Generic classes now infer nullable method-source rows consistently in generated and reflection discovery. Constructor-supplied class types take precedence even when the method parameter nests a class parameter inside a nullable constructed struct, such as KeyValuePair<T, int>?[]: [Arguments(1d)] registers only the double class.

Preserves scoped multiple sources, nullable scalar/factory/tuple/array rows, explicit class types, partial constructor rows and constraint-valid row-value fallback. Unresolved, generic, argument-taking and external generic sources do not supply inferred class types. Reuses only the discovery changes and fixtures from #7591 at 36c8723; analyzer changes stay in #7610 / #7613. TUnit0001 is suppressed only within the shared regression fixture pending that sibling. #7597 overlaps these discovery files and should rebase its adapters onto this change; policy consolidation remains #7377.

Closes #7611

Validation (SDK 10.0.403, macOS arm64):

Latest review fix: reflection class inference now rejects scalar method-source rows when a trailing data parameter is required, matching generated discovery. Six cross-mode regression cases cover required/optional parameters, CancellationToken, scalar factories and tuple rows. The regression failed in the three incomplete-scalar cases before the fix.

Latest validation (SDK 10.0.403, macOS arm64): full net10 core generator suite passed (346 passed, one skipped), including all six new parity cases. All 39 targeted _7573 cases passed in generated mode and all 39 passed in reflection mode. Native AOT Release publishing succeeded and the native executable passed all 39 targeted cases. No generator snapshots or public APIs changed. Engine integration tests and Windows/net472 remain CI-only.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved generic test-class type inference from method data rows, including nullable values, arrays, nested types, and partial constructor data.
    • Preserved valid constructor-supplied type information when combining data sources and handled constraint violations during test discovery more accurately.
    • Kept nullable method rows from creating extra inferred class instances when constructor data already provides complete type information.
  • Tests
    • Added regression coverage for generic type inference, data-source combinations, constructor fallbacks, and invalid generic constraints.

Walkthrough

Generic class inference now uses eligible method-source row types in source generation and reflection discovery. The changes handle nullable and nested types, partial constructor rows, constructor-value fallback, and source scoping. New tests cover inference cases, source retention, and generic constraint violations.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #7611 is the only active directly linked target. Its coding requirements are: (1) reflection and generated discovery must agree for nullable generic class method sources; (2) a class type nested in a nullable constructed struct, such as KeyValuePair<T, int>?[], must not add a class instantiation beside a constructor-supplied class; (3) the original 35 nullable-discovery cases must still pass; (4) unresolved, generic, argument-taking, and external generic sources must stay excluded; (5) targeted runs in both modes, generator snapshot coverage, and Native AOT validation must be reported; (6) TUnit0001 must not be suppressed globally. The reported changes in TestMetadataGenerator.cs and ReflectionTestDataCollector.cs recurse through nullable value types and array types to find class type parameters. Complete constructor data takes precedence over nullable method rows. The _7573 fixtures add the constructed-nullable constructor case and the scalar, factory, tuple, array, and multiple-source cases. The latest review fix adds NullableClassMethodSourceParityTests.cs, which compares generated and reflection inference for required and optional trailing parameters, CancellationToken, scalar factories, and tuple rows. The reported runs cover both modes, the full net10.0 core generator suite, and Native AOT execution. Limitation: the incremental diff for the latest fix was unavailable, so the reflection change for that fix was assessed from the parity test definition and the reported validation, not from the reviewed code hunk. Engine and Windows/net472 checks remain CI-only as the issue permits.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changed files connect to #7611. TestMetadataGenerator.cs and ReflectionTestDataCollector.cs implement the discovery parity and precedence requirements. The _7573 fixture, NullableClassMethodRowsTests.cs, and the verified snapshot test the required cases. NullableClassMethodSourceParityTests.cs tests the parity behavior for the latest review fix. The _7107 fixture and verified snapshot add partial-constructor and constraint-invalid fallback coverage, which the issue lists in its preservation criteria. No analyzer implementation, global TUnit0001 suppression, policy consolidation, or unrelated product change is evident in the summarized scope. The reviewed diff for the latest fix could not be read, so this verdict relies on the summary and the reported file list.

Review of #7614

I read the diff. I did not run the build or tests.

