Summary

  • Promote Codex Desktop additional_tools for non-forward official xAI/OpenCode Go destinations and explicitly opted-in providers. Preserve destination/credential admission, top-level precedence, namespace identity, typed configuration and management overwrite/PATCH behavior. Original contributor commits and existing documentation remain intact.
  • Keep historical and live provenance through identity, task-message, orphan-output, synthesized-output, bridge, cache and custom-tool rewrites. Historical wrappers retain replay call-rewriting context through separate namespace plans without contributing current declarations.
  • Fix the round-3 blocker in 71c91fd8fc28b4648bef6aa0526b02e9d96fcbec: filter the source tool_search_output items by current-turn provenance before merging nested definitions into a live wrapper, top-level catalog or fallback. Historical discoveries cannot create current hosted declarations; current discoveries remain active. Per-item tags override stale positions, with the original numeric prefix retained for untagged helper callers.
  • Add tests/providers/xai/xai-loaded-tool-provenance.test.ts: 21 permanent regressions, including nine real stored two-turn cases and wrapper/top-level/fallback, reordered tags, untagged-prefix and input immutability coverage. Register it in the providers layout shard and expected fixture. Root layout stays at 1,999 lines; no ratchet cap increases. Update the present-tense structure contracts and regenerate the index.
  • Ordinary merge 90ac07f4c07a94d07bc9cb48e2c9adaffee679ea incorporates dev at 640a40f6d57fe7613624a4b827b09c8501e277b6. Both lane commits carry Omar's verified coauthor trailer. No rebase or force-push.

Verification

Final validated head: 90ac07f4c07a94d07bc9cb48e2c9adaffee679ea. Windows PowerShell, repository-pinned Bun 1.4.4, OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1, serial Bun test processes. bun install --frozen-lockfile: passed (106 installs, unchanged after dev merge). git rev-list --count HEAD..origin/dev: 0 at final local verification.

Red -> green:

bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-loaded-tool-provenance.test.ts
  • At pre-fix PR head 48a8e31fdcbb79b9d654cca6c90855ac1ce3000c: 9 pass / 12 fail, 59 assertions. With the fix: 21 pass / 0 fail, 72 assertions; the same final file also passes in batch A after the dev merge. The test fixture was corrected for existing tool order/refusal code/omitted-catalog policy before recording this baseline; no production change preceded the baseline.
  • In stored two-turn wrapper and top-level cases, a historical discovery previously authorized xs_call-round3 with HTTP 200; the fixed request sends only [live] and returns 502 (undeclared_tool_call). Current discoveries still send their hosted declarations and accept the hosted call with 200. Removing only the historical discovery is the negative control.
  • Wrapper-less fallback cases assert that historical discoveries contribute no outbound declarations. Under the existing omitted-catalog policy, absence of any current catalog leaves call handling to the client; these cases do not claim HTTP refusal without a caller catalog.

Focused batch A (final head):

bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-loaded-tool-provenance.test.ts tests/providers/xai/xai-replay-provenance.test.ts tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts tests/providers/xai/xai-web-search-compat.test.ts tests/providers/opencode-go-grok46-responses.test.ts tests/providers/zed-hosted-provider.test.ts tests/responses/namespace-tool-compat.test.ts tests/responses/responses-tool-search-repair.test.ts ./.tmp/pr7637-adversarial-round2-b3254026.test.ts ./.tmp/pr7637-security-e1df4dec.test.ts ./.tmp/pr7637-carry-probes-e1df4dec.test.ts ./.tmp/pr7637-security-round2-b3254026.test.ts ./.tmp/pr7637-carry-probes-round2-b3254026.test.ts ./.tmp/hosted-activation.test.ts

271 pass / 0 fail, 804 assertions, 14 files. Includes all five supplied earlier scratch probe files (assertions unchanged; imports redirected to this lane) and the round-3 hosted-activation probes. Earlier duplicate, namespace, loaded-tool, repair, forward opt-in, destination and caller-credential controls remain green.

