What: Explicit web_read opt-in reads one page through a selected existing Chromeria profile tab on its owner environment.
Why: Public research needs a session path that preserves the existing browser controller, account permissions and private output.
So what: The parent dispatches fresh Opus high round 2 and admits current CI on this component; both TinyFish decisions still gate final main.

References #446 and approved Spec #423, including D2 decisions6251363643/6251386404. Parent-retargeted to integration/423-web-research, exact base d5b71636ea6e5f02310632d6abbd2e0d30472a81 (tree identical to predecessor 3393). No closing linkage or version change.

useSession:true with session:{environmentId,profileId,tabId} reuses an existing authorized tab. A fixed browser-owner operation navigates/extracts under SessionControl; no new profile, login or caller scripts/actions. Default-off public reads never invoke the profile/controller path. Session snapshots use separate bounded memory (five minutes,16 entries,16MiB), opaque IDs and caller/provider-session/profile/tab-generation checks, never PageCache or disk.

Remote reads route directly to the profile owner through authenticated PeerForwarding, even when the public research host is bestia. A live same-link session.contextThreadId with preview capability is required. Unrelated threads, missing capabilities, read-only links and second-hop forwarding remain denied. Human control, missing/expired sessions,429/checkpoint/warnings and controller failures return typed errors. No enforced session pacing, quota or dwell delay; shared instructions carry varied dwell/scroll and stop-on-warning guidance.

Round 1's latest verdict was FAIL at 4316 for one delivery metadata omission; the complete runtime review found no required runtime/session/ownership change. The repair only appends the three missing paths to scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt and promotes their existing agent-web-research entries to primary ownership, required by the registry's actual check. Exactly two metadata files, 9 insertions/4 deletions. All 28,661 other tracked entries are identical to 4316.

RED is actual Fork CI39194023904 at 4316, with exactly those three missing-path failures and exit 1. GREEN is the actual full gate on repaired 967 and again on final ad38:

bash scripts/fork-check.sh --base d0918f1659f4c19172796c8d1910ca6e4bc18b51

Final-head exit 0:143 merge-free commits, all upstream edits allowlisted, 47 feature owners valid, fork-check: OK. Full 1,002-line output is retained at /home/luke/.cache/chromeria446-proof/integration-fork-check.log, SHA256 19634e0d4c8ab474593f998f362fe176053bdffb82ee4319f850fc0c93c23d20. Metadata format and diff checks pass. The prior registry-only model check did not cover the carried-edit omission.

At the parent's explicit instruction, preserved 4316/967 proof refs and replayed only the three own #446 commits after 3393 onto integration d5. No conflicts; all three patches are equal in range-diff. The entire repaired tree before/after is identical: 2d5ceb086bec125385ab1209a21aef68850ca695. Refreshed and pushed this branch with the exact observed967 lease. The author did not retarget, merge or write integration/main.

Reused exact-byte proof: 120 affected tests passed / one inherited browser skip; final owner/session 48/48; post421->3393 cascade 52/52; map 3/3; server/contracts/provider-core types, TS lint and scoped exports. All 47 old evidence hashes still match. No behavioral suites, typechecks or broad checks rerun for this metadata repair/equal-tree cascade. These are affected observations, not complete CI admission. Fresh final-head Fork 39196592557 and whole CI are pending; fresh independent Opus high round 2 belongs to the parent, and no old PASS transfers.

Optional O1 timeline/navigation-helper visibility, O2 live DOM readiness, O3 conservative URL-exact continuation and O4 public forwarding of metadata IDs remain recorded on #446 for #447's future observed use; no extra runtime change here. Forwarded cancellation, mixed-version diagnostics and the inherited real-browser skip remain unverified. No live account/browser/provider/host/app actions or deployment/activation. #447 owns live fleet/adoption; #486/#460 remain separate. Both TinyFish networking and any hosted-body-retention decisions remain pending, without a waiver or whole #423 acceptance. Website impact: none, server/MCP capability and guidance; repair is fork metadata only.