What it does: Generator and reflection discovery now infer generic-class type arguments from nullable method-source rows, and the two modes follow the same rules. The change covers constructor-type precedence, partial constructor rows with the value-type fallback, and declared-only static non-generic source lookup. The new parity code matches what the PR describes, and the PR reports passing results for both modes and for Native AOT.

Design concerns (not blocking):

  1. The same policy is written twice. ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(includePartialRows), ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback and ContainsTypeParameter exist once in the generator, over symbols, and again in the engine, over Type. The comments say they mirror each other, but nothing enforces it. The PR already points to Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377 for consolidating this. Until then, a shared table-driven fixture that runs each case in both modes would catch drift, and the existing _7573 fixture is a good start.
  2. TestMetadataGenerator.cs keeps growing. The new scopesClassMethodSources flag, the uninferredMethodDataSources bookkeeping and the nested predicates make CollectConcreteInstantiations hard to follow. Pulling the 'which sources scope which class types' decision into a small named helper or record would make it easier to test and review.
  3. ClassRowHasValidValueTypeFallback uses MakeGenericType with a catch of ArgumentException. This is reflection mode, so it is acceptable. It does run during discovery for every partial row, so a constraint check without exceptions would be cheaper if it shows up in a profile.
  4. The same GetAttributesIncludingBaseTypes().Any(...) predicate is built in several places (scopesClassMethodSources, line ~1337, and the nullable-precedence check). Extract it into one helper so the three call sites cannot diverge.

Minor: Dropping the compilation?. conditional access is fine as long as compilation is never null on that path. The signature now requires it, so this should be OK.

Verdict: The change looks correct and well tested, and there are no blockers from my read. I'd like the duplication in (1) and (4) tracked in #7377.

Review of #7614

I read the generator and reflection-collector changes. I did not build the branch or run any tests.

What looks good

  • Nullable method-source inference now follows one set of rules in the source generator and in reflection discovery. That is what the AGENTS.md requirement for metadata collection asks for.
  • Removing the compilation?. conditional access avoids nullable-flow warnings.
  • The change adds new snapshot and execution fixtures. These cover constructed-nullable constructor precedence and both discovery modes.

Concerns and suggestions

  1. Duplicated policy logic. Both discovery paths now carry the same rules:

    • ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(..., includePartialRows)
    • ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback
    • ContainsTypeParameter
    • the nullable-parameter recursion

They are hand-mirrored across TestMetadataGenerator and ReflectionTestDataCollector. The PR description says policy consolidation is deferred to Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377, which is fair. Even so, GenericClassInferencePolicy is already shared. I'd move the partial-row decision there as a pure function of counts and flags. That would remove the new includePartialRows bool parameter, which makes the two code paths harder to read. A bool flag that changes semantics is a smell. Two named methods, or a policy enum, would be clearer.

  2. Per-call allocations in generator code. ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments now uses classSymbol.TypeParameters.Any(... Take(boundCount).Any(...)). ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback uses Take, Select, ToArray and All over the arguments. It runs per attribute per test method, so generator incremental performance matters. Plain loops would avoid the closure and enumerator allocations. The reflection side already uses loops, so the two sides would also match.

  3. Behaviour change in InferClassTypesFromMethodDataSource. Restricting the lookup to declared-only, non-generic methods matches reflection's DeclaredOnly. Inherited sources therefore no longer infer class types. The new comment says they still run on explicit types. Please confirm a fixture covers an inherited source on a generic base class, because that is the likeliest regression.

  4. The scopesClassMethodSources predicate. It repeats the same GetAttributesIncludingBaseTypes().Any(IsDataSourceAttribute && !(Arguments && ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments)) pattern in at least three places. Extract one helper, for example HasTypeSupplyingClassDataSource(testMethod, includePartialRows), so the copies cannot drift apart.

  5. Suppressed TUnit0001. This is acceptable as a temporary measure while the analyzer PRs Accept nullable generic class method rows in analyzer validation #7610 and Fix nullable generic class method-row analyzer validation #7613 land. Please make sure the suppression is removed there.

Overall the behaviour is reasonable and well tested. I'd like the helper extraction (items 1 and 4) and the loop rewrites (item 2) before merge, or a follow-up issue linked to #7377 if you prefer to keep this PR scoped.

