fix(mobile): use H.264 for iOS previews and keep Close reachable - #28622
The mobile simulator viewer forced iOS targets onto MJPEG, and connecting input hid Close behind a grabber that did not support dragging. Let the shared client choose supported H.264 with its existing MJPEG fallback. Keep controls visible on connection and input loss, and leave explicit Close and Show controls buttons when hidden.
This changes mobile transport selection and fullscreen controls only. No server capture settings, shared decoder policy or provider behavior changes. Focused issue-watch fix authorized by Shivam.
Current head 010989c941be4b3c2acbd787dbdd45ed357302a0 is rebased onto base 8b44f42b14c8e273156474a924ccf29680dd7857. Both patches are identical after the rebase. Main still has both original bugs. Final-head Android recording, runtime output, checks and base-impact review cover the new Android chat wrapper and device entry, visible controls, Hide/Show, hidden Close, reopening and system Back. The cached native client remains compatible. No behavior in this change depends on Release mode.
The preceding iOS and F4 verification at 62825bb keeps its exact commit label. The scoped source review explains why it still covers iOS at this head: the new wrapper returns the same children on iOS, the transform change is Android-only, and the transport, WebView and fullscreen controls are unchanged. The new F4 reopen confirms successful H.264 avc1.640033 decode/draw at 1170×2532. Startup still requests MJPEG before H.264. The preceding smoke retains two iOS decoder-overload recoveries and one F4 recovery. These checks support transport selection and reachable controls. They do not establish stable latency or uninterrupted playback. The linked comments include runtime events and the recordings.
The comparisons below are historical at head 1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369 and base cefb544af3c98224874419198c0359b652ca3c94.
The head has803 sampled content changes versus627 on main, and178 versus45 while input is active. These are sampled content changes, not presentationFPS. Eligible local input-marker-to-motion proxy medians were142ms on head and367ms on main, with20 and21 eligible samples respectively. These selected recording proxies have unknown marker paint delay and do not establish causal or stable latency improvement. Head retains one missing-input attempt out of24 and two decoder-overload recoveries, about2.37s and1.92s to the streaming signal. Main retains two responses exceeding the local2second window, both visible within5seconds. Neither run had a WebCodecs decoder error. The full recordings and per-attempt results retain failures and censored trials.
Historical 1c43548 iOS native controls recording, AVCC/decoder runtime output, review and analysis commands. An iPhone18Pro simulator client on iOS27 views the same separate iPhone17e target. Standard client fingerprint 887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3. The real file-origin WebView fetched AVCC200 and decoded/drew native1170×2532 H.264 with zero retries or decoder errors. This does not reproduce CodeRabbit's development-CORS concern; the WebView already enables universal file-origin access. No CORS/auth policy was changed.
Before on iOS, connected controls leave only a grabber. This baseline image is historical base 8760d063e903406c8e8f695b0852c0a15fc1e00f.
After at historical head 1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369, hiding controls keeps explicit Close and Show controls visible.
Current validation output: vp run check:changed --concurrency 1 and all 31 focused device/stream cases passed at 010989c. Independent base-impact/source review found no production blocker. Required CI passes or is a configured skip at this head. Earlier validation, including its retained worker-start timeout remains historical. The cleanup nit is fixed; real native captures cover controls per repository guidance.
Unproven: stable or causal latency improvement, physical iPhone behavior, relay bandwidth/latency, Android Release performance, complete presentationFPS, other decoder implementations, tablet/fold layouts and physical-device shake. New H.264 use can invoke the shared decoder's overload recovery on Android, as recorded above; this PR does not change that policy.
Implemented with Opus5.5 in Claude Code. Investigated, tested and reviewed with gpt-6.1-sol in Codex.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This changes the default iOS preview streaming path from forced MJPEG to H.264 when supported, and keeps controls visible on connection. These product-default changes require human review, although MJPEG fallback and explicit Close access remain available.

Walkthrough
The iOS simulator viewer now passes its original configuration to the shared stream client. Browser tests cover AVCC streaming with WebCodecs and the MJPEG fallback. The device preview also changes when controls appear and replaces the hidden-controls handle with a close button and a pill.
The viewer passes its original configuration to the shared client. Tests check AVCC requests, avc1.640033 configuration and a hidden image when WebCodecs is supported, and the MJPEG image when it is not.
Input disconnection now shows controls. The hidden-controls handle is replaced by a GlassSurface with a close button and a “Show device controls” pill.

This browser test uses afterEach. Put stop(), timer restoration, and global restoration in a finally block around each table case. That preserves cleanup when an assertion fails. As per coding guidelines, browser tests allow “No lifecycle hooks.” (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Remove the afterEach lifecycle hook and move stop(), timer restoration, and
global restoration into a finally block within each table-driven test case, so
cleanup runs even when that case’s assertions fail.
Add a rendered-controls test for connect and disconnect.
DevicePreviewScreen changes control visibility from input state, and no test covers that path. Add one test that:
Connects input and asserts that "Hide device controls" is rendered.
Hides controls through "Hide device controls" and asserts that "Show device controls" is rendered.
Disconnects input and asserts that the full visible controls return. Assert that "Close device preview" is rendered and that "Show device controls" is absent. Do not assert "Hide device controls" here, because it renders only while input is connected.
Assert on rendered controls, not on a mocked onInputConnected call.

Addressed CodeRabbit's review on head f70357c02190b3028e1fa431d5490e50b60caf56.
R1, nit, fixed. Each viewer test now uses try/finally for stream, timer and global cleanup, including when setup or an assertion throws.
R2, nit, declined. The connection, Hide/Show and disconnection transitions were exercised in the real native clients. The attached iOS recording shows Hide, an injected input outage revealing the full controls, recovery, and Reload stream. The PR body already contains the iOS and Android connection and Hide/Show recordings. A mocked native-screen test here would mainly duplicate callback-to-state wiring, which the testing guidance excludes.
Both production viewer files and the shared stream client are unchanged from the recorded head 43edc9abe86705eca90ff335edcd6a74b5005bad, so that device evidence applies to this test-only revision. No relay speedup or physical-iPhone verification is claimed.

