alive-statusline.sh finds the world root by walking up from cwd:
while [ "$DIR"!="/" ];do
...
DIR="$(dirname "$DIR")"done
On native Windows (Git Bash / MINGW64), dirname never returns /. It bottoms out at C: for a C:/... path and at . for a C:\... path. Claude Code passes cwd as C:/path/to/world, so the loop never ends: it pegs a core and the statusline never renders. Traced with a realistic JSON payload on stdin: 20s timeout, exit 124, no output.
The script already detects Windows for icon selection, so the platform is known at that point. The walk-up just has no fixed-point guard. Present in 3.2.2 and still present in 3.2.3 (line 86).
Local patch, verified (exits 0, detects a world containing .alive/, reports "no world detected" correctly when there is none):
Each plugin update overwrites the patched copies, so it has to be re-applied by hand.
Expected Behaviour
The walk-up should stop at the filesystem root on every platform. A guard that breaks when dirname stops changing the path works on Windows, macOS and Linux alike.
