No GitHub or Linear issue exists yet.

What & why

The "Working for Xs" timer only showed on the session rail, and in the chat pane only beside a failure. A new ChatLiveNote row above the composer shows it while the agent is starting or working, with the ouro mascot as the spinner.

Where to look

Svg.Skia ignores the SVG's CSS keyframes, so OuroMascot bakes the six poses into separate images and steps them every 120 ms, only while playing and attached.

Verification

Not built or launched yet. Draft until it is.

📝 Walkthrough

The chat view now displays live activity text and an animated mascot beneath the messages. It reserves scrollable space after the latest user turn and follows the chat to the end after non-rejected sends.

The view model separates live-note visibility from failure-note visibility and uses RunRow.Duration for working-time text. OuroMascot renders animated SVG frames from the embedded resource. Tests cover turn-submission events and updated duration formatting.

High-Level Assessment

The following are alternative approaches to this PR:

1. Pre-render mascot frames as image assets
  • ➕ Avoids rewriting and parsing SVG at runtime.
  • ➖ Adds generated assets and makes the animation harder to maintain alongside its SVG source.

Recommendation: Keep the live note inside the scroll content and use the tail panel to reserve space without adding a synthetic transcript item. Runtime SVG poses are reasonable for six cached frames because Svg.Skia does not play the asset's CSS animation; build and visual verification remain important.

Remediation recommended

1. Mascot animation timer starts ticking at construction ✓ Resolved
Description
OuroMascot creates its DispatcherTimer with the (interval, priority, callback) constructor.
That overload calls Start() immediately, so the timer runs and swaps Source before Sync has
checked IsPlaying or VisualRoot. It only stops once the control is attached to the visual tree;
an instance that is created but never attached keeps ticking, and because the dispatcher holds a
running timer, the control is never released.
Code

src/Capacitor.App/Views/OuroMascot.cs[R26-29]

+    public OuroMascot() {
+        _timer = new DispatcherTimer(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(120), DispatcherPriority.Render, (_, _) => Advance());
+        Source = Frames[0];
+    }
Relevance

●●● Strong

The timer lifecycle violates the stated attached-and-playing contract and can retain detached
controls through the dispatcher.

ⓘ Recommendations generated based on similar findings in past PRs

Evidence
The constructor only builds the timer and never stops it. Sync() is the only place that calls
_timer.Stop(), and it runs only on an IsPlaying change or on attach/detach. The class comment
promises frames step 'only while IsPlaying and on screen', and that does not hold from construction
until the first attach.

src/Capacitor.App/Views/OuroMascot.cs[23-61]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

## Issue description
`new DispatcherTimer(TimeSpan, DispatcherPriority, EventHandler)` starts the timer straight away, so the mascot animates and stays rooted by the dispatcher until it is first attached.

## Fix Focus Areas
- src/Capacitor.App/Views/OuroMascot.cs[26-29]

## Recommended Fix
Create the timer without starting it: `_timer = new DispatcherTimer(DispatcherPriority.Render) { Interval = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(120) }; _timer.Tick += (_, _) => Advance();`. Leave `Sync()` as the only place that starts the timer.

2. Readers get yanked to the bottom by failed or late sends ✓ Resolved
Description
FollowSentTurn subscribes to completion of SendCommand.Merge(SendQueuedCommand) and calls
ScrollToEnd() with _followTail = true, rather than responding when a turn is actually submitted.
Because SendComposerAsync completes only after uploads and the server round-trip—and can return
normally after a failed upload or refused send—while SendQueuedCommand also completes after guard
failures or a Rejected outcome, a reader who scrolled back can be moved to the tail seconds later
or when no turn was added.
Code

src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatTabView.axaml.cs[R110-111]

+        _sent?.Dispose();
+        _sent = DataContext is ChatTabViewModel vm ? vm.SendCommand.Merge(vm.SendQueuedCommand).Subscribe(_ => FollowSentTurn()) : null;
Relevance

●●● Strong

Accepted follow-tail fixes address gesture and scroll-state correctness; late command completion can
wrongly reset reader position.

PR-#1640
PR-#1470

ⓘ Recommendations generated based on similar findings in past PRs

Evidence
SendCommand awaits SendComposerAsync, so its completion emission follows the upload and server
round-trip, including normal-return paths for failed uploads and refused sends. SendQueuedCommand
likewise completes normally after its early guards or a Rejected outcome. The view subscribes to
the merged command emissions and calls ScrollToEnd() unconditionally, setting _followTail = true
without checking whether a transcript turn was submitted.

src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[1092-1134]
src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[1150-1179]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

## Issue description
`ChatTabView.FollowSentTurn` reacts to command completion, which can occur long after submission or when no turn was submitted. This can move a reader away from an earlier position and reset follow-tail for a failed, refused, or no-op send.

## Fix Focus Areas
- src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatTabView.axaml.cs[110-122]
- src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[780-827]
- src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[1092-1179]

## Recommended Fix
Have the view model expose an explicit event or observable, such as `TurnSubmitted`, and raise it when a composer or queued turn has actually been submitted, after the relevant guards pass rather than on command completion. Do not raise it for early returns, failed uploads, refused sends, or `Rejected` outcomes. Subscribe the view to that signal instead of the merged command outputs, preserving follow-tail behavior for both successful composer and queued sends.

3. Shell commands stay at the bottom ✓ Resolved
Description
LastUserTurnTop recognizes only UserTurnItem, although an echoed user-authored bang command
becomes a ShellCommandItem. After that command is sent, the reserve targets an older ordinary user
turn or no turn, so scrolling to the end does not place the new command at the top.
Code

src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatVirtualizingPanel.cs[R35-36]

+            for (var i = Items.Count - 1; i >= 0; i--)
+                if (Items[i] is UserTurnItem) return _starts[i];
Relevance

●●● Strong

The lookup omits a user-authored transcript subtype, a deterministic correctness gap in the new
pinning behavior.

PR-#1470

ⓘ Recommendations generated based on similar findings in past PRs

Evidence
Claude's transcript projection marks bang commands as shell user messages; the chat model creates a
ShellCommandItem for those messages, and its template displays the command as a right-aligned 'You'
row. The new lookup skips that type.

src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[1325-1336]
src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatTabView.axaml[155-164]
src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatVirtualizingPanel.cs[32-39]
src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatTailPanel.cs[23-30]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

## Issue description
The latest-turn lookup skips user-authored shell commands, so the new scroll reserve does not pin those turns.
## Fix Focus Areas
- src/Capacitor.App/Views/ChatVirtualizingPanel.cs[32-39]
- src/Capacitor.App/ViewModels/ChatTabViewModel.cs[1325-1336]
## Recommended Fix
Include shell-command user rows in the latest user-turn lookup, and cover both ordinary prompts and bang commands in the pinning behavior.