Requirements and who asked: Approved #423 D2/#446 require explicit existing-session reads with owner permissions/private output/no pacing; parent accepted R1 and authorized the minimal carried-edit fix and own-commit cascade onto integration d5.
Deleted: Optional runtime changes, gate weakening, duplicate behavior/type suites, merge commits, copied predecessor patches, extra workers/review dispatch and unauthorized live proof.
Bottleneck: Fresh parent-owned exact-head Opus high round 2 and current full CI/Fork; both TinyFish user decisions still gate final main.
Checked myself: Both full Opus records, actual failed4316 CI, full fork guide/check, primary-owner convention, two-file metadata diff, retained log/source hashes, final actual full gate, three equal patches, whole-tree equality, refreshed exact lease and final clean remote/PR/base state.

Canonical source/repair/cascade handoff: #446 (comment) . Final head ad38c77c3cf18749e83de0425ac0da20be40d397, base d5b71636ea6e5f02310632d6abbd2e0d30472a81, tree 2d5ceb086bec125385ab1209a21aef68850ca695. What: #446 is published as PR #513 at4316 and is under fresh Opus5.5/high review; actual Fork CI found three missing upstream carry-list entries.
Why: The component reuses existing browser/controller contracts, but local fork-model47 validates feature ownership rather than the separate upstream-edit allowlist enforced by CI.
So what: Keep4316 frozen for the full current review, then the same #446 writer fixes the carry-list and any supported source findings together; #447 preparation is read-only while current gates remain pending.

PR #513 is linked to this coordinator. Exact head4316f05779f6c28497f2425dc75d234b65e1e8e7, tree265cb40e1638b19f75b29bb879a9bf272ec7481d, predecessor3393e881540676888c61a4db86b7ba76178f7bc1. Canonical #446 (comment) . Parent verified clean local/remote/head/base/tree, manifestSHA382e2c4b7bc2667d006635a12ec22978bc5b6726bebda9843a8d5918738ed4cc, all47 evidence hashes and15 source hashes, actual52/3 cascade and48/2 owner-session output. Author's120/6 includes one inherited browser skip; overlapping counts are not additive or completeCI. No live account/browser proof. New independent task chromeria423-pr513-opus-high-r1-4316f05779 has explicit Claude Opus5.5/high target and pending authenticated status on4316, complete ownership/capability/session/private-cache/read-only/no-pacing acceptance and limits supplied.

Fork failure https://github.com/toolboxmd/chromeria/actions/runs/39194023904 : modified upstream files missing from scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt are apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.test.ts, apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts, packages/contracts/src/previewAutomation.ts. docs/fork-features.md already assigns their ownership. Parent inspected exact script rule and log; no flake or unchanged retry claimed. Reviewer received the confirmed required finding while source stays frozen, to combine it with runtime review. Retained exact log /home/luke/.cache/chromeria446-proof/ci-fork-39194023904.log. Current full CI39194023865 is queued. Agent Observer publish for PR513 returned exit2, exact message nothing to publish: no sessions in scope; measurement gap remains, not zero cost or reason to block source repair.

#447 has a separate bounded read-only execution-preflight task, chromeria423-447-preflight-r1-4316f05779. It must inspect supported exact-source/two-environment/four-harness execution mechanics and authority, preserve frozen20URL/25query inputs and all failures, and distinguish real production-path proof from fixtures. No source PR is fabricated and no live calls/apps/browsers/credentials/host mutation are authorized by this preparation. Its native source dependencies remain intact. This is one Codex research task; implementation writers are idle while review runs. Parent owns all source acceptance, topology and actual final proof.

Both TinyFish human questions remain unanswered. #505 sourcePASS3393 still awaits currentCI before integration; #513 still needs repair/review/CI. No final main merge, #423 acceptance, build/sign/stage/install/restart/activation. #486 preactivation retention and #460 identity remain separate.

