refactor(chat): remove Find in messages - #1140
Conversation
The chat's own message search (the floating Find in messages button, its Mod+F shortcut and the panel from #951) is removed. Mod+F in a chat is the browser's find again; Find in terminal (Mod+Shift+F) is unchanged. Removed with it: ChatFind and lib/chatSearch, the match highlight and the fold-open-on-match in user messages, the row memory's outputChanged hook (only search read it), the pane-menu inset from #1115 and the seven strings in each dictionary. The chat-virtual browser QA now reaches offscreen and older rows by scrolling instead of through Find, and the narrow-pane script drops its Find placement check. The feature was never released, so its unreleased changelog fragments are edited instead of adding a Removed entry. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winRemove the stale Find behavior from the chat-turn design.
Chat Find no longer lands on turns or opens folded messages. Delete the claim that Find opens a cut message, so this design does not specify a removed interaction.

…#1237) into next Conflicts resolved in 24 files: - Find in messages is gone upstream (devswha#1140): the comment-mode toggle takes its place at the chat's top right, and the transcript leaves room for it only while it shows. - highlightCode is removed with upstream's settings cleanup (devswha#1104). - The docked file panel (devswha#1224) gets the file comments: the dialog and the panel share the commentable body, the toggle and the viewer's props. - submitNote/submitRefusal take upstream's `agent` first and the fork's `agentOnly` after it; SubmitOptions gains upstream's resendId/generation, so a held copy with comments resends agent-only under its resend id; the server's resend paths keep `typed: false`. - Telemetry reports every setting except the fork's comment settings.
Change
Removes the chat's own message search: the floating Find in messages button, the Mod+F shortcut that opened it, and its panel (added in #951, placement fixed in #1115). Mod+F in a chat goes back to the browser's find. Find in terminal (Mod+Shift+F) is unchanged.
