    Issue Analysis

Root Cause: This bug is already fixed by [Insights] Improve chart tooltip dismissal. That PR merged on 2026-10-30 and went to staging in 9.5.27-0. You reported it on 9.5.25-0, which doesn't have the fix.

Recommended Fix: No code change is needed. Retest on staging 9.5.27-0 or later. If it no longer reproduces, close this issue.

I retested on web against current main. The tooltip disappears after clicking the chart, stays hidden on Inbox, and doesn't come back on Home until you hover again.

Home after return, no stale tooltip

    Investigation details

Why it happened (before the fix):

What the fix changed in ChartTooltip.tsx:

    • The portal renders only while the screen is focused (:179).
    • Any shown tooltip, hovered or pinned, is dismissed when the screen loses focus (:101-115).

Web retest (dev build of current main):

    Step Status
Hovering over the Spend over time chart shows a tooltipThe tooltip shows "Oct so far / $25 (100%) / 1 expense".
    Tooltip on hover
    ✅
Clicking the chart navigates away and the tooltip is goneClicking opens Insights, with no leftover tooltip.
    Insights after click, no tooltip
    ✅
Inbox shows no tooltipNo stray tooltip appears.
    Inbox, no tooltip
    ✅
Returning to Home shows no stale tooltipNo tooltip appears until you hover again.
Home after return, no stale tooltip
    ✅

Not verified: I retested a dev build of main, not the staging 9.5.27-0 build.

Next Steps: Retest on staging 9.5.27-0 or later and close this issue if it passes. If it still reproduces, reply with @MelvinBot <your feedback>.