Requirements and who asked: User requires each component's exact-head independent review and complete CI, plus actual #447 live/adoption proof without false synthetic acceptance.
Deleted: Treating local ownership model as full Fork CI, unchanged retries for a concrete missing entry, competing source writers, manufactured verification code/PRs and premature live execution.
Bottleneck: Full #513 review batches known metadata repair with any actual runtime finding; CI and read-only acceptance preparation continue independently.
Checked myself: Exact PR/source identity, actual proof output and62 evidence/source hashes, complete Fork failure and rule, source ownership registry, review dispatch and precise Agent Observer failure; #447 full body/comments and native source blockers retained.

What: Independent source review of PR #513 (#446) at exact head 4316f05779f6c28497f2425dc75d234b65e1e8e7: PASS, no required source fix. Four optional improvements are listed below.
Why: Session reads are default-off, reach only the existing ServerBrowser/SessionControl tab controller through one fixed readPage operation, keep account text out of PageCache and the public research host, and refuse second-hop, unrelated-thread and read-only-link routes.
So what: The parent owns complete CI, admission and both pending TinyFish user decisions. This PASS covers #446 source only, not whole #423 acceptance, Live Verification or final main.

Reviewer: Claude Code, Opus 5.5, HIGH effort, read-only; independent of the author (Codex GPT-6.1-Sol). Round 1, no prior #513 review.

Required

None.

Optional

  1. readPage skips the existing recordAction and navigate helpers (apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts:1881). Every other mutating operation, such as navigate at :1908, logs to tab.actionTimeline. A session read navigates the user's logged-in tab with no timeline entry, so a human watching the panel sees the page change but no agent action. Raw goto also skips the helper's handling of download URLs and ERR_* errors: a download URL saves a file and returns the generic read failure. Wrapping the goto in recordAction(tab, "navigate", …) closes the visibility gap with no new machinery.
  2. Extraction runs right after domcontentloaded (ServerBrowser.ts:1880). Account pages that render client-side (the Instagram/Facebook pattern behind D2) may serialize only a shell and come back thin with empty text. Whether this happens is unverified without a live browser. test(research): prove 20 URLs and per-harness research-tool usage #447 live proof should check it. Waiting for load within the existing 15 s bound would be a readiness wait, not pacing.
  3. Continuation needs status.url === cached.page.finalUrl (SessionRead.ts:239). A pushState after the read revokes the private snapshot. It fails safe with session_unavailable/continuation, but it may surprise callers on pages that rewrite their URL. Generation alone already covers human-takeover revocation.
  4. The public path forwards the session selection to the public research host when useSession is absent or false (ResearchHost.ts:243, forwarding.call(…, input, …)). These are environment/profile/tab IDs only, never account content, and bestia treats the call as public. Stripping useSession and session before that call keeps the public host free of session metadata.

