What & why
Fixes the CLI and desktop-app defects the Windows and macOS testbench runs reported under #2091; the macOS-only ones and #2139 are left out. Uninstall keeps local data it cannot manage, --yes imports keep exclusions, deleted sessions count as deleted, and short live sessions finalize. In the app, config-only harnesses start off, tool rows open on their recorded command and output, an unreachable server reads differently from a rejected sign-in, windows fit the screen, and a program holding the local server's port is named instead of offering Start. Setup can leave projects out of an import, and the local edition sends no usage data until the user chooses.
Where to look
Behaviour changes: local-edition usage data is off until chosen; naming imported sessions is opt-in; kcap local start fails at once on a port another program answers; the main window opens fitted to its screen's work area, centred on the primary screen when nothing is remembered.
Windows signing (cli-build.yml, desktop.yml) is inert until the AZURE_TRUSTED_SIGNING_* variables and the windows-signing environment exist; RELEASING.md has the setup.
Verification
Windows 11, unit suites at ff6e1967 (passed / failed): Models.Transcripts 286 / 0, Service 62 / 0, Core 5,736 / 22, Daemon 4,783 / 17, Cli 7,954 / 14, App 5,669 / 8. Every failure is the symlink privilege, agents installed on this machine, or PATH, the same as on main here, except two timing tests in code this PR does not touch: Daemon's Disposing_the_process_kills_child_and_grandchild and Cli's Codex_StdoutHandshake_UnaffectedByALargeUnreachableSpoolBacklog, which passes 3/3 alone.
dotnet publish -c Release of the CLI and daemon: no IL2026/IL3050 warnings; full solution builds with code style enforced.
Windows Sandbox, a fresh profile with the branch kcap.exe, daemon and desktop app (ff6e1967) against the local server bundle, 13 scripted checks pass: discovery for a harness that never ran exits 0 with an empty report; a two-line live session reaches the server through its hooks; a kcap-claude-<id> transcript is not counted; a second import of unchanged transcripts imports nothing; recap --full shows a recorded Bash call; import --yes in its own console keeps the excluded session off the server; memories import without a terminal exits 1 naming --yes; with the server stopped, import exits 1 naming the server, status gives no login advice and sessions exits 1; a desktop-app CLI off PATH is pointed at the app; with the port held by a PowerShell listener, the app's banner reads "Port 9473 is held by powershell (pid N)", offers no Start, and the window's visible frame stays above the taskbar at 150% scaling; uninstall --yes keeps a running local server's data and says so.
Not run: the Linux/macOS-only import integration tests (CI), the remaining desktop app walkthroughs, and a real signed release.
A local server this build cannot manage stays out of the config delete, since its
root sits inside the config directory by default. The plan also names the capture
exclusions (#2146) the delete loses, so a reinstall cannot capture them unannounced.

KurrentDB binds kurrent.sock inside its data directory, 28 bytes past the root, so
a root that fit the old check crash-looped until setup gave up.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
OpenCode has no end hook, so the watcher's own session-end is the only one it gets;
gating it on the ten-line buffer left short runs Live with nothing recorded.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Shared skills now track which harnesses use them, so removing one no longer
deletes skills another still loads, and edited skills survive. Codex network keys
(#2147) are restored only while they hold kcap's value. Desktop-app installs get
the app's own PATH remedy instead of npm (#2085), and Pi says once that kcap is
missing from PATH (#2128).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Replacing the service from an agent that daemon hosts killed the command midway,
and launchd brought the old service back. A refused stop of a supervised daemon
now exits 1 (#2126), and hosted-agent worktrees are excluded in the repository's
info/exclude (#2120), which never prunes them.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
kcap status no longer sends you to kcap login for a server that is down.
recap --full now renders each turn's tool calls and results (#2125), and
validate-plan matches recorded writes by any spelling of the session id (#2127).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A lease taken before the server had ingested the session cached a denial that
the recorded workspace then inherited. The desktop app also shows imported
sessions' branches (#2109) and Codex patch targets (#2111), selects the effective
default audience (#2113), keeps the rail footer for alerts only (#2104), names
the agent's worktree (#2119) and says why a subagent row cannot open (#2112).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The server's watermark counts only lines that produce events, and every Claude
and Codex turn ends with lines that produce none, so complete transcripts kept
resuming. --yes and offline runs keep exclusions and exit nonzero on failure,
setup shows its background split, helper title runs stay out of history, and
naming imported sessions is opt-in.