Run 41930394105 passed; its earlier wait is cleared. Fixed both newly reported parity problems in 2948bb5 and returned to draft for fresh review.

Validation: full net10 core generator suite passed (340 passed, one skipped) after reviewing and accepting only the intended snapshot changes. All 38 _7573 cases passed in generated mode and all 38 passed with --reflection. PartialConstructorMethodConstraintTests emitted exactly one expected discovery failure with the same struct-constraint message in each mode; the test body did not run. No reflection path changed, and prior AOT validation remains applicable. Windows/net472 and engine integration tests remain CI-only.

Claude ready-review concerns 1/4 remain tracked by #7377 comment 6644379558; concern 2 is added at #7377 (comment). Concern 3 is covered by the new inherited source on a generic base with explicit class types; it passes in both modes. Concern 5 remains the existing #7610/#7613 analyzer scope. CodeRabbit docstring percentage is advisory, so broad documentation churn is deferred to the named-helper consolidation in #7377.

Review of #7614

I read the diff only. I did not build it or run the tests, so I haven't checked the validation numbers in the description.

What looks good

  • The change keeps the generator (TestMetadataGenerator) and the reflection collector (ReflectionTestDataCollector) in step. That is what AGENTS.md requires for metadata collection.
  • Constructor-supplied class types take precedence over inference from method sources, and that rule is applied the same way in both modes.
  • The reflection side lookup is DeclaredOnly, and the generator side now filters on declared, non-generic, parameterless members. Those match.
  • ProcessTypeForGenerics now recurses through nullable constructed structs (KeyValuePair<T,int>?), and the same case is covered by a regression fixture.
  • Inferred types containing an unresolved type parameter are now rejected (ContainsTypeParameter).
  • The reflection helper keeps the UnconditionalSuppressMessage justification.

Concerns

  1. The same rules are written twice. ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(includePartialRows), ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback vs ClassRowHasValidValueTypeFallback, and ContainsTypeParameter (symbols vs Type) are separate copies of one policy. The description already says consolidation is tracked in Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377. Until then, any change to a copy has to be made in the other too, and the two can drift apart quietly. I would add a parity test that runs the same fixtures through both modes, and I'd put a comment on each copy pointing to its counterpart.
  2. The new predicate is hard to read. scopesClassMethodSources is built from a long inline lambda that is also repeated nearly verbatim in the nullable-precedence check (~line 7860). I'd extract one named helper, for example ConstructorRowsSupplyAllClassTypes(testClass, compilation), and call it from all three sites. That keeps the "complete vs partial constructor rows" rule in one place.
  3. ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback is a new loose end. It uses value.Type of the first N values and then runs constraint validation, which allocates through Take/Select/ToArray at generation time. That is probably fine for a generator. The reflection counterpart uses MakeGenericType plus a catch of ArgumentException, so both sides need the same edge cases covered: boxed values, null, and constraint violations.
  4. The removal of compilation?. in MapGenericTypeArguments depends on every caller passing a non-null compilation. I did not check that all call sites do. If any caller can pass null, this becomes a NullReferenceException in the generator.
  5. Parameter binding is stricter in one place now. testMethodParams.Length == 1 became "first parameter plus only optional ones". That seems right, but the case with a trailing CancellationToken or params parameter should be pinned by a test.

None of these blocks the PR. I'd like to see (1) and (2) addressed or acknowledged before merge, mainly to make the later consolidation in #7377 easier.

The earlier blocker, run 41930394105, completed successfully. Current head 2948bb5 has positive Claude and Codex verdicts, no blocking findings, and resolved review threads. The PR still delivers #7611 (Closes is present); it is not superseded and has no prerequisite requiring another unit.

Acknowledging the latest Claude nonblocking suggestions: concerns 1 and 2 remain covered by #7377 comment 6644379558 (shared policy/parity coverage and named predicate extraction); concern 3 by comment 6646614707 (allocation measurement and loop cleanup), with existing cross-mode fallback/constraint fixtures retained. Concern 4 is covered by the required compilation signature and the reported full generator suite. Concern 5 is optional additional edge-case coverage for the consolidation; the fixed optional-scalar regression already passes in both modes. These do not require another head before promotion.

