feat(web): pending approvals show on their timeline row - #26255
Pending approvals sat in a warning banner docked above the composer, away from the row the agent was waiting on. They now render on their own timeline row: the request's normal tool icon, the full command (wraps, scrolls past 10 lines, never truncated), and a meta line with "Waiting for approval · Decline · Approve · More".
Before (main): the approval banner above the composer.
After: the same Codex command approval on its timeline row.
Approving from the row: the row returns to a normal command row and the command runs.
The actions reuse ComposerPendingApprovalActions with an inline presentation, so provider labels, warnings and the secondary menu ("Always allow this session", Cancel) behave as before. The reason line, full-access popover, app name and the "provider process is gone" state moved to the row. Pending approval rows skip collapsed work groups, and an approval whose row is not in the loaded history (paged out) renders at the bottom of the timeline, so every pending request stays answerable. An approval that arrives while you are typing stays held, exactly as the composer did before, until the guard releases it. Sending a message while an approval is pending still declines it and redirects, as before. Mobile keeps its existing approval card.
While an approval waits, the timeline no longer shows a "Thinking" shimmer, and a finished tool no longer reads as running. A tool that is still running stays live. Known limitation: if a parallel tool finishes after a still-pending approval and you expand its output, answering the approval regroups the rows and that output collapses once.
Verified with real Codex (GPT-6 Astra, Supervised) approvals in the web dev app, again after rebasing onto main; vp run check:changed and the touched browser tests pass. Dark theme and narrow widths were not captured.

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Pending approvals move from the composer into their timeline rows while retaining response guards. ChatComposer.tsx:631 adds a lint suppression that requires human review.

Pending approvals now appear as standalone entries in the conversation timeline, with details and response controls when available. ChatView passes approval state and the response handler to the timeline. ChatComposer reports held request IDs and no longer displays approval panels or response actions.

The timeline accepts approval state, excludes held approvals, and derives standalone rows for pending approval requests. Its logic tests check that pending approvals stay outside grouped work rows.
Matching approval requests render with details and response controls. The controls support inline and composer presentations and respect thread-operation permission. The browser test covers approval rendering, response actions, and non-resumable requests.

ChatView passes approval state and the response handler to the timeline, and receives held request IDs from ChatComposer. ChatComposer removes approval panels and actions from its top drawer. The typing guard preserves the held set reference when its contents do not change.

An approval may show a misleading Thinking indicator while awaiting a response. A redundant fold remains possible but unconfirmed. The approval display should be corrected; the remaining risk is bounded.

Full details: Description check
Explanation
The pull request description is mostly complete and follows the required template in substance. It has a clear Problem (pending approvals sat in a warning banner away from the agent's row), a Change section (approvals now render on their own timeline row using ComposerPendingApprovalActions with an inline presentation), and a Verification section (real Codex approvals tested in the web dev app, vp run check:changed and touched browser tests pass, with stated gaps: dark theme and narrow widths not captured). Screenshots and a short recording are embedded for the before and after states. The Scope and approval section is missing. The description does not link a triaged bug issue or a discussion with maintainer approval, and it does not explain why the change qualifies without one. The title is also not in the template's conventional-commit form in the description body, though the PR objectives list the title as "feat(web): pending approvals show on their timeline row," which matches that form. The description also does not state whether the change is a bug fix or a feature, which matters for the approval requirement. The Verification section mentions a known limitation, which is useful context.
Resolution
Add a "Scope and approval" section. Link the triaged issue or the discussion where a maintainer approved the direction and scope, and include the approval comment. If no prior issue or discussion exists, explain why this change qualifies as an exemption. The PR adds a new inline presentation and moves approval UI out of the composer, so it is a behavior change and not a small, obvious bug fix. It therefore needs prior maintainer approval. Also state the verification steps for the Codex approval flow in plain terms, and state whether the Mobile and Claude Code paths were tested.

Approval state still hides composer banners although no approval drawer remains.
This PR removes the approval panel from the composer drawer. showComposerTopDrawer no longer depends on approvals. hasBlockingComposerTopDrawer still includes activePendingApproval !== null. The shelfItems filter on Lines 2582-2587 then hides all banners except environment errors and warnings, and its comment still says an open approval owns the space above the composer.
While an approval is pending, banners are suppressed for no reason. These include usage-limit, limit-recovery, branch-mismatch, and feedback banners. Drop the approval term so that only pending user inputs block the shelf.
Also update the comment above shelfItems to say that only an open question owns the space.

