Activity
bendu commentedon Apr 2, 2026
Is this still on track for April 2026?
crepererum commentedon Apr 7, 2026
Kinda depends on the two major PRs that we wanna get in, but from my PoV that should be possible.
bendu commentedon Apr 10, 2026
Thank you for the update @crepererum Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
alamb commentedon Jun 2, 2026
Given we are nwo past April (and into June) are we planning on this one? It looks like
Was merged with API changes so we'll have to do a 0.14 release (rather than 0.13.x)
alamb commentedon Jun 3, 2026
It would be great to also get an update to reqwest in as well, for exmaple
kevinjqliu commentedon Jun 9, 2026
Thanks for starting this @alamb
I have 2 related PRs for OneLake (an ADLS compatible storage product)
both are well-tested and changes isolated to OneLake only
alamb commentedon Jun 9, 2026
I added to the list above
kevinjqliu commentedon Jun 9, 2026
im going through the PRs above and some that are marked ready for review. please lmk if theres anything else i can help with
kevinjqliu commentedon Jun 9, 2026
Flagging Makes reqwest optional (#724), its similar to Pluggable Crypto / Update reqwest 0.13 (#707)
alamb commentedon Jun 11, 2026
Also added the feature flag discussion to the release check list (well really its resolution)
alamb commentedon Jun 11, 2026
BTW I am out tomorrow (Fri June 12, 2026) but will be back after that and help drive this release next week
alamb commentedon Jun 16, 2026
Update:
alamb commentedon Jun 16, 2026
I'll plan to merge both PRs and prepare a release candidate tomorrow
3 remaining items
alamb commentedon Jun 17, 2026
update here is I think we have all the planned content for this release other than
I also did some testing downstream with arrow and datafusion here:
And the API updates are minimal (though definitely still breaking)
I am just waiting for CI to complete and will merge once that is complete
alamb commentedon Jun 17, 2026
Ok, I have the final release notes PR created
Will merge that in later tonight and cut a release candidate
Anyone else following along on this ticket, it would be great if you could test with the release candidate / tag:
alamb commentedon Jun 18, 2026
I have created the release candidate and started a vote thread:

Verified the upgrade on our end! Looking forward. :)
a-kenji commentedon Jun 22, 2026
Since this is tagged as a GitHub release, is there a plan to also release it on crates.io?
alamb commentedon Jun 22, 2026
Yes -- I will do shortly. I needed to complete the ASF release process.
ALso, we should probably update our release process to not create github releases prior to ASF approval. I will file a ticket
alamb commentedon Jun 22, 2026
The release was officially approved and is now available on crates.io
https://crates.io/crates/object_store/0.14.0
Result thread: https://lists.apache.org/thread/zth8vo40wvtdbjy77fn6bt0j5wlk64cp
Filed a ticket to track avoiding github releases prior to official relese
Thank you everyone

Next planned release
0.14.1(non-breaking) - Target August 2026 #761kevinjqliu commentedon Jun 22, 2026
Thanks for driving the release @alamb!
kylebarron commentedon Jun 22, 2026
Likewise, thanks for driving the release @alamb
Do we want to have Github "Releases" for releases or are we ok just having tags? The releases page is empty: https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs-object-store/releases
alamb commentedon Jun 22, 2026
I don't have any preference as I only use what is published to crates.io in my projects -- if people want releases I bet we can make that happen
kylebarron commentedon Jun 22, 2026
I don't have a strong preference.
On other projects I'm less involved in but depend on, I like to set up "watch events" only for Releases:
I'm not sure if tags also send those events to watchers.
kevinjqliu commentedon Jun 22, 2026
The auto generated github release notes might be helpful. I dont have strong preference either
I think the CHANGELOG does a pretty good job already https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs-object-store/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#v0140-2026-06-18