Promoting this reviewed head to ready. The ready-for-review Claude run must complete and its verdict must be read before Enable-AutoMerge.ps1 is used; CI starts on promotion. No on-hold label is needed for this automatic wait.

Review of #7614

I read the generator and reflection discovery changes and did not run the tests. I found no blocking correctness bugs.

What looks good

  • Constructor-supplied class types now take precedence over nullable method-source rows. That includes nested shapes such as KeyValuePair<T,int>?[], and ProcessTypeForGenerics handles them correctly.
  • InferClassTypesFromMethodDataSource no longer infers from generic, argument-taking or generic-method sources. It also skips inherited sources, which matches reflection's DeclaredOnly lookup.
  • The generator and reflection paths use the same includePartialRows split, and the fixture runs in both modes (36 cases each).
  • Dropping the compilation?. conditional access gives the compiler a non-null argument to check.

Design concerns (non-blocking)

  1. The same predicate is duplicated. ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments with includePartialRows, the value-type fallback, and the 'any non-Arguments data source on the class' check each exist twice, in the generator and in ReflectionTestDataCollector. The GenericClassInferencePolicy helper already holds the shared policy for this. Moving the partial-row decision there (taking unmentionedTypeParameter and hasValueFallback as inputs) would let a future change touch one place. Policy consolidation is already tracked in Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377, so this can wait.
  2. The scopesClassMethodSources expression is repeated. It appears in the Any(...) block at the top of CollectConcreteInstantiations, again in the ContainsNullableClassParameter guard, and in the typeFreeClassRows computation. A single named helper such as ClassTypesComeFromConstructorRows(testClass, compilation) would stop the copies from drifting apart.
  3. Allocation in the generator. Take(...).Any(...), Select(...).ToArray() and the LINQ closures run per attribute during generation. This is not a hot path, but a short loop over classSymbol.TypeParameters would be cheaper and easier to read.
  4. TUnit0001 is suppressed only in the shared fixture, pending Accept nullable generic class method rows in analyzer validation #7610 / Fix nullable generic class method-row analyzer validation #7613. Please link that sibling PR from a comment next to the suppression so it gets removed once the analyzer change lands.

Overall this is a solid, well-tested change. Approving in spirit; the points above are follow-ups, not blockers.

Run 41949757690 completed successfully, clearing the earlier wait. Its Claude verdict has no blockers; design follow-ups 1–3 remain tracked by #7377 and the prior disposition comments. For suggestion 4, the fixture already links #7610 directly above the temporary TUnit0001 suppression.

Verified and fixed the new CodeRabbit source-retention finding in f7438d6; replied with the commit and resolved the thread. Constructor-inferred classes now retain matching optional-scalar method sources.

Validation (SDK 10.0.403, macOS arm64): the new source-retention assertion fails before the fix. Full net10 generator suite: 340 passed, one skipped; reviewed and accepted only the new fixture's snapshot entry. Targeted _7573 execution: 39 passed in generated mode and 39 passed with --reflection. Reflection implementation is unchanged; earlier AOT validation remains applicable. Windows/net472 and engine integration tests remain CI-only. Existing warnings remain tracked by #7412, #7410 and #7430.

Returned to draft for fresh Claude and Codex verdicts on this new head. The PR still closes #7611, is not superseded, and has no prerequisite requiring linked-item work. Fresh review is required before promotion and auto-merge; this pushed fix is not a deferral.

Review of #7614

I read the diff but did not run the tests. I did not look at CI status or at any earlier review comments.

The change is coherent. Generated and reflection discovery now agree on nullable method-source rows. Constructor-supplied class types take precedence, and the KeyValuePair<T,int>? case is covered. The new snapshot and the 36-case run in both modes are good evidence.

Design concerns

  1. The policy is still written twice. ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments (with includePartialRows), the value-type fallback, ContainsTypeParameter and InferClassTypesFromMethodDataSource each exist in the generator (Roslyn symbols) and in ReflectionTestDataCollector (Type). Comments saying 'mirrors X' are all that keeps them in sync. That is the drift Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377 is meant to fix, and this PR adds more of it. Please confirm _7573 compares instantiations across both modes. Longer term, move the decision (partial or complete constructor row, fallback allowed or not) into GenericClassInferencePolicy as a pure function of booleans, so only the symbol-to-boolean extraction is duplicated.

