📝 SummarySummary by CodeRabbit
WalkthroughThe PR replaces the fixed mobile terminal key bar with editable ordered items and sticky Ctrl, Alt, and Shift modifiers. It routes modified keys through terminal input paths, checks attachment claims before sending queued input, and adds browser, PTY, and lifecycle regression coverage. A chord whose attach had gone by its turn (the sender left, the terminal was replaced, or the sender left and joined again) was refused with `input_not_ready`. The client drops the pane's readiness on that code, and after a detach and reattach it had already been told `input-ready` for the attach it holds now, so nothing restored it: "Waiting for terminal input…", a disabled key bar and typing sent to the draft until the next pane switch or reconnect. The cancelled chord now answers `input_failed`, as cancelled queued text does. `input_not_ready` stays for an attach that is not ready. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The entries were written under Unreleased before v0.3.52 was cut. The merge of main placed them, without a conflict, in the released 0.3.52 section. The migration adds Shift and Enter to an existing bar, so the entry says the keys and their order are kept, not the layout. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The explaining placeholder wrapped on a phone, and the input line sizes itself from its scroll height, placeholder included: empty, it stood two rows tall in English and Chinese and three in Korean and Japanese (42 px to 66 and 90 at 390 px wide), which cost the terminal two or three rows. The short placeholder is back; docs/guide.md already says what the keyboard button and the input line are for. scripts/chat-size-regression.ts returns to main's version: its added wait existed only to let that taller input line settle. Held modifiers and saved combinations go out as WS `keys` chords
("shift+enter", "ctrl+c", "space"), which the server hands to herdr.
The demo's transport knew only "Enter", "Backspace" and a single
character, so in the demo a held Shift typed nothing and Shift+Enter
ran nothing. It now types what a plain terminal would send and its
shell can use: Enter, Backspace, a character, Shift's capital and
Ctrl's control code.
The customization regression checked frames sent to an agent pane, which
the demo never types into. It now also runs a line in the demo's shell
with Shift+Enter, types a capital under a held Shift and interrupts with
a held Ctrl; it fails on the old transport.

…is missing Two review findings on this PR: - Settings' Escape handler also took the Escape that cancels an IME composition. In the key bar editor's Character field that closed the editor and dropped the combination being entered. - scripts/sticky-modifiers-regression.ts launched Chrome before its try block, so a failed launch left the test server listening and the temp directory behind. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The terminal's banner column lets pointer events through to the terminal under it, and a banner's action takes them back with `terminal-banner-action`. The "input was not sent" notice's Dismiss had no such class: a tap or click went to the terminal and the notice stayed until the pane changed. A chord cancelled after a pane switch now shows this notice, so it has to be dismissable. scripts/sticky-modifiers-regression.ts shows the notice and dismisses it; without the class the tap times out on the terminal intercepting it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Conflicts, each resolved by keeping both sides: - src/components/PaneTerminal.tsx: main's `SubmitResult` import beside this branch's key imports; on disconnect, the held modifiers clear and main's pending-message scope is suspended. - server/AGENTS.md: the attachment-claim note and main's pending-input note are separate bullets. - src/AGENTS.md: this branch's Key bar row and main's Chat composer row. …ld, not dropped A chord typed with a held Ctrl, Alt or Shift went through sendKeys, which answers false while the pane is not ready for input or the socket is down. The chord was then gone without a word, where plain text would have gone to the draft and a key-bar tap is greyed out. The terminal now shows the not-sent banner for it; nothing is queued for later. The sticky-modifiers regression drops the page's input readiness over the intercepted socket, types a held-modifier key, and expects the banner and no frame. …position With Ctrl held on the key bar, a physical key on a Korean or Russian layout went into the chord as typed: ctrl+ㅊ, which herdr types as the letter, where the plain Ctrl path already reads KeyC as c and sends an interrupt. The chord now takes the letter from the key's position for a non-Latin layout, as that path does, and a Latin layout keeps its own letter (Dvorak's C is not KeyC). The sticky-modifiers regression dispatches a Korean-layout Ctrl+C with Alt held and expects ctrl+alt+c. