ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a localized UI fix that adds a tooltip and accessible summary for existing reasoning settings while leaving menu behavior and compact labels unchanged. Focused tests cover the summary-building logic, with no defaults, schemas, infrastructure, or static-analysis configuration affected. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Note This comment is posted by Julius' dot Closing for incomplete UI verification. The attached screenshot shows the new settings tooltip, but the required before capture is missing. Please add a matching capture of the same reasoning control before this change, alongside the existing after image, then request reconsideration. |
Hovering the reasoning control gave no explanation of its active settings. This was especially unclear for Codex service tiers because Standard is omitted from the compact label and Fast is represented by a lightning bolt.
The control now shows a tooltip built from the same option descriptors as the dropdown. It reports the selected reasoning level, service tier, context window, agent, and boolean traits when they apply, while leaving the compact button layout unchanged. The same text is used as the control's accessible label.
Tests: 44 focused tests, web typecheck, targeted lint and formatting.

Low Risk
UI-only change to the traits picker trigger (tooltip + aria-label); no API or persistence changes, with behavior covered by updated unit tests.
Overview
The traits/reasoning composer control keeps its compact trigger text (including the fast-mode bolt and Codex tier omissions), but now exposes a full settings summary on hover and for assistive tech.
buildTraitsTriggerDisplayreturns a newtooltipLabelbuilt from every provider option descriptor asLabel: valuesegments (reasoning, service tier, context window, fast mode on/off, etc.), joined with·. The compactlabellogic is unchanged aside from reusing the same selected-value resolution for booleans.TraitsPickerwraps the menu trigger inTooltip, rendersTooltipPopupwhentooltipLabelis non-empty, and setsaria-labelonComposerControlto that same string. Tests assert expectedtooltipLabelvalues across Codex tiers, fast mode, ultrathink, and empty cases.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 63d8423.