The recording uses the iPhone 17 simulator on iOS 27 and matching cached native development client 887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3. The outage was injected into the input socket; it was not a spontaneous network failure.
The follow-up iOS verification now uses the real local Mac device hub and native-resolution capture on both main 8760d063e903406c8e8f695b0852c0a15fc1e00f and final head f70357c02190b3028e1fa431d5490e50b60caf56. The same pool-leased iPhone 17 target, iOS 27 viewer and disposable backend were used for both. T3 Dev 2.2.0/1 used cached native fingerprint 887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3; the native inputs are unchanged between the two commits.
On main, the viewer loaded the MJPEG image at 1206×2622 from an HTTP 200 multipart/x-mixed-replace response. It performed no VideoDecoder configurations or decoding. Tapping General in the streamed Settings app changed the target.
main-native-short.mp4
On the PR head, the viewer fetched AVCC with HTTP 200, accepted avc1.640033, decoded to the canvas at 1206×2622, and presented the interactive stream. During 25 alternating scroll commands over 125.111 seconds, the complete counter samples cover 123.491 seconds and show:
The sustained command was python3 scratch/sustain.py; it drove the returned agent-device command with scroll up 0.55 and scroll down 0.55 on the viewer session for 125.111176167 seconds. All 25 scroll commands returned exit 0. The measured decoder sample window was 2026-11-01T12:18:22.684Z through 2026-11-01T12:20:26.175Z. The recording is a 29.967-second excerpt from that run, encoded as H.264 without resizing.
The real local expo-device-hub 0.19.1 and its unchanged serve-sim native addon supplied the capture through T3's normal proxy and input socket. Native defaults remained 60 MJPEG FPS, JPEG quality 0.7, maximum dimension 0, H.264 FPS 60 and bitrate 6000000. A task-only preload redirected the hub process to the leased pool's CoreSimulator device set; it did not change global simulator settings. The observation patch forwarded original fetch, decoder and draw arguments without selecting transport or rescaling frames. The head's auxiliary MJPEG priming fetch is expected; there were zero MJPEG image-load events on the head.
This establishes sustained native-resolution decoding in this iOS simulator setup. It does not establish physical-iPhone behavior, continuous-motion FPS or relay performance. The new POCO main-versus-head comparison is still outstanding, so this comment does not restore the ready report. Test processes and iOS leases from the completed run were cleaned up.
Completed the missing POCO main/head transport comparison for f70357c02190b3028e1fa431d5490e50b60caf56. The iOS main/head comparison and sustained native-resolution result are in #28622 (comment).
POCO F4 (22021211RI), Android 14, System WebView Chrome 156.0.8078.47, enrolled T3 Code Dev client, native fingerprint 971743703b097b8870b39ff842d130f50b115eeb. vp run mobile:install android c39d2814 returned compatible; no native rebuild. Baseline is actual main 8760d063e903406c8e8f695b0852c0a15fc1e00f; after is actual PR head above. Each ran its own Metro bundle with --clear, a fresh app launch, and a distinct diagnostic label.
The target is a pool-leased iPhone 17, iOS 27, running Settings on shiv. The backend uses the real local expo-device-hub 0.19.1 and unchanged native serve-sim capture through the normal T3 proxy (hostId=local, no serveSimOnly). It retained the native 1206×2622 capture and existing default capture settings. Backend device code and shared stream client match between these two commits. The same process-only device-set redirect and observation probe as the linked iOS report were used. The probe changes only its run label and collector URL; it observes fetch, image load, decoder output and canvas presentation without changing transport, decoder configuration or quality.
Connection: POCO localhost 18387, via adb reverse and an SSH local forward to this disposable Mac backend. Localhost gives Android WebView a secure context with WebCodecs. This is a local transport test, not T3 Connect or relay evidence. No account login or real agent turn.
Before: tap General and scroll in the streamed Settings app. The last frames show the General transition. MJPEG image loaded at native size; no decoder was configured.
android-main.mp4
After: controls start visible; hiding them retains Close and Show controls. Scrolls and a Back tap change the streamed target. H.264 is actually decoded and drawn at native size, not merely accepted by isConfigSupported. The recording includes the overload interruptions described below.

Android limitation: rapid scrolling reached the existing AVCC decode-queue guard three times, at 14.414, 26.134 and 29.128 seconds. Each automatically resumed streaming after 1.388, 1.146 and 1.152 seconds. Input stayed connected. Logcat identifies OMX.qcom.video.decoder.avc in this app. This H.264 path is newly enabled for mobile iOS targets by this PR; these interruptions must not be described as an unchanged Android experience. The workloads differ, so this comparison proves transport selection, interaction and recovery, not a speedup, regression in measured throughput, smooth scrolling or sustained motion FPS.
The head also primes input with an MJPEG request; zero head image loads plus actual H.264 decoder/canvas counts establish that it did not display MJPEG. Baseline MJPEG is assigned directly to <img> after the initial probe request is aborted, so its load event is the output proof.

Independent Codex evidence review: no new blocker or should-level finding for the stated supported-H.264 and reachable-Close claims; disclose Android recoveries and avoid a performance claim.
Unproven: physical iPhone performance, actual relay bandwidth/latency, continuous-motion FPS, other Android decoder implementations, tablet/fold layouts and shake on physical hardware. The separate iOS native-resolution sustained run decoded/presented 1429 frames over 123.491 seconds with zero decoder/configuration errors or overload recoveries, as documented in the linked report.
The matched native-client scrolling comparison is complete for main 8760d063e903406c8e8f695b0852c0a15fc1e00f and head f70357c02190b3028e1fa431d5490e50b60caf56. It verifies the transport change. It does not establish a stable latency improvement: iOS timing estimates overlap, while POCO shows more responsive content between repeated decoder-overload interruptions.
Both clients viewed the real local Mac simulator capture through T3's normal proxy at 1206×2622, with capture defaults unchanged. Both started at the top of Settings > General, with controls folded, and attempted 24 alternating 400 ms drags, one every five seconds for 120 seconds. Normalized coordinates were x=.5, y=.775 to .225 and reverse. iOS used the returned agent-device command, gesture pan 201 677 0 -480 400 and its reverse. POCO used agentos swipe, x=540, y=1843 to 556 and reverse, ms=400. Actual DOM timing, rather than scheduled time, defines each input window.

These counts come from native video pixels with the same motion detector and content ROI, not decoder callbacks or image-load events. Recorders have variable sampling cadence and miss presentations. The POCO head's missing swipe remains an interruption, rather than a valid zero-update drag. Comparing the same 23 delivered gesture indices still gives 1 versus 90 updates. Reconnect windows remain in the evidence.

