Surface the bounded, sanitized reason from an authenticate rejection (e.g. ineligible account) in the Google account status row, and publish a rejected redirect URL's detail there too, instead of the generic "Google sign-in failed" text. ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR changes production authentication behavior by surfacing provider failure reasons and updating the sign-in flow status after callback validation errors. Although the change is small and covered by focused tests, authentication-sensitive runtime changes warrant human review. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Problem
Antigravity sign-in failures show only
Google sign-in failed. Start sign-in again.in the Google account row, even when Antigravity returns an actionable reason (for exampleOnboarding failed: User is ineligible for free-tier ... Try signing in with another personal Google account.). A rejected redirect URL also leaves the status row on stale text; the reason appears only in a separate alert that clears on the next command.Change
safeAuthFailure(apps/server/src/provider/AntigravityAuth.ts) now returns the reason from anauthenticateAcpRequestError. It strips control characters, collapses whitespace, and caps the text at 300 characters. It falls back to the generic message when the text looks like it could carry a URL, path, or token. Existing branches (SUBSCRIPTION_REQUIRED,access_denied,session/new) still win first.completepublishes a callback-validation failure's detail to the flow's status message, keeping the phase, so the status row matches the RPC error. No contract or web change is needed:
AuthState.messageis already rendered by the UI.Fixes #17508.
Scope and approval
Tracking issue: #17508. Small, server-only fix to error text surfacing. Same bug class as #9655, #12245 and #12477. Complements open PRs #14969 and #15629, which cover session and startup failures but not sign-in
authenticaterejections.Verification
vp test run src/provider/AntigravityAuth.test.ts: 21 passed. New cases cover the onboarding-rejection passthrough, the URL-containing message falling back to the generic text, and the rejected redirect URL updating the status message.tsc --noEmitreports no errors in them.auth.message, and I did not run the app.Note
