Description

The Falcon scan of the Indigo service image reports 14 CIS SetUIDBitFoundInImage detections, one for each setuid or setgid binary from the base packages. Remove the setuid and setgid bits from every file in the image after the last package step.

What did I (author) test?

  • Supervisor starts celery, gunicorn, and redis with user=root, so no program needs a setuid helper such as su. The k8s manifests for Indigo set no command override.
  • The server base and nginx images use the same find / -xdev -type f -perm /6000 -exec chmod a-s {} + step.

Testing recommendations and risks (for reviewers)

  • The build_test_publish_indigo_service_old CI job builds this image and runs the Imago and Indigo API tests.
  • Risk: a later step that needs su or another setuid binary fails. The image has no such step.

E2E gate declaration:

  • option: uncleared-gap
  • This pod has no Docker runtime, so I could not build or run the image here. The Indigo CI job builds the image and runs both API tests.

The Falcon scan reports each setuid or setgid binary in the image as a
CIS SetUIDBitFoundInImage detection. Supervisor starts every service
program as root, and no program calls a setuid helper.
