fix(mobile): resume continues a usage-limited thread before its queue - #27190
On mobile, tapping Resume queue on a thread whose last run stopped on a usage limit did nothing. Mobile only sent queue.resume. The server rejects that while a limit holds the queue ("Continue the limited thread before resuming its queue."), and the error was only logged.
This hits hardest when the limit has no reset time. I run Claude through CLIProxyAPI, which answers a limit with a plain 429, so T3 Code stored the failure with resetAt: null. Without a reset time the automatic resume never schedules, and a manual continue is the only way out, which mobile lacked.
Fix
Moved the web's inline "which run can be continued" logic into deriveResumableRunId in client-runtime, so web and mobile share one rule: the latest run was interrupted, or it failed on a usage limit.
Mobile's Resume now sends the manual continuation (startTurn with manualContinuationOfRunId, "Continue where you left off.") before resuming the queue, the same as web's useComposerResume.
Before continuing, mobile saves a runtime or interaction mode changed in the composer to the thread, as web and mobile's normal send do. The server reads those modes from the thread, not the turn.
Mobile now shows a failed continue or resume once, in a dialog, instead of only logging it.
Mobile offers Resume whenever the latest run can be continued, not only when the queue is held, and resumes the queue only when runs are held, matching web. The button is labelled "Resume thread" like web, and the composer guide no longer names a separate mobile label.
Not covered
The queue sheet's per-message "send now" (queued-run.start) hits the same server check on both web and mobile. Left for a separate change.
Verification
Extended the existing threadExecution.test.ts cases: a limited run with and without a queue, and an interrupted run with a held queue. They fail without the helper and pass with it. A provider-error run is not resumable.
check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck (7 packages) and the React compiler check pass. ChatView.logic.browser.test.ts couldn't start locally because the Playwright browser isn't installed, so CI runs it.
Mobile's Resume only sent queue.resume, which the server rejects while a
usage limit holds the queue, and the failure was only logged. Share the
web's resumable-run rule as deriveResumableRunId, send the manual
continuation first on mobile, and show failures in a dialog.

It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The change adds shared resumable-run selection for web and mobile. Mobile can continue an eligible run before resuming a held queue. The mobile resume action and user documentation now use “Resume.”

Summary
Resumability rule and coverage packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadExecution.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadExecution.test.ts
A shared helper identifies the latest executed run as resumable when it is interrupted or when it failed with a usage-limit error. Tests cover usage-limited failures, provider errors, and interrupted runs with a held queue.
Web and composer state integration apps/mobile/src/state/use-thread-composer-state.ts, apps/web/src/components/ChatView.tsx
The mobile composer state and web chat use the shared helper to obtain the resumable run ID.
Mobile continuation and queue resumption apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadRouteScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadComposer.tsx, docs/user/composer.md, docs/user/thread-sidebar.md
When a resumable run exists, mobile starts a continuation before resuming a held queue. Non-interruption command failures display an alert. The resume action and documentation use “Resume.”

Explanation
[#27187] Requirements met at head 72f94b5. (1) Shared rule: deriveResumableRunId in packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadExecution.ts returns the latest executed run ID when that run is interrupted, or when it is failed and both runtime.lastErrorClass and the latest root provider failure class are usage_limit. Web (ChatView) uses this helper, per the change summary. (2) Manual continuation before queue resume: handleResumeQueue in apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadRouteScreen.tsx sends startTurn with manualContinuationOfRunId: composer.resumableRunId and the text "Continue where you left off." before calling resumeThreadQueue. The queue resumes only when composer.queueHeld remains true. (3) Visibility: onResumeQueue is set when composer.queueHeld || composer.resumableRunId !== null. (4) Failures: non-interrupted failures from the mode updates, the continuation, or the queue resume open a Dialog.alert ("Could not resume thread") instead of only logging. Automated tests: threadExecution.test.ts covers limited runs with and without a queue, an interrupted run with a held queue, and a provider-error run that is not resumable. The ChatView.logic.browser.test.ts run was not performed locally; this does not affect the mobile or helper verdict. Device testing is not done, as the PR states.

Explanation
All changed areas support #27187. The helper and its tests implement the shared resumable-run rule. The mobile handleResumeQueue change implements the continuation, queue, visibility, and failure requirements. The useThreadComposerState change supplies resumableRunId to that handler. The mode save before continuation (runtime and interaction modes, saved only when they differ from the selected thread) supports the continuation turn, because a turn on an existing thread uses the saved modes; it matches the web resume flow, per the PR and commit message. The label change to "Resume thread" and the docs updates (composer.md, thread-sidebar.md) describe the same control and behavior. The per-message queued-run.start path is not changed, which matches the PR's stated exclusion. No unrelated change was found in the summarized changes.

Explanation
The description clearly explains the problem, the implementation, the out-of-scope queue-sheet action, and focused verification results. It references issue #27187 and reports untested device coverage and the unavailable Playwright browser. It does not use a dedicated “Scope and approval” heading or include an explicit maintainer approval comment, but the linked issue and focused scope provide sufficient context.

Disable automatic failure reporting for both Resume commands.
When a non-interrupted continuation or queue-resume command fails, runAtomCommand reports the failure through its default reporter because the string options enable reportFailure. The Resume handler then shows Dialog.alert for the same failure, producing duplicate reporting.

Persist the selected modes before releasing the queue.
RuntimePolicyV2.resolve reads runtimeMode and interactionMode from the thread. For an existing thread, startThreadTurn does not forward those fields to message.dispatch. The mobile continuation therefore does not update the thread modes before resumeThreadQueue starts queued runs.
Persist the selected runtimeMode and interactionMode before continuation and queue release. Do not include modelSelection; queued runs retain their own stored model selection.

A turn on an existing thread runs with the thread's saved runtime and
interaction modes, so set them first when they changed, like web's
resume and mobile's own send path.

Changes mobile Resume visibility/label, adds an error dialog, and changes the tap flow to continue a limited run before resuming its queue. The full PR supplies no before/after mobile UI screenshots or short recording of this interaction; it explicitly has not been tested on a device.
submission evidence: "Not yet tested on a device."
Attach before/after mobile captures and a short recording of Resume on a limited thread, with and without queued work, including an error state.
