fix(chat): a send stamped before the first transcript read keeps the whole-second guard - #3192
A send the PC stamps (sending_at, #3165) gets a baseline whose pcFloor is the stamp. For a transcript with whole-second times (Grok), newerThanSend accepted any turn with at + 1000 >= pcFloor. When the stamp came before the chat's first transcript read, the baseline held no shown turns, so an older identical turn of the same second (already answered within that second) cleared the new send's waiting copy. The unstamped first-read path keeps a guard for exactly this case; the stamped path skipped it.
Fix (src/lib/sentWaiting.ts)
stampedBaseline marks a baseline made from the stamp alone (no read behind it) with unread: true.
In the pcFloor branch, a turn at or after the floor settles at once, as before. A turn admitted only by the whole-second slack on an unread baseline needs the unstamped path's evidence: it is the last turn read, or a turn after it is dated in a later second.
The slack comparison is now strict (at + coarse > pcFloor): a whole-second turn dated exactly one second before the floor was written before it.
The guard is deliberately limited to unread baselines. An adversarial Codex pass showed that applying it to every stamped send keeps a Grok send waiting for the full 60 s whenever its answer starts in the same second (Grok keeps the answer's start time), which is the common case after a read. Before the first read that trade-off is the one the unstamped path already accepts.
Known limit (unchanged, shared with the unstamped path)
Before the chat's first read, if an older identical turn is followed by an unrelated turn from another device in a later second before the new send's own turn is written, the later turn counts as the older one's answer and settles the send. Same behaviour as the existing unstamped guard.
Validation
Failing first: the new test "keeps a send the PC stamped before the chat's first read waiting past an older identical turn of the stamp's second" failed on origin/main and passes with the fix.
New test "settles a stamped send after the chat's read by its own whole-second turn though the answer began in that second" pins the regression Codex found in a broader first version.

bun run check fast: pass (12799 unit tests, typecheck, build).
Skipped: integration and browser suites (client logic only, covered by unit tests).
Review: Codex (gpt-6.1-terra, adversarial) on the first version; its MEDIUM regression and LOW boundary are fixed here, its second MEDIUM is the known limit above.
Fixed chat send status when a message is sent before the conversation’s first load. An older identical message from the same second no longer causes the new message to appear completed prematurely.
Improved recognition of messages sent after the conversation has already loaded, including when the reply arrives in the same second.
Tests
Added coverage for pending and completed send status in these timing scenarios.
A stamped send made before the first transcript read no longer settles from an earlier identical turn in the same whole second. The waiting baseline tracks whether a prior read exists, and the matching logic applies an ambiguity guard to unread baselines.
WaitingBaseline gains an optional unread marker. stampedBaseline sets it when no prior baseline exists and preserves the existing keys and takenAt when a prior baseline exists.
Match turns and validate settlement src/lib/sentWaiting.ts, src/lib/sentWaiting.test.ts, changelog.d/chat-stamped-send-same-second.md
newerThanSend applies the PC timestamp floor and an ambiguity guard for unread baselines. Tests cover pre-read and post-read sends with same-second transcript turns. The changelog records the fix.
devswha/ovis#2717: Preserves loaded transcript baselines across a sibling disconnect, which relates to distinguishing prior baselines from unread stamped sends.
devswha/ovis#2898: Uses PC response time to prevent older identical turns from settling waiting sends under clock skew.

The change addresses pre-read same-second settlement ambiguity. The remaining empty-read edge case already exists independently of this change and does not block merging this fix after normal checks.

Codex adversarial, pass 1 (broad first version): MEDIUM, a stamped send after a read stayed waiting 60 s when its Grok answer started in the same second -> fixed by limiting the guard to baselines made from the stamp alone (unread), pinned by a test. LOW, exact-second boundary admitted an older turn -> fixed (strict comparison). MEDIUM, an unrelated later-second turn can count as an older turn's answer before the first read -> known limit shared with the unstamped path, noted in the PR body.
Codex adversarial, pass 2 (this head): no unread-marker leak into a baseline taken after a read; strict boundary accepts the send's own second. One MEDIUM: before the chat's first read, a send whose answer starts in the same second as its own turn stays waiting until the 60 s expiry. This is the trade-off Chat: a send stamped before the first transcript read can be settled by an earlier identical turn in the same second #3166 asks for: the unstamped first-read path already behaves this way (existing test "settles a whole-second turn for a send made before the chat's first read once a turn after it is in a later second"), and it only applies when the send was stamped before the chat's first transcript read. Accepted, no further round.
