feat(web): reopen closed tabs across the app - #15207
Conversation
ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR introduces a cross-cutting closed-view history and restore workflow spanning persisted web state, panel lifecycle behavior, browser recreation, routing, and desktop IPC. It also adds a new default keyboard binding, so the product-default change and broad runtime scope require human review. Notes:

The description now links Julius’s original scope approval and his request for a fresh V2 PR. That approval does not replace review of this V2 implementation. The docstring coverage suggestion is not applied because the task instructions explicitly prohibit adding code comments or docstrings without a request. Existing docstrings remain. |

Addressed the current review summary in three commits, while preserving the original reopen-tab feature and media.
All 394 focused tests pass. Web, desktop, contracts, and shared type checks pass. Changed-file lint and formatting pass. Ponytail review returned The low-priority interruption concern does not give client storage and a server RPC an atomic commit. This change closes the demonstrated navigation-failure window; a process exit before the browser-open RPC result reaches the client remains a general RPC recovery limit. |

Reviewed at 626958b. The scope was approved on #13063, and this V2 implementation holds up.
- Tabs are recorded in the right places. Panel closes are captured once, in the right-panel store, through
closeAction. Thread removal and hiding a panel don't add to history, and browser tabs are recorded only after their close succeeds. - Reopening skips tabs that are already open, stops instead of guessing while the environment catalog is still loading, and moves a failed restore to the back of history so it can be retried.
- Moving the keyboard-matching helpers into
@t3tools/sharedlets the desktop preview forward the shortcut using the same matching rules as the web app. - Persistence is migrated and validated. Incognito tabs never reach storage.
- I checked every bot finding against this head, and all of them are addressed.
The focused tests pass locally: 281 web tests across seven files and 95 desktop preview-manager tests. CI is green.
personal 488a979 + origin/main 611132c (base 1604ccc), 113 conflicted files. Shape: effect 4.0.1 stable (effect/unstable/* -> effect/*), one module per service with layer/layerXyz names (fork-only services stay under Services/ and Layers/), RPC instrumentation in group middleware (ws.ts rebuilt on upstream with fork handlers ported; fork methods added to RPC_AGGREGATES and RPC_REQUIRED_SCOPES), and upstream's split auth scopes. Decisions: - Startup auto-pull: upstream's after-activation forkParked (pingdotgg#14912). autoPullProjects skips roots VcsAutoPullPolicy.isIdle reports busy, and server.ts provides the policy to startup as well as the broadcaster. - Closed tabs: upstream's reopen-closed-view (pingdotgg#15207) only. The fork's Undo closed tab stack, closedTabUndoLimit and restoreSurface are removed. - Resume compaction: upstream's Compact and send, gated by the fork's offerThreadCompaction setting. - VCS status: the fork's localOnly is replaced by upstream's includeRemote:false. The vcsLocalOnlyStatus capability is kept. - Git failure reasons: the fork's timeout/spawn are folded into upstream's GitCommandFailureReason. - Migrations: upstream 057/058 apply as ids 66/67. Fixes beyond conflicts: - AuthPairingLinks.consumeAvailable bound a JS boolean (upstream pingdotgg#10298), which node:sqlite rejects, so every pairing exchange failed. It now binds 1/0. - Upstream's permission gating revoked scopes on any failed session refresh, making the offline outbox unreachable. The new client-runtime/state/sessionScope.ts keeps cached scopes only when the refresh never reached the server. - The settings parity guard now lists upstream's previousWorktreesDirectories. - Test drift: the replay harness gained stopDelegatedTasks; two sidebar tests were retargeted to pingdotgg#16291's drop rule; 12 upstream tests had mock or fixture gaps for fork props and modules. Invariants: 50 hold on re-probe. pingdotgg#1, #4b and pingdotgg#15 were updated in docs/fork/README.md. Sweeps: RESURRECTED 2 (both deliberate: the mobile preload condition and the adopted compaction docs), BOTH-KEPT 2 (fdir@6.5.0 pruned by pnpm install). FORK-LOSS 564 and DROPPED 218 were all accounted for (renames, deliberate resolutions, install output). Gate: pnpm run verify EXIT=0, 14/14 packages. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(server): HTML renders and PDFs load behind a proxy that forbids framing Clients frame asset documents from the environment's origin, which is often not their own. A reverse proxy that adds X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN blanked every HTML render and PDF preview in that setup. Inline HTML and PDF asset responses now carry `frame-ancestors *`, which browsers honour in place of X-Frame-Options. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(server): desktop renderer may frame asset documents CSP's `*` matches only http(s) ancestors, so the desktop app's custom scheme origins are listed explicitly. Replaces #13063 after the orchestrator V2 transition. GitHub refused reopening the original. Julius approved the original scope and requested a fresh PR on the V2 base. This replacement still needs review of its V2 implementation.
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+T reopens the last closed app tab, even after switching threads or opening Settings. It covers file, diff, pull request, browser, and device tabs, including tabs on the Pull Requests page. Implements discussion #12637.
Shared history keeps the last 20 closed tabs and returns to the owning thread or page. Reopening skips tabs already open and keeps failed restores available to retry. Browser tabs enter history only after their close succeeds, so a failed close cannot evict older history. The
view.reopenClosedcommand is editable in Settings → Key Bindings and works while a terminal or desktop browser has focus. Hiding a panel or terminal drawer and closing a terminal do not add to tab history.Browser tabs reopen their saved page, profile, and viewport in a new session; page history is not restored. Incognito reopen entries stay in memory until reload or exit and are excluded from saved history. Older saved incognito entries are removed on upgrade. This shortcut does not undo deleted work. Browsers may reserve Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+T, so choose another binding if the browser takes it first.
