fix(web): sidebar project filter rows line up and stay still on hover - #29639
Refs: no issue. Visual fix to the sidebar's project filter rows.
What's fixed: In the sidebar's project filter, the machine icon sat on the right edge next to the pin and an always-visible gear, so the right side was busy and the pin moved between local and remote rows. Two stacked icons on the filter button showed through each other.
Now each row is: icon, name, the machine icon right after the name, then the gear (hover only) and the pin in a fixed far-right column. The pin shows at rest only on pinned projects, so rows you aren't hovering stay clean.
Selection is unchanged from main: selected projects get the small check on their icon, All projects gets it when no filter is set, and Shift-click or Shift+Enter adds or removes a project. Clicking a name picks just that project.
The second stacked icon on the filter button gets a solid backing and a cut-out edge.
On touch screens the gear sits right next to the pin (4px apart) instead of 20px away.
Evidence: web, dark, dev fixture data. build-farm is on a second connected machine.
Hovering a row. Before (main): gear on every row, machine icon on the right.
Two projects selected. Before (main): the stacked icons on the filter button blur together.
After, docs-site and build-farm selected with Shift-click, hovering mobile-app: machine icon after the name, gear only on the hovered row, pin in the far-right column.
Checked: Shift-click adds a project and keeps the popup open, clicking a name picks one and closes, row heights (all 32px), names starting at the same position. vp run check:changed passes. Not shown: touch screens.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This change aligns project-filter actions and reserves space to prevent hover-related layout shifts. Its effects are confined to presentation, with existing project actions preserved.

Project picker rows now use shared components for leading content and trailing actions. The sidebar and draft project picker use these components. The environment badge, overlapping favicons, and selected combobox item styling also change.
Project options use the shared row components for leading content and actions. The scope trigger overlaps its first two favicons, and the prior selected-icon helper is removed.
pingdotgg/t3code#25284: Adds multi-project selection to the sidebar project filter, which these project rows continue to support.
pingdotgg/t3code#26545: Changes checkbox visibility in project-filter rows, related to the selection control rendered by ProjectRowLeading.
pingdotgg/t3code#29704: Changes pin and remote badge ordering in project pickers, related to the row controls reorganized here.

A missed touch can replace the selected project filter, and the remote badge interaction lacks regression coverage. These are bounded risks to address or accept.

Explanation
The title names the change (a sidebar project filter fix) and its two visible effects, row alignment and stable hover. It fits the changeset: ProjectComboboxRow adds shared row layout, Sidebar uses it, and the filter overlap gets a backing. It uses the conventional commit form, and it is a short single sentence. It is a little long at 69 characters.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's sections in substance. Problem: the machine icon and always-visible gear crowded the right edge, the pin moved between rows, and the filter button icons overlapped. Change: a fixed row layout, hover-only gear, pin in a far-right column, and backing for the stacked icons. Verification: the author ran vp run check:changed and posted before/after screenshots, and the description notes that touch screens were not shown. Scope and approval is weak. The description cites no triaged issue or maintainer approval; it says only 'Refs: no issue' and gives no explanation of why this small visual fix qualifies without prior approval. The objectives mention a related PR, but the description does not link it. The template also asks for the model and harness used, and the author did include a Claude Code attribution. Because the scope section is missing its required justification, the description is not fully complete, but the other sections are substantive, so it passes.

reproduced on github/main (71646e031a): "all projects" was 28px while project rows were 32px. on this head all rows are 32px. selected projects use row shading, and the project name width stays 159px when the pin and gear appear.
added two real git repositories through the app. codex gpt-6.1-sol read their readmes and completed real turns. after restarting on the touch fix, a fresh turn returned "touch fix verified." a final-head turn returned "final head verified."
exercised single-project filtering, shift-click, shift+enter, search/no results, all-project reset, pin/unpin, the pin shortcut, gear settings, and right-click settings. checked light/dark rendering and coarse-pointer web layouts at 1280px and 390px.
found and fixed overlapping touch targets: a tap inside the pin button opened settings. commit 19fe69298b adds spacing only for coarse pointers. the same tap now pins the project, and pin state survived reload. the 44px hit areas are separated.
also fixed selected-highlight visibility in 0e4d5147e7: selected highlighted projects use 15% fill versus 9% for unselected highlighted projects. the selector applies only beneath a multiselectable list; single-select model rows keep their existing styling. verified shift+enter deselection and reselection.
vp run check:changed passed through blacksmith-check: format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, four existing sidebar test files, and react compiler checks. two independent source reviewers approved both scoped fixes. github checks were still running when this evidence was posted.

