[v3/Linux] Complete GTK4 default and GTK3 legacy Beta test matrix #5843
Track the remaining Phase 10 verification for the GTK4 + WebKitGTK 6.0 default and GTK3 + WebKit2GTK 4.1 legacy path. This is the authoritative work item linked from IMPLEMENTATION.md; mobile is experimental and outside this desktop Beta gate.
Build and compatibility coverage
Verify default and -tags gtk3 select clean, non-mixed implementations.
Test the GTK4 default on Ubuntu 24.04, Fedora, Arch, and documented minimum libraries.
Test GTK3 legacy on representative older supported systems.
Exercise X11 and Wayland, including positioning no-ops and compositor focus behavior.
Build and smoke-test v3 examples with both Linux backends.
#4965 - fix(linux/gtk4): window position, max size, and show/hide on X11 [merged] #4979 - fix(linux): remove Screen typedef collision with X11 Xlib.h [merged] #5463 - feat(linux): flip GTK4 + WebKitGTK 6.0 to the default build (#5459) [merged] #5477 - fix(v3/linux): wire common events + dbus monitors on GTK4 default path (#5474) [merged] #5831 - fix(linux): emit GTK4 window state events [open]

Closing this as the v3 Beta verification gate is now complete and recorded in IMPLEMENTATION.md.
Evidence:
docs(linux): record GTK beta verification evidence #5881 records the maintained CI matrix: Ubuntu installs both GTK4/WebKitGTK 6.0 and GTK3/WebKit2GTK 4.1, compiles all examples for both stacks, and runs the Go suite under D-Bus/Xvfb for both.
This closure does not assert that every compositor or benchmark scenario has been manually exercised. Wayland positioning and portal-dialog constraints are documented, and remaining Linux regressions stay tracked in #5838, #5839, and #5465. Performance and long-running leak benchmarking remain ongoing quality work rather than a Beta release gate.
