feat(mobile): see which agent thread needs you from the Live Activity - #28233
The Live Activity doesn't say which thread needs you. When one thread asks for approval just as another finishes, both rows look the same, the expanded Island just says "T3 1", and VoiceOver reads the minimal Island as an unlabeled image.
Change
The Live Activity now leads with the thread that needs you, in every presentation.
One mark per phase:› starting, ›_ working, ›? input, shield for approval, check for done, octagon for failed, clock for stale. Each one reads without color, so it works in monochrome and on Always-On.
Order: the thread that needs you comes first, then failures, then work in progress, then finished threads. Tapping opens that thread with the existing t3code://threads/… link.
VoiceOver reads a sentence, for example "Fix login redirect needs approval. 1 needs you, 1 done".
Counts come only from the payload. Only the rows the relay sent count as working, so a thread beyond the five rows is never called working. Stale threads aren't counted as working, "+N more" counts threads, and nothing shows progress or time remaining. An unknown phase falls back to the stale mark instead of crashing.
Motion: one 0.3 s swap of the mark when the phase changes, and nothing else.
Showcase: new scenes (agent-activity:handoff-*, phase-*) make this reproducible.
Scope and approval
Proposed in the Ideas discussion #28232. Maintainer approval is pending. It uses the existing payload, relay and deep links, and adds no new data.
#26261 also edits AgentActivity.tsx, so one of the two will need a rebase.
Verification
(cd apps/mobile && vp test run --project unit src/widgets src/features/showcase src/features/agent-awareness): 51 passed. Each new test fails when its behavior is removed.
vp run typecheck, vp lint and vp fmt --check pass.
iOS 27 Simulator, iPhone 17 Pro. The Island shots are frames from device recordings, because simulator screenshots leave out the Dynamic Island. The simulator can't be locked, so "Lock Screen" is the pulled-down cover sheet.

Not checked: the minimal Island (it needs a second app's Live Activity), long titles on the simulator, Reduce Motion and Always-On on the simulator, and a physical device.

workingCount reports undisplayed active threads as working even when they are waiting for approval, so the summary can claim agents are working when none are. activeCount includes threads omitted by the relay’s five-row activities limit; keep those threads separate from the working count or pass aggregate phase counts.

Fixed in ee6bd07: "working" now counts only the running or starting rows the relay sent. Threads past the five-row cap show only in "+N more", and VoiceOver reads them as "N more". New test: six approval threads with five rows read "5 need you", never "working".
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — The change makes Live Activities emphasize the thread needing attention and adds showcase scenarios for the new layouts. The unresolved aggregate-count finding remains subject to the separate correctness gate; the remaining changes are bounded presentation updates.

Walkthrough
The mobile showcase now supports named agent-activity fixtures and retains the activity scene on thread routes. Live Activity staging handles cancellation and stale rows. The AgentActivity widget presents ranked activity across its layouts, with updated status, accessibility, and deep-link behavior.

Summary
Fixture definitions and activity construction apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/showcaseAgentActivity.ts, scripts/mobile-showcase-environment.ts
The activity builder supports named fixtures and reports active, failed, or completed status. The showcase environment adds two settled threads.
Native fixture requests and activity staging apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/nativeShowcaseScene.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/ShowcaseCaptureCoordinator.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/stageShowcaseAgentActivity.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/stageShowcaseAgentActivity.test.ts
Native requests can select a fixture. The coordinator passes it to the builder and cancels replaced runs. Staging checks cancellation and sets a stale date when any row has the stale phase.
Agent-activity scene routing apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/showcaseCaptureModel.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/showcase/showcaseCaptureModel.test.ts
The agent-activity scene remains on screen for thread and review routes.
The widget presents a ranked hero thread and additional rows across its layouts. Tests cover phase marks, stale and working counts, deep links, hidden rows, and accessibility labels.
The change reworks Live Activity presentations and showcase staging. No functional defect was found in the reviewed code. The one open item is a test that polls with vi.waitFor instead of awaiting an explicit signal, which is a small cleanup. The change is mergeable with that follow-up.

requires an ios device or simulator with the native client and a reachable development backend: create real codex gpt-6.1-sol threads, leave one awaiting approval or input while another completes, then compare main and this head. check compact/minimal/expanded island and lock screen presentations, priority and counts, and tap-through to the leading thread. neighboring working/completed/failed/stale states, hidden-thread counts, voiceover, monochrome/always-on rendering and phase transitions remain unverified. relay-driven updates also remain unverified.

Minor · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win
Replace the vi.waitFor polling with a deferred signal.
Line 54 uses vi.waitFor to poll until endCalls becomes 1. The testing rules allow vi.waitFor only for browser test assertions. This is a unit test. Unit tests must await a Deferred or another explicit signal instead of polling.
The mock already controls end. Make the first end call resolve a promise, and await that promise.
As per coding guidelines: "Never wait on sleeps or polling… Browser tests assert through expect.element or vi.waitFor" and "No yieldNow or sleep polling loops. Await the Deferred, take from the Queue, or drain the worker."