Original round-3 two-turn server probe:

bun test ./.tmp/loaded-history-boundary.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'real continuation'

2 pass / 0 fail, 6 assertions. Both loaded-history and no-loaded controls send [live] and return 502. One deliberately vulnerable-state loader comparison is filtered out; its assertion expects the old bad state and is not a permanent regression or passing-fix claim. The permanent 21-case file checks the corrected source boundary.

Focused batch B (final head):

bun test tests/responses/responses-undeclared-tool-guard.test.ts tests/responses/responses-undeclared-tool-guard-inbound.test.ts tests/providers/xai/xai-responses-adjacency.test.ts tests/web-search/web-search-bridge-replay.test.ts tests/responses/responses-forward-posit-continuation.test.ts tests/responses/ws-native-result-continuations.test.ts tests/adapters/routed-agent-messages.test.ts tests/responses/custom-tool-compat.test.ts tests/responses/responses-code-mode-mcp-direct.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/test-layout-tooling.test.ts

317 pass / 0 fail, 1,480 assertions, 12 files. Covers hosted/client call authorization, stored continuations, bridge/custom/agent/code-mode rewrites, pairing/adjacency and ratchet/layout gates.

Management/admission batch (final head):

bun test tests/server/management-provider-compat-carry.test.ts tests/server/server-management-auth.test.ts

70 pass / 0 fail, 470 assertions, 2 files. Verifies settings carry, explicit writes/clears, malformed values, destination changes, management/data credentials, origins and CSRF. Together the final-head focused runs execute 660 passing tests / 0 failures, 2,760 assertions; no skips (one obsolete demonstration filtered as described above).

  • bun run typecheck: passed, 0 errors in 2,229 files.
  • bun run structure:index, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, git diff --check: passed. Regenerating structure/INDEX.md produces no tracked change.
  • Final local tracked worktree: clean. No workflow dispatches/reruns, label changes, fork CI approvals or PR merges performed.
  • Full-suite exception: the owner explicitly limited this Windows carry to focused files because concurrent carry lanes share host resources. bun run test was not run; broader Ubuntu/cross-platform validation remains with CI. Local results do not establish exact-head hosted CI success or independent security approval.
  • NOT RUN: full suite, live upstream execution/spend, cache-hit validation, docs-site build, GUI build/lint (no GUI changes), hosted CI completion/approval, independent round-4 security review.

Pending maintainer actions: independent round-4 security review of this head, sponsorship of the intentional promoteAdditionalTools: "editor" field-policy surface (unsponsored_surface), and fork CI approval if required. The two unresolved inline review threads receive fixing-commit/evidence replies and remain open for reviewer disposition. No sponsorship or reviewer approval is claimed.

Walkthrough

The change adds the promoteAdditionalTools provider setting and promotes Responses additional_tools for OpenCode Go and xAI destinations, or when a provider enables the setting. It adjusts replay-prefix handling and adds provider management, documentation, and test coverage.

Changes: Responses additional-tools promotion

Layer / File(s) Summary
Provider option and management support

Adds the optional boolean promoteAdditionalTools setting. Provider management carries and validates the setting, accepts null in PATCH to clear it, and includes it in provider-list responses.
Destination matching and request promotion
src/adapters/opencode-go-additional-tools.ts, src/adapters/openai-responses/passthrough.ts, tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts, structure/transports/responses.md
Adds xAI URL recognition and a shared promotion helper. buildRequest adjusts the replay-prefix boundary and promotes additional tools for OpenCode Go and xAI destinations, or when the provider setting is enabled. Tests cover URL matching, replay-prefix handling, promotion, and unchanged input for an unconfigured provider.
Test shard wiring
scripts/test-layout/layout.json, tests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json
Assigns the xAI additional-tools test to the providers/xai shard and updates the expected layout.

Triage note (2026-10-24, against dev at 2494848).

Needs fixes before this can land: implement the documented boolean/null PATCH behavior and typed/validated configuration support; add management round-trip tests; register the new test in both inventories; update owning structure documentation; complete the PR template and obtain exact-head runtime CI. The PR currently changes none of those management/configuration surfaces; existing PATCH dispatch is at src/server/management/provider-routes.ts:757.