  2. The bool includePartialRows = false parameter changes what the method means. With true, 'supplies no type args' also covers 'supplies only some'. Every call site in the diff passes true, so the default looks dead. Make the parameter required, or use a separate, clearly named method.

  3. Conflict resolution may differ between modes. Reflection's MatchClassRowType keeps the last matching candidate. I haven't confirmed that the generator's ProcessTypeForGenerics resolves conflicts the same way. For (T a, T b) with row (int, string) the two modes could pick different types. Please add a conflicting-row fixture and pin the behavior.

  4. Allocations in generator code. The new branches use Take().Any(), Select().ToArray() and closures. scopesClassMethodSources and ContainsNullableClassParameter rescan GetAttributesIncludingBaseTypes() per method. The repo guidance asks for minimal allocations, so computing the class-level result once per class would help.

  5. Exceptions as control flow. ClassRowHasValidValueTypeFallback uses MakeGenericType plus a catch of ArgumentException, matching existing code. The PR reports a passing native AOT publish, so this is acceptable. A constraint pre-check would avoid the exception cost during discovery.

  6. Dense bookkeeping in CollectConcreteInstantiations. The uninferredMethodDataSources add/remove branches and the typedDataSourceBucket re-add loop are hard to follow. A comment stating the invariant would help. It looks like 'every non-Arguments source is either scoped to an inferred instantiation or run on all of them'.

Smaller points

  • Link a tracking item for the TUnit0001 fixture suppression so it gets removed.
  • Worth a release-note mention: the generator's data-method lookup now excludes generic methods and only considers members declared on the class.

No blockers from my side. Items 1 and 3 are the ones I'd most like addressed or tracked.

The earlier wait on run 41949757690 is cleared (success). Current head f7438d6 has a passing Claude review and a completed Codex verdict with no findings. All four review threads are resolved, including reviewer confirmations of the fixes.

Disposition of the latest Claude suggestions: the shared _7573 fixture executes the same assertions in both modes (39 passing cases each, as recorded with the fix). RepeatedNullableClassParameter already supplies conflicting int/long row types and asserts that the last occurrence infers long, with the snapshot pinning that instantiation. Policy extraction, required/named partial-row semantics, allocation cleanup and bookkeeping clarity remain nonblocking follow-ups under #7377 and its existing disposition comments. The fixture already links #7610 above its temporary analyzer suppression. Source lookup restrictions are described in the PR body.

This PR still delivers #7611, has Closes #7611, and is not superseded or blocked by an open prerequisite. Both reviewers approve this head; promoting it to ready starts CI and a fresh Claude review. Read that ready-review verdict before arming auto-merge. No on-hold label is appropriate for this automatic wait.

Review of #7614

I read the generator and reflection-collector diff and the earlier review comments. I did not build the branch or run tests.

Earlier feedback: The prior Claude and Codex points are already dispositioned in the thread. They are the duplicated policy (tracked in #7377), the repeated scopesClassMethodSources predicate, the LINQ allocations, and the TUnit0001 suppression, which links #7610. I found nothing new that blocks this PR.

What looks good

  • Both discovery modes follow the same rules. Constructor-supplied class types win over method-row inference, including the nested KeyValuePair<T,int>?[] case, which is handled in ProcessTypeForGenerics and ContainsNullableClassParameter.
  • InferClassTypesFromMethodDataSource is now restricted to declared, static, non-generic, argument-free sources. That matches the reflection side's DeclaredOnly lookup with generic parameter count 0.
  • Rejecting inferred types that still contain a type parameter (CodeGenerationHelpers.ContainsTypeParameter) closes a gap.
  • Dropping compilation?. is safe because the parameter is required.

Remaining suggestions (non-blocking)

  1. Boolean parameter that changes meaning. includePartialRows = false flips what ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments returns, and every new call site passes true. Since the default has no callers, make the parameter required or split the method into two named ones, such as ...IgnoringPartialRows. That way a future caller can't pick the narrower behavior by accident.
  2. Partial-row decision. Put it in GenericClassInferencePolicy as a pure function of (unmentionedTypeParameter, hasClassTypeParameter, hasValueFallback). Then only the symbol-to-boolean extraction is duplicated between the generator and the engine, which is what Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377 needs.
  3. Row-type conflict. The reflection side keeps the last matching row type. The PR notes say RepeatedNullableClassParameter pins this for (int, long). Please confirm the fixture also covers a conflict between two different parameters of the same T, since the generator's genericParamMap is last-write-wins by name.
  4. Allocations. In ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments and ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback, the Take, Select, ToArray and closure chains run per attribute. Plain loops would be cheaper and would match the reflection implementation.
  5. Exception cost in reflection. ClassRowHasValidValueTypeFallback throws and catches ArgumentException for each violating partial row during discovery. Reflection mode already works this way, so it's fine for now. If discovery time is ever profiled, cache the result per generic type definition and row.

