 moved every integration lookup from integration_connections to the new connections table and shipped without moving the existing rows. It reached production on 19 September at 20:56 UTC with connections empty, so all 2,393 live integrations read as disconnected: 1,658 Linear, 682 Slack, 28 Google, 23 Notion, 1 Sentry, 1 Teams. Linear webhook deliveries logging No active connections went from 2% of requests (old deployment, just before) to 92% (new deployment). The handler answers 200, so Linear does not retry them.

This adds the backfill, a manual workflow to run it, and fixes the one reader #7317 left on the old table.

What it does

  • legacyConnectionRow (packages/trpc/src/lib/connectors/legacy.ts) maps an old row to the row a fresh connect would write.
    • Keeps the id: automation_events dedupes on it, and Linear, Gmail and Calendar build event and resource keys from it. A new id would make past deliveries look new.
    • Moves old config to state unchanged: Linear newTasksTeamId (1,379 rows), Google watch channels and sync tokens, the Teams clientState that live Graph subscriptions echo back, Sentry installationUuid.
    • Seals both tokens. The new table stores ciphertext and decryptSecret throws on plaintext.
    • Takes scope and auth method from the connector definitions; lowercases Google addresses, which the Gmail push lookup matches exactly.
    • User-scoped rows need an external_user_id the old table never held. It comes from user_identities where the old connect flow recorded one (Google 28 of 28, Notion 23 of 23, Linear 293, Slack 112), otherwise from the Superset user id, the fallback the Slack callback already uses. No reader uses that column for these connectors and a reconnect replaces it.
  • packages/trpc/scripts/backfill-connections.ts: dry run unless --apply. Skips rows already copied and owners who have reconnected since, so a lookup never finds two live rows. Refuses to run without SECRETS_ENCRYPTION_KEY. Reads every written token back through decryptSecret and exits 1 if any differs. Inserts directly rather than through upsertConnection, which rejects an external account already connected to another organization; 120 Linear workspaces legitimately are.
  • .github/workflows/backfill-connections.yml: manual dispatch, production environment, dry run unless apply is ticked. The encryption key exists only as a GitHub secret, so this is where it has to run.
  • Slack thread-sessions now resolves the team through accountConnection. It still read the old table and would have stopped resolving any workspace connected after feat(plugins): dynamic OAuth clients, plus Notion, Slack and Gmail #7317.

Testing

12 unit tests on the mapping. Rehearsed on a Neon branch of production (2,865 old rows, connections empty, a throwaway key):

Check Result
Dry run Counts match production exactly, nothing written
Apply 2,865 of 2,865 written, 0 conflicts, 0 tokens failing to read back
Apply again 0 to copy, 2,865 already copied
SQL comparison with the old table 0 differences in id, org, user, connector, state, account id and label, token expiry, refresh token presence; 0 plaintext tokens; 0 user-scoped rows without an external user id; 0 lookup ambiguities
Production lookup and decrypt code over every row (connectionById, accountConnections, userConnection / orgConnection, connectionSecrets) 2,865 checked, 2,393 live, no failures
Same check after corrupting two rows on purpose Reports both
Delete 23 rows, run again Copies exactly those 23
Clean checkout, no .env, frozen install, only the workflow's variables, bash -e Runs; exits 1 without the key

One known difference: created_at, updated_at and disconnected_at lose sub-millisecond precision passing through JavaScript dates. token_expires_at is exact. Nothing reads those at that precision.

Rollout

  1. Merge. Deploy Production is disabled, so this deploys nothing by itself.
  2. Run Backfill Connections with apply unchecked and compare its counts with the table above.
  3. Run it again with apply checked.
  4. Deploy main, which carries the thread-sessions fix, and re-enable Deploy Production.

Events dropped between the cutover and the backfill are not recoverable from Linear's side.

Summary by cubic

Backfills existing integration connections into the new connections table and fixes the Slack thread-sessions reader that still used the old table.

Backfill script and workflow

  • Adds packages/trpc/scripts/backfill-connections.ts with a dry run by default and a manual GitHub Actions workflow to run it against production.
  • Maps each legacy row to the new schema: keeps the id, moves config to state, seals tokens, and derives the external user id from user_identities or falls back to the Superset user id.
  • Skips rows already copied and owners who reconnected since, and verifies every token decrypts after writing.

Slack reader fix

  • thread-sessions now resolves the team through accountConnection instead of the old integration_connections table.

Written for commit 9bd4f9c. Summary will update on new commits.

…reads

#7317 moved every integration lookup from integration_connections to the new
connections table and shipped without moving the rows. It reached production
on 19 September with connections empty, so all 2,393 live integrations (1,658
Linear, 682 Slack, 28 Google, 23 Notion, one Sentry, one Teams) read as
disconnected. Linear deliveries logging "No active connections" went from 2%
of requests to 92% at the cutover, and the handler answers 200, so Linear does
not retry them.

legacyConnectionRow maps an old row to the row a fresh connect would write.
The id is kept, because automation_events dedupes on it and Linear, Gmail and
Calendar build event and resource keys from it. The old config moves to state
unchanged, which carries Linear's newTasksTeamId, Google's watch channels and
sync tokens, the Teams clientState that live Graph subscriptions echo back, and
Sentry's installationUuid. Both tokens are sealed, since the new table stores
ciphertext and decryptSecret throws on plaintext. Scope and auth method come
from the connector definitions. User-scoped rows need an external user id the
old table never held: it comes from user_identities where the old connect flow
recorded one, and otherwise from the Superset user id, the fallback the Slack
callback already uses. No reader uses that column for these connectors and a
reconnect replaces it.

