fix(mobile): keep Android thread title spacing consistent - #26666
With larger Android system text, single-line mobile thread titles leave more space above host metadata than wrapped titles. The card reserves lineHeight * fontScale, but Android's nonlinear text scaling can render a shorter line. Wrapped titles exceed that reservation and avoid the extra gap.
Reported on Android 2.2.0 (725), with app text at 18 pt and increased system text. Reproduced on current main with system font scale 1.3.
Change
Use the title's native first-line measurement to size the project-icon and status containers, keeping the existing estimate until text layout is available. This removes the extra single-line space and keeps icons/status aligned with the rendered first line. Titles still wrap to two lines; timestamps, Woke indicators, host labels, PR badges, and provider icons retain their existing content and behavior.
Scope and approval
Alex requested this focused correction to an obvious visual defect; it qualifies for the small bug-fix exception. It affects shared mobile Home/sidebar card rows. Web/desktop, providers, contracts, transports, compact settled rows, and navigation need no changes.
This is independent of #26622 (compact-row horizontal alignment) and #25669 (host-label horizontal inset). Neither companion is included; there is no stack dependency.
Verification
vp run check:changed passed formatting, lint, both knip checks, and affected mobile/scripts typechecks.
Native Pixel 10 Pro, Android 15, 1080×2400: app text 18 pt, system font scale 1.3, default display size, dark Material You. Before, matching title endings had a 41-pixel title-to-host gap for one line and 25 pixels for two lines; after, both gaps are 25 pixels. Checked timestamp, Woke, PR, and provider metadata.
Changed app text from 18 to 22 pt with system scale 1.3 still enabled; the mounted rows update their measurement and retain two-line truncation and readable metadata.
Native iPhone 18 Pro, iOS 27.0: app text 22 pt and default system size. The captured card-content region is pixel-identical before and after.
During teardown, one iOS switch from search to Settings aborted with the native RNScreens assertion Stack should never be empty after updates. It did not recur after relaunch on either the unchanged base or this fix; its cause is unverified. No navigation code is changed.
Captures use isolated Demo Studio fixtures. Before is upstream 9826dbb9904b; after contains only this layout fix. Fixture setup and screenshots are excluded from the code branch. The private reference screenshots were not uploaded. No cosmetic UI test added. The reported physical device/build and tablet/sidebar layouts were not exercised.

Walkthrough
Android thread rows now initialize title line height from a scaled estimate and update it from the first rendered text line when its measured height differs by more than 0.5. Other platforms continue to use the scaled estimate.

Not verified
android reproduction on github/main and comparison against this exact head remain unverified. no native client is available through the required device workflow; the mobile verification skill explicitly requires stopping when device access is unavailable. no dev server, main worktree, installation, project/thread creation or codex turn was started. web chromium cannot exercise android nonlinear text scaling or native text-layout measurements.
still needed on a native android client: create real project/thread data through the app with codex gpt-6.1-sol, compare single-line and wrapped titles at app text 18 pt/system scale 1.3, change app text to 22 pt while rows remain mounted, and check two-line truncation, metadata/icon alignment and thread opening. ios and tablet/sidebar regression behavior also remain unverified. no before/after captures were produced and the existing author captures were not independently reproduced. observed ci reports 29 successful contexts, zero failing or pending; that is not runtime proof. no source changes or pushes were made.
Verified on Android emulator (API 35) against a real dev server
exercised head 9c80bd303a9ad0d3cb77a2c06960127c4b15f6b7 on the t3 android emulator, 1080×2400, with the cached native development client and metro. backend state was isolated under the checkout's .t3; a second isolated server enabled host metadata.
created a real project and two threads through the server cli. both codex gpt-6.1-sol turns completed through the local proxy. opened both threads in the native app and saw their actual replies. checked short and wrapped titles at app text 18 pt/system scale 1.3, changed app text to 22 pt, and returned to the existing rows. two-line truncation, project icons, host metadata, provider icons, status/timestamps, and thread navigation worked.
before/after use the same real thread data. the before substitutes only this component's original 9826dbb9904b base version; after restores the exact pr head. verified the served bundles contain the respective old estimate and new native measurement code. the working tree was restored without source changes.

iOS cannot run on this linux vm. tablet/sidebar, physical-device behavior, PR badges and Woke indicators were not exercised.
the original unequal single-line spacing did not reproduce on this API 35 emulator: the base and head have visually matching spacing. these captures prove native integration and nearby behavior, but do not establish the claimed spacing correction. today's github/main was not run; the comparison uses the original base component. overall fix-effect result remains unverifiable, rather than inferred from CI.
the emulator repeatedly terminated with qemu main-loop hangs. a restart without the device-panel stream allowed the remaining checks and recording before another hang. servers and metro are stopped; the emulator exited. disposable app connections remain in the stopped emulator because adb was unavailable at teardown. uploaded video playback and seeking passed; git.cafe renders external media as links. no source changes or pushes were made. observed CI has 29 successful contexts and no failures or pending checks; checks were not rerun for this verification-only pass.
applied the merge-review correction: title measurement is attached only on android, and state updates require an absolute first-line height difference greater than 0.5. ios keeps its derived font-scale height when text settings change. merged current main without conflicts; the final diff remains one mobile component.
blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main passed format, lint, both knip checks, affected mobile/scripts typechecks, and six existing react compiler checks. no new test files.
native runtime behavior and fresh before/after evidence remain unverified: device access is disabled in this environment and adb lists no devices. chrome cannot verify android native text measurement. the earlier native evidence in this discussion covers the previous head, not this update.

Invalidate the Android title measurement when the row or typography changes.
androidTitleLineHeight initializes once and stores only a number. Recycling can leave the previous row's measurement in state. A baseFontSize or fontScale change can leave the previous typography measurement in state. The stale value controls the project-icon height and status/provider minHeight until a new layout callback runs.
Store the measurement with the current row identity and effective typography inputs. Fall back to the current estimate when they differ. This also prevents a delayed callback from an older row from restoring stale state.
