Problem

Hidden desktop preview tabs kept running at full speed. Playwright turns on focus emulation for every page it touches, and Chromium then treats the guest as visible. So a preview tab from another thread kept its timers at about 20 Hz long after anyone looked at it.

Fix

The desktop now owns focus emulation and turns it on only while something needs it:

• a relay command is pending,
• the agent used the tab during its current turn (the server now tells the desktop when a turn starts and ends), or
• a screencast is live.

Each hold ends with its owner, and after 5 s idle the guest is unfocused again. When a hidden guest must give pixels (screenshot or stream), the client keeps it painting until the capture finishes.

This takes over #24806 by @juliusmarminge. His commits are unchanged. On top of them:

• A screenshot queued by a viewer that then detached no longer starts.
• The agent's evaluate and snapshot run on the server's own extra CDP session. Turn end now releases every hold on the thread's tabs, and any agent input counts as agent use.
• A screenshot queued behind one abandoned mid-capture keeps the guest painting, so the abandoned one can finish and free the queue. Screenshots stay serial (crash guard from #24056).
• Screencasts count only on page sessions, so a late one on a detached session cannot pin focus. A refused screencast holds nothing.
• A person's input through a viewer is not agent use.
• The server ends preview activity even when a child handed to another run is what settles the turn.

Part of #15579 (idle timers only; closing idle tabs stays open).

Proof

Each new desktop test fails on the previous code and passes now. vp run check:changed passes (format, lint, knip, typecheck, tests).

Native proof is from #24806 (Linux/X11, Electron 44.9.3, Julius's measurements): a hidden fixture ran at about 20 Hz on main and about 1 Hz with the fix. A real agent snapshot of a hidden tab returned fresh pixels, and the guest was below 1 Hz 30 s after capture. Full native report, before recording, after recording. I did not rerun the native measurement after my follow-up commits. GNOME/Wayland and macOS are unverified.

Tested on macOS (27.0.1, Apple silicon) with nightly 0.1.3-nightly.20261026.3710.

Before, on 0.1.2: preview_snapshot on an agent tab that wasn't visible (I was working in another thread) failed every time with "Preview automation snapshot timed out after 15000ms". Click, type and evaluate still worked in those tabs; only the snapshot hung. Right after restarting T3 it worked briefly, then started failing again.

Now, on the nightly: preview_snapshot with save: true on a hidden tab (visible: false, opened with open: false) returns a complete, up-to-date screenshot. I tried it right after opening the tab and again a minute later, and both times it came back without a timeout.