Verdict: The change is correct as far as I can tell and well covered. The two modes are aligned, and the parity fixtures run in both. Approving in spirit. The points above can go in a follow-up under #7377.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Reject scalar method-source rows when trailing parameters are required.

For a scalar IEnumerable row, reflection class-type inference binds the row to the first data parameter. It does not check the remaining parameters. A method such as (T? value, int required) therefore infers T from the row. The generator rejects this shape and infers no class types. The two discovery modes diverge, and reflection can create an instantiation that the generated path does not create.

Apply the same scalar-row rule the generator uses: all parameters after the first must be optional. Tuple rows keep their current positional mapping.

Run 41952344669 completed successfully, clearing the earlier wait. Claude's ready-review verdict approved the previous head. Its nonblocking follow-ups remain tracked in #7377; RepeatedNullableClassParameter uses two distinct parameters of the same T (T first, T? second), and its (int, long) row pins last-occurrence inference in both modes.

Verified CodeRabbit's newer outside-diff finding from review 5778843351 and fixed it in 18aeea8. Reflection class inference now rejects scalar method-source rows when a trailing data parameter is required, matching generated discovery. Tuple rows retain their positional mapping and optional parameters remain supported. The new regression compiles the same declaration for both modes: three incomplete-scalar cases failed before the fix; all six cases now pass, covering CancellationToken and scalar factories too.

Validation (SDK 10.0.403, macOS arm64): full net10 core generator suite passed (346 passed, one skipped), including all six new parity cases. All 39 _7573 cases passed in generated mode and all 39 passed in reflection mode. Native AOT Release publish succeeded and its native executable passed all 39 cases. No snapshot or public API changes. Engine integration tests and Windows/net472 remain CI-only. Existing restore/analyzer/hook and fixture preservation warnings remain under #7412, #7410, #7430 and #7493.

Returned to draft and pushed the fix for fresh reviews. The PR still closes #7611, is not superseded, and has no open prerequisite requiring a blocker unit. This is a pushed review fix, not a deferral. Wait for positive Claude and Codex verdicts on this head before promotion; read the subsequent ready-review verdict before auto-merge.

Review of #7614

I read the diff without building or running the tests, so these comments are about the design and not about verified behavior. I found no blocking bugs.

What looks good

  • Constructor-supplied class types take precedence, and the partial-row and row-value-fallback handling in generated and reflection discovery follows the same rules. Both modes call a ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(..., includePartialRows: true) check. The reflection side points back to the generator version in a doc comment.
  • Declared-only lookup, no generic methods, no argument-taking sources and no external providers are applied the same way on both sides. This avoids picking up an unrelated same-named member.
  • Dropping the redundant compilation?. conditional accesses is a small cleanup.

Design concerns (non-blocking)

  1. Duplicated policy in two engines. The same rules now live in two places: the generator's ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments, ClassRowHasValueTypeFallback and ContainsTypeParameter, and the reflection collector's versions of them. The PR description already says policy consolidation is tracked in Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377. Please put the new rules into GenericClassInferencePolicy, or leave a clear TODO there, so they cannot drift apart. The includePartialRows boolean flag is a sign that this is turning into a policy object.
  2. Large condition in TestMetadataGenerator. The same GetAttributesIncludingBaseTypes().Any(IsDataSourceAttribute && !(ArgumentsAttribute && ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(...))) expression now appears in at least three places: scopesClassMethodSources, the existing constructor-type check, and the nullable-class-parameter check. A named helper such as HasClassRowsSupplyingAllTypes(classSymbol, compilation) would be easier to read and keep consistent.
  3. Reflection cost. ClassRowHasValidValueTypeFallback calls MakeGenericType inside a try/catch, using exceptions for control flow on a discovery path. It only runs for partial rows, so the cost is probably small. If it shows up in measurements, check the constraints directly and cache the result per generic definition.
  4. uninferredMethodDataSources bookkeeping. The add/remove logic depends on scopesClassMethodSources across several branches, which is hard to follow. A short comment or a small state type that records which sources run on which instantiation would make it clearer.

