fix(admin): hiring review fixes before the Notion import - #8368
Conversation
- Follow-up date saves on blur (it saved on every keystroke, and partial dates landed in the database). - CandidateView remounts per candidate, so a note draft cannot be saved on the next one; Today acts on the application that is due. - trpc.hiring.today takes the client's local date (follow-ups are local days; the server used UTC). - Duplicate check compares GitHub handles, not raw URLs; email races return CONFLICT; addEvent rejects an application from another candidate; drop the unused addApplication and deleteEvent. - Importer checks emails already in the table and reports unknown owners in the dry run, writes in one transaction, and never overwrites rows imported earlier, so edits made in admin survive a re-run.

If one candidate has two due applications, clicking the second row sets the same candidateId, and ids.indexOf picks the first row again. The new applicationId prop therefore points to the first role, so notes and header actions can still target the wrong application. Select and navigate Today rows by applicationId.

The SQL comparison cannot match a stored bare GitHub handle. githubHandle("foo") returns foo, but the SQL pattern requires github.com/, so an existing githubUrl of foo no longer matches even another foo. The candidate schema accepts bare handles, and the importer stores them unchanged. Normalize stored bare handles as well as URLs, and test the database comparison.

Unfinished imports stay unfinished
If an old import stopped after writing a candidate but before writing its application, the existing notionPageId now makes every rerun skip that unfinished row. The candidate remains absent from the pipeline. Check for a missing application and create only that application, without changing existing candidate fields.

Repeated pages stop the import
The new plain inserts need an in-file page-ID check. importedPageIds contains only database rows, and seenEmails does not catch repeated pages with no email. A repeated page in the concatenated export is counted twice in the dry run, then its second insert fails the unique index and rolls back the whole import. Track planned page IDs and report repeated rows before writing.

Failed saves leave unsaved dates
After a failed date save, the field keeps showing the unsaved date. Its key and defaultValue still use the unchanged server value, while onError only shows a toast. Reset the field after failure or keep a visible unsaved state with a retry action.

Normalize stored candidate emails before the duplicate lookup.
fileEmails lowercases input, but inArray(hiringCandidates.email, fileEmails) compares raw stored text. A stored Person@Example.com will not match person@example.com. The plain-text unique index treats the lower-case value as distinct, so the import can create a duplicate candidate. Compare lower(hiringCandidates.email) with normalized fileEmails, and normalize existing values before adding them to takenEmails.

- Follow-up date: a half-typed date (badInput) no longer clears the follow-up on blur, and a failed save puts the stored date back. - Today selects by application, so two due roles of one candidate are two separate rows and j/k can move past them. - GitHub duplicate check: the SQL side now uses an anchored regexp_replace that matches githubHandle() (bare handles match; gist.github.com and notgithub.com do not). Checked against Postgres. - Importer: a page that appears twice in the export is skipped (it rolled back the apply), and candidates left without an application by an earlier non-transactional run are completed instead of skipped.