Cleared, with evidence

  • Default-off: with useSession absent or false, SessionRead is never reached and a session: cacheId is refused before the host lookup. The test asserts zero browser requests and that PageCache holds only public text.
  • Fixed operation, no actions: only SessionRead.ts:181 invokes readPage. Its input schema is {profileId,url}, with no script, selector or form fields. readPage is outside READ_OPERATIONS, so it runs under control.agent: a human controller, or a tab another agent owns, is refused before goto. An unclaimed tab with an explicit tabId follows the existing preview_navigate rule. Existing preview_evaluate holders already have more power, so the feature adds no new privilege beyond the preview capability.
  • Human takeover and generation: checked in status before the read, by agentCanActNow after goto and after content(), and by a generation compare. The real ServerBrowser test with a fake Playwright boundary covers human control before the read and takeover during extraction.
  • Profile/tab substitution: checked three times. Status requires the profile to exist and not be incognito, and the tab's profile to match. The owner rejects a non-explicit tab, an isolated context, a profile mismatch or incognito. The result's tabId/profileId must match. Tabs are thread-scoped (tabKey(threadId, tabId)).
  • Cross-environment routing: the session branch runs before webResearch.host, so account text never goes through the public host. Locally, a linked caller with no thread fails requireThreadMcpCapability("preview"). Remotely, the caller needs a direct agent-access link, expectedLinkIdentity and contextThreadId. withContext enforces shell.linkOrigin.sessionId === client.sessionId and binds capabilities as the intersection of the credential's and the caller's. A destination linked scope that asks for another environment gets forwarding. The source validates the response's sourceRung, session tuple, session: cacheId and empty subpages.
  • Error leaks: MCP failures carry only fixed SessionReadError messages. The local trace file records the cause through Cause.pretty, which renders nested .cause. I ran an isolated check against the executed Effect 4.0.5: SchemaError renders as Expected a value with a length of at most 10 at ["finalUrl"], without the value, so decode failures do not write HTML or URLs to the trace.
  • Bounds: HTML is capped at 4 MiB in bytes at the owner, before the 4 Mi-character schema check. Text is at most 20k per response. The retained map is capped at 16 entries and 16 MiB with a 5-minute lifetime. The owner key binds environment, requestNamespace, client session, thread, provider session, profile and tab, and IDs are 256-bit random. The 20 s overall timeoutOrElse interrupts without the broker's host disconnect, and the message says navigation may have started.
  • No pacing: no limiter, quota or dwell appears on the session path, and the test asserts delayMs:0 at a fixed TestClock instant. The prompt and tool text tell agents to vary dwell, stop on warnings and avoid account actions. 429, challenge and /checkpoint map to session_warning, and login maps to session_expired.
  • Contract consumers: neither PreviewAutomationOperation nor the new OrchestratorMcpFailure codes are used in web, desktop, mobile or client-runtime. Only ServerBrowser connects as a broker host. If an older peer destination ignores useSession, the source rejects its public result as response.
  • Wiring: SessionRead.layer takes the shared broker and threads from outer context, and the integration fixture mirrors the production layerWebResearch provision.
  • No regressions: the diff touches no feat(research): web_search over live SearXNG and TinyFish #445 SearXNG locale or feat(research): add zero-charge TinyFish fallback with OpenBao secret #444 files.

What: Updated round-1 verdict for PR #513 at exact head 4316f05779f6c28497f2425dc75d234b65e1e8e7: FAIL, 1 required delivery fix. Runtime, session and ownership source still has no required fix.
Why: Three pre-existing upstream files changed without entries in scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt, so the Fork Stack Model check correctly fails on this candidate.
So what: The author adds the three allowlist entries, which changes the candidate. That new head needs fresh exact-head review and CI. The 4 optional items and all limits in the earlier findings still apply.

Reviewer: Claude Code, Opus 5.5, HIGH effort, read-only. Head/tree 4316f05779f6c28497f2425dc75d234b65e1e8e7/265cb40e1638b19f75b29bb879a9bf272ec7481d, base 3393e881540676888c61a4db86b7ba76178f7bc1/9b13d93acf860f7a9f50b594f61201c4a185d2b5, unchanged. This replaces my earlier PASS: I missed the fork carried-edit rule in docs/fork.md.

Required

R1. Carried upstream edits are not allowlisted (delivery, current candidate).

  • Trigger: Fork run 39194023904, headSha 4316, conclusion failure. Retained log lines 511, 512 and 922 read fork-check: FAIL: upstream file modified but not allowlisted: for apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.test.ts, apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts and packages/contracts/src/previewAutomation.ts. Line 1008 is exit 1. Those are the only FAIL lines in the log, so it is not a flake.
  • Rule: scripts/fork-check.sh:60-79 requires every changed path that exists in the base to match a line in scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt exactly. None of the three appears there at 4316, and the diff 3393..4316 never touches that file. docs/fork-features.md already lists all three under agent-web-research, so ownership is assigned. The local fork-features.mjs check (47 features) is a different check and does not cover this rule.
  • Why allowlisting, not moving code: the change has to stay in these files. readPage is a case in ServerBrowser's existing executeTabOperation switch on the shared controller. The operation literal belongs in the existing PREVIEW_AUTOMATION_SERVER_OPERATIONS contract. Moving either into a new file would add an indirection the source review doesn't need.
  • Minimal fix: append one section to scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt, in the existing style (compare the #442 ServerBrowserContexts.ts entry):
    # Session research reads reuse the existing browser controller (#446)
    apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.test.ts
    apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts
    packages/contracts/src/previewAutomation.ts

Add the allowlist file to the agent-web-research carried-file list in docs/fork-features.md only if that registry's convention or fork-features.mjs check requires it. Prove the fix with scripts/fork-check.sh against the exact base, plus a fresh Fork CI run. Do not weaken the gate or retry the run.

