Jonathan Capalbo | Portfolio

I'm a customer operations professional seeking early-career roles in business analysis, reporting, operations, business systems, and project coordination. This portfolio shows how I organize information, investigate issues, document processes, and turn activity records into reports.

At Comcast/Xfinity, I built Power Automate flows for a team of 10 to filter reports, share results in Teams, distribute daily Excel reports by email, and schedule messages and confirmation emails. These were internal workflows; source files and screenshots are unavailable. No quantified savings are claimed.

I also tested a workplace Excel activity tracker, found days missing from monthly totals, and corrected the formulas so those days contributed correctly. The public Excel workbook below is a fictional reconstruction, separate from that workplace testing example.

Chicago Food Inspections

An academic team project using real-world City of Chicago food inspection data. Two Tableau dashboards compare evaluated-inspection failure rates by ZIP, facility group, recorded risk, inspection context and time across 2019-2025. The web summary includes the denominator, findings, source preparation and limitations.

I developed the Tableau dashboards for this academic team project. The team includes Jon Capalbo, Camerun Hannah, Mostafa Moawad and Yovanny Moscoso Huaman. Our presentation is upcoming and will be a team effort. This is coursework, with no claimed business impact.

The public workbook copy preserves the source CSV bytes and analytical definitions while removing Tableau author/machine fingerprint metadata. The original local workbook is unchanged. Both dashboards were opened in Tableau Desktop 2026.2 and exported for the page's previews. The separate HTML charts summarize the embedded data. Tableau Public hosts an all-row, unaggregated extract with both dashboard tabs visible; its workbook copying/download option is disabled because Tableau adds machine metadata when publishing. Use the sanitized website workbook download.

Activity Reporting: Excel and Tableau

A workplace initiative: an Excel workbook that connects daily activity logs to a monthly summary and dashboard. The public workbook uses fictional sample data. It includes entry checks, editable goals, and charts that show why monthly results and daily targets can tell different stories.

The new Tableau portfolio extension uses the same 465 fictional records. It adds outcome counts, adjustable daily targets, and record drilldowns. A separate React browser implementation lets reviewers inspect the data without opening Tableau. These extensions are separate from the workplace Excel initiative and prior Tableau coursework. All records and results are fictional.

The browser explorer is a focused React island on the existing static page. React and ReactDOM 18.3.1 are pinned and self-hosted in assets/vendor/react-18.3.1; their MIT license is included. No package installation, transpiler, build step, or runtime CDN is required. Serve the site over HTTP for the JSON dataset to load. Static totals, the Tableau export, and downloads remain available when JavaScript or data loading is unavailable. The Excel walkthrough retains its existing plain JavaScript controls.

NJIT Registrar ServiceNow Portal

An academic project focused on making registration information easier to find and follow. I configured a searchable school-lab portal, organized help articles, and revised registration guidance. The case study includes a lab screenshot and a clearly labeled recreation of the revised article.

This was coursework, not a change to NJIT's live registrar service. No real student records are included.

Arcade Operations Ticketing Modernization

A self-directed planning study for handling arcade maintenance requests. It shows a proposed workflow, requirements, and checks that could be used to test whether a future system meets those requirements.

The scenario is hypothetical. No system was implemented, tests were not run, and no business results are claimed.

Movie Rental Database

My Oracle SQL final for an undergraduate database class. It connects customers, movie copies, and rental history, with a query showing which copies have not been returned.

The public copy uses fictional customer details. The original ran successfully in Oracle, with 43 validation checks passed and two rental-rule gaps documented in the case study. A separate AI-assisted portfolio extension adds return-date ordering and one-open-rental-per-copy controls. All 20 revision checks passed in SQL*Plus on Oracle AI Database 26ai Free, version 23.26.3.0.0; object validation found zero invalid objects. Concurrent-session behavior and performance were not tested.

Additional independent project

The Private Job-Search Operations System is based on a customized private fork of Mads Lorentzen's AI Job Search. I adapted the workflow for discovery, duplicate checks, source validation, resume verification, and application tracking. The case study uses synthetic examples; the repository and application records remain private.

Resumes

Both resumes describe the same work history, with different emphasis for each role family.
