feat(chat): smooth streaming, one live line, and one-line rows in the ACP chat - #8163

The sweeping band was painted in the page background over muted text, so it read as a dark notch moving through the label. The band is now the foreground colour over the same muted base, so the sweep reads as a highlight. The sweep is a CSS keyframe behind an animate-shimmer token instead of a per-frame motion/react animation; duration is passed as a custom property. Under prefers-reduced-motion the label is plain muted text with no gradient and no animation. motion stays a dependency of packages/ui: ChatHistorySidebar still uses it.
The working line, the running file-change verb and the reasoning trigger sweep in 1.2 s instead of the 2 s default. The reasoning trigger's "Thinking..." label is regular weight at the trigger's own size, so it matches the working line under it instead of sitting smaller and bolder.
While a call runs, its kind icon gives way to a dashed ring that turns once every 3.6 s, and its title sweeps at the chat tempo. Settled calls keep their kind icon and recede as before. The ring holds still under prefers-reduced-motion.
An opaque muted-foreground base sits too close to the foreground band in the dark theme, so the sweep was barely visible. The base is now the foreground colour at 40%, which gives the band the same contrast in both themes. The repeat value also used padding-box, which is not a repeat keyword, so the whole declaration was dropped and both layers tiled; it is now no-repeat.
The hand-drawn ring used a dash pattern that does not divide the circumference, so one segment was short and the seam showed as it turned, and its 2px stroke at the row colour read heavier than the text. CircleDashed has eight even segments; it is drawn at 1.75px and 40% foreground so it sits behind the title.
Reply text arrived in bursts: nothing for a few hundred milliseconds, then up to 145 characters at once. The reply now shows whole words at a steady pace that never drops below 90 characters a second and closes on a backlog in about a quarter second. Text already present when the row mounts shows at once. Each new block fades in over 320 ms. The fade is per block, not per word: inserting an element costs this renderer a style recalculation of the whole document, so per-word spans capped the reveal near 20 fps, while growing text nodes stays cheap. The streaming tail is keyed like the block it becomes, so a finished paragraph keeps its DOM. Empty blocks between paragraphs no longer add a second gap. The copy, branch and time actions sit under a turn's last reply once it has settled instead of reserving a row under every reply.
…s measure A turn had two indicators: a plain clock above the prompt and a separate "Working…" line at the bottom that mounted and unmounted between steps, restarting its sweep each time. The clock now sits under the prompt, sweeps once a second while the turn runs, and stays as "Worked for 8s" at half strength. The bottom line is gone. The column widens to 56rem with 16px row gutters and a 4px row rhythm; prose sits closer under the work it follows than under the prompt. The prompt bubble is a 10% foreground fill, a pill when it fits one line and 12px corners otherwise, up to 36rem wide.
Reasoning is one quiet line: "Thinking..." sweeping until the thought has words, then its first paragraph at half strength, breathing while it streams. The thought opens beneath it on click. A tool call is one line with no output preview or "Show detail" link under it: commands in 13px mono, files as a small mono chip, a dashed ring and a sweeping title while it runs, half strength once settled. The line itself opens what the call produced. A run of two or more calls sits under a summary line that sweeps while a step runs, with the steps hanging off a rail that branches to each row. The shared reasoning trigger in packages/ui goes back to its original weight and size: the chat no longer uses it. The catalogs drop the four strings that left with the old rows.
The timeline kept a running call out of its run until it settled, so a live step showed as a separate line below the run and jumped into it when it finished. It now joins the run as soon as it starts, so the running step sits on the rail with its ring and the run's summary sweeps.

Not changing this one. When a stream ends behind the reveal, revealEnd still cuts at the end of the current word; it only returns the full length once the position is inside the last word (for a 48-character text ending at position 5, it returns 7). usePacedText re-runs on the streaming change and keeps draining from what is shown at max(90 chars/s, backlog / 0.22 s), so the rest arrives paced rather than on the next frame. A large backlog does drain fast by design, with about a quarter-second time constant.

You're right — I overlooked that the streaming transition reruns usePacedText while preserving shown.current. revealEnd continues exposing complete words, and the backlog-based speed intentionally drains the remainder quickly rather than revealing it in one frame. The large final jump I described does not occur here, so this is not an actionable issue.

A turn that ended with a tool call or an interrupted or failed status after its last reply showed copy, branch and time under no reply at all. The actions now sit under the last reply of each turn, whatever rows follow it.
The summary split a thought into paragraphs before removing code blocks, so a block with a blank line inside leaked its opening fence and code into the line, and an open block showed raw code while streaming. A thought that began with a code block had an empty summary and its row disappeared, leaving the thought unreachable. Code blocks, closed or not, are removed first, and a finished thought with no prose falls back to "Thought for a few seconds".
The transcript was 56rem with no side padding while the prompt input was 48rem inside a 1.5rem gutter, so the conversation ran 128px wider than the box you type in, and 22px wider in narrow panes. Both now use one 48rem column inside the same gutter. The transcript reserves room for its scrollbar on both edges, so it measures that and takes it out of its padding; the column and its text line up with the prompt input at every width.
The paced reveal only cut at whitespace and held back a partial last word until it ended. Chinese, Japanese and other scripts written without spaces are one unbroken "word", so a streaming reply stayed hidden, and the fallback that releases a held word restarted on every new chunk. Any character edge in those scripts is now a cut, so they reveal a character at a time at the same pace. A held word longer than 32 characters, such as a long URL, shows anyway. Cuts never split a surrogate pair or separate a combining mark from its letter.
