fix(mobile): a thread opened while reconnecting no longer turns into a new draft - #26565
Unproven: the Reconnect-tap retry for a thread that failed to sync, and the moment right after it reconnects (both covered by predicate tests, not on a device), a real push notification opening the thread (tested with the same deep link a notification uses), a physical iPhone, Release builds, and the live UI for deleted threads, removed environments, and offline or failed connections (covered by the predicate tests only).
Problem
When the app comes back from the background and the environment's first reconnect attempt fails, opening a thread the phone hasn't cached yet (from a notification or a link) replaces the screen with an empty "New thread" draft. The thread syncs a few seconds later, but the draft stays, so the user ends up on a blank draft instead of the thread they opened.
To reproduce: leave the app on the thread list, background it, start a thread from desktop, then return to the app while the first reconnect fails and open that thread by link.
Change
#25627 made a reconnecting environment count as final for thread-route hydration, so an uncached thread doesn't spin forever, and replaced that dead end with a new draft. The draft uses StackActions.replace, so by the time the thread arrives its route is gone.
Now, while the environment is reconnecting, the route stays put and shows the existing "Thread unavailable" card with its Reconnect action. LiveThreadRouteController already reads the thread selection reactively, so the thread opens by itself as soon as it syncs. A thread known to be deleted still opens a draft right away, and offline, failed (error) and removed environments still open a draft as before.
Other cases that now show the card while reconnecting, instead of a draft:
A thread list or thread sync error during the reconnect, including while a Reconnect tap retries it. A thread keeps its sync error until the new connection resubscribes, so once connected the route ignores the error it saw before reconnecting and waits for the resync. Only an error the live connection reports opens the draft.
A thread id that doesn't exist. Once the server answers, the thread is marked deleted and the draft opens.
One gap is left: a route that first mounts in the few milliseconds between connected and the thread resubscribing can't tell an old error from a live one, so it still opens a draft. Treating every error at mount as old would hold a thread the server keeps failing on the loading screen for up to the 30 s retry backoff.
Keeping the draft for the cold-launch case alone would need connection history the route doesn't have (cold launch and resume both look like reconnecting with an empty thread), so I left it out. This changes a #25627 default, so it needs a maintainer to agree with the trade-off.
Scope and approval
A small fix for a bug that throws away the thread the user opened. There's no issue for it. It's mobile only and touches 3 files under apps/mobile/src/features/threads/. No contracts, protocol, bundling or scroll changes.
Verification
Tested commit a5b70ac644989482a6b8711e266d5e685d62f0c2 against main 5211acfe95a0c6d82a60e2524b5e46b47fe67a3e, with identical steps on both. Both ran on an isolated dev server with the scripted test provider and an acme-app fixture. The reconnect failure came from blocking the server's routes after resume, and each thread was opened with t3code-dev://threads/<environment>/<thread>. No Reconnect taps.

…a new draft
Opening a thread the phone hasn't cached while its environment retries a
failed connection replaced the route with a new-thread draft. The thread
then synced seconds later, but the draft stayed. While the environment is
reconnecting, the route now keeps the "Thread unavailable" card with its
Reconnect action and shows the thread once it arrives. Offline, failed,
removed and deleted cases still open a draft, as pingdotgg#25627 intended.

Walkthrough
The thread route now accounts for connection state and detail errors during hydration. It redirects to a draft only when the route and thread status meet the draft-opening conditions.

Reconnect clears the failure, so the environment reads as connecting
while a thread that failed to sync still has its error. The route kept
falling through to a new draft before the retry finished.

Track the thread-sync retry separately from connection readiness.
LiveThreadRouteController can observe connected while the previous detail error still exists. Hydration then stops, and threadRouteOpensDraft redirects an empty thread to a draft. The added connecting test does not cover this interval.
Suppress the draft redirect while the retry is pending, then restore the existing draft behavior when thread sync reports a persistent error or deletion. Add tests for both states.

A thread keeps its sync error until the new connection resubscribes, so a
render right after Reconnect could see a connected environment with the old
error and replace the route with a draft.

@coderabbitai On your outside-diff finding (thread-route-hydration.test.ts:57, connected while the old detail error is still set): fixed in 5b8f8f3.
The window is real. The supervisor sets the session and then connected, but the thread clears its error only when makeSubscribeInput runs markSynchronizing on the new session. The route now records the error it saw before the connection came back. threadDetailErrorIsCurrent ignores that same error object while connected, so the route waits on the loading screen for the resync. A new error from the live connection still opens the draft, as on main. Tests cover both cases.
One gap is left: a route that first mounts inside that window can't tell an old error from a live one, so it still opens a draft. The alternative, treating every error at mount as old, would keep a thread the server keeps failing on the loading screen for up to the 30 s retry backoff.

@shivamhwp Thanks for the fix. I inspected the helper, its use in ThreadRouteScreen.tsx, and the regression tests.
The code now ignores the retained pre-reconnect error while connected. A new error still counts, even when its message matches the old error. The tests cover both cases. This addresses the reported window for a route that observed the error before reconnecting. I did not run the tests.
The first-mount window remains a separate limitation. Ignoring every error at mount would also suppress genuine live errors. Would you like a follow-up issue to track that distinction?

Check the manual-retry transition from reconnecting to connecting with the error retained. Also check the connected-before-resubscription interval: an error observed by the route before reconnection must not trigger a draft while awaiting resync, but a new live-connection error must remain actionable even if its message matches the old error. Do not assume that a route first mounted while connected has observed the error before reconnection, or require all mount-time errors to be ignored.