Total full static gaps exceeding 100 ms during drags are 1063.33/380.33 ms, but other cadence measures move in the opposite direction. This is an inconclusive local lag comparison, not a speedup claim. Separate screenshot trials also produced overlapping, excessively broad bounds, with median bounds 0–1227.5/0–1231.5 ms.
On POCO main, the first content change appears about 24.3 seconds into the workload. The first four swipes have no visible response before the next five-second attempt. Later motion often has the wrong direction for the current swipe, so assigning it a causal per-swipe latency would be misleading. On head, all 23 delivered drags have a subsequent change in the requested direction and no preceding motion in the prior 500 ms. Their first-recorded-motion proxy is median 237.93 ms, p95 577.36 ms. The sampling bracket is median 41.36 ms and maximum 191.28 ms. These observations establish a substantial visible-response difference in this run, with the interruptions below. They do not establish a causal latency ratio or stable smoothness improvement.
The POCO head shows five Video decoder fell behind. Reconnecting… interruptions. All retries returned HTTP 200 and recovered automatically. Native reconnecting screens occupy about 8.48 seconds in total; one swipe at 85 seconds never reaches the WebView. Input timing and missing events were checked across every barrier, including after the interruption.

The iOS native client was T3 Dev 2.2.0/1, fingerprint 887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3, on iPhone 17/iOS 27 on shiv. POCO F4 ran Android 14/Chrome 156 and the cached development client fingerprint 971743703b097b8870b39ff842d130f50b115eeb. Each commit's JavaScript came from its own Metro checkout. expo-device-hub 0.19.1 supplied native capture. The pool redirect only selected the owned simulator device set. Android used a loopback secure WebView origin through an SSH forward and adb reverse to shiv; iOS retained its production file origin. This is not a T3 Connect relay test.
Head diagnostics accept avc1.640033, decode and draw 1206×2622, and record zero JPEG image loads. iOS sampled counters increase by 1604 decoded/drawn frames during the sustained phase, with zero decoder/configuration errors or reconnects. POCO's sampled counters increase by 1479 decoded/drawn frames over 119 seconds, with zero decoder/configuration exceptions, maximum queue 8, and the five explicit overload recoveries above. Main uses the native-size MJPEG image and performs no WebCodecs decoding. Draw counters are not presented-display FPS.
The observation-only patch buffers passive input events, observes transport/decoder calls, and paints an identical clock strip outside the content ROI. It does not select transport, resize rendering, change quality, refetch MJPEG or read cross-origin image pixels. The ROI is [.12,.22,.88,.86]. Offline registration uses original native recording PTS. The identical change gate is mean adjacent delta>.65, fraction of changed pixels>.004, and registered vertical motion>.2 pixels at a 400-pixel analysis width, or a large appearance change that retains interruption edges. The per-gesture input windows and observed update counts are retained below.
The original run's artifact-copy timeout was recovered. The two iOS uploads below retain all original recording frames and native dimensions; sharing copies are H.264 re-encodes with at most 8.4 ms PTS rounding. Measurements use the original native files. Android recordings are the original MP4s and include lead-in/stop overhang; the measured head interval is video PTS 7.498–127.531 seconds.

An earlier POCO head attempt crossed preview-ticket expiry. It recorded three overloads, one retry returning 401, an automatic document reload and two missing swipes. It is retained below as additional failure evidence, rather than substituted into the fresh-ticket comparison. A separate attempt with a 100-second gesture-scheduling gap was excluded entirely.
android-head-interrupted.mp4
Unproven: a causal or stable latency improvement, release-mode performance, physical-iPhone behavior and actual relay bandwidth/latency. Host background load was not continuously controlled. The two pinned trees include unrelated changes, although the relevant preview differences are this PR's transport and controls changes. This adds evidence, not production changes; tests and review resolutions remain in the earlier linked report. Temporary observation patches were restored, servers stopped, test connection removed and devices released.
Per-gesture native recording windows and updates
Zero-based gesture index, first/last actual pointermove aligned to original recording PTS, observed updates during that input window. NA retains missing input. iOS sharing-copy PTS rounding is described above.
Offline analysis commands used python analyze-video.py <native.mp4> .12,.22,.88,.86 <logical-width> 0,0, then python summarize-cadence.py <native.mp4> .65; the Android summary additionally retains missing-input gestures and aligns only observed input. Logical widths were 402 and 392.7272727. The native-resolution sustained decoder command and exact results are also in the preceding iOS evidence comment.
The first true Release iOS comparison is retained here, including its failed head attempt. It does not establish a lag improvement. Main responded to all 24 drags; head received all 24 drags but displayed no scrolling. A target lease was wiped/recycled between builds while the native capture hub survived. A separate short diagnostic with fresh devices and a fresh hub scrolled on the same head app. That supports a capture-host lifetime confounder, without proving its precise cause or ruling out a product defect. The next comparison keeps one valid target lease and fresh host through both builds.

Fun run r_li9qjv9xvixdw000 built both locally on shiv with Xcode 27.1, arm64 iOS Simulator, configuration Release, production Hermes v99, OTA disabled and no Metro. Both installed apps paired through the ordinary Address/Code form and retained their isolated environment after a cold restart. Stream observations confirmed rnRuntimeDev=false and each pinned source. The matching passive probe SHA256 is 317c0933ba2ba2c329da85ce64a1354a036aa1d97f4d19ccdb399fbf4d133c51.
The native T3 preview showed a real iPhone 17/iOS 27.0 Settings > General capture through the normal T3 proxy at 1206×2622. The viewer also ran on iPhone 17/iOS 27.0. Main used MJPEG. Head fetched stream.avcc, configured avc1.640033, and successfully decoded and drew native-resolution H.264 frames. No capture-quality, decoder, origin or CORS override was used. Both workloads used a fresh ticket, five-second warmup, 24 alternating 400 ms drags at five-second cadence, and untrimmed recordings. Command slip extended the measured phases beyond 120 seconds.

Main's 24 detector-eligible handler-to-recorded-motion proxies had median 98.67 ms and p95 116.0 ms. Head has no finite response sample; all 24 lost responses remain in the result. These are sampled presentation proxies, with clock-paint and recording uncertainty, rather than physical touch latency. Decoder/draw counts are not displayed FPS. Head's final observation window was censored by 106.33 ms; the other 23 windows were complete. No interruption or failed drag was removed.

