Upstream's /docs/* rule also ignored docs/fork/, so every fork PR had to stage CHANGES.md with git add -f, and a plain git add in an && chain failed the rest of the chain. Add the two exceptions beside upstream's docs/next, docs/preview and docs/versions ones, and drop the AGENTS.md note that told sessions to work around it. …fork-docs docs/fork/CHANGES.md conflict only: this branch and master (#119) each added a new section at the same spot. Kept both whole, this branch's section first because the ledger is newest first. | - **Replaces:** nothing upstream. Upstream's `/docs/*` rule ignored the fork's own ledger, so every fork PR needed `git add -f`, and a plain `git add` in an `&&` chain failed the rest of the chain. | ||
| - **Regression check:** `git check-ignore docs/fork/CHANGES.md` exits 1. **Collision:** an upstream edit to the `/docs/*` block of `.gitignore`; keep both `!/docs/fork/` lines. |

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Make the ignore regression check inspect tracked paths.
docs/fork/CHANGES.md is already tracked. git check-ignore skips tracked paths unless --no-index is used, so this command can return 1 even when /docs/* still ignores the path. Use git check-ignore --no-index docs/fork/CHANGES.md; keep exit 1 as the expected result.

…on-edit docs/fork/CHANGES.md conflict only: this branch and master (#115, #119) each added a new section at the same spot. Kept all three whole, this branch's section first because the ledger is newest first. AGENTS.md merged without a conflict.
