Source test cases from other repositories

In the tests.yaml, we currently assume that everything is inside the tutorials repository:

We still need a way to incorporate cases from other repositories (or even getting plain archives from publications or data repositories).

@valentin-seitz am I overlooking some functionality here that is already implemented?

hey @MakisH i’m currently working on this issue about sourcing test cases from other repositories. i’m looking into how we can integrate external test cases into the tests.yaml and CI structure in a maintainable way ,right now i’m exploring the test suite layout and considering how to reference external cases without interfering with the existing system tests. If you have some ideas for test case formats, or pointers to existing external sources of test data, ##please let me know ,

the approach i’m trying is to keep the current structure unchanged for local tutorials, and add an optional source block for external ones (git repos or archives). then resolve/fetch them via a small caching layer and plug them into the runner before copying into the run directory - so systemtests can treat them the same as local tutorials.
Right now I’m still exploring the test suite layout and integration points in Systemtest.py.
