What

The browser session list switched between auto-loading and a "Load more sessions" button depending on how the loaded sessions happened to fold. It now always auto-loads.

Why the button existed

A page that only extends a folded low-signal run adds no row, so the end-of-list sentinel stays in view and each loaded page immediately requests the next, up to the 500-session cap with no scrolling.

How

  • The list counts consecutive pages that add no visible row.
  • After 3 of those it stops observing the end of the list, and resumes on the next scroll / wheel / touchmove.
  • Any page that adds a row resets the count.

Testing

  • vitest run src/components/replays/sessions-list.browser.test.tsx (17 passed)

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Session lists now load additional pages automatically as you reach the end, rather than relying on a “Load more” button.
    • If three consecutive pages add no visible sessions, automatic loading pauses and resumes when you scroll, use the wheel or touch, or press a key.

🟢 Confidence 8/10 · likely safe to merge
The pause/resume state machine matches the pagination hook and is pinned by two new observer tests; only the set of resume triggers is short.
quality 90/100 · 1 warning · tests covered · risk medium

Replaces the "Load more sessions" button with always-auto-loading plus a stall guard: after three pages that add no visible row the sentinel is dropped until the user scrolls. The counting logic holds; the paused state has no keyboard-reachable resume.

Findings

🟠 Warning · F1 · Paused list has no keyboard-reachable resume

correctness · apps/web/src/components/replays/sessions-list.tsx:85

Once MAX_STALLED_PAGES pages add no row, SessionsList renders ResumeOnScroll, which is null in the DOM, and the only way back to auto-loading is a scroll, wheel or touchmove event on window. On a list too short to scroll — exactly the folded window this pause is for — keyboard scrolling fires no scroll event, so a keyboard-only user is left with a truncated list and no control to load the rest, where the removed LoadMoreButton was focusable.

Add `keydown` to `RESUME_EVENTS`, or render a focusable "Load more sessions" control next to `<ResumeOnScroll>` in the paused branch so the pause is both visible and reachable without a pointer.

Paused list has no keyboard-reachable resume
Once `MAX_STALLED_PAGES` pages add no row, `SessionsList` renders `ResumeOnScroll`, which is `null` in the DOM, and the only way back to auto-loading is a `scroll`, `wheel` or `touchmove` event on `window`. On a list too short to scroll — exactly the folded window this pause is for — keyboard scrolling fires no `scroll` event, so a keyboard-only user is left with a truncated list and no control to load the rest, where the removed `LoadMoreButton` was focusable.
Suggested fix: Add `keydown` to `RESUME_EVENTS`, or render a focusable "Load more sessions" control next to `<ResumeOnScroll>` in the paused branch so the pause is both visible and reachable without a pointer.
What was checked
  • Stall counting keys off sessions.length vs items.length; a row-adding page resets it, so no false pause in the unfolded case
  • Cap and cursor guards in useInfiniteReplays keep hasMore false at 500 sessions, so the pause cannot fight isCapped
  • Both new tests fail without the change: the first asserts disconnect only on the third stalled page and a second observer after fireEvent.scroll(window)

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

SessionsList replaces the manual “Load more sessions” button with automatic pagination that pauses after three consecutive pages add no visible rows. Scroll, wheel, touch movement, or a key press resumes observation. Browser tests cover these conditions.

Changes

Sessions pagination

Pause and resume automatic pagination
apps/web/src/components/replays/sessions-list.tsx, apps/web/src/components/replays/sessions-list.browser.test.tsx
SessionsList pauses automatic loading after three pages add sessions without adding visible rows. User input resumes observation. Browser tests cover pause and resume behavior, continued loading when pages add visible rows, and remove earlier manual-load expectations.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to d2690

Changing filters can leave the new session list paused until the user scrolls or presses a key. This is a bounded issue, but resetting the pause on filter changes would make auto-loading consistent.

🟢 Confidence 10/10 · safe to merge
The head change is one entry in RESUME_EVENTS, covered by a browser test that fails without it.
quality 100/100 · no findings · tests covered · risk low

The sessions list now resumes auto-loading on a key press as well as scroll, wheel and touchmove, closing the keyboard gap for a paused list. The one-line addition is safe to merge.

  • RESUME_EVENTS adds keydown, so a paused SessionsList resumes from the keyboard

Fixed since the last review

  • ✅ F1 · Paused list has no keyboard-reachable resume
What was checked
  • ResumeOnScroll binds and unbinds the same options object, so removeEventListener matches (sessions-list.tsx:109)
  • keydown on window in capture phase reaches the listener for a list too short to scroll (sessions-list.tsx:110)
  • New browser test resumes a paused list on a key press asserts a second ReachEndSentinel observer mounts

Reset the auto-load pause when the filter identity changes.

useRefreshableAtomValue keeps the previous result as a successful, waiting result, so SessionsList stays mounted while a new filter loads. When the new allData replaces the old list, useAutoLoadPause retains stalledPages. A broader result that adds sessions without adding visible rows can therefore remain paused, so ReachEndSentinel does not mount until a resume event occurs.