Rest of the runtime review (no new required findings)

  • Rechecked broker routing. status and readPage share one assignment key, an assigned host without readPage returns NoAvailableHost, and in this tree only ServerBrowser connects as a host.
  • Rechecked the explicit-tab requirement. agentSessionId is guaranteed by requireTab. The tab is reached only through tabKey(threadId, tabId).
  • A status or session read sets the agent session's current tab, just as preview_status with a tabId already does. This is not a new path.
  • Other checks in run 39194023865 that had finished when I looked passed: Test Server 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8, plus Native fingerprint. Build, Lint, Test, Test Server 6, Test Web and Release Smoke were still pending. That is an observation, not CI admission.
  • Optional item 1, the action-timeline record, would also touch ServerBrowser.ts, which R1 already covers.

Elon record

  • Requirements and who asked: the parent reported a verified Fork CI failure on 4316 and asked for it to be adjudicated as a required current-candidate finding, alongside the complete runtime/session/ownership review.
  • Deleted: moving code into new files to avoid the allowlist, speculative CI retries, and weakening the gate.
  • Bottleneck: a mechanical allowlist omission blocks the Fork check. The runtime source needs no fix.
  • Checked myself: the run's headSha and conclusion, every FAIL line in the retained log, the exact fork-check.sh rule, the allowlist at 4316 (none of the three paths, not touched by the diff), the existing #442 section format, the fork-features ownership, and live PR checks.

What: #513 round1's current verdict is FAIL for one accepted carry-list omission; runtime/session/ownership code has no required fix, and the existing writer has resumed the minimal metadata correction.
Why: The Fork gate compares carried upstream edits, which the separate local feature-owner model did not cover; three existing controller/contract paths were omitted.
So what: Add only the required entries, run the real gate against the exact CI upstream base, preserve all runtime bytes/proof, then obtain fresh exact-head Opus review and CI. No source acceptance or final-main permission is inferred.

Current superseding review #513 (comment) replaces initial runtime-only PASS6259095931. Parent read both full records and independently verified the three failure lines, actual gate and registry. Required R1: scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt needs exact paths apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.test.ts, apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts and packages/contracts/src/previewAutomation.ts, under the existing #446 style. docs/fork-features.md already assigns their ownership. Current4316 remains independently FAILED until the new candidate is reviewed; no exemption or unchanged retry.

Existing writer's packet requires full docs/fork.md and fork-check.sh, the actual bash scripts/fork-check.sh --base d0918f1659f4c19172796c8d1910ca6e4bc18b51 using this failed CI's upstream merge-base, final textformat/diff/model checks and normal commit/push. It must verify runtime/source blob equality and reuse valid behavior/types instead of redundant suites for a carry-list-only diff. Fresh whole Fork/current CI remains required. Only the existing branch/workspace is mutable; parent owns topology/retarget/merges. Reviewer has stopped with no pending children; source writer is sole active implementation owner, no competing review.

Optional findings adjudicated, retained rather than silently fixed or dropped:

  • O1: readPage does not record an existing browser action-timeline entry and bypasses generic navigate/download error handling. Concrete optional visibility/error-quality limit on feat(research): opt-in logged-in web_read without enforced pacing #446, not a new required source change; preserve for actual authorized test(research): prove 20 URLs and per-harness research-tool usage #447 account use.
  • O2: domcontentloaded may produce only a client-rendered shell. Live-unverified readiness limit for test(research): prove 20 URLs and per-harness research-tool usage #447; no unmeasured timer/load policy added.
  • O3: exact current URL check revokes continuation after pushState. Conservative fail-closed behavior retained; no revocation weakening.
  • O4: a false/absent useSession may forward supplied environment/profile/tab metadata to the public host, but no account HTML/controller access. Optional metadata-minimization improvement retained, no extra runtime scope in this correction.
Forwarded cancellation, mixed controllers/peer diagnostics, inherited real-render skip and actual account behavior stay unverified. Earlier synthetic output is not live proof.