Tests
The _7573 regression fixture and snapshot cover both modes and the nullable constructed-struct case. As far as I can tell the TUnit0001 suppression is limited to that fixture. The Engine integration tests are CI-only, so please make sure CI is green before merging.

Overall this is a sound change. I'd consider the helper extraction in point 2 before merging.

The earlier blocker, run 41952344669, completed successfully. Current head 18aeea8 has positive Claude and Codex verdicts; all four review threads are resolved and their fixes confirmed. The outside-diff scalar-row finding was fixed in this head and validated by the earlier unit.

Latest Claude suggestions 1–4 remain nonblocking follow-ups under #7377 and the existing disposition comments: shared policy, named constructor predicate, measured reflection cost, and source bookkeeping clarity. No additional implementation is required for promotion. This PR still delivers #7611, includes Closes #7611, has no open prerequisite, is mergeable, and is not superseded. The finished-parent and stale-issue routes do not apply to this PR.

Promoted to ready with the head unchanged. CI and ready-for-review Claude run 41957287330 have started. Read that new review verdict and all review surfaces before using Enable-AutoMerge.ps1; do not arm against the older draft review. This automatic wait needs no on-hold label.

Review of #7614

I read the generator hunks in the PR diff and all earlier review comments. I did not read the reflection-collector or test hunks line by line, and I did not build or run tests. Treat this as a design read, not a verification.

Earlier feedback: Every earlier Claude and Codex point has a disposition in the PR conversation. The duplicated policy, the repeated predicate and the allocation concerns are tracked in #7377. The scalar-row parity bug from the last round was fixed in 18aeea8 with cross-mode regression cases. I found no new blocker.

What looks good

  • Constructor-supplied class types take precedence over method-row inference, including the nested constructed-nullable case.
  • scopesClassMethodSources makes the generator scope method-source rows to the instantiation they infer. That matches the reflection behaviour the comments describe.
  • Dropping the compilation?. conditional access is fine now that the parameter is required.

Non-blocking suggestions (same as before)

  1. Boolean parameter that changes meaning. includePartialRows = false flips what ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments returns. Every call site visible in the diff passes true, so the default has no callers. Make it required, or split into two named methods, so a future caller cannot pick the narrow behaviour by accident.
  2. The same predicate is written three times. The GetAttributesIncludingBaseTypes().Any(IsDataSourceAttribute && !(Arguments && ClassRowSuppliesNoTypeArguments(...))) expression appears in scopesClassMethodSources, in the existing constructor-type check and in the nullable-parameter guard. One named helper would keep them from drifting.
  3. Policy duplication between generator and engine. Moving the partial-row decision into GenericClassInferencePolicy as a pure function of booleans would leave only the symbol-to-boolean extraction duplicated. That is what Share class-row type inference between the source generator, analyzer and reflection #7377 needs.

Verdict: The change looks sound and the cross-mode fixtures are good evidence. The points above can follow in #7377.

The previous blocker is cleared: ready-review run 41957287330 succeeded on current head 18aeea8. Its Claude verdict reports no new blocker and explicitly allows the repeated nonblocking suggestions to follow in #7377. Codex’s current summary also reports completed review of this head with no findings.

Re-read reviews, inline threads, and conversation comments. All four threads are resolved with disposition commits; subsequent reviewer replies confirm the fixes. The outside-diff scalar-row finding is fixed in the current head. Existing policy/helper/allocation follow-ups and the advisory docstring check retain their documented dispositions under #7377. All CI is complete and the full merge gate passed (34 checks green).

Checked the resolution routes: #7611 remains open, has no native prerequisite, and this PR supplies its acceptance criteria with Closes #7611. It is not already delivered on main or superseded, and its issue scope remains current. Finished-parent and stale-issue actions do not apply. No linked blocker requires another lock. Proceeding with the repository merge wrapper; no further wait or deferral is needed.