Still needed on dev: yes. Promotion currently runs only for OpenCode Go: src/adapters/openai-responses/passthrough.ts:388, src/adapters/opencode-go-additional-tools.ts:29.

Exact-head CI at triage time: 47c638f — rollup: 8 success, 2 cancelled (label, enforce-target, with successful duplicates). Runtime CI run 40015166483 is action_required; no passing runtime CI. lane=all on exact head: n.a.

Please refresh onto current dev when addressing these; heads older than dev need a fresh exact-head CI run before review.

Updated at head 54db2a7:

  1. Replay Boundary Recalculation: In src/adapters/openai-responses/passthrough.ts, when dropResponsesReasoningInputItems removes reasoning items preceding the replay prefix boundary, replayPrefixLen is adjusted downwards by the number of dropped reasoning items in that prefix window. This ensures current-turn additional_tools items do not shift below the boundary and are correctly promoted to top-level tools.
  2. Regression Test: Added unit test in tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts verifying that dropping reasoning items in the replay window preserves promotion of subsequent current-turn additional_tools.
  3. Review Thread Resolved: Resolved CodeRabbit review thread.
  4. Validation: bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts tests/server/management-provider-compat-carry.test.ts (32 passing), bun run typecheck (0 errors), bun run structure:check (clean).
  5. Review Readiness Checklist: Ticked all 4 boxes and marked PR ready for review.

Note on src/server/auth-cors.ts: Because PROVIDER_CONFIG_FIELD_POLICY strictly enforces satisfies Record<keyof OcxProviderConfig, ProviderConfigFieldPolicy>, adding promoteAdditionalTools to OcxProviderConfig requires specifying its field policy ("editor", matching other boolean provider switches). As src/server/auth-cors.ts is in the restricted list, this PR will need the maintainer-sponsored label applied once reviewed.

Updated at head f0c1836:

  1. Explicit Promotion on Forward Auth: Updated src/adapters/openai-responses/passthrough.ts so that explicit provider.promoteAdditionalTools === true enables promotion even when provider.authMode === "forward", while keeping automatic destination-based promotion restricted to non-forward traffic.
  2. Unit Tests: Added regression tests in tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts verifying that forward-auth providers with promoteAdditionalTools: true promote additional tools, while forward-auth providers without the flag leave input untouched.
  3. Validation: All 34 tests in tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts and tests/server/management-provider-compat-carry.test.ts pass cleanly. bun run typecheck and bun run structure:check pass.

Regarding deterministic PR hygiene: src/server/auth-cors.ts is modified to satisfy the typed field policy constraint for promoteAdditionalTools on OcxProviderConfig as requested in maintainer triage. Because src/server/auth-cors.ts is a security-sensitive surface in RESTRICTED_FILES, the deterministic hygiene workflow flags unsponsored_surface by design until maintainers review the change and apply the maintainer-sponsored label.

Maintainer carry follow-up to the 2026-10-28 07:00Z independent review.

Pushed final head 6f7c117cf236b040473544858fd8f6f82b5471ba to Omar's original branch. Original contributor commits remain intact. New ordinary commits, both with Co-authored-by: Omar <13569609+omar391@users.noreply.github.com>:

  • 514a0e6eff85a5b77e00ac9b828e7a699a2b735f: merge dev b16bc0978b2eef1799f38042084809b5a0cd11bf without conflicts.
  • 6f7c117cf236b040473544858fd8f6f82b5471ba: fix the remaining whole-prefix removal and historical-bare/live-namespace cases, add three permanent regressions, separate historical/live namespace plans, update the structure contract, move test registration to the providers shard.

Per-finding independent evidence against the real passthrough request builder:

  1. Historical/current duplicate bare and named records.lookup catalogs: red at 52b3ab206, green at fc2629e36 and final head; named historical calls still lower to records__lookup. A further historical bare lookup / live functions.lookup case remained broken; the new regression went 0 pass / 1 fail -> 1 pass / 0 fail with 6f7c117cf.
  2. Current tool_search_output with only a historical first wrapper and no top-level tools: loaded declaration missing at 52b3ab206, present at fc2629e36 and final head. Contributor fix selects a live wrapper or top-level catalog.
  3. Historical configuration_update removal and synthesized historical output: both red at 52b3ab206, green at fc2629e36 and final head. Removing the entire configuration/reasoning prefix still lost current tools; both new regressions went 0 pass / 2 fail -> 2 pass / 0 fail with explicit live provenance in 6f7c117cf.

