feat(desktop): add a setting to show the Usage button in the sidebar - #7191
Conversation
…CLI key Nullable boolean column on the local-db settings table (migration 0056, generated by drizzle-kit), tRPC getShowUsageInSidebar/setShowUsageInSidebar mirroring showResourceMonitor, DEFAULT_SHOW_USAGE_IN_SIDEBAR = false, and the matching `superset settings` registry key so the CLI coverage test stays green. Default off so nothing changes for users who do not opt in. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016gKWUtGmpPRRdeRwGNZKAE
Registers the item for Settings search (v2 only, since only the v2 DashboardSidebar can show the button) and adds the switch row with the same optimistic tRPC mutation shape as Resource monitor. Search tests cover the "sidebar" and "shortcut" queries and the v1 exclusion. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016gKWUtGmpPRRdeRwGNZKAE
Brings back the LuGauge "Usage" entry that ParadevAI#6883 removed, in the same place in both the collapsed rail and the expanded sidebar (right after Pull requests) and with the same click behaviour (last visited Usage section). It renders only while showUsageInSidebar is on, so the default sidebar is unchanged. The old aria-current route match is not restored: the home sidebar is unmounted while Settings is open, so it could never be active. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016gKWUtGmpPRRdeRwGNZKAE
Regenerated catalogs for the two new General-tab strings and hand-filled all 16 non-English locales, reusing each catalog's existing renderings of "Usage" and "Pull requests" (inflected where the language needs it). The sidebar button itself reuses the existing "Usage" message. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016gKWUtGmpPRRdeRwGNZKAE
…tion The agent-native review pass flagged that "v2 home sidebar" is the only registry description using internal version vocabulary, which nothing in the CLI or the settings skill defines. Match the plain wording of the UI hint. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016gKWUtGmpPRRdeRwGNZKAE

Greptile SummaryThis PR adds an opt-in desktop preference that restores the Usage shortcut in both forms of the v2 dashboard sidebar.
Confidence Score: 5/5The PR appears safe to merge with no actionable correctness, security, migration, or repository-rule issues identified. The setting is consistently wired through schema, migration, tRPC, CLI, search, and both sidebar layouts; external writes invalidate the relevant query namespace, and Usage navigation safely resolves to registered routes.

128-150: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueConsider extracting a shared hook for boolean tRPC settings.
This block repeats the same optimistic-update pattern used for
confirmOnQuit, fileOpenMode, resourceMonitor, andopenLinksInAppearlier in this file. Each block cancels the query, snapshots the previous value, sets the optimistic value, rolls back on error, and invalidates on settle. A small generic hook (for exampleuseBooleanSetting(query, mutation)) would remove this duplication across five call sites and reduce the risk of the blocks drifting apart over time. This is optional. It does not change behavior, and the current code is correct.

What & why
Adds an opt-in Usage button below Pull requests in the expanded and collapsed desktop sidebar. The Show usage tab on sidebar switch sits alongside the Token usage and Machine resources tabs in Settings > Usage. Clicking the sidebar button opens the last visited Usage section. The setting defaults off and persists through local SQLite, desktop tRPC, and the CLI.
Usage history and quota results remain cached for 24 hours while the app is open, with five-minute freshness. Returning to Usage retains the previous content during background scans and shows a scan indicator. Range changes can reuse the same host's chart; changing hosts cannot reuse another host's results.
Also fixes CLI settings writes on legacy profiles to update the existing singleton row atomically, addressing the outstanding review finding. The sidebar switch remains disabled until its saved value is known.
