feat(h3): h3-flash-attention-v1, optional fused strict backend for h3_full_attention - #576
Adds H3FlashAttentionOp (rl_engine/backends/shared/triton/attention/h3_flash.py): fixed-order Triton flash attention with the same scope and fail-closed contract as [WS1][CUDA][MiniMax-H3] Add batch-invariant full attention #553 (BF16 contiguous BSHD [B,S,56,128], non-causal MHA, first derivatives, CUDA).
Contract: ascending key/query tile order, fixed tiles, no autotune / split-KV / atomics, FP32 accumulators, P = P_hi + P_lo second MMA, no TF32 / fast-math. Batch-invariant and head-independent (TP / Ulysses CP shards give the same bytes). Bitwise per architecture family.
Block-0 attention node (forward, real weights): 925 tokens 0.27 vs 5.61 ms, 4253 tokens 2.27 vs 113.5 ms, 8349 tokens 7.87 vs 435.6 ms (provider 0.14 / 0.97 / 3.27 ms). Whole-block strict total at 4253: 69.8 vs 181.5 ms; at 8349: 133.5 vs 562.7 ms (provider 8.4 / 17.0 ms), where the remaining gap is dominated by the interim O / gate_up / down linears, not attention.
Flash is still 1.6x to 2.3x slower than SDPA in fwd+bwd; this is the cost of the fixed-order contract.
Bitwise (925 tokens, H100): flash and #553 give 0 mismatching elements in out/dq/dk/dv over 20 repeats, batch 3 vs 1 and a 14-of-56 head shard; SDPA (provider) shows about 6e-5 mismatching dq elements in each case. flash vs #553 differ in up to 7.1% of elements (different summation order).
…full_attention
Fixed-order Triton flash attention with the same scope and fail-closed contract
as RL-Align#553 (BF16 BSHD, 56x128, non-causal, first derivatives). Optional backend;
does not modify or replace H3FullAttentionOp.

Please compute delta before BF16 output rounding. With S=2, Q=0, K=1, V rows filled with 1 and 1.0078125, and dO=1, this formula gives dQ ≈ 0.0442 instead of zero. Please preserve the FP32 output or recompute delta, and add this regression case.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in acd66ce. The forward pass now also writes an FP32 copy of O (out32). Backward computes delta from that FP32 output instead of the BF16-rounded O, and autograd saves the FP32 tensor. This costs one extra FP32 buffer the size of O.
Regression case: test_delta_uses_fp32_output (your S=2 repro). It fails without the fix (dQ = 0.0442) and passes with it.
Verified on Hopper (H100): all 9 tests in tests/backends/cuda/test_h3_flash_attention.py pass, including the bitwise-repeatable, batch-invariance and head-shard-invariance checks. Also passes on B200.
Delta = rowsum(O * dO) was read from the BF16-rounded output, biasing dQ.
Forward now also writes an FP32 O that backward uses for delta; add a
regression for the S=2, Q=0, K=1 tie case.

Thanks, my review comment has been addressed, including the regression test. Please add the missing sign-off on acd66ce to clear DCO. Once the remaining checks pass, this is ready for approval from my side.

Control execution order in backend comparisons.
The benchmark always measures flash, SDPA, and then #553. Cache and GPU clock effects can affect a fixed-order comparison. Alternate or randomize the order for each sample, and record the executed order with raw timings. Based on learnings, fixed-order comparisons need this control or an accepted alternative. docs/operators/README.md:9-17 says every operator page should include a public Python entry point, input and output shapes and dtypes, and a minimal usage example. The optional status does not provide an exception. Add these details to docs/operators/h3-flash-attention.md so readers do not need to derive the API from benchmark code.

@coderabbitai, nitpick: Control execution order in backend comparisons (h3_flash_attention_bench.py).
Fixed in 7add0ef. The measurement order is now rotated per sequence length, and each result row records the order that was used (order). It is a rotation per length, not a per-sample randomization, so a fixed order within one length is gone but this is not a full counterbalanced design; the timings stay medians and the page already notes the 10 to 30 percent run-to-run spread at small sizes.
@coderabbitai, nitpick: Add the public usage and output contract (docs/operators/h3-flash-attention.md).
Fixed in 7add0ef. The page has a new Usage section with the public entry point (H3FlashAttentionOp), input and output shapes and dtypes, the fail-closed behaviour, the 2**31 element limit, and a minimal example.
@coderabbitai, pre-merge check: Docstring coverage is 0.00% (threshold 80.00%).
Addressed in 7add0ef. The Python-level functions, methods and classes in h3_flash.py now have docstrings (_validate, _strides, flash_forward, flash_backward, _FlashFn and its forward/backward, H3FlashAttentionOp.__call__ and provenance). The @triton.jit kernels do not have docstrings yet; whether the checker reaches the 80% threshold will show on its next run.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Alternate implementation order at each sequence length.
Rotation by idx gives each sequence length only one measurement order. timed then measures all repetitions for one implementation before it measures the next. Clock and thermal changes can therefore affect the comparison at that length. Alternate or randomize order across samples for the same length, and record each executed order with its raw timings. (docs.nvidia.com)
Based on learnings, fixed sequential benchmark comparisons need per-sample order variation and recorded raw timings.

@fusheng-ji I verified that the Python-level functions, methods, and classes in rl_engine/backends/shared/triton/attention/h3_flash.py now have docstrings. The five @triton.jit functions remain undocumented, as you noted.
The 80% coverage requirement is still unverified. The CodeRabbit check is pending, and no coverage result is available. Please check the next coverage result; if it remains below 80%, add docstrings for the definitions counted by the checker. This finding remains unresolved until coverage is confirmed.