Do not hold timeline approvals in the composer typing guard.
When the composer is focused and the user typed within the last 1500 ms, the guard can hold a newly received approval. The timeline still receives that approval. On send, the approval is excluded from shownPendingApprovalIds, so the send path can leave it pending and use the default follow-up behavior instead of steering.

Do not emit a fold whose only hidden entry is a pending approval.
deriveTurnFolds and deriveSupersededAttemptFolds can include an approval_request as their only hidden entry. The approval block removes that entry from the collapsed sets, but the fold maps remain unchanged. The row loop emits the fold before it renders the approval, so the timeline can show a stale fold and the approval row.
Filter pending approvals out of fold construction, or suppress a fold when no non-pending hidden entries remain.

On the outside-diff fold finding: no change. Turn and superseded folds only form for runs outside unfoldedRunIds (active visual-response and failed runs). A pending approval keeps its run unsettled and active, so its run doesn't fold and the approval can't be a fold's only hidden entry. If it ever were, the approval row still renders (it's forced out of the collapsed sets), so the worst case is a redundant toggle, not a hidden request.

- Side chat context: codyProviderText now runs where upstream builds userText, before the provider thread loads, so the handoff budget measures the real text (adapted to upstream's ProviderTurnStartService reshuffle).
- Side chat approvals: rebuilt on upstream's timeline approval rows (pingdotgg#26255); the side chat panel passes its requests to MessagesTimeline and its composer drops the removed approval panel. New guard: apps/web/src/cody/sideChatApprovals.test.ts.
- Side chats: threadContextRecord comes from @t3tools/shared (moved by pingdotgg#26202); the panel drops activeTurnInProgress and the composer drops isConnecting, both removed upstream.
- Removed Cody's archived shell stream filter and optional onRollbackCheckpoint prop; upstream deleted subscribeArchivedShell and the timeline checkpoint rollback (pingdotgg#26238).
- ws.ts: kept Cody's client feature flag on upstream's slimmer layerWsRpc signature.
- Navigation thread list: upstream's isShownUnderParent check plus Cody's side chat filter.
- Command palette: upstream's always-on linked pull requests item plus Cody's side chat items.
- Connections: Cody's WSL tailnet pairing link kept, with upstream's moved pairing token helpers.
- Desktop: startup recovery window (pingdotgg#25903) says Cody and points at Cody's releases; Cody's auto-install listener starts alongside it; Windows work-account sign-in installed next to upstream's clipboard permission prompt.
- agentContextBudget.json re-measured with Cody's final-answer block (+371 bytes).
- Fork tests: DesktopClerk bridge test expects the new open-url listener; the wrap-up fold test uses timelineTurnFoldRunIdsByEntryId; mocks follow removed getProjectThread and layerWsRpc arguments; lint directive renamed to no-unreasoned-state-sync.
- personal-fork skill: sync notes for these changes.
Merges upstream `pingdotgg/t3code` `fe219c4de1` (95 commits, base
`49a9e80e0b`) into the fork. Branched from `main`; no open merge PR to
stack on.
## Resolution
15 conflicts, each resolved by the verdict `preflight.mjs` printed for
it. The full record is in `docs/fork/upstream-merge-log.md`
(2026-10-29). The main points:
- **`LegacySidebar.tsx` deleted upstream** (pingdotgg#21039). The deletion is
taken. Its fork deltas (touch long-press, Add project gate) already live
in `Sidebar.tsx` / `SidebarThreadRow.tsx`. The file's paths are removed
from three inventory entries, and the helper only it used is dropped
from `Sidebar.logic.ts`.
- **Composer access mode.** Upstream's simpler composer (pingdotgg#25869) shows
the Access control in three places: the Permissions chip, the
compact-menu section, and the effort-menu section in
`ComposerControlsBar.tsx`. All three are gated on `FEATURES.accessMode`.
`ComposerControlsBar.tsx` is added to `chat-composer-gates`.
- **Sidebar.** Upstream's boring-sidebar project folders are combined
with the fork's browse/closed/subtask filter. Upstream moved the row's
meta line into a `metaLine` variable, and the fork's owner name and