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…sed, not sent around the claim A keys frame that arrived between the attach and its answer found a claim but no attachment to belong to, and went the unattached RPC path: the claim it would be checked against was never consulted, so a detach or reattach before the queue drained did not cancel it. It is answered input_not_ready now, as typing would be, and nothing is sent. The keys-lifecycle contract holds the attach's terminal lookup, sends a chord, and expects the refusal; once attached, the same chord goes through. ## Change Prepares v0.4.0 and remote bundle 20. - `package.json` and `herdr-plugin.toml`: 0.3.52 → 0.4.0. A minor bump: the chat's Send/Stop and queued follow-ups (#520), the sidebar redesign (#521, #556, #557, #559), the mobile key bar editor (#508), Settings one page at a time (#562), release notes before and after an update (#535, #560) and the installer's star offer (#550) change how the app is used. - `shared/machines.ts`: `REMOTE_BUNDLE_VERSION` 19 → 20. #520, #508, #525 and #537 changed `server/`, so remote PCs need a new bridge; until a PC updates, Send during work keeps the draft and asks for the update. - `CHANGELOG.md`: the Unreleased notes become `[0.4.0] - 2026-10-08`, with the compare links; two stray blank lines inside the section removed; the #521 entry says a red question mark (#557), and the #535 and #560 entries say Settings → About (#562). - `release-summaries.json`: the first entry, 0.4.0 in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, seven lines under each of New features, Improvements and Bug fixes, which `Settings → About` and the header line show before and after the update installs. ## After the merge 1. `git tag remote-v20 <merge commit> && git push origin remote-v20` → the remote-bundles workflow publishes the five bundles and `manifest.json` as release `remote-v20`. 2. Only then `gh workflow run release.yml --ref main -f version=0.4.0`: preflight validates version, notes and summaries, CI runs on the exact commit, and the tag `v0.4.0` with its GitHub release is created. ## Validation - `bun scripts/release-notes.ts 0.4.0` prints the notes (version sources agree, one heading, summaries in all four languages). - `server/release-notes.test.ts` (this repository's summaries: every release since 0.3.52 told in four languages, lines ≤ 90 characters, the same lists in every language) and `scripts/release-notes.test.ts` pass. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code)
…esh the front-page copy (#610) ## What - **New address.** The website and every install command now name https://herdrweb.dev/. The Pages custom domain is already live (Let's Encrypt cert, HTTPS enforced), and GitHub redirects every `devswha.github.io/herdr-web-ui/` path there with a 301, so `curl -fsSL https://devswha.github.io/herdr-web-ui/install.sh | sh` and the PowerShell one keep working (checked: they end on `https://herdrweb.dev/install.sh`). `herdrapp.dev` 301s to `herdrweb.dev` with the path kept. Changed: READMEs, INSTALL.md, guide, development and CONTRIBUTING docs, installer comments, `scripts/plugin.ts`, the Settings link, the film end card, the Windows install workflow, and the page's canonical, og and sitemap URLs. Past CHANGELOG entries keep the old address. - **Simplified Chinese page.** `site/zh/index.html` is the page in Simplified Chinese at `/zh/`. The header links `中文` ⇄ `EN`, and both pages carry hreflang alternates. `build-site.ts` now fills in the figures, unlinks missing media and writes the FAQ structured data for both pages, and lists both in `sitemap.xml`. The clip captions come from `README.zh-CN.md`; the mock agent screens (Codex prompt, task titles) stay in English, as the agents print them. - **Front-page copy for v0.4.0.** README (en/ko/ja/zh-CN) and the page now mention the customizable key bar (#508), typing the next message while an agent works (#520), and patch notes per update (#535, #560); the comparison's "Also" row mentions the four UI languages. The ko/ja/zh-CN READMEs gain the Windows install section, which only the English one had, and the Korean README the voice-input line. - **Header width.** With the language link, the header now fits from 316px up on both pages: under 560px the star chip hides (the stats strip right below shows the same count), and the nav hides under 960px instead of 900px. ## Not in this PR - The feature-clip and hero videos (and their alt text, which still names the old sidebar's **Needs you** and DONE/RUN labels) will be re-shot separately. - Devin CLI (#438) and anonymous usage counts (#599) are unreleased, so the front page does not mention them yet. The privacy FAQ ("Does my code or conversation leave my machine?") should mention the counts in the release that ships #599. - Google Search Console verifies the old URL; `herdrweb.dev` needs its own property. ## Checks - `bun run check fast`: 1776 pass, 0 fail. - `bun scripts/build-site.ts`: exit 0; `_site/zh/index.html` gets its figures and FAQPage data, and `sitemap.xml` lists both pages. - Both pages served from `_site/` in headless Chromium at 390 and 1440px: no 4xx, no page errors. Horizontal overflow measured every 2px from 300 to 1200px: none on `/zh/`, none on `/` from 316px up.
Change
The mobile terminal key bar had a fixed set and order, with Settings only showing optional keys. Settings → Appearance → Key bar now has a compact Edit key bar entry that opens a dedicated editor.
This PR carries forward the sticky modifiers and attachment-claim protection from #433 by @nickadminroot, then adds customization and the reviewed input fixes. #433 remains open for the maintainer to reconcile after reviewing this combined change.
