Three setup-wizard fixes. Success messages (sign-in "Connected to …", harnesses "can now find kcap") render as a plain check row instead of a bordered banner inside a card. The harnesses PATH note now says only what will happen on this machine — the writable PATH folder, /usr/local/bin with the admin prompt, or ~/.local/bin plus the ~/.zprofile line — with paths in mono. onboardingCompact no longer sets the mono font, so Retry matches the other CTAs. On the done step, the add-agent + lines up with the text column, the background service status is a dot and label like the agent rows, and kcap import is set in mono. Onboarding status labels (onboardingSignal, the history "from" list, BUNDLED) use the body font; mono stays on paths and commands.
Where to look
PathShimInstaller.DescribeAsync mirrors InstallAsync's folder choice without creating anything, including the outcomes it refuses (a conflicting link, a shell with no editable profile); writability uses access(W_OK) via a new libc import. ICliPathInstaller.DescribeAsync has a default falling back to Disclosure, so the CLI and the startup dialog keep their text.
Verification
Capacitor.App.Tests.Unit: 4722 passed, 0 failed
Capacitor.Cli.Core.Tests.Unit: 5324 passed, 0 failed (new tests cover each DescribeAsync outcome)

New Features
PATH setup guidance now identifies the planned installation location and relevant steps, including when administrator approval or a shell profile update may be needed. It also clarifies when an existing link will be left unchanged or PATH cannot be configured.
Setup guidance and import instructions visually distinguish commands and paths from explanatory text.
Style
Updated onboarding status displays, bundled-tool labels, and compact buttons for a clearer, more consistent layout.
Service status now uses a progress indicator while installing and a state-colored indicator when installation is complete.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.

Walkthrough
PATH installers now describe the destination or fallback for the current setup. Onboarding displays those descriptions and the import hint as formatted spans. Success-state layouts and onboarding typography have also changed.
Changes: Onboarding PATH disclosure and presentation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Describe the PATH setup src/Capacitor.Cli.Core/Setup/*, test/Capacitor.Cli.Core.Tests.Unit/PathShimInstallerTests.cs
Installers return disclosure spans for the selected PATH destination or fallback. Tests cover PATH and profile descriptions and verify that describing options does not create files or links.
Load and render the disclosure plan src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/Onboarding/*, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/OnboardingSpans.cs, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/HarnessesPaneView.axaml, test/Capacitor.App.Tests.Unit/WizardSimpleStepsTests.cs
The view model loads disclosure spans asynchronously and exposes the plan as PathNote. The view renders the spans, with code spans using the onboarding monospace font when available.
Update onboarding status layouts and buttons src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/Onboarding/DoneStepViewModel.cs, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/DonePaneView.axaml, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/OnboardingStyles.axaml, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/HarnessesPaneView.axaml, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/SignInPaneView.axaml, src/Capacitor.App/Views/Onboarding/HistoryPaneView.axaml, test/Capacitor.App.Tests.Unit/DoneStepViewModelTests.cs
The Done page renders ImportHint as spans and displays service status without the previous pill. Resolved PATH, sign-in, and tenant-picker states use horizontal stacks. Onboarding typography and compact button styling are updated.
kurrent-io/kcap-cli#1778: This change updates PATH outcome reporting and success presentation, but does not implement the requested install-time PATH linking or launcher-banner clearing.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 67baa
Some uncommon PATH setups may show misleading instructions or leave users needing manual recovery, but the impact is localized and recoverable.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 67baa
The new descriptions remain informational. Installation still independently checks conflicts, verifies command resolution, and requests administrator authorization where required. No material security risk introduced or worsened by this change was identified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The reviewed change operates within the desktop user's local setup environment. Existing installation can affect stable command folders, the user's shell profile, or /usr/local/bin through administrator authorization; the added description API does not gain those mutation privileges.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The new description call can execute the configured login shell and its startup files while probing PATH. However, production onboarding already probes KcapOnPathAsync through the same shell mechanism before deciding whether to construct PathFixViewModel. This adds a probe, not a newly established shell trust boundary.
observed — Installation continues to reject CR/LF target data, treat foreign or unresolved filesystem entries as conflicts, and use non-forcing link creation. A stale description does not authorize overwriting a conflicting entry or bypass the administrator prompt.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Recovery remains non-transactional as before: normal failed PATH-verification attempts try to remove newly created candidate links, while profile-update failure can leave the CLI linked and return a failure detail. The description path adds no installer-owned persistent state requiring rollback.

Polish onboarding success rows and show machine-specific PATH plans
🐞 Bug fix✨ Enhancement🕐 40+ Minutes
AI Description
• Show sign-in and harness success messages as check rows, and align compact buttons with other
CTAs.
• Describe the PATH change this machine would make, with paths and commands in monospace.
• Preserve existing CLI and startup disclosures while adding tests for the PATH-plan branches.
The following are alternative approaches to this PR:
1. Share a destination planner with installation
➕ Reduces the risk of description and installation rules drifting apart.
➖ Requires a broader installer refactor; a dry run still cannot predict whether linking or verification will succeed.
Recommendation: The read-only description is appropriate for this focused onboarding fix: it avoids filesystem changes and preserves existing disclosures elsewhere. A shared planner is worth considering if destination-selection rules grow, but is not necessary for this PR.

Description
WritableFolderOnTerminalPathAsync accepts an already-installed link without checking whether the

3. PATH note promises an install that will fail✓ Resolved
Description
DescribeAsync selects a destination and describes the link or admin-password prompt without
running the Preflight(destination, target) check that InstallAsync performs. When that
destination contains a conflicting file or link, installation returns Failed and leaves it
untouched, so the note can promise a link or, for an admin user, a password prompt that never
occurs.

7. New path tests manually own temp folders 📘 Rule violation▣ Testability
Description
PathShimInstallerTests creates TempDir with using var inside each newly added test instead of

Closes #1994 — Linear id pending import
What & why
Three setup-wizard fixes. Success messages (sign-in "Connected to …", harnesses "can now find kcap") render as a plain check row instead of a bordered banner inside a card. The harnesses PATH note now says only what will happen on this machine — the writable PATH folder,
/usr/local/binwith the admin prompt, or~/.local/binplus the~/.zprofileline — with paths in mono.onboardingCompactno longer sets the mono font, soRetrymatches the other CTAs. On the done step, the add-agent+lines up with the text column, the background service status is a dot and label like the agent rows, andkcap importis set in mono. Onboarding status labels (onboardingSignal, the history "from" list,BUNDLED) use the body font; mono stays on paths and commands.Where to look