parent/child task links now live inside it.
- **Settings.** The boring-sidebar Labs rows are client settings and are
not gated. Simlock hosts join the `serverBehaviorSettings` rows, and the
`simlock-hosts` search id is mapped to that flag. The new Fallback model
row is hidden together with the default model row
(`defaultModelSetting`).
- **`AGENTS.md`.** Upstream now has agents check user-visible changes in
a real client without asking first. The fork's version says the same,
still pointing at the fork's skills.
- `agentContextBudget.json` uses upstream's numbers, plus the fork's 108
bytes for `ProjectScript.port`. The value `46015` was measured by
running the budget test.
- `pnpm-lock.yaml` was re-derived from upstream's copy.
**Merge stats:** 595 files landed vs 593 in the upstream range (the gap
is explained in the tracker entry). Fork delta: 766 files, unchanged.
## Verification
`verify.mjs` was run in full. These checks pass: duplicate-adds,
tripwires, resolution-check, unsupported-methods, lockfile, fmt, lint,
typecheck, build. In the test step, `web` and `client-runtime` pass. The
same failures as the 2026-10-27 and 2026-10-28 merges remain, each
confirmed failing alone:
- `t3`: `RepositoryIdentityResolver`, `GitVcsDriver`,
`CodexChatGptAuth`, `CodexManagedRuntime` (the known `/tmp` sticky-bit
gap)
- `provider-opencode`: `OpenCodeServerLedger`
## Usable as-is
- Boring sidebar project folders, two-line folder rows, and hiding empty
projects (pingdotgg#21039, pingdotgg#26387, pingdotgg#26391, pingdotgg#26463)
- Simpler composer with grouped controls and effort words (pingdotgg#25869). The
access-mode parts stay gated.
- Pending approvals on their timeline row (pingdotgg#26255); tool call diffs open
in the diff panel (pingdotgg#26304); compaction row timer (3ef1610)
- Many web fixes: chat tables, inline code double-click, numbered
composer lists, image chips, scroll-to-end, tool groups after a
usage-limit pause, long-thread timeline perf (pingdotgg#26727)
- New Claude threads default to Opus 5.5 (pingdotgg#26358)
- PR files: mark viewed with shift-click, and the diff follows the file
tree (pingdotgg#26349, pingdotgg#26730). These are reachable only where the PR surface is
(`pullRequestSurface`).
## Unsupported in Moatless / needs implementation
- **GitHub sign-in through the T3 Code for GitHub app** (pingdotgg#26245):
`sourceControl.signInStart`, `signInWait`, `signInCancel`, `appAccess`.
New `UnsupportedMethodError` entries.
- **Simlock device pools** (pingdotgg#25259, pingdotgg#26706): `device.simlockIdentity`
(new union entry) and the `simlockDeviceHostsEnabled` server setting.
Part of the device hub gap.
- **Fallback model when the default provider is out of usage** (pingdotgg#26164):
the `fallbackModelSelection` server setting cannot be saved, because
`server.updateSettings` is refused. The row is hidden.
- Managing GitHub maintainer edits (pingdotgg#25588): in the pull-request write
family Moatless does not dispatch.
- T3 Connect tunnel usage and T3 Chat account push (pingdotgg#26369, pingdotgg#25931):
relay/cloud, decided out.
- Mobile dynamic workflows in the Agents sheet (pingdotgg#18642) and the mobile
app fixes: mobile against Moatless is unverified.
## Backend behavior to consider reproducing in Moatless
These are listed under _Runtime fixes upstream made to its own server_
in `docs/fork/gaps.md`:
- Falling back to another provider when the default is out of usage
(pingdotgg#26164), and refreshing usage when a turn hits its limit (pingdotgg#26234); no
replay of stale Codex usage limits (pingdotgg#26331)
- Settling a thread at once when its watched PR merges (pingdotgg#26395).
Moatless reads no PR for settlement today, so this is a decision rather
than a fix.
- Loading long thread history in bounded pages (pingdotgg#26240); publishing
local git status before the remote lookup (pingdotgg#21046); releasing completed
PR sweep data (pingdotgg#25177)
- Thread links that outside MCP clients can open (pingdotgg#26642); listing
snoozed threads across projects in one MCP call (pingdotgg#26442)
- Provider approval and subagent fixes: Claude command approvals
(pingdotgg#20145), ACP ID-only approvals (pingdotgg#26647), Cursor subagents (pingdotgg#26592),
OpenCode subagent runtime mode (pingdotgg#26302), Codex shadow-home locks
(c4606e5); shorter remote reconnect and command delays (pingdotgg#25754)