Commands and results (Windows PowerShell 7.6.6; Bun 1.4.4; OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1; one Bun test process at a time):

  • bun test ./.tmp/pr7637-probes.test.ts: 4 pass / 5 fail at 52b3ab206; 9 pass / 0 fail at fc2629e36. Scratch fixture probes also pass at final head. Four controls verify top-level precedence, declaration order, no-opt-in forwarding, and explicit canonical forwarding with the same destination/caller credential.
  • bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'historical bare': 0/1 -> 1/0 pass/fail.
  • bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'removing the entire': 0/2 -> 2/0 pass/fail.

  • Initial guard batch: 144 pass / 0 fail; exact command and coverage split are in Verification. Docs-link, hygiene and layout inputs have not changed since that batch; all affected runtime/ratchet tests were rerun above.
  • bun run typecheck: 0 errors, 2,229 files. bun run structure:index, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, git diff --check: passed.
  • providers.md: 1,951 lines; layout.json: 1,999 lines. No raised baselines. Standard Checklist and the original readiness checklist are retained; only the local-validation and recent-dev attestations are checked.

The two unresolved inline threads now have per-finding evidence replies and remain open for independent re-review. The remaining hygiene blocker is the legitimate src/server/auth-cors.ts:1091 field-policy addition requiring maintainer sponsorship. This lane did not change labels, approve fork CI, dispatch workflows, rerun checks, or merge the PR. Please review/sponsor that restricted surface and arrange any fork CI approval after the security re-review.

NOT RUN: full suite (owner-directed focused-test exception due to concurrent Windows carry lanes), live upstream requests, cache-hit validation, docs-site build, GUI build/lint (no GUI changes), hosted CI execution/approval, independent security re-review. CI status is handed back as observed; local green is not hosted CI approval.

Tag cloned input before identity repair and preserve historical/live markers through agent-message replacement, prompt-cache cleanup, and recursive custom-tool lowering. Lock in canonical-forward live tool promotion, destination/credential admission, and reconstruction regressions.

Pushed ordinary carry fix 8bdb199a189ecc31d56f1d316db9456e7a64fd2d to the contributor branch, with Omar's co-author trailer. Dev remains merged at b16bc0978b2eef1799f38042084809b5a0cd11bf through 514a0e6eff85a5b77e00ac9b828e7a699a2b735f; no rebase or force-push.

The re-review blocker is fixed: cloned input receives historical/current provenance before identity repair or any other input transformation (src/adapters/openai-responses/passthrough.ts:178-190). The chain audit also found and fixed marker loss in routed agent-message replacement, prompt-cache cleanup, and recursive custom-tool lowering.

Red -> green evidence (Bun 1.4.4, OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1, serial focused tests):

  • bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'forward opt-in preserves live': 0 pass / 1 fail at 6f7c117cf, 1 pass / 0 fail after. It verifies the current live tool survives removal of the historical proxy identity, canonical URL/caller credential/account header are preserved, and raw input gains no symbols.
  • bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts tests/adapters/routed-agent-messages.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'cache-marker cleanup|replacement carries': 0 pass / 2 fail -> 2 pass / 0 fail.
  • bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-additional-tools.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'custom-tool lowering carries': 0 pass / 1 fail -> 1 pass / 0 fail.

The PR description records the full-suite exception for parallel Windows carry lanes. No caps were raised; no new test file registrations were needed. The two review threads remain open pending independent review; sponsorship of the editor field policy remains an owner action. No CI approval, dispatch, rerun, label change or merge was performed.

NOT RUN: full suite, live upstream requests, cache-hit validation, docs-site build, GUI build/lint (no GUI changes), hosted CI completion/approval, independent security re-review.

Preserve historical and live tags through task-input replacement, orphan
repair, synthesized outputs and bridge restoration. Select xAI search and
all transformed catalogs using item tags. Remove numeric-prefix reuse after
serialization in Zed promotion and hosted-call authorization.

