🐛 bug: honor repeated Accept-Encoding and Cache-Control lines in compress - #4708
Conversation
…ress The compress middleware negotiated the encoding from c.Get(Accept-Encoding), which returns the first field line only, and checked the request Cache-Control for no-transform the same way. RFC 9110 §5.3 treats repeated field lines as one comma-separated list, so a request sending `Accept-Encoding: identity` and `Accept-Encoding: gzip` on two lines was served uncompressed, and a `no-transform` directive on a second Cache-Control line was ignored. Negotiate from Ctx.AcceptEncoding(), which joins the lines for this exact purpose (compressWith already restores every line), and check every Cache-Control line for no-transform.

I think this should be a Context or Request helper. Since it probably applies to other middlewares. |

Reviewer feedback on the compress fix: checking every field line of a directive-style request header for a member belongs in a Request helper, since other middlewares need the same thing. Add HasHeaderValue(key, value) to DefaultReq (promoted to Ctx). It walks every line of the header (RFC 9110 §5.3 treats repeated lines as one list) and matches the member under ASCII case folding, so an empty value is never present. compress now uses it for the request Cache-Control no-transform check instead of a package-local helper. Interfaces regenerated with ifacemaker; docs and a benchmark added.

headerlist.ContainsFold splits at every comma, so a Cache-Control line such as `ext="x,no-transform,y"` reported a no-transform member that was never sent, and compress skipped compression. RFC 9111 permits quoted directive arguments, so walk the members with headerlist.AllQuoted, which keeps a comma inside a quoted string, and compare each with utils.EqualFold. Adds the repeated-line quoted-argument case to the Ctx test and a compress test asserting the response is still compressed.

AllQuoted treats every '"' as a quote toggle, so Cache-Control: ext="a\"", no-transform hid the real no-transform and compress gzipped a body main left alone. A new headerlist.AllQuotedPairs skips the byte after a backslash inside quotes (RFC 9110 Section 5.6.4); AllQuoted stays as is for entity tags, where a backslash is a literal etagc.

HasHeaderValue collected every field line through PeekAll even for a header the request does not carry, which cost compress 4 to 5 ns per request (+2% in Benchmark_Compress). It now looks the header up once first; that lookup steps over empty lines, so a header whose first line is empty is still read in full. Benchmark_Compress is 5% faster than main with it.

Description
The compress middleware negotiated the response encoding from
c.Get(fiber.HeaderAcceptEncoding), which returns the firstAccept-Encodingfield line only, and checked the requestCache-Controlforno-transformthe same way.RFC 9110 §5.3 says repeated field lines of the same name are one comma-separated list (and §12.5.3 covers
Accept-Encoding). So a request sendingwas served uncompressed (
negotiateEncoding("identity")yields nothing), and ano-transformdirective on a secondCache-Controlline was ignored and the body was compressed anyway.Ctx.AcceptEncoding()already joins the lines for exactly this purpose, andcompressWithin the same file already saves and restores everyAccept-Encodingline withPeekAll, so the middleware was inconsistent with itself.Changes introduced
compress: negotiate fromc.AcceptEncoding()instead of the first line.compress: check every requestCache-Controlline (c.GetAll) forno-transform.Test_Compress_Repeated_Accept_Encoding_LinesandTest_Compress_Repeated_Cache_Control_Lines_No_Transform. Both fail onmainand pass with this change;go test -race ./middleware/compress/andgolangci-lint run ./middleware/compress/...are clean. No behavior change for requests that send a single line.