Walkthrough
The pull request updates CLI import and transcript workflows, desktop session and settings behavior, configuration ownership, daemon and local-server operations, and Windows release signing. It also adds related documentation and tests.
Changes: Import and transcript workflows
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Discovery, selection, and import accounting src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/Import*, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/Setup*, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/Onboarding/History*, src/Capacitor.App/Services/ImportDiscovery*
Discovery includes per-harness repository totals and unmatched folders. Setup and desktop history import support source and folder selection, run-only exclusions, and optional session naming. Import results track deleted and deferred sessions, per-session outcomes, and exit codes.
Transcript processing and reporting src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/TranscriptFileClassification.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli/Harness/*/*ImportSource.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/Recap*, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/ValidatePlanCommand.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/Tool*
Import recognizes deleted sessions and event-producing transcript lines. Full recap renders turn traces and activity, plan validation combines recorded changes with tool failures, and tool details can show Codex patch targets.
Helper-run and capture behavior src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/Harness/Claude/*, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/Harness/ClaudeHookCommand.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/WatchCommand.cs, test/Capacitor.Cli.Tests.Unit/Commands/ShortLiveSessionTests.cs
Claude helper runs carry identifying markers and are excluded from capture and history discovery. Watch buffering detects real turns and handles short sessions and shutdown draining.
Desktop session and settings behavior
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Session lifecycle and workspace state src/Capacitor.App/Services/AgentDirectory.cs, src/Capacitor.App/Services/ServerSessionsService.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/MainWindowViewModel.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/RemoteSessionViewModel.cs
Session rows retain ended state and checkout facts across daemon and server listings. Workspaces support handoff after session completion, access rechecks, and parking and restoring the selected session and tab.
Rail alerts and work context src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/RailAlert.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/MainWindowViewModel.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/WorkContextViewModel*, src/Capacitor.App/Views/SessionRailView.axaml, src/Capacitor.App/Views/WorkContextView.axaml
The rail presents actionable alerts instead of persistent healthy-state metadata. Work context shows owned worktree paths and branches, along with conditional open actions and unavailable-state details.
Settings, telemetry, pages, and windows src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/CaptureSettingsViewModel.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ArtefactsTabViewModel.cs, src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/Onboarding/*, src/Capacitor.App/Services/WindowRestore.cs, src/Capacitor.App/Views/SettingsWindow.axaml
Settings show connection status and resolve saved visibility against supported options. Telemetry waits for edition-specific consent. Artefact views load published pages, and window handling restores placement and state.
Shared skill consumers are tracked, and edited folders are preserved during removal. Codex network settings record ownership and prior values; removal restores only settings that remain unchanged and reports retained settings.
Daemon and worktree operations src/Capacitor.Cli/Services/HostedCaller.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/ProcessTree.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/Daemon*, src/Capacitor.Cli.Daemon/Services/WorktreeManager*
Daemon service installation checks whether the caller is hosted by a daemon it would stop or retire. Supervised stops return a refusal. Worktree creation adds an exclusion to the repository’s Git exclude file.
Diagnostics and local-server handling src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/Http/*, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/StatusCommand.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli/LocalEdition/*, src/Capacitor.Cli/Commands/UninstallCommand.cs, src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/Harness/Pi/*
CLI diagnostics classify connection failures and format status output for terminal encoding and width. Local-server checks report socket-path limits and installation states. Uninstall reports capture exclusions and detected local-server data. Pi extensions report missing kcap with a shared notice.
Release signing

Merge Risk: Moderate · previous review 60576
A hosted agent running daemon service install --system on Windows can trigger the elevated installer before being told nothing changed. A failed Codex config write can leave network settings enabled with no recorded claim to restore them. The recap skill documentation also contradicts the new --full output. Fix the elevation ordering and the claim handling before merging; the remaining items are small documentation and output cleanups.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The reviewed changes align with the PR's stated intent and linked work. The Azure signing, local-edition telemetry, published-page listing, CLI table, desktop polish, and setup-import changes have explicit issue references or current PR-description scope. Supporting production refactors, documentation, and automated tests have direct connections to those behaviors. No demonstrated unrelated change requires an out-of-scope finding.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The PR implements the active coding requirements for capture-exclusion disclosure, socket-path validation, short-session finalization, import exclusion and count handling, discovery, title-processing consent, branch metadata, helper-run filtering, CLI diagnostics, recap and plan evidence, desktop session handoff, PATH guidance, shared-skill ownership, Codex cleanup, worktree exclusion, daemon safety, visibility, rail alerts, and hosted-worktree guidance [#2146, #2153, #2140, #2144, #1719, #2105, #2143, #2145, #2123, #2142, #2085, #2128, #2007, #2147, #2120, #2126, #2150, #2130, #2125, #2127, #2107, #2109, #2111, #2113, #2104, #2119]. The code and tests preserve unsupported local-server data and disclose it during uninstall [#2099]. However, the reviewed behavior proceeds with uninstall --yes without --purge-local when an unmanaged local server is present. The issue requires refusal without explicit purge consent when such data exists [#2099].
Resolution
When uninstall detects local-server data that the current build cannot manage, apply the same preflight consent rule as a managed local installation. Refuse unless --purge-local is supplied, while preserving the local root and reporting the preservation path. Add a regression test for uninstall --yes without --purge-local.