Rows go in directly rather than through upsertConnection, which rejects an
external account already connected to another organization; 120 Linear
workspaces legitimately are. The script reports what it would do unless passed
--apply, skips rows already copied and owners who have reconnected since, so a
lookup never finds two live rows, refuses to run without
SECRETS_ENCRYPTION_KEY, and reads every written token back through
decryptSecret. That key exists only as a GitHub secret, so it runs from a
manually dispatched workflow in the production environment, a dry run by
default.

Also moves slack thread-sessions onto accountConnection. It was the one reader
#7317 left on the old table, and would have stopped resolving any workspace
connected after it.

Rehearsed on a Neon branch of production: 2,865 of 2,865 rows written, a second
run copies nothing, and a field-by-field comparison with the old table finds no
difference beyond created_at, updated_at and disconnected_at losing
sub-millisecond precision through JavaScript dates. The production lookup and
decrypt code finds and opens every row, and does report a row corrupted on
purpose.

The backfill can either stop before restoring all connections or retain invalid migrated records that reruns skip. These production migration risks should be fixed before merge.

Skip existing IDs before mapping the legacy row.

legacyConnectionRow runs before the already-copied check. An already-copied legacy row with a missing externalOrgId or undefined connector aborts the complete backfill even though the script must skip that row.

Check copiedIds before calling legacyConnectionRow.

Roll back inserts when read-back validation fails.

Each batch commits before the script validates token decryption. If validation fails, the script exits with an error but leaves the invalid rows in connections. A rerun then skips those IDs as already copied.

Run the inserts and read-back validation in one transaction. Throw inside the transaction when a token is unreadable or an expected insert conflicts.

Current source wins over PR descriptions: page ordering is newest-created first, search includes description, default CLI output remains a bare array, and the leaderboard automatically backfills since launch (there is no history-range picker). Slack thread commands and Mobile settings retain their availability qualifications. No assumption that every merged fix is already in the latest download.

- [#7608](#7608) fix(sandbox): the release probe checks the display from inside the box: Internal build, tests, migration, developer tooling, or recovery plumbing; no new user-facing instructions.
- [#7606](#7606) fix(relay): tolerate slow connections with coordinated deadlines: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7605](#7605) fix(desktop): drop duplicate create-workspace submits while one is in flight: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7603](#7603) fix(desktop): preserve translation context for route errors: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7601](#7601) feat(mobile): let the workspace list scroll under a transparent header: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7598](#7598) fix(desktop): keep viewport emulation on a crashed browser pane from crashing the app: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7597](#7597) fix(host-service): pin git's diff prefixes so the Changes pane can parse every patch: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7593](#7593) fix(api): post the Slack agent's reply after its run budget is spent: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7587](#7587) fix(desktop): keep new sidebar group orders on the integer lane: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7582](#7582) fix(api): bound every Slack agent call by the run budget: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7581](#7581) feat(api): Slack agent foundation — shared handler, execution guard, thread window, model and output fixes: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.
- [#7573](#7573) feat(pages): publish without a workspace: Standalone publishing is already documented in pages.mdx; preserved that guidance and included its contract in the new CLI/MCP reference.
- [#7255](#7255) fix(host-service): preserve consumed Claude prompts in handoffs: Reliability or visual fix restores expected behavior; no new workflow or necessary workaround to document.

## Validation

- bun install: passed; no tracked dependency changes.
- bun run lint:fix: passed, no code fixes.
- bun run lint: passed.
- bun run --cwd apps/docs typecheck: passed.
- Vale on all 16 changed docs: zero errors and warnings. Small pre-existing prose violations in touched pages were corrected to satisfy the SOP.
- git diff --check: passed.

Only apps/docs/content/docs/ and the required append-only root TODO log are included. No push or PR.

37 PRs drove changes; 66 were deliberately skipped as separate documentation work.

* docs: correct stale claims and consolidate weekly updates

Replace outdated remote-port and privacy claims, correct the 90-day leaderboard backfill cap and link settings location, and describe credential use and comment-watch registration accurately. Consolidate iPhone requirements and troubleshooting, trim repeated Pages prose, and keep launch effort details in the CLI reference.

Remove the #7764 startup entry because it does not identify a fixed release and its upgrade instructions are too vague. This supersedes that item in the original PR audit. Validate with docs typecheck, lint:fix, lint, Vale (zero errors or warnings), and git diff --check.

* docs: trim repeated explanations across user guides

* docs: clarify iPhone cloud workspace requirements