Coordinator correction: My unexecuted note in #423 (comment) about preserving ancestry on the next component merge was wrong for this repository. docs/fork.md requires a merge-free topic stack, and fork-check.sh rejects merge commits. All actual #423 component merges so far were squash; retain squash/rebase delivery and explicitly cascade/revalidate descendants. No merge commit, rule weakening or repository setting change occurred. The policy already exists and is mechanically enforced, so duplicating a global instruction is not a repair; this record and the actual topology choice are corrected. Source writer received that correction.

Both user TinyFish decisions remain PENDING; no final main merge, live account/browser/provider calls, new credentials, build/sign/stage/install/restart/activation. #447 retains live acceptance and native blockers; #486/#460 remain separate. No version bump.

Requirements and who asked: Independent Opus high review and actual Fork CI require the3 carried-edit entries; existing fork policy requires merge-free topic commits; user requires fresh review/CI and sole-writer components.
Deleted: Treating local model47 as full Fork coverage, speculative runtime cleanup, source-test repeats for metadata-only repair, the unexecuted merge-commit plan and duplicated policy prose.
Bottleneck: One mechanical source-candidate correction, then exact-head review/currentCI; final acceptance still waits on user decisions and actual447 proof.
Checked myself: Full initial/superseding reviews, actualCI FAIL lines and exact upstream base, complete fork maintenance document/script, existing ownership, sole-writer resume and unchanged current head/base. No required runtime fix was found or invented.

What: Round-2 independent review of PR #513 (#446) at exact head ad38c77c3cf18749e83de0425ac0da20be40d397: PASS, no required fix. Round-1 R1 is fixed; four optional items still apply.
Why: The repair adds the three carried upstream edits to the allowlist and makes agent-web-research their one primary owner. The actual Fork Stack Model gate fails on 4316 and passes on ad38. Runtime bytes and the base tree are identical to what round 1 reviewed.
So what: The parent owns the complete current CI (Build, Test, Test Server 1-8, Test Web and Release Smoke are still pending), admission, and both pending TinyFish user decisions. This PASS covers #446 source and metadata only. It is not #423 acceptance, Live Verification or final main.

Reviewer: Claude Code in T3 Code, Claude Opus 5.5, HIGH effort, read-only. I did not author this work (author: Codex GPT-6.1-Sol). Supersedes my round-1 verdicts 6259095931 and 6259123709 for this head only. I created no worktree and made no writes.

Required

None.

Cleared, with evidence

  • R1 (carried upstream edits not allowlisted) is fixed on the gate that failed. Fork run 39196592557 has headSha ad38, event pull_request and conclusion success. Its log has zero FAIL lines. It reports modified (allowlisted) for ServerBrowser.test.ts, ServerBrowser.ts and previewAutomation.ts, then fork-features: OK (47 features). and fork-check: OK. with base d0918 and 143 commits. RED run 39194023904 on 4316 has exactly those three not allowlisted FAIL lines. The author's local full-gate log on ad38 matches CI.
  • The fork-features.md move is required, not scope creep. scripts/fork-features.mjs:67-72 requires each allowlisted path to appear in exactly one feature's upstreamFiles. sharedFiles does not count. At 4316 all three paths appeared only in agent-web-research.sharedFiles, so allowlisting alone would fail with found 0. This corrects my round-1 statement that ownership was already assigned: they were listed as shared, not as primary owner. No other feature lists any of the three in any field. report merges newFiles, upstreamFiles and sharedFiles, so moving them loses no overlap watching.
  • The diff is minimal. git diff 4316..ad38 changes only docs/fork-features.md and scripts/fork-upstream-edits.txt, with 9 insertions and 4 deletions. The allowlist section copies the existing feat(research): render thin pages with Chromeria headless browser #442 style. Nothing changes in the gate implementation, runtime, tests, contracts, dependencies, versions, map or user guide. There is no waiver and no generated-scope exemption.
  • The cascade changed no runtime. 3393^{tree} == d5^{tree} (empty diff). git range-diff 4316~2...4316 d5..dfb34df5df shows = for both earlier commits, and dfb34df5df^{tree} == 4316^{tree}. The three d0918 to d5 paths were byte-identical to upstream before this PR, so feat(research): opt-in logged-in web_read without enforced pacing #446 is their first carried edit and agent-web-research is the right primary owner. The PR has no merge commits, the stack is merge-free, and all component merges stay squash.
  • The round-1 runtime review still holds for identical inputs. I re-inspected the routing order: the session branch in ResearchHost.ts:132 runs before the webResearch.host lookups at :213 and :283. SessionRead.ts has no PageCache reference. readPage exists only in the ServerBrowser.ts:1866 owner case and in tests. Every round-1 clearance applies unchanged: default-off, fixed operation, takeover and generation checks, profile/tab binding, the direct-link and contextThreadId fence, bounds, no pacing, and error transport.