Regression: round-2 reviewer probe 1 pass/1 fail at 8bdb199 -> 2 pass/0 fail.
Permanent regression initially 1 pass/8 fail; final 10 pass/0 fail including
bridge restoration. Focused batches: 219 pass/0 fail and 317 pass/0 fail.
Typecheck, structure, privacy, file-size and test-layout checks pass.

Round-2 implementation carry pushed at 48a8e31. Ordinary dev merge 27a27e0 incorporates e7b8cdf. Original author commits remain; both carry commits include Omar's verified coauthor trailer.

The fix preserves historical/live tags through external task-input replacement, orphan/synthetic outputs and bridge restoration. xAI search injection/suppression reads item provenance. Passthrough no longer recalculates a prefix or passes one to transformed-catalog consumers. Zed promotion runs before serialization; server hosted-call authorization combines original current-turn authority with top-level outbound declarations.

Red -> green evidence:

  • Supplied round-2 reproduction: bun test ./.tmp/pr7637-adversarial-round2-b3254026.test.ts, 1 pass / 1 fail at 8bdb199 -> 2 pass / 0 fail. Historical external task input previously added x_search; final tools contain only the live function.
  • Permanent regression: bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-replay-provenance.test.ts, 1 pass / 8 fail -> 9 pass / 0 fail; added bridge-only regression 0 pass / 1 fail -> 1 pass / 0 fail. Final file 10 pass / 0 fail, 35 assertions.
  • Promotion/search/namespace/Zed and all three reviewer scratch probes: 219 pass / 0 fail, 654 assertions, 10 files.
  • Authorization/inbound/adjacency/bridge/continuation/custom/code-mode/ratchet/layout batch: 317 pass / 0 fail, 1,480 assertions, 12 files.
  • Exact batch commands are recorded in Verification. bun run typecheck: 0 errors in 2,229 files. bun run structure:index, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, and staged diff whitespace check passed. Root layout remains 1,999 lines; no caps increased. Pinned Bun 1.4.4, frozen install, OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1, one test process at a time.

Both open review threads receive final-commit replies and stay open for reviewer disposition. PR remains draft for round-3 independent security review, intentional field-policy sponsorship and current-head CI. No workflow dispatch/rerun, label change, fork CI approval or merge was performed.

NOT RUN: full suite (owner's parallel-lane resource exception; broader coverage left to CI), live upstream/cache-hit probes, docs build, GUI build/lint, hosted CI completion/approval, round-3 security review.

Filter tool-search source items before declarations enter a live wrapper,
top-level catalog or fallback. Preserve current discovery, per-item tags
and the untagged replay-prefix fallback through the existing merge paths.
Add 21 permanent cases including stored two-turn hosted-call authorization.
Regression on 48a8e31: 9 pass / 12 fail; fixed: 21 pass / 0 fail.

Round-3 blocker fix pushed: 71c91fd8fc28b4648bef6aa0526b02e9d96fcbec, followed by ordinary dev merge 90ac07f4c07a94d07bc9cb48e2c9adaffee679ea (merged dev 640a40f6d57fe7613624a4b827b09c8501e277b6). Final head: 90ac07f. Both commits preserve Omar's coauthor trailer; original contributor commits are retained.

Discovery source items are now filtered by current-turn provenance before nested tool definitions enter a live wrapper, top-level catalog or fallback. Historical discovery no longer injects current hosted declarations. Current discovery, replay call identity and earlier transformation/destination/credential contracts remain covered.

Red -> green (Bun 1.4.4, OCX_TEST_NO_QUEUE=1, serial tests):

bun test tests/providers/xai/xai-loaded-tool-provenance.test.ts

9 pass / 12 fail at 48a8e31fdc -> 21 pass / 0 fail, 72 assertions, fixed. After merging dev, the same permanent file passes in batch A. Stored two-turn wrapper/top-level cases send only [live] and return 502 for historical discoveries (formerly 200); current discoveries remain 200. Fallback cases verify no historical outbound declaration, preserving the existing omitted-catalog client-handling policy.