Sharing copies retain every frame at 1206×2622 and are re-encoded as H.264/yuv420p. Metrics use original frame PTS; sharing conversion changed individual PTS by at most 8.334 ms. Task apps, owned leases and captured backend/collector processes were cleaned up.
Unproven: a valid Release performance improvement, exact cause of the no-response attempt, overload recovery, Android Release behavior, physical iPhone behavior and relay latency/bandwidth. This evidence does not make the PR ready.
The matched iOS Release comparison is now complete. Both builds responded to all 24 scrolling gestures without a reconnect or decoder error. Main used MJPEG; head successfully decoded native-resolution H.264. This run does not establish a causal latency or smoothness improvement.
This is a distinct correction to the retained earlier attempt, whose head had 24 no-response drags after target recycling. Fun run r_6bdttpgm8evnla00 kept one valid target lease, viewer lease and fresh native hub through both full workloads, within ten minutes. Both apps passed an equally documented setup drag and reset before measurement. The earlier unfavorable result remains part of the evidence.
Main was 8760d063e903406c8e8f695b0852c0a15fc1e00f; head was f70357c02190b3028e1fa431d5490e50b60caf56. Both viewers ran on shiv's iPhone 17/iOS 27.0 simulator with the verified signed arm64 Release apps from the preceding run. Full restored inventories and signatures matched; production Hermes v99, OTA disabled, no Metro, runtime rnRuntimeDev=false, exact source identity and normal file:/// origin were verified. The common passive probe SHA256 was 317c0933ba2ba2c329da85ce64a1354a036aa1d97f4d19ccdb399fbf4d133c51.
The real target was iPhone 17/iOS 27.0, Settings > General at 1206×2622 through the normal T3 device-hub proxy. Capture and decoder settings were unchanged. Each build used a fresh ticket, five-second warmup and 24 alternating 400 ms drags at five-second cadence. Scheduling slip extended both phases past 120 seconds; every attempted drag and the full recordings are retained.

All 24 actual command windows had complete recording coverage in both runs. No gesture or interruption was dropped. The motion-proxy difference is descriptive: head's onset sampling bracket reaches 101.67 ms, and marker paint delay is unknown. These are sampled recording results, not complete display FPS or exact physical touch latency. Sampled update rates did not improve. No automatic overload occurred, so this run does not prove overload recovery.
Main's stream response was multipart MJPEG. Head fetched stream.avcc, configured avc1.640033, and produced/drew decoded 1206×2622 frames with zero decoder/configuration errors. Decoder/draw totals are diagnostics, not presentation FPS.

Per-gesture results, original frame timing, transport observations and setup/export failures are retained below.
Both recording downloads timed out after the recorder completed. The exact completed exports were recovered from the owned sessions before lease return. Shared H.264/yuv420p copies keep every frame at native size: main preserves all PTS; head advances one duplicate timestamp by 1.667 ms. Analysis uses original PTS. I inspected frames from both actual shared recordings. Apps were uninstalled, both leases returned, captured processes stopped and scratch cleaned.
Unproven: causal input-latency or smoothness improvement, physical iPhone behavior, relay throughput/latency, overload recovery and Android Release behavior. Android Release verification is still pending.

Setup and processing failures retained
These preceded measurement or happened during offline processing. They did not trigger replacement measured runs.
Proxy install <main.app> failed with Upload failed ... agent-device is not available on this simlock: the worker holding this device is not connected to the gateway; try again. The kit's permitted guarded simlock --local simctl install <owned-viewer> <app> returned exit 0 for main and head. UI continued exclusively through the bound proxy client 0.21.32.
First normal pairing filled Address but Code failed with Remote daemon is unavailable. A subsequent bound open/snapshot succeeded. The second normal form submission filled Address/Code and submitted successfully. No credential or bypass was copied into storage. Details without codes are in pairing-actions.json and ui-commands.ndjson.
Initial collector startup used a nonexistent direct apps/server/node_modules/ws, failed with MODULE_NOT_FOUND, and exited. The actual frozen-lockfile ws 8.22.0 virtual-store path was supplied and the collector started before any preview. An earlier shell's nonmatching rg prevented sourcing TASK_ROOT and a start-process invocation raised KeyError: TASK_ROOT; no process started there.
Initial summary validator used system Python without numpy and failed. It passed using the task venv before measurement.
Initial helper provenance path omitted dist, producing FileNotFoundError. Actual installed helper source/binary hashes were then read and matched the staged hashes before measurement.
A raw plist JSON export encountered a datetime TypeError. The retained device metadata selects model/runtime/UDID fields.
Main's preview reopen selector label="View device" was ambiguous between container and button. The shell stopped before recording. The explicit button selector succeeded.
On head, Hide device controls resolved to the WebView's accessible container and tapped its center. The screenshots show controls folded and General unchanged. This setup input is outside the fresh measured document. Each app had exactly one separately documented setup pan, followed by a direct target reverse-pan reset.
Both measured recording downloads timed out after 90000ms. Recorder state was completed/confirmed; exact original exports were copied from each owned recording resource before returning leases. stopExitCode: 1 remains in both workload results. No recording or measurement was rerun. Hashes and cleanup of the completed exports are retained.
Offline PyAV/OpenCV printed duplicate AVFoundation class warnings; both analyses completed with exit 0. Initial offline frame extraction called PyAV to_image without Pillow and failed. It was changed to cv2.imwrite and rerun on the same original files. No device work was repeated.
The first two offline ffmpeg sharing encodes of head kept all 2337 frames but shifted 2138 PTS values by as much as 401.667ms. The second disabled B-frames but retained the shift. Their proof JSON and logs remain. They were rejected for sharing. A direct PyAV frame encode then used each original frame PTS and advanced only the one duplicate by one 1/600-second tick. Final head sharing keeps every frame and changes only that one PTS by 1.667ms. All metrics still use the unmodified original recording; no measured test was repeated.
Rebased onto current main after a fresh Understand pass. Head 1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369, base cefb544af3c98224874419198c0359b652ca3c94. Both commits are patch-identical by git range-diff. Main still has forced mobile MJPEG and auto-hidden controls. No superseding fix, Julius takeover, or unresolved code review finding was found. The description now states scope and explicit test results.
On corex, vp i refreshed main's changed dependencies. vp run mobile:install android g6vcdmxgydjbrga6 passed on POCO M3 Pro, Android13, arm64. Its installed native client matches fingerprint 971743703b097b8870b39ff842d130f50b115eeb; no APK build was needed. This change has no Release-only branch in transport selection, WebView configuration, or controls. Android Release performance remains unmeasured and is not required for this verification.
vp run check:changed --concurrency 1 passed format, lint, both knip passes, both affected-package typechecks, both viewer tests, and React compiler checks. All31 focused device/stream cases passed across runs. The initial combined test run failed overall because the viewer fork timed out during startup, after29 cases passed; both viewer cases then passed with --maxWorkers 1 and passed again in check:changed. These original outputs are retained. Only one heavy command ran at a time after stopping the briefly overlapping test startup.
Fresh app recordings are still missing. The standard Metro route was started with one worker and then stopped before opening the app, because there was no interactive simulator target. Two Device-panel opens returned "The device host sent no details". Read-only gateway diagnosis found NO_CAPACITY: shiv was administratively drained, and by12:55:46UTC it was also disconnected. Corex has no iOS pool host. Another model on that worker cannot help, and I did not override the administrative drain or use SSH to drive a device. The existing f70357c recordings remain historical evidence and are explicitly labeled as such.
Alternatives checked: earlier Boat Release attempts timed out and are no longer necessary; standard Android dev-client installation now passes; shiv's simulator pool cannot lease an interactive capture target, and no alternate iOS pool host is available. A macOS-client capture would not verify these mobile controls. No new shiv run or Boat job was started. M3 lease returned; no app was installed or launched; Metro stopped; no backend or simulator lease was created.
Original command output and the read-only host diagnosis follow. No credentials or app binaries are included.
Blocked: no leaseable iOS simulator target for the current-head native before/after recording. This PR is not being reported ready.

