Problem

A copied T3 Code site outranks t3.codes in ChatGPT search for "T3 Code download", "privacy policy", and "security policy" (#30901, Theo's thread). Checked 2026.11.04, t3.codes serves no sitemap.xml, robots.txt, llms.txt, or security.txt (all 404). It has no structured data. /download and /download/ both return 200, and the canonical says /download/ while every internal link uses /download. The home page title is T3 Code.

Change

All in apps/marketing:

  • sitemap.xml, robots.txt, and llms.txt endpoints, generated at build time. robots.txt allows all crawlers and names the answer-engine crawlers. llms.txt names the official website and download channels: /download, GitHub releases, the t3 npm package, the App Store, and Google Play.
  • public/.well-known/security.txt, pointing at the security policy and security@ping.gg.
  • src/lib/seo.ts and Layout.astro: Organization, WebSite, and SoftwareApplication JSON-LD. sameAs covers the repo, App Store, Google Play, X, and Discord. New optional props jsonLd, ogType, and noindex, plus a head slot.
  • trailingSlash: "never" (Astro) and trailingSlash: false (Vercel): one URL per page.
  • A noindex 404.astro page that links to the official download.
  • Descriptive titles on home and download.

The second commit takes CodeRabbit's review. It drops Theo's personal YouTube channel from the organization's sameAs, names the npm channel, and stops calling every release signed.

Scope and approval

This PR is part 1 of #30901 and answers Theo's public request for help in the linked thread. It has no maintainer approval comment yet. It touches only the marketing site: no apps/server, apps/web, apps/desktop, apps/mobile, or packages/* changes, and no change to product behavior. Macroscope rated it approvable.

Verification

vp run --filter @t3tools/marketing build # 8 pages
grep -c '<loc>' apps/marketing/dist/sitemap.xml # 6
grep -c 'application/ld+json' apps/marketing/dist/index.html # 1
grep -o '<meta name="robots"[^>]*>' apps/marketing/dist/404.html # noindex

Pre-commit (vp fmt, vp lint, knip:check) passes. Not checked: the Vercel trailingSlash 308 on a real deploy.

Before: /learn and similar paths 404 on t3.codes After: home renders unchanged

Add sitemap.xml, robots.txt, llms.txt, and security.txt. Add Organization,
WebSite, SoftwareApplication, and BreadcrumbList JSON-LD with sameAs links
to the official repository, app store listings, and channels. Add a
noindex 404 page that points to the official download. Collapse
trailing-slash duplicates (/download/ and /download both returned 200).
Give the home and download pages descriptive titles.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 8540c03

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Adds crawl and entity metadata, official-link guidance, and a custom 404 page for the marketing site. URL normalization stays on the same domain, with no changes to product behavior, download destinations, or customer data.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The marketing site adds shared SEO metadata and structured data, page-specific metadata, crawler-facing routes, and security contact information. Astro and Vercel are configured to use slashless URLs.

Changes: Marketing site SEO and discovery

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared SEO data and layout
apps/marketing/src/lib/seo.ts, apps/marketing/src/layouts/Layout.astro
Shared helpers build Organization, WebSite, SoftwareApplication, and breadcrumb JSON-LD, serialize the graph, and define static sitemap pages. The layout renders structured data, configurable Open Graph type, a sitemap link, and either a canonical link or a noindex robots tag.
Page metadata and 404 page
apps/marketing/src/pages/index.astro, apps/marketing/src/pages/download.astro, apps/marketing/src/pages/404.astro
The homepage and download page add page-specific metadata and JSON-LD. The new 404 page provides noindex metadata, explanatory text, and links to the home and download pages.
Discovery routes and URL configuration
apps/marketing/src/pages/llms.txt.ts, apps/marketing/src/pages/robots.txt.ts, apps/marketing/src/pages/sitemap.xml.ts, apps/marketing/public/.well-known/security.txt, apps/marketing/astro.config.mjs, apps/marketing/vercel.ts
New routes serve llms.txt, robots.txt, and a sitemap. The site adds a security.txt file and configures Astro and Vercel to omit trailing slashes.

Verified in a real dev environment

Verified PR head 8baabdb53c35ca7e1d679f8d54aad098ffda9938 in a task-local dev environment with Playwright 1.60.0 and /usr/bin/google-chrome.

  • On github/main (9e85538535), /robots.txt, /sitemap.xml, /llms.txt, and /.well-known/security.txt returned 404. The home and download pages had no JSON-LD, and the default missing-page response had no recovery links.
  • On the PR, all four endpoints returned 200 with the expected content types. The sitemap listed 6 URLs, all returned 200, and the pages exposed parseable Organization and WebSite JSON-LD. Home and download exposed SoftwareApplication JSON-LD; download exposed BreadcrumbList JSON-LD.
  • The custom missing-page route returned 404 with noindex and no canonical. Its Download and Home links navigated successfully.
  • Stable and Nightly tabs updated the query parameter and selected state. Real GitHub release asset URLs appeared for the cards.
  • Privacy, security, legal, and terms pages remained 200. Browser page errors were 0. The 390px 404 render had no horizontal overflow.
  • A real Codex gpt-6.1-sol turn through the running T3 server reported https://t3.codes/sitemap.xml and 6 pages.

Before: baseline 404 response

After: custom 404 response

Interaction: download and stable/nightly flow recording

Not verified

The Vercel production 308 for /download/ could not be exercised locally. Astro dev returns 404 for /download/ on this head; the Vercel trailingSlash: false deployment behavior remains unverified. Native mobile clients and external production deployment were not exercised.

The /download/ 404 in Astro dev is expected with trailingSlash: "never". In production, Vercel's trailingSlash: false 308s it to /download. Only a preview deploy can confirm that part.

Done in b053d14. The security policy page still lists security@ping.gg. Should that change too, here or separately?

Use the security.txt contact in the security policy.

security.txt directs reporters to security@t3.codes, but both reporting sections of the security-policy page still direct them to security@ping.gg. Update both links so the public reporting instructions use the same mailbox.

Holding this one for a maintainer, because the security policy is legal text. I asked the same question in the review thread above: #30902 (comment)

@b2bvic Understood. Leave the security policy unchanged pending maintainer review. The maintainer can confirm whether the two contact addresses are intentional or should be aligned. This finding remains open pending that decision.
