🟠 High orchestration/decider.ts:1405
Scheduled commands can pass this idle check while targetThread.session?.status is "running" and activeTurnId is null, causing a new turn to start or steer a provider session that is still working. Include "running" alongside "starting" so every running session is treated as non-idle.

🟠 High src/scheduling.ts:4
Timestamp accepts impossible calendar dates such as 2026-02-30T09:00:00Z, so a one-time prompt for that date is silently normalized by DateTime.makeUnsafe and stored or run on a different day instead of being rejected. The T/trailing-timezone pattern validates only the string shape; add strict calendar-component validation before the scheduler constructs the native Date.

Cancelling a schedule through an HTTP route can be overwritten by the worker, resurrecting it as active/completed and potentially delivering a prompt after cancellation. Layer.provide(ScheduledPrompts.layer) constructs a separate service with its own mutex from the instance used by ScheduledPromptWorker, so route mutations are not serialized with runDue; provide the shared outer service instance instead.

ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This is a substantial production-facing scheduling workflow that adds MCP tools, persistent schema, a continuously running worker, orchestration gating, and default agent capability/instructions. It is not a small off-by-default change, and unresolved high-severity findings identify risks around session idleness, timestamp validation, and service-instance concurrency. Not approved because:

Note This comment is posted by Julius' dot This introduces a new agent-scheduling workflow: persistent schedules, scheduling MCP tools, and a worker that starts future turns. The PR's “Scope and approval” section explicitly says no prior maintainer approval is available, and there is no approval in the discussion or reviews. Under prior approval, this PR is being closed. Please agree on the direction and scope with maintainers in an Ideas discussion and link their explicit approval before requesting reconsideration. The need to revisit work later is clear, and the focused tests are useful, but they do not replace product-direction approval. |
Problem
Agents cannot arrange a future turn in the same thread when a user asks “check this in two hours” or “check this every three hours.” They need a durable schedule that sends a saved prompt into that chat without an open client.
Change
Add thread-scoped MCP tools to create, list, pause, resume, and cancel scheduled prompts. Schedules support a one-time timestamp, a delay, a fixed interval, or a five-field cron expression with an explicit time zone.
A SQLite-backed worker delivers due prompts through normal orchestration commands using the thread's current model and permission mode. Schedules survive server restarts, coalesce missed occurrences, and wait for active turns or pending requests. A serialized command check prevents scheduled prompts from steering concurrent work, and durable command receipts deduplicate delivery if the schedule update fails. Archived or deleted threads pause their schedules.
The shared MCP injection path exposes these tools to all six providers. Web, desktop, mobile, and remote clients receive the resulting messages through the existing thread flow. Runtime instructions teach agents to use the tools, and the composer guide explains scheduling and the requirement to keep the hosting server running.
Scope and approval
This PR implements one feature: agent-created scheduled prompts in the originating thread. It was requested by the contributor; no prior maintainer approval link is available. This is a new feature and requires maintainer approval under CONTRIBUTING.md.