Comment @coderabbitai help to get the list of available commands.
The spool assertion reads a different spool than the one the hook used.
fx.HandleAsync runs HandleCore with fx.Spool. That spool lives under the fixture's temp home (<home>/spool). Line 89 builds new HookSpool(Config.Root, ...), which reads the config-root spool. That is the spool the policy seam writes to. Lifecycle events from HandleCore never go there, so this assertion cannot fail.
The RouteOrder and ServerRequestCount assertions still cover the post path. Assert on the fixture's own spool so the "nothing is spooled" claim holds.

fx.SpoolFiles rather than creating a HookSpool rooted at Config.Root, so it
verifies the spool used by fx.HandleAsync.

Write the consumer record atomically.
File.WriteAllText rewrites .kcap-consumers.json in place. A concurrent kcap process can read a truncated file. ReadRecorded then returns null and Read falls back to legacy inference. If inference finds no configured integration, Release calls Clear and deletes skills that another consumer still uses.
Two concurrent read-modify-write cycles can also lose a consumer. For example, setup and the npm postinstall hook can both run.
Write a temp file in the same directory, then replace the target with File.Move(tmp, path, overwrite: true). Do the same in SkillsFileManifest.Write (src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/SkillsFileManifest.cs, Line 28).
♻️ Proposed change
- File.WriteAllText(Path.Combine(skillsDir, FileName), new JsonObject { ["consumers"] = new JsonArray(entries) }.ToJsonString());+ var path = Path.Combine(skillsDir, FileName);+ var tmp = path + ".tmp-" + Environment.ProcessId + "-" + Guid.NewGuid().ToString("N");+ try {+ File.WriteAllText(tmp, new JsonObject { ["consumers"] = new JsonArray(entries) }.ToJsonString());+ File.Move(tmp, path, overwrite: true);+ } catch {+ try { File.Delete(tmp); } catch { /* best effort */ }+ throw;+ }
Based on learnings: "Flag shared-state file updates that expose truncated or partially written contents to concurrent readers".

These run only on Linux and macOS or at CI's console width, so the Windows suites never reached them.

Split into seven PRs, each small enough for a CodeRabbit review: #2210 uninstall ownership, #2209 daemon self-stop guards, #2211 import and setup history, #2212 CLI diagnostics, #2213 local edition setup, #2214 desktop app and local-server recovery, #2208 Windows signing. Together they hold this branch's changes, and they merge into main in any order without conflicts.

What & why
Fixes the CLI and desktop-app defects the Windows and macOS testbench runs reported under #2091; the macOS-only ones and #2139 are left out. Uninstall keeps local data it cannot manage,
--yesimports keep exclusions, deleted sessions count as deleted, and short live sessions finalize. In the app, config-only harnesses start off, tool rows open on their recorded command and output, an unreachable server reads differently from a rejected sign-in, windows fit the screen, and a program holding the local server's port is named instead of offering Start. Setup can leave projects out of an import, and the local edition sends no usage data until the user chooses.Where to look
kcap local startfails at once on a port another program answers; the main window opens fitted to its screen's work area, centred on the primary screen when nothing is remembered.main, whose fixes for Make unchanged history re-imports skip completed sessions #2121, Refuse invisible confirmations during noninteractive memory import #2124 and Fail imports when the server is unreachable without bypassing exclusions #2129 win over this branch's: a partly failed import exits 1, and a run that cannot prompt still probes excluded sessions before skipping them.cli-build.yml,desktop.yml) is inert until theAZURE_TRUSTED_SIGNING_*variables and thewindows-signingenvironment exist;RELEASING.mdhas the setup.Verification