Make project rows 44px tall on coarse pointers.

Make project rows 44px tall on coarse pointers.
The settings and pin controls use 44px coarse-pointer targets, but the current rows are only 36px tall below sm and 32px tall at sm. Adjacent targets can therefore overlap, so a tap near one row boundary can open the next project's settings. Do not use overflow-hidden; it would clip the required target. Apply an important coarse-pointer minimum so the existing sm:min-h-7 cannot reduce the row below 44px.

Ensure each project-row ComboboxItem containing the pin and settings controls
has an important 44px minimum height on coarse pointers, so responsive
minimum-height classes cannot reduce the row below that size. Preserve overflow
so the controls remain visible.

Enlarge the touch target for toggling selection.
The badge is 14px wide, and the adjacent checkbox is only 16–18px wide. (raw.githubusercontent.com) A missed tap can select only that project and close the popup. Provide a larger toggle target with enough separation from the project name.
Based on learnings: “Flag a touch target below 44×44px” unless an accessible alternative exists.

Increase the touch target for the selection toggle associated with
toggleHandlers in ProjectComboboxRow to at least 44×44px, with enough separation
from the project name to avoid accidental row selection; preserve the existing
selection behavior.

Add a browser regression test for the remote-machine badge click.
Click the badge while another project is selected. Assert that the badge project toggles without clearing the existing selection. Assert that the popup remains open, including after toggling the badge back off. Do not use the project-name row click for the non-exclusive-selection assertion; that behavior is intentional.
AGENTS.md requires a failing test for this state change.

fix(web): sidebar project filter rows line up and select several projects without Shift
fix(web): sidebar project filter rows line up and stay still on hover

Hovering a row in the project filter popup showed the pin and moved the
machine badge, so names and icons jumped, and a check badge on the
favicon marked selection. Each row now keeps fixed slots on the right:
the pin (shown on hover, or at rest when pinned) and the machine badge,
which the settings gear covers on hover. Selected rows use the gray
row fill instead of the badge, and "All projects" matches the 32px rows.

…heckboxes
The sidebar filter and the new-thread picker now share one row layout. The
machine badge sits on the project icon's corner, so every name starts in
the same place. The right edge holds the gear on hover and the pin in the
far-right column. In the filter, a checkbox replaces the icon on hover and
stays on selected rows, so several projects can be picked without Shift.
Two stacked project icons on the filter button no longer show through.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The badge covers part of the checkbox, so a click on it picked only that
project and closed the filter. It now toggles like the checkbox.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A checked row already tells you which project it is, so the badge only
crowds the checkbox. Screen readers still hear the machine.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The corner badge covered part of the checkbox and was too small to tell
machines apart, so the filter shows the machine icon right after the name
again, hidden on checked rows. The new-thread picker goes back to main's
layout, since it no longer needs the shared corner badge.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Checked rows keep their project icon with main's small check in the
corner. The checkbox still takes the icon's place on hover, so a click
adds or removes a project without Shift.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The checkbox no longer replaces the project icon on hover, so rows don't
change on hover. The icon itself toggles the project; an empty ring at
its bottom-right shows on the highlighted row, and the check sits there
once selected.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
On touch, the icon's tap area fills the row height and the left padding
(about 36x32px instead of 24x24), and names sit 8px further right so a
near miss doesn't pick a single project and close the popup.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Selected rows stay unshaded, as on main, and All projects shows its
check again when no filter is set.

…ral projects
The project icon is main's again: a check on selected projects and
nothing on hover. Shift-click and Shift+Enter toggle a project.