Final-head results:

  • Focused batch A, full bun test file list in Verification: 271 pass / 0 fail, 804 assertions, 14 files. Includes all five earlier supplied scratch probes, permanent provenance/promotion/namespace/search tests and round-3 hosted-activation controls.
  • bun test ./.tmp/loaded-history-boundary.test.ts --test-name-pattern 'real continuation': 2 pass / 0 fail, 6 assertions. Historical-loaded and no-loaded controls both return 502 and send [live]. The old-state comparison that deliberately expects the bug is filtered; it is not a passing-fix claim.
  • Focused batch B, full bun test file list in Verification: 317 pass / 0 fail, 1,480 assertions, 12 files (authorization, continuations, repairs, ratchet/layout).
  • bun test tests/server/management-provider-compat-carry.test.ts tests/server/server-management-auth.test.ts: 70 pass / 0 fail, 470 assertions. Expected ETIMEDOUT diagnostics are from passing injected ACL-failure tests.
  • bun install --frozen-lockfile, bun run typecheck (0 errors / 2,229 files), bun run structure:index, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, git diff --check: passed. Tracked worktree clean; layout root 1,999 lines; no cap increase. Final focused runs total 660 pass / 0 fail, 2,760 assertions, no skips (one obsolete demonstration filtered as above).

The PR description was updated once for the final head. Both unresolved inline threads received fixing-commit/evidence replies and remain open for reviewer disposition. The PR stays draft pending independent round-4 security review, sponsorship of the intentional promoteAdditionalTools: "editor" surface, and fork CI approval if required. Local validation does not establish hosted CI success; CI is checked once after this update, without waiting or rerunning.

Full-suite exception: owner-scoped focused validation on this shared Windows host with parallel carry lanes; broader Ubuntu/cross-platform coverage remains with CI. No workflow dispatch, rerun, label change, fork CI approval or PR merge performed.

NOT RUN: full suite, live upstream execution/spend, cache-hit validation, docs-site build, GUI build/lint (no GUI changes), hosted CI completion/approval, independent round-4 security review.

Maintainer security review, round 4 (independent) of head 90ac07f4c0: PASS, 0 blocking findings. All earlier findings are closed: historical declarations no longer erase live tools, loaded tools survive history, the replay boundary holds across removal/synthesis/reordering, identity removal and task-input replacement keep provenance (src/adapters/openai-responses/tool-output-recovery.ts:409), and historical tool_search_output discoveries no longer grant hosted authority (src/adapters/openai-responses/tool-schema.ts:210; the round-3 two-turn probe now sends only the live tool and returns 502). A 90-case matrix across wrapper, top-level and fallback catalogs for x_search, web-search variants, code_execution, code_interpreter, image generation, file_search and mcp passed. Local evidence: 752 pass / 0 fail across the carry batches, management/auth tests and probes; typecheck, structure, privacy pass. No workflow, dependency or install-script changes. The promoteAdditionalTools: "editor" field policy stays behind management admission (src/server/index/serve-options.ts:703); applied maintainer-sponsored and approved PR CI for this head.

…promotion

Reconcile legacy pre-PR-7637 xAI test assertions with official xAI endpoint
additional_tools promotion. Verify outbound body strips additional_tools
from input and promotes declarations to top-level tools on xAI destinations
(api.x.ai and cli-chat-proxy.grok.com), and verify unpromoted routed gateways
continue preserving additional_tools in input.

… prefix

Zed lifts replayed additional_tools wrappers out of the tagged input before the
Responses delegate runs. The delegate then re-tagged the shortened input by the
original numeric prefix, so a current-turn tool_search_output slid under the
boundary and its loaded tools were dropped. Input that already carries
provenance now keeps it.

Thanks @omar391 — this is landing through a maintainer carry in #7983, which keeps every commit from this branch and credits you with a Co-authored-by trailer. Pushing the latest maintainer fixups here (c62e494: keep existing item provenance when tagging the replay prefix, fixing a Zed case where a current tool_search_output was re-tagged as history; 4319468: drop an unused import) reset your readiness checklist and returned this PR to draft, so the carry avoids asking you to re-attest. I'll close this PR once #7983 merges.
