test(claude-cli): add offline schema fixtures for Issue #6469 - #8078
Adds offline test coverage for Issue [#6469](#6469) — Schema-Constrained Final Output on the Claude CLI Route — in tests/providers/claude-cli-adapter.test.ts.
The tests document the currently observed behavior of the Claude CLI adapter when handling schema-constrained outputs, streaming, tool calls, errors, and refusals.
These tests cover existing adapter behavior only. They do not introduce schema validation or runtime enforcement.
No production code changes.
Changes
Added offline fixtures covering:
Valid and invalid JSON outputs passed through without schema validation.
enum and const constraints not being enforced.
additionalProperties: false not rejecting extra properties.
Missing schema fields in json_schema configurations.
Metadata-only and unsupported schemas.
strict: true with an uncertifiable schema.
Oversized and deeply nested JSON outputs on schema-constrained requests.
Tool turns ending without final text.
Terminal failures before complete output.
Protocol errors after tool calls without replaying or losing previously emitted calls.
Refusal responses surfaced as errors without fabricated output.
Existing coverage from PR [#7908](#7908) remains unchanged.
Verification
bun test tests/providers/claude-cli-adapter.test.ts — 68 passed, 0 failed (269 expect calls).
bun check reports two pre-existing TypeScript errors in test blocks outside this PR's additions (contractParent and process.env.HOME). The clean upstream worktree could not run the check because node_modules was missing.
No production files modified.
All tests use synthetic offline fixtures. No real Claude CLI calls were made.

The pull request adds offline tests for Claude CLI adapter output and stream outcomes. The tests cover schema-related cases, large responses, tool-use completion, terminal errors, malformed frames, and refusals. The changes affect tests only; adapter implementation is unchanged.
Adds a shared schema fixture and cases for valid output, schema constraint violations, absent or unsupported constraints, and an uncertifiable strict schema.
Large response expectations tests/providers/claude-cli-adapter.test.ts
Adds cases expecting 50,000-character and deeply nested output to pass through unchanged without errors.
Tool and terminal outcomes tests/providers/claude-cli-adapter.test.ts
Adds cases for tool-use completion without final text, refusal results, errors after partial text, and captured tool calls before a protocol error.
lidge-jun/opencodex#7387: Adds offline tests for the Claude CLI adapter in the same test suite, which this pull request extends.
lidge-jun/opencodex#7908: Adds offline schema and completion fixtures in the same test suite, which this pull request extends.

Merge Risk: Low · up to d3612
The changes are test-only and mergeable with a small follow-up: use non-conforming output in the strict-schema fixture so it detects unintended enforcement.

- Line 1393: Update the non-enforcement fixtures and matching assertions in
tests 12–14 so each output violates its active schema: use a scalar for test 12,
an answer value of "a" for test 13, and an extra property for test 14. Locate
the fixtures by the `unconstrained` variable and the `textDelta` calls; preserve
the assertions’ checks of the exact emitted output.
- Line 1493: Update the refusal-result fixtures in the relevant tests to place
refusal text in the result frame’s result field instead of message, then assert
that the emitted error preserves that text in its message. Apply this to both
refusal cases so they verify the mapper’s refusal-text behavior.

Thanks for turning the 10-30 case list into fixtures. The CodeRabbit follow-ups are in: tests 12–14 now emit violating outputs, and tests 18/20 put the refusal text in result. A few cases still don't cover what their titles claim, and that matters because these fixtures are meant to be the baseline a later enforcement change flips.
tests/providers/claude-cli-adapter.test.ts:1425-1432 (test 14, "strict:true on uncertifiable schema"): the fixture {type:"object",properties:{answer:{type:"string"}},required:["answer"],additionalProperties:false} is certifiable. satisfiesOpenAiStrictSchema in src/adapters/anthropic-output-schema.ts:202 returns true for it, because every keyword is in the strict allowlist, every property is required, and additionalProperties is false. It is test 10's schema plus strict:true, so the uncertifiable case is not covered. Please use a schema that actually fails certification (for example test 13's if/then schema, or an object without additionalProperties:false) and assert satisfiesOpenAiStrictSchema(schema) === false in the test so the label can't drift.
:1451 and :1467 (tests 15/16, oversized and deeply nested output): both run parsed() with no textFormat, so they only cover plain text turns. The requested case was oversized/deep output on a json_schema request. Please pass the schema request as 8a/8b do, so these tests change state when schema buffering or validation lands.
:1333-1338 (test 9, "enum/const"): the schema has only enum. Please add a const property with a violating value, or rename the test.
:1504-1522 (test 19, "does not replay"): nothing checks replay. Please count spawns (expect exactly 1) or narrow the title. As written it mostly repeats the existing "tool-call events emitted before a malformed final line remain intact" test with two calls instead of one.
Minor: 8b duplicates 5b. Test 20 is test 3 with the refusal text moved to result; consider fixing test 3 in place instead of adding a near-copy.
Description: the "Additional coverage in the same describe block verifies…" list (malformed/truncated, cancellation, immediate tool calls) describes tests that are already on dev from #7908, not tests added here. Please limit it to the new cases 8a–20 and remove the stray "is this pr right" at the end of Scope. Per AGENTS.md "Commands", Verification should also include bun run typecheck and either a full-suite run or the documented exception (reason, exact commands, coverage left to CI). The branch is currently 55 commits behind dev; please rebase onto a recent tip.
CI note: I have approved the Cross-platform CI run on e0a1027c so you get gates / test changed feedback now.
The output {"answer":"42"} conforms to the schema this test uses. If the adapter later validated output for strict: true requests, this test would still pass. Change the fixture to {"answer":42}. The value violates answer: { type: "string" }, so the test checks that the adapter forwards non-conforming output unchanged, as tests 9 and 10 already do.

const events = await run(adapterWith(stdout), schemaRequest);
const text = events.filter(e => e.type === "text_delta").map(e => (e as { text: string }).text).join("");
- expect(text).toBe('{"answer":"42"}');+ expect(text).toBe('{"answer":42}');

Update the test 14 fixture and expected text in the schema-request test so the
output uses a numeric answer, violating the schema’s string type. Preserve the
