Review findings (Codex, pre-merge): reclaim ran on any pointerdown or keydown inside the terminal stack, so typing in Find, a scrollbar drag, a right-click for the pane menu, a held key's repeats or an IME composition resized the pty under the other device. It now takes input inside the terminal element only, a left button, and no repeat or composing key. The regression's size probe matched the answer at a line start; a prompt and command that fill the row exactly leave the answer on the same line of the read, which was CI's "no size-6 answer". The phone's size is read once the grid has changed, since input-ready comes before the pty resize. A right-click is checked to leave the phone's grid. … timeout
CI still lost a size answer ("no size-7 answer") with the runner's prompt
and grids: the answer is now bracketed and matched anywhere in the read, so
no row width can hide it, and a timeout reports what the pane shows.

resize to reach the pty before calling size() to capture desktopSize. Use the
existing size-confirmation mechanism so sizeLeaves() compares the phone resize
against the correct desktop baseline.

the IME-starting key (keyCode 229) and active composition indicated by the
existing composition refs, so the first IME key cannot trigger grid reclamation.

CI lost a size answer again, this time with the pty resized right as the shell answered: the screen reflowed and the read lost the line. The reclaim check's probe writes stty's answer to a file in the pane's folder and reads that; the other checks keep the screen probe. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…iew threads CodeRabbit: the reclaim skips an IME's first key (keyCode 229) and an open or committing composition; the regression records each window's asked grid from its resize frame and waits for the shell to report it before reading a baseline, so a late attach resize cannot pass for the other window's. ## Change Release 0.4.8, from main at ca6db6e (20 PRs since v0.4.7: the 0.4.7 mobile walk-through fixes, two contributor PRs and the revived #793). - `package.json` and `herdr-plugin.toml`: 0.4.8. - CHANGELOG: `[Unreleased]` becomes `[0.4.8] - 2026-10-12`, with the compare links. Problem
A pane's terminal size follows the window in use. A window that comes back takes the pane again through
focus/visibilitychange(back()→refit()). A PC window left in front while the user used the terminal on a phone never lost its focus, so no event fired, and the pane stayed at the phone's size until the user resized the window, switched panes or lenses, or focused another window and came back.Fix
PaneTerminaladdsreclaim: on a pointerdown or keydown inside this pane's terminal stack, while the tab is in use and not released, if the shared grid (pane-geometry) differs from this terminal's grid, it runs the existingrefit().refit()already skips observe, fixed (mirrored) grids and the chat lens, so those keep their current behavior. With matching grids it does nothing, so ordinary typing sends no extra resize.Tests
checkFocusedWindowReclaimsTerminalSize(scripts/chat-size-regression.ts, run fromui-regression.ts): two in-use windows on one pane. A click in the desktop terminal brings the shell'sstty sizeback to the desktop grid, a phone tap takes it again, and a key on the desktop takes it back. It fails without the fix ("the pane is 33 53, not 37 143").checkChatKeepsTerminalSize,checkPaneSwitchKeepsTerminalSizeandcheckBackgroundTabKeepsTerminalSizestill pass.bun run typecheckis clean.