# Device host diagnosis, 2026-11-03 12:35 UTC
Read-only. No lease acquired or released; no daemon, worker or device changed.
The iOS pool is administratively unavailable, not down or out of memory. `simlock --gateway status --json` and `worker list --json` show worker shiv dfa7cf1b-4d0d-4425-bfc2-f1f9e7338898 connected, health running, drained true. It has zero active iOS leases and one warm ready iPhone18Pro. Capacity is1/2, not over limit; RAM budget is not full. Worker load reports normal memory pressure and approximately7.2GB available. SSH shiv and `simlock status` answer normally. Corex has no iOS worker.
Gateway daemon log records the automation token's lease.request failures at12:26:55.647,12:27:05.734,12:29:37.616 and12:29:44.211 UTC, all code NO_CAPACITY, message 'No worker in the fleet can currently serve this request'. Its latest worker.drain operation was10:22:11.568 UTC by admin principal385401. No later worker.undrain is logged. The log does not name the purpose or human/agent owner of that drain.
Why device_list can still say ready: Simlock gateway aggregate.ts175 explicitly includes drained workers in catalog aggregation, because drain means unavailable for leases, not uninstalled models. T3 SimlockDeviceHost.ts fetchCatalog/loadCatalog infer platform availability from that catalog and mark host ready without checking worker leaseability.
Why device_open hides the actual reason: SimlockDeviceHost.openLease maps DeviceHostUnavailableError.reason to new Error inside DeviceBootError.cause, without supplying diagnostics. DeviceBootError.message in packages/contracts/src/device.ts560 only displays diagnostics and otherwise uses 'The device host sent no details'. Therefore NO_CAPACITY becomes the generic reported failure.
A supported undrain command exists (`simlock --gateway worker undrain <id>`), but this investigation did not run it. A drain is an operator's persisted exclusion and may protect concurrent work. There is no evidence it belongs to this task or is stale, so overriding it is not a safe correction. The pool owner must finish/release that exclusion before a fresh device_open is justified. An alternate model on the same drained worker cannot solve this. No other T3 iOS host was identified in the supplied facts. Direct SSH UI/device driving would require the explicit user authorization required by current device-tool instructions and was not attempted.
Final read-only recheck at2026-11-03T12:55:46.986066Z: shiv remains drained=true and is now connection=disconnected, with zero leases. The warm ready iPhone18Pro is only a retained device record, not an available alternative. Corex remains connected and undrained but publishes no iOS catalog. No alternative iOS pool host is currently leaseable. No device_open or lease action was taken.

Native iOS preview with devUrl set can stall on the blocked AVCC fetch.
With VITE_DEV_SERVER_URL set, the server allowlist excludes the file-origin null origin. The iOS WebView loads the stream document from file:///, so its stream.avcc fetch sends Origin: null. A blocked response rejects the fetch. The catch path in readIosVideo retries AVCC and does not reach fallBackToMjpeg(). Before this change, preferMjpeg forced MJPEG on native iOS. The code comment at packages/client-runtime/src/device/stream.ts:118-119 says MJPEG avoids cross-origin fetches. Removing that default exposes this path.
The fix needs a design decision. Restoring the iOS MJPEG default conflicts with the H.264 goal. Changing the server allowlist to accept null widens the credentialed CORS boundary. A client-side fallback to MJPEG on AVCC fetch failure depends on whether the MJPEG transport avoids the same CORS check, which this review did not establish.

Same iPhone17e target lifetime on shiv, native1170×2532, Settings > General; normal T3 device proxy over the SSH device host. No quality, codec, CORS or decoder policy overrides. A passive observer and visible timing markers were injected identically into both builds and removed afterwards.

One document epoch per measured run. The recordings retain setup, every attempt, both head overload interruptions and the lost first head gesture. Neither run had a WebCodecs decoder error, but head did invoke the existing decoder-overload recovery twice.