Optional, retained, not part of this repair

  • O1: readPage skips recordAction and the navigate helper, so the action timeline gets no entry and download and ERR_* handling are bypassed (apps/server/src/preview/ServerBrowser.ts, readPage case).
  • O2: Extraction readiness after domcontentloaded on client-rendered account pages has not been checked live. Do not add an unmeasured wait.
  • O3: URL-exact continuation fails closed after pushState (SessionRead.ts). Conservative, acceptable.
  • O4: When useSession is false or absent, the call can forward selection IDs (environment, profile, tab) to the public host (ResearchHost.ts public path). It never forwards account HTML. Minimizing this is optional.

Unverified (not passed)

Elon record

  • Requirements and who asked: The parent asked for a fresh independent round-2 review of exact ad38 against approved feat(research): web_read tool with a shared cache and free-first fetch ladder #423 D2 and feat(research): opt-in logged-in web_read without enforced pacing #446, covering the R1 repair, the d5 cascade and regressions. The user chose Opus 5.5 HIGH and required independence.
  • Deleted: A review worktree and a local gate rerun (the actual CI gate on exact ad38 is the stronger proof), behavioral suite reruns on byte-identical runtime, and speculative runtime cleanup.
  • Bottleneck: Whether the actual Fork gate passes on the exact head with a minimal, correct registry ownership, rather than the narrower registry-only check.
  • Checked myself: Live PR, head, base and tree identities. The complete fork-check.sh, fork-features.mjs and docs/fork.md. The 2-file repair diff. Whole-tree equality for 4316 to ad38 and 3393 to d5, and the range-diff. That no other feature owns the three paths. The RED and GREEN CI logs. The manifest and gate-log hashes. The live check list and statuses.

* fix(research): classify a JavaScript-only instruction shell as thin (#535)

* fix(research): classify a JavaScript-only instruction shell as thin

Navigation and headings pushed the public enable-JavaScript page past 80 characters, so web_read reported it ok and never rendered. The existing thin status now covers that instruction when it is the whole remainder.

* docs(map): point agent web research at the JavaScript-shell fix

PR #535 does not close #423, so the open corrective PR is a secondary map ref.

* fix(research): judge a JavaScript shell from its lines

Compacted text let a heading pattern swallow the hours and price paragraphs, and the same pattern threw on a 4 MiB plain-text heading run. The shell check now accepts only short pages whose lines are headings, links, or one instruction.

* docs: link final research train PR in feature map

* fix(research): reconcile shared browser feature ownership

* test(server): give the RemoteDelegation box mock readRunRecovery

#556 added ThreadManagementService.readRunRecovery to every thread read,
but this file's box Layer.mock lacked it. The unimplemented method died on
each read there, the laptop follower retried it as transient, and each
remote-follow test waited out the 120 s test timeout, hanging the Test
Server shard that runs the file.

Fixes #562
