Android - Report auto scrolls to bottom when the keyboard opens for an input inside the report #102264

Open

Description

@MelvinBot

Split out of Restore: Show up to three report fields per row and edit them inline to track blocker 4, Android - Expense - Report auto scrolls to bottom after opening report field, on its own. daledah reproduced the same jump on main while editing a comment on Android, so this is not a regression from the report fields PR.

Action Performed

  1. Open a short report on Android, one whose content does not fill the screen.
  2. Focus any input inside the report actions list. For example, edit a comment or, with the report fields PR, tap a text report field.
  3. Type a few characters.

Expected Result

The report stays where it is when the keyboard opens and while you type.

Actual Result

The report scrolls to the bottom when the keyboard opens, and again while you type.

  • Android: App

Repro on main while editing a comment:

Suspected mechanism (not yet verified on a device)
  • For money request reports, src/hooks/useReportActionsScroll.ts:210-216 keeps maintainVisibleContentPosition.autoscrollToBottomThreshold at 0 on purpose.
  • On a short report, FlashList treats the list as always "near bottom", so it keeps setting its pending autoscroll-to-bottom flag.
  • When the Android keyboard opens, adjustResize changes the window height. FlashList then uses the flag and calls scrollToEnd.
  • Each keystroke sets the flag again, so the report jumps again while you type.