Head has more observed scrolling updates and shorter eligible recording proxies in this development pair. This does not establish causal or stable latency improvement. The proxy starts at a painted first-pointermove marker, whose paint delay is unknown; recordings sample variably. Main attempts0/6 exceeded the local2second window but responded in their full5second windows, and attempt1 had prior motion. Head attempt0 has neither observed input nor a response, attempts16/23 overlap decoder recoveries, and attempt17 has prior/wrong-direction initial motion. All remain in the24-attempt denominator. The missing head input's cause is unproven; command success alone is not proof that input arrived.
Head recovery status windows were phase82.451–84.819s and116.680–118.596s, approximately2.368s and1.915s. These end on the streaming signal and do not bound full input recovery. The original video visibly goes to Connecting to device. Main had no measured recovery. A separate main setup SSH-host interruption is retained below, outside its measured window; it recovered automatically. It was not a decoder overload. Earlier historical failures remain in the previous evidence comments.
These counts are sampled content updates, not presentationFPS. Draw calls and decoder counters are reported separately. Physical iPhone, relay bandwidth/latency, Android Release performance and uninterrupted decoding on other implementations remain unproven.
Original untrimmed main recording. Measured phase 51.517233–171.516333s in original PTS.
main-scroll-original.mp4
Retained failed setup, before the measured workload. Normal SSH-host forwarding was interrupted; the backend and native hub stayed alive. The underlying SSH exit versus readiness-timeout cause was not recorded.

Head recording and complete head results for the matched development-client comparison immediately above. Head 1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369, base cefb544af3c98224874419198c0359b652ca3c94. Two overload recoveries and one missing-input attempt are retained. This is evidence of transport selection and observed cadence, with interruptions. It is not a stable-latency claim.
Original untrimmed head recording. Measured phase 53.364667–173.318367s in original PTS.
head-scroll-original.mp4
Current-head fullscreen controls, completed Hide → Show → Hide → Close cycle. The earlier incomplete controls attempt is also retained; one stale accessibility reference was rejected before a tap, then the complete cycle succeeded.

Current-head native iOS verification also passes through the normal dev server, including the file:/// WebView path raised in CodeRabbit's outside-diff finding. stream.avcc returned200; avc1.640033 was supported and decoded/drew native1170×2532 frames. The final sample recorded751 decoder outputs and751 canvas draws, zero retries, zero decoder/configuration errors, in the same document. These counters are not displayFPS. This was a controls/runtime smoke pass, not a new matched scrolling benchmark.
Head 1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369, base cefb544af3c98224874419198c0359b652ca3c94. iPhone18Pro viewer on shiv, iOS27, standard cached development client fingerprint 887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3, Metro from this checkout. Separate iPhone17e capture target, native1170×2532. Backend started normally with vp run dev --no-seed --home-dir <isolated-task-state>, with Vite devUrl. No CORS override, fixture video adapter or alternative transcoder. The native WebView already explicitly enables universal access from file URLs in DeviceStreamWebView.tsx; that setting is implemented by WKWebViewConfiguration in react-native-webview. The reported CORS failure is not reproduced on this actual native path, so I am leaving server auth/CORS policy and shared fetch-retry behavior unchanged. Relay remains unverified.
Controls stayed visible on connection. Hide left Close and Show visible, Show restored full controls, and Close from the hidden state exited the preview. Full untrimmed controls recording below includes the idle intervals between commands.
ios-current-controls.mp4
Current hidden state retains the explicit Close and Show controls.
The previous valid signed Release iOS matched pair remains at #28622 (comment). Its tested production patches are identical by range-diff after the mechanical rebase. This current-head native smoke additionally checks the rebased app/server composition. That older pair showed24/24 scrolling responses on both sides, no overload recovery, and no established latency improvement. It is historical evidence, not a newly recorded current-head Release pair.
Fresh independent whole-diff review found no production findings. The previous cleanup nit is fixed with per-case finally. I retained integrated controls recordings rather than adding a static mocked-controls test, per the repo's instruction to prove visual changes with captures. No review threads remain open. Current CI and changed-file checks are green.

All scratch stays under /tmp/test-pr/t3code-28587. Copy each original agentos MP4 to main-original.mp4 and head-original.mp4 there. Keep the returned recording path and SHA256 as provenance. Do not trim recordings for measurement. Setup interruption remains its own original clip.

Do not run these heavy video commands while Metro is starting or while a workload is recording. OpenCV and decoder thread counts are bounded; retain command/exit output and installed library versions.
Inputs and outputs
Each label needs -workload.json, original MP4, and shared observations.ndjson, plus release-kit/parent-summarize-release.py. Main workload currently uses index/direction/preId/postId/wallStart/wallEnd/result, not the old execution schema. The adapter maps index to i and cadenceSeconds to intervalMs without overwriting originals.
Analyzer emits -raw.json with every original frame PTS, untrimmed frame count, native resolution, detected clock/input strip coordinates, ROI .12,.22,.88,.86, and content deltas. It uses PyAV PTS directly, avoiding ffprobe/OpenCV frame-list mismatch. Magenta and cyan sentinel origins are color-detected. Bit pitch uses the common recorded innerWidth392 and full uncropped video width1080:4*1080/392. The initial thresholded-sentinel-height estimate was trimmed by color/compression and failed the >30 clock-transition guard; those timing results were withheld. The corrected geometry applies identically to both originals, giving639/670 matched transitions. Existing content thresholds from parent Android summary are retained equally for both labels.
Summarizer emits -analysis.json and -analysis-gestures.csv. All24 attempts remain denominators; missing/failed barriers are retained, never silently dropped. Events are keyed by epoch+sequence, not sequence alone. If measured barriers span epochs or a barrier is missing, combined document-clock timing is withheld with a reason; per-attempt raw result and observed-input/error metadata remain. Raw observer epochs from the earlier setup are retained separately, outside the measured host-time range.
For a single measured epoch, the old parent phase summary runs with all of its clock-transition, stable-document-origin and recording-coverage guards. Inspect clockBox/inputMarkerBox and >30 matched clock transitions before trusting its offset or phase boundaries. The clock strip is held250ms; a median empirical alignment does not bound constant paint delay. Never equate decoded/drawn frame counts with phone presentation FPS.
Local input proxy separately matches cyan first-pointermove marker to original recording frames and finds registered ROI motion within2seconds. It retains wrong-direction, preceding-motion, missing/ambiguous marker, no-response and gesture-window interruption exclusions. Brackets reflect the previous/current marker and onset recording frames; negative lower brackets are possible and are uncertainty, not negative physical latency. Unknown marker paint delay remains. Full five-second phase counts and all no-response attempts are separate from successful local-proxy percentiles. Do not claim causal or stable latency improvement from this pair alone.
Required manual checks
Inspect the first matched strips and several up/down gesture frames on both recordings; confirm marker bit decoding and shift direction. ROI must exclude controls and include the scrolling Settings content in both. Check every no-response, missing-input, interruption and large-unregistered-change interval visually. Background compression variation can register visual updates; separately report registered scroll updates and large unregistered changes. Report all setup and in-phase errors, never replace an unfavorable measured pair.
Current scripts were syntax-parsed only. Their output is analysis, not an independent oracle. If guards fail, retain the failure and withhold the affected metric; do not weaken a guard to obtain numbers.

