Muse reports the signed-in account's session and weekly windows with each reply (MSP usage/changed), but the adapter dropped the notification, so Muse Code never appeared in Usage -> Limits. Forward reports to the driver, publish them as whole-state usage limits, and re-derive them on status checks. Whole-state replacement in provider-core clears a reset time whose window has already reset. Made with muse-wonder-full-1.0 in Muse Code, running in T3 Code.

🟡 Medium server/driver.ts:180
A refresh can overwrite newer reply usage with stale probe limits, leaving the displayed limits stale until another refresh or newer report arrives. withUsageLimits releases usagePermit before managedProvider.ts commits the probe snapshot, so a reply can publish newer limits in that gap and then be overwritten; because retainedUsage already holds that report, an identical notification is ignored. Hold serialization through the snapshot commit or reject probe limits older than the retained report at commit time.

ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This is a cross-cutting runtime change that adds a new Muse subscription-usage path, shared whole-state limit semantics, and state coordination across the adapter, driver, and provider core rather than a small isolated fix. An unresolved medium-severity finding also identifies a refresh/report race that can temporarily overwrite newer displayed limits. Not approved because:

State the Muse pooling exception.
The general guidance says that the same account across environments counts once. Muse does not provide account attribution, so the same Meta account can appear separately for each Muse instance. Add this exception.

Forward usage reports from text-generation hosts
When a Muse instance is used for automatic thread/branch titles or commit/PR text, those calls go through makeMuseTextGeneration, which opens its own MSP host and whose generateMuseText notification listener ignores usage/changed; the callback added here only covers orchestration sessions. Those model responses consume the same subscription quota, so retainedUsage and Usage → Limits remain at the pre-generation percentages until a later chat reply. Pass the same usage publisher into the text-generation host before it closes.

Note Written by Thanks for investigating Muse subscription limits. We close duplicate implementations to concentrate our limited review capacity, and your description identifies earlier, green #18274 covering the same usage/changed-to-Limits path. Please contribute the focused corrections there rather than maintain a third implementation. If a distinct failure remains, document it in an issue and request reconsideration with that narrower scope. |
main)Fixes #18235.
Problem
Muse Code's subscription usage never shows in Usage → Limits. With a Muse Code instance set up and signed in to a Meta subscription over MSP, Limits lists the other providers' windows (Codex, Claude) but no Muse section — before a reply, after replies, and after "Refresh limits" or a status refresh.
Muse does report the needed data: it forwards Meta's session and weekly windows with each model response as the MSP
usage/changednotification. The Muse adapter decodes notifications per session and drops this one (it names no session), the driver never publishesusageLimits, andprovidersWithLimitstherefore drops Muse from Limits. Two PRs already target this, and this one builds on both — credit to @ntindle (#18274) and @matheustimbo (#18815):
account/read, account generations, signed-out status changes). The open question on that thread is whether that scope is approved here or belongs with Identify the Muse account per session host before attributing subscription usage #17397.windowDurationMinspasses the protocol boundary (CodeRabbit), and Lint/Checkfail on an unused export (knip). This PR is the narrow slice with those four findings fixed, so the remaining decision is only the scope question. If maintainers prefer either existing PR, I'm happy to close this in its favor.
Change
protocol.ts): a strictusage/changedpayload — bounded date millis, non-negative percentages (Meta may report over 100), and a whole-minute window duration so nothing invalid reaches the limits contract.usage/changedis informational (a malformed report is skipped without ending the session) and forwards each decoded report through a newonSubscriptionUsagecallback.usageLimits.ts): a report becomes Session + Weekly windows, dated when Meta reported them so the freshest report wins when Limits merges environments. A window whose reset has passed starts over empty with no reset time; over-quota percentages clamp through the shared helper.observedAtMs) is ignored, so a late report can neither overwrite nor publish over a newer one. Status checks re-derive the windows from the retained report; before the first reply they reportprobeFailed("Muse reports usage limits with its next reply"), and an instance configured withMETA_API_KEYreportsunsupported.status.tsand auth behavior are untouched.applyUsageLimitsUpdategains areplacemode for providers whose reports are the account's whole state. It drops windows a report leaves out and clears a reset time it omits — the expired-window finding on feat(provider-muse): show Muse subscription limits in Usage limits #18815 — while still publishing nothing for an exact repeat, and publishing a movedcheckedAtso freshness ordering keeps working. This is part of the same fix: without it, Muse's restarted window keeps its expired reset time forever.docs/user/usage.mdanddocs/user/providers-muse.md.Explicitly not in this PR: account attribution across environments (#17397),
account/read/auth-status changes, and turns that stop on quota reporting Limited (#18236). Until #17397, the same Meta account on two environments pools like other unattributed providers (noted in the mapper).Scope and approval
Fixes #18235, where @juliusmarminge asked for exactly this shape of change — a focused PR with screenshots — after closing #17151 for missing them (comment). This PR keeps to that one problem: every touched surface (protocol, adapter, driver, shared limits folding, mobile labels, docs) exists only to carry Muse's two windows into the existing Limits UI. If maintainers decide the account-attribution parts of #18274 are in scope for this fix after all, that PR already implements them; this one deliberately leaves them to #17397.
