Chat image taps stopped opening the native viewer on iPhone after the v5 stack migration. The legacy presentation container reported its first or synthetic route as unfocused while a real child route was active, so FilePreviewModal immediately cleared the selected image.

Let the v5 card and iPad workspace presentation containers preserve their real route descriptors' navigation and focus contexts. The native-stack patch adds an opt-in presentationEnvelope prop; ordinary native-stack screens keep the existing provider behavior. The preview's dismiss-on-blur guard stays intact.

Verification

  • Reproduced before the fix: the image tap handler fired, but useIsFocused() was false while navigation.isFocused() was true, and no native viewer appeared.
  • After the fix, tapping a chat image opens Quick Look on iPhone and iPad. On iPhone, closing returns to chat; the hold menu opens, its file-viewer action navigates correctly, and the file preview opens full-screen. The reported hold-menu failure was not reproduced with the workspace-image fixture.
  • 25 focused workspace projection and scroll-edge tests passed.
  • Mobile typecheck, targeted lint, and React Doctor passed.

After: native iPhone viewer with Close, Markup, and Share controls.

After: chat image opens in the native iPhone viewer

Model: GPT-6.1 Sol. Harness: Codex in T3 Code.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 7f779fe

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped iOS navigation fix that preserves the real route’s focus context inside existing V5 presentation envelopes, restoring image previews while leaving ordinary native-stack behavior unchanged. The dependency patch, type declarations, and lockfile are synchronized, with no product-default or static-analysis changes.