# Independent review: PR #28622
Reviewed production head `1c4354807dd87dc54725f03e1cdb0c41974ae369` against base `cefb544af3c98224874419198c0359b652ca3c94`. Used pinned git content; excluded the parent's temporary observer changes in `device-stream-document.ts`. No production edits, builds, servers, devices, GitHub writes, or video analysis were performed by this reviewer.
## Findings
No established blocker, should-fix, or nit finding in the four-file production diff. Removing the viewer override uses the existing shared H.264 capability/configuration checks and MJPEG fallback. The hidden pill preserves a reachable Close action while leaving stream input outside its bounds. Connection loss reveals the existing reload/close controls. The new test exercises the mobile-specific transport selection that fails with the old override, rather than duplicating the decoder implementation.
## CORS risk examined
`apps/server/src/http.ts:265` does exclude `Origin: null` from credentialed development CORS origins, and `packages/client-runtime/src/device/stream.ts` retries AVCC fetch failures rather than falling back on them. However, `DeviceStreamWebView.tsx:165` already sets `allowUniversalAccessFromFileURLs`. Installed `react-native-webview/apple/RNCWebViewImpl.m:440-441` implements that on WKWebViewConfiguration, including the Fabric property path in `apple/RNCWebView.mm:301`. Therefore the CORS allowlist alone is insufficient to establish a new iOS file-origin regression. The integrated current-head iOS run remains the relevant confirmation; do not alter CORS policy solely from this static concern.
## Measurement scripts
Read `analysis-protocol.md`, `analyze-mobile-video.py`, `summarize-mobile.py`, and the complete `release-kit/parent-summarize-release.py`. The latter's CLI is guarded by `if __name__ == '__main__'`, so importing it does not execute its CLI. The adapter retains all attempted gestures and command errors, uses epoch+sequence input identities, preserves setup and measured errors, and withholds combined document-clock metrics when barriers or epochs are invalid. Successful-response percentiles do not include missing markers, absent motion, prior motion, wrong-direction motion, or observed interruptions.
No result or performance improvement has been established by this code review. Before publishing numerical claims, the primary must inspect decoded marker positions/bits, ROI placement, shift direction, original recording coverage, and every exceptional interval, as its existing protocol requires. In particular, clock-strip alignment has unknown paint delay; local marker-to-motion values are recording proxies, not physical input latency; two-second local windows can be censored; and draw-call counts are separate from presentation FPS. Command errors are preserved separately rather than automatically excluding observed input; report those trials explicitly if any occur. The original parent interruption detector ends an interval on a streaming recovery signal even if input has not recovered, so preserve the underlying bridge events and report lost-input counts separately rather than treating its interval duration as full recovery latency.
## Scope and status
Reviewed product ledger and repository Macroscope/test guidance. No web/desktop code is changed. Bot state and required-check status are owned by the primary; latest supplied state was changed-file checks and focused tests passing, with live CodeRabbit still in progress. This review does not certify the ready check or any uninspected recording.

The original native-resolution sustained decoding command/results and historical recordings remain in #28622 (comment). Current Android counter deltas cover119seconds of the120second workload,1529 decoder outputs and draws,1553 encoded input frames, queue maximum8; decoder-error list empty, two overload status recoveries retained separately. Main recorded native1170×2532 MJPEG and zero H.264 decoder outputs. Neither codec/format is inferred from the screenshot alone.
Common phase-summary implementation used for both recordings
Rechecked the base move at head 62825bb01cd79e7db51aa15a208423814172dbe4, rebased onto 567a105705bc7c8e963387f69c484178e0d8ae55. Current base 3368dd70f20cb192b68895494a4a73455524fb76 adds only web usage-table and thread-status styling after that tested base. Main still forces MJPEG for iOS targets and hides connected fullscreen controls. Neither fix is superseded. Both patches are identical by range-diff.
Fresh native smoke uses Metro from this head, an isolated corex backend and the normal SSH-device proxy to shiv's iPhone 17e target at 1170×2532. The iPhone 18 Pro / iOS 27 viewer uses cached native fingerprint 994fd7249d9b61e4302f1767d4e23664fbde5277, installed with the bound Device-panel command from the matching shiv cache. F4 / Android 14 uses fingerprint aba84043a4edb30381916d38ad6a4e7aad2cc74f; vp run mobile:install android c39d2814 returned compatible. No behavior here depends on Release mode.
Both native clients enter through the ordinary chat's device button, connect with controls visible, hide/show controls, close and reopen. These phone layouts open fullscreen directly. The F4 supplement shows system Back returning to chat. A temporary passive WebView observer records AVCC 200, supported avc1.640033 and successful 1170×2532 decoded frames/canvas draws on both clients. It was restored before reporting, and the worktree is clean. MJPEG bootstrap requests still occur before H.264 starts.
The first iOS opening records 978 decoded/canvas-drawn frames and 21 binary input messages over 207.910s. The second records 121/121 over 27.097s. F4 openings record 271/271 over 49.045s with 48 binary input messages, then 40/40 over 9.002s and 116/116 over 31.003s. These are decoder/draw counters from the last per-second sample, not presentationFPS or input-success rates.
The full logs retain decoder-fell-behind recoveries. On iOS they span 3.192 to 4.836 seconds and 56.132 to 57.391 seconds from the first WebView start. On F4 the last opening spans 15.444 to 16.868 seconds. All decoder/configuration exception arrays are empty. The shared decoder emits these reconnect statuses without incrementing the retry counter. These smoke runs do not establish stable latency, bandwidth savings or uninterrupted playback. Earlier matched measurements remain historical at their original commits.
vp run check:changed --concurrency 1 and all 31 focused device/stream cases passed. All required CI checks pass or are configured skips at this head. Independent base-impact/source review and the fresh evidence audit found no production blocker. Relay, physical iPhone, tablet/fold layouts, physical shake and renewed matched performance measurements remain unverified.