… the bubble
Root decision 0210, plan DEV-6676 (row 25). With T3CODE_LAZURIO_BUDDY=1 the web
client is Buddy's surface: a header with Mattyčus, the conversation's days in a
pane where the window has room and a date line above each day's first message,
and no thread list, new thread, fork, rollback or thread details card. `/`
opens Buddy's one thread through the thread route, and a message sent during a
turn steers it; queueing is the explicit alternative. In Buddy's bubble the
surface speaks the frame's side of lazurio.buddy.* v1, written from the
protocol's description: it says it is ready, keeps the last valid page context
from its parent on the host's exact origin, and asks for its window's size from
its header and on Escape, which asks for the panel unless a dialog, menu or
list is open in the surface or something inside stopped the key (the editor
marks every Escape as handled). A day in the pane turns off following the end
first, as the timeline's minimap does, so the jump stays. In the bubble the
surface wears the host page's appearance through T3's own appearance
preference; where T3 cannot wear it (storage blocked, or a saved
single-appearance theme), the document wears T3's standard palette in the
host's appearance (request of 2026-10-25).
The server holds the same for every client and agent. Decorators where it builds
the orchestrator and the checkpoint store refuse forks, rollbacks, other threads
and deleting Buddy's thread, and take no checkpoints in Buddy's project, which is
the managed Folder's (T3CODE_LAZURIO_FOLDER=<Folder>/.agents/buddy) and else
~/Lazurio/.agents/buddy. A thread.create with Buddy's thread id passes only
while Buddy's thread route makes the thread (MakingBuddysThread), so a client
cannot spend the route's fixed command on a thread of its own. A startup phase
before recovery turns off continuing threads after an update, the agent
browser, and Codex and Claude, once, recorded in
<state>/lazurio/buddy-surface.json so that later choices stay.
`GET /api/lazurio/buddy/days` lists the conversation's days for the pane. The
day lines and the day jump check Buddy mode once per timeline, for the
timeline's own Environment, and the rows read it from the timeline's shared
state, so no other Environment's timeline does that work or takes a jump.
On v0.1.3 two web seams are rebuilt and one server refusal is added.
- Upstream installs the chat route's shortcuts once at app start (pingdotgg#25366
removed ChatRouteGlobalShortcuts), so Buddy's condition joins their `when`
in shortcuts/chatRouteCommands.ts: `isBuddySurfaceNow()` reads the primary
server config from the app's atom registry when a key is pressed. Without it
Shift+Mod+N on Buddy's surface would try a new thread that the server then
refuses.
- The timeline no longer takes onManualNavigation (pingdotgg#25463); the day jump is
called below the timeline's own navigateTimeline and passes it, and the day
line sits beside upstream's AudioPreviewUnmountContext (pingdotgg#21363).
- Upstream's guest share of a thread (pingdotgg#24104) is refused in Buddy's T3 Code:
thread.guest-share.open, .redeem and thread.guest-message.submit fail in the
command guard, because Buddy's conversation belongs to a Personalspace, which
is never shared (root decision 0091); closing a share stays possible. The
root renders no GuestShareDialogHost on Buddy's surface. A test drives a
guest share of Buddy's thread through the server's orchestrator.
Settings and Usage are modals over the thread now (pingdotgg#24847); the prompt-link
draft stays off Buddy's surface inside the rewritten ChatRouteLayout, and the
first-run gate stays off on NEW's slimmer root. The guards are Effect.fn
decorators (effectFnOpportunity), the two effects of BuddySurface.tsx carry
justified react-effect-budget suppressions, and the file headers are cut to
the four-line comment limit.
Any other thread of Buddy's Environment, opened by a link or a typed address,
leads to Buddy's thread as `/` does: the chat layout shows BuddySurfaceIndex,
which asks the server for Buddy's thread and replaces the address, so that
thread never renders under Buddy's presentation. A thread of another
Environment stays T3's, and ChatView and the thread details ask about the
thread's own Environment. A browser test opens such an address directly.
On v0.1.4: the root keeps upstream's local-Environment switch beside the Buddy surface check (pingdotgg#26207); the timeline finds upstream's unmatched pending approvals (pingdotgg#26255) after the day lines and adds the day keys to upstream's list data next to its new footer. ThreadDetailsPanel no longer exports its props type (pingdotgg#26238), so Buddy's panel takes ComponentProps of it, and the effect suppressions use the renamed lint rule t3code/no-unreasoned-state-sync (pingdotgg#26161). The host appearance, which row 28's commit carried on v0.1.3, comes back to this row: T3 no longer re-applies its theme from useTheme's effect (pingdotgg#25007, pingdotgg#25461), so the stand-in follows every application of T3's saved theme through subscribeRenderedAppearance, and the theme tests apply T3's stored appearance as app start does.

The actions reuse
ComposerPendingApprovalActionswith an inline presentation, so provider labels, warnings and the secondary menu ("Always allow this session", Cancel) behave as before.
