Settings → Time format was ignored by the native “Run at” input and fixed-time snooze preset fields. In an AM/PM browser, choosing 24-hour time still displayed AM/PM.

Both settings fields now use the existing Select primitive and resolveHour12 setting resolution. Explicit 12-hour, 24-hour, and System default choose the displayed hour cycle; edits keep canonical HH:MM values, including midnight and noon. Scheduling, timezone handling, and persistence are unchanged.

This is a focused obvious-bug exception: both fields ignored the same existing preference through native time inputs. No maintainer approval is claimed. This separates the time-format repair requested when #24216 was closed; it does not add reasoning controls or overlap the custom-snooze dialog changes in #23518/#22433.

Fixes #27233.

Proof: the focused browser regression failed against the native field before the fix. It checks preference changes, 17:30, noon, midnight, and 23:59 in the actual editor; vp run check:changed 50c1c5dc536493826fc66e220598f38b831d5bde --concurrency 2 passes: format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, 10 tests, and three React Compiler cases. The 18 existing scheduling logic tests also passed. Real-client Chromium verification passed against isolated state at 1280×800 and 390×844: tasks save/reopen as 17:30, 00:00, 12:00 and 23:59; weekdays remain Mon/Wed/Fri and the fixture stays disabled with zero runs. Explicit 12/24 and en-US System default display correctly. Preset minute/period edits persist as canonical 05:45 after reload. Packaged Electron, native mobile, other locales and remote transports were not independently exercised.

Field Before: 24-hour preference ignored After: preference honored
Scheduled task Native task time shows AM/PM Task time shows 17:30
Snooze preset Native preset time shows AM/PM Preset time shows 17:30

Edit/save recording · 390px web layout · Exact observations and limits.

Before captures: upstream 50c1c5dc53; after: 777bd62930. All four changed files remain byte-identical to the reviewed 259d1aed5e after rebase. Evidence contains synthetic disabled fixtures; preferences were set through existing app commands, then time edits and saves used the real UI.

Reviewed with sol-loop: 1 round with Claude Opus 5.5 on verified medium effort (user-requested reviewer override). Verdict: approved on the final diff.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 777bd62

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Settings time fields now honor the existing 12-/24-hour preference while preserving the stored time format and existing save behavior. The change is limited to user-driven time entry with no product-default or operational changes.

Walkthrough

Scheduled-task and snooze-preset settings now use a shared time input that follows the configured timestamp format. The input displays 12-hour or 24-hour selections and reports values in HH:mm form. Browser tests cover fixed-time values across format changes.

Changes: Time format-aware settings

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix(web): settings time fields honor the time format preference" matches the main change. The PR replaces the native time inputs in the scheduled-task "Run at" field and the fixed-time snooze preset fields with a TimeOfDayInput that uses the Select primitive and resolveHour12. The raw summary and objectives both confirm this focus. The title is a conventional commit with plain language and names the affected area (web settings) and the behavior fixed.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template sections and covers the problem, the change, scope and approval, and verification. The Problem and Change sections are clear. The Scope and approval section explains why the fix qualifies as a focused obvious-bug exception and names the related issues and PRs, and it states that no maintainer approval is claimed. Verification gives specific commands, test counts, viewport sizes, and before/after screenshots, and it lists what was not checked. The template asks for a model and harness note, and the description includes one. The Problem section is brief but states the expected behavior and the observed behavior with a reproduction context (AM/PM browser, 24-hour preference). Minor issues: the description does not use the template headings verbatim, and it relies on external evidence links for the screenshots.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Direct issue [#27233] requires the scheduled-task “Run at” field to follow Settings → Time format and identifies the snooze preset field as the same affected case. ScheduledTasksSettings and SnoozePresetsSettings now use TimeOfDayInput and pass timestampFormat. TimeOfDayInput uses resolveHour12 and emits canonical zero-padded HH:MM values with correct 12-hour handling for midnight and noon. The changed browser test covers format changes and fixed-time values including 17:30, noon, midnight, and 23:59.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes stay within [#27233]. The shared TimeOfDayInput supports the two affected settings fields. The flex-wrap change supports the new preset controls. The browser regression test supports the fix. The changes do not modify the separate custom-snooze dialog, scheduling logic, timezone handling, or persistence.

Move time-part sizing off SelectTrigger.

Line 77 overrides the shared trigger’s width with className. Put layout sizing on a parent and provide a suitable size or variant for the compact trigger. As per coding guidelines, “Pick a variant or size; do not restyle one with className” and “Layout classes (width, flex, margin, position) belong on the parent.”

Update the layout around SelectTrigger in TimeOfDayInput so width sizing is
applied to a parent rather than the trigger’s className; keep the trigger
compact using an appropriate size or variant.

Verified in a real dev environment

verified as-is at 51c1ec07671a8645c9ced5a56b37653a2c0e77f5 on this linux boat vm. no code changes.

  • reproduced on github/main (54c5f25249961a1aa0b61932329092eadbd9d6fc) in a separate worktree: with 24-hour selected, both native editors showed 05:30 PM for 17:30.
  • installed both checkouts with vp i and ran one background dev server at a time. drove the actual web client using the repo playwright dependency and /usr/bin/google-chrome. created the project, task, and preset through the app, without fixtures or mocks. reused that isolated state for matching captures.
  • on the exact pr head, both editors show 17:30. task save/reopen preserves 00:00, 12:00, and 23:59. 12-hour mode shows 11:59 PM, saves 12:00 AM as midnight, and saves 12:00 PM as noon. en-US system default shows 05:30 PM.
  • snooze hour/minute/period edits survive reload. the edited tomorrow preset appears as 17:45 in the real thread menu. snoozing moves the thread into snoozed; wake thread now restores it. relative presets remain available.
  • enabled a fixed-time task through the editor for 22:20 server time. it fired at 2026-10-31T22:20:00.213Z, created an automation thread, and ran codex gpt-6.1-sol. the provider turn completed at 22:20:06Z, and the client displayed SCHEDULE_TIME_OK. the task was paused afterward. websocket requests preserved canonical HH:MM values and the selected model.
  • vp run check:changed 15fe2832727893cbdd2214383f9f971474849695 --concurrency 2 passed through blacksmith-check: format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, 10 tests, and three compiler cases. the worker initially needed git history and its playwright browser installed; the rerun passed. pr status reports 29 successful checks, none pending or failing.

Not verified

packaged electron, native ios/android, macos/windows, other providers, non-en-US locales, dst transitions, and remote/relay/tunnel connections were not exercised. this verification used linux chrome, the local dev client/server, and real codex through the local proxy. video playback and seeking were checked in the t3 browser player.