The mobile viewer forced MJPEG for every iOS simulator, even when the
WebView can decode serve-sim's H.264 stream. It now uses the shared
client's WebCodecs check and keeps the existing MJPEG fallback.
The fullscreen preview no longer hides its controls when input connects,
shows them again when input drops, and replaces the tap-only grabber with
a pill that holds Close and a Show controls button.

Updated again after main advanced. Current head 010989c941be4b3c2acbd787dbdd45ed357302a0 is rebased onto base 8b44f42b14c8e273156474a924ccf29680dd7857. Both original patches remain identical by range-diff, and main still has both original bugs. The new base changes Android's chat content wrapper. I repeated the affected native entry, controls and exit paths on F4 with the same compatible cached native client, fingerprint aba84043a4edb30381916d38ad6a4e7aad2cc74f, and Metro from this head.
The full recording starts in chat, opens the device preview, connects with visible controls, hides/shows them, closes through hidden Close, reopens and returns through system Back. It includes a scroll in the simulator's Settings app. This is a layout/entry smoke, not a matched timing workload.
final-f4-smoke.mp4
The reopen telemetry identifies this exact commit, AVCC 200 through the normal T3 proxy, supported avc1.640033, and 71 decoded/canvas-drawn 1170×2532 frames at the last 16.003-second sample, with zero decoder/configuration exceptions or overload statuses during that observed opening. The telemetry forward was restored after the first opening began, so the attached runtime record covers the reopen. It makes no statement about uninterrupted playback throughout the full recording. The first opening and all UI attempts remain in the uncut video. The observer has been restored and the production worktree is clean.
The iOS and F4 smoke captured at 62825bb keeps its original commit label and all three overload recoveries. The scoped source review below explains why its iOS evidence still covers this head: the new wrapper returns identical children on iOS, and the changed column transform applies only on Android. The transport, capture, WebView and fullscreen-control code did not change. No native fingerprint input changed. Earlier matched performance evidence stays historical. Relay, stable latency, physical iPhone, tablet/fold layouts and physical shake remain unverified.

Latest base impact review
# Latest base impact for PR 28622
Reviewed base delta `3368dd70f20cb192b68895494a4a73455524fb76..8b44f42b14c8e273156474a924ccf29680dd7857` against local head `010989c941be4b3c2acbd787dbdd45ed357302a0`. The parent owns current-device verification and final GitHub state. No code, devices, builds, servers or GitHub state changed in this review.
No production blocker or superseding fix found. Main at `8b44f42b14c8e273156474a924ccf29680dd7857` still passes `preferMjpeg: platform === "ios"` in `device-stream.browser.ts` and hides fullscreen controls when input connects in `DevicePreviewRouteScreen.tsx`. The two PR patches remain identical by the saved range-diff. The goal and approach still fit main.
The latest mobile delta centralizes Android rounded content cards in `ScreenContent` and changes their Home, thread, empty-workspace and several unrelated Settings/PR-screen wrappers. `ThreadScreenHost` now passes its body through `ScreenContent surface="canvas"`. `AdaptiveWorkspaceLayout` resets Android column margin/transform keys explicitly after a split/fold layout change. On a narrow POCO phone, repeat ordinary chat entry into its device preview, successful stream connection with visible controls, Hide/Show, hidden Close returning to chat, reopen, and system Back. Include the initial chat and final returned chat in the recording. This checks the changed body wrapper and entry hit area. Tablet/fold layout remains unverified; do not imply this phone check covers it.
The preceding iOS smoke remains applicable evidence for the unaffected behavior, with its original `62825bb01cd79e7db51aa15a208423814172dbe4` label. `ThreadScreenHost` supplies no `onLayout`; on iOS the new `ScreenContent` returns its children directly, as before. The Home list's new wrapper also returns children and keeps its existing iOS content background. `androidContentSlotStyle` is applied only under `Platform.OS === "android"` at `AdaptiveWorkspaceLayout.tsx:1108`. There is no iOS preview navigation, fullscreen control, WebView, transport or decoder delta. Describe this as carried evidence justified by the scoped source review, not as a recording made at the new head.
The device feature directory, shared device stream/decoder, native capture, device server/proxy, HTTP CORS, `SheetCloseButton` and preview navigation options have no delta. The server changes here are Git review-diff metadata and a release version. Shared runtime changes pass previous query data to optional custom query executors; the device state subscription/commands and default device-hub query behavior are unaffected. No new stream performance or recovery claim follows.
No additional native fingerprint input changed in this delta. App config, mobile package/dependencies, fingerprint config, native modules/plugins, dependency lockfile/patches and native-client helper are unchanged. The server/contracts package changes are version-only and those packages contain no native module change. The helper uses Expo's balanced fingerprint plus exclusion of config `extra` and generated `android`/`ios` directories; mobile fingerprint config adds only the unchanged app major version. The parent's normal `mobile:install` compatibility result after the rebase is the numeric fingerprint check; this review did not run fingerprint generation or install anything.
Keep the already published H.264 and controls smoke at its original head and native-client fingerprints. Keep its two iOS and one F4 decoder-overload recoveries, zero decoder/configuration exceptions, and MJPEG bootstrap requests visible in the report. A new Android layout/entry recording supplements that proof; it does not replace the historical matched workload or establish renewed latency, bandwidth, presentation-FPS or uninterrupted-playback results.

Refs #28587
The mobile simulator viewer forced iOS targets onto MJPEG, and connecting input hid Close behind a grabber that did not support dragging. Let the shared client choose supported H.264 with its existing MJPEG fallback. Keep controls visible on connection and input loss, and leave explicit Close and Show controls buttons when hidden.
This changes mobile transport selection and fullscreen controls only. No server capture settings, shared decoder policy or provider behavior changes. Focused issue-watch fix authorized by Shivam.

887f84d7e8ee2e1063658bf884c9d17f60d6cbb3. This baseline image is historical base

vp run check:changed --concurrency 1and all 31 focused device/stream cases passed at010989c. Independent base-impact/source review found no production blocker. Required CI passes or is a configured skip at this head. Earlier validation, including its retained worker-start timeout remains historical. The cleanup nit is fixed; real native captures cover controls per repository guidance.Unproven: stable or causal latency improvement, physical iPhone behavior, relay bandwidth/latency, Android Release performance, complete presentationFPS, other decoder implementations, tablet/fold layouts and physical-device shake. New H.264 use can invoke the shared decoder's overload recovery on Android, as recorded above; this PR does not change that policy.
