What if it was working fine, but I inadvertently enabled preboot auth later on? I assume I Boot windows to fix?

Great guide! For anyone on Fedora 44 who wants native KDE fingerprint integration (System Settings GUI, lock screen prompt, etc.), here's what I'm using:

Architecture

KDE System Settings / pam_fprintd.so
    ↕ D-Bus (net.reactivated.Fprint)
open-fprintd (replaces fprintd)
    ↕ D-Bus (io.github.uunicorn.Fprint)
python-validity (sensor driver)
    ↕ USB/TLS
Fingerprint sensor

Key steps on Fedora 44:

1. sudo systemctl mask fprintd (disable standard fprintd which doesn't support our sensor)
2. Install open-fprintd from source: git clone https://github.com/uunicorn/open-fprintd && cd open-fprintd && sudo pip3 install -e .
3. Install python-validity from source (use my fork with 0092 support or the device/0092 branch for HP): sudo pip3 install -e .
4. Deploy D-Bus configs + systemd services (see PR Add support for Validity sensor 138a:0092 (HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2) #259 for details)
5. Enable fingerprint in PAM: sudo authselect select local with-fingerprint --force
6. sudo systemctl enable --now open-fprintd python3-validity

After this, KDE System Settings → Users shows fingerprint enrollment/management, the lock screen shows "scan your fingerprint", and sudo works with a finger touch.

For suspend/resume, add a resume service per issue #254.
