fix(web): format inline code typed with a dead-key backtick - #27457
On layouts where backtick is a dead key (e.g. macOS British-PC), typing ``, filling the pair and arrowing out leaves literal backticks. A later backtick then reuses the literal closing backtick as an opener and formats the wrong span, so typing testing `test` and `test` formats "and" as code instead of the two tests.
The inline-code input rule now skips a match whose opening backtick would close an earlier literal one, since backticks pair left to right. This stops the wrong-span formatting for any pair that is still literal.
Scope and approval
This is the bug from #19725, which was closed as a duplicate of #17098 on the basis that the wrong span goes away once the pair converts. #17435 made the pair convert for normal typing, but dead-key input still takes the old path. It's a focused fix for an obvious bug in an existing gesture.
Verification
Logged real input on macOS British-PC. The backtick arrives as key: "Dead" with insertCompositionText, and Tiptap's compositionend rule matched ` and `.
New tests in composer-rich-text-doc.test.ts cover a pair typed through composition and a literal pair followed by another backtick. Both fail without the change. composer-rich-text-doc.test.ts (241) and ComposerPromptEditorTiptap.input.browser.test.tsx (14) pass.
Manually checked in a dev build with the same layout: both pairs format as code.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This fixes inline-code formatting for dead-key backticks and prevents later backticks from formatting the wrong span. The change is confined to guarded composer interactions, with targeted tests and manual keyboard-layout verification reported.

Walkthrough
The composer now recognizes eligible backtick pairs inserted through composition. It also prevents inline-code input rules from pairing with an earlier literal backtick. Tests cover composition inserts, unmatched backticks, and later typed pairs.
The plugin recognizes eligible composed backtick insertions and uses a shared eligibility check for direct typing. Tests cover valid and unmatched composition-based pairs.
Input rules skip matching when preceding literal backticks affect pairing. Tests verify that a closing backtick from a literal pair does not open code and that a later complete pair marks only its enclosed text as code.
pingdotgg/t3code#22475: The input-rule guard addresses incorrect pairing with an earlier literal backtick; the selection-wrapping symptom is outside this change.

On layouts where backtick is a dead key (macOS British-PC, German and
others), typing `` then filling the pair never formats it as code. The
typed-pair handler ignores composing input, so the pair is never
recorded. A later backtick then reuses the literal closing backtick as an
opener and formats the wrong span, e.g. ` and ` instead of the words.
Record a pair from a composed backtick insert, and skip the inline-code
input rule when its opening backtick would close an earlier literal one,
since backticks pair left to right.
The new dead-key tests in apps/web/src/composer-rich-text-doc.test.ts build their own transactions. They call setMeta("composition", …) and insert the backtick at the caret. They never run the DOM composition path that produces these transactions in the editor. If that path stops supplying the composition metadata or the single-character insertion shape that composedCodePair requires, these tests can still pass while the pair is not recorded.
Add one case to apps/web/src/components/ComposerPromptEditorTiptap.input.browser.test.tsx. Drive a dead-key backtick through the existing compositionstart/compositionend events, then assert the formatted result. Assert the formatting outcome, not the transaction shape. Use the await using screen = await render(...) pattern and assert through expect.element or vi.waitFor.

verified the composer change as-is at cade21ea45452c20254264461bde0bd00c815078 on a disposable linux vm. no code changes or pushes.
installed and ran github/main (5fe18d79ac) in a separate worktree first, then stopped it before starting the exact pr head. used isolated empty dev state, added the real repository through the app, and created real threads. no fixtures, replay provider, or mocked server.
drove the running web app with repository playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome. entered backticks through chrome's ime composition input, filled the pair, arrowed out, and entered the next span. main left the first pair literal and reused its closing backtick for the wrong span. the pr formatted each test separately and kept and plain.
ordinary backtick pairs, continued plain text, a subsequent inline-code span, and keyboard undo/redo worked in the running composer.
submitted the composed message through the web client to real codex gpt-6.1-sol. the provider received the correct markdown and completed successfully. the persisted reply rendered after a reload; see the live-update limitation below.
remote blacksmith checks passed: 242 composer document tests, 14 existing composer browser tests, and vp run check:changed (format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, adjacent tests, react compiler). the testbox needed chromium installed and the pr parent fetched before those checks could run. existing ci reports 28 successful checks.

native electron, ios, android, windows, remote/relay, and tunnel clients were not exercised.
live reply delivery was not clean on this head with the vm's current codex/proxy: the short reply completed in provider logs but appeared in the client only after reloading. persistence and reload worked. this verification does not claim that live streaming passed, and no unrelated provider/client code was changed.

merged current main without rebasing and preserved its opening-backtick-last formatting and emphasis guards. fixed parity handling so unmatched ticks before line breaks or mention chips, and literal repeated-backtick runs, do not suppress a fresh code pair. extended existing cases; no new test files.
blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main passed format, lint, knip, affected web/scripts typechecks, 257 composer document cases, and react compiler. the 14 existing composer browser tests passed separately. the new cases failed before the helper fix. two independent read-only reviewers approved this final head.
verified the running app in chrome using real cdp ime composition: both dead-key pairs format separately, following text stays plain, line breaks and repeated ticks permit fresh code, and main's opening-backtick-last behavior still works. the clip is cropped to the composer, trimmed, and uploaded playback and seeking passed. physical macos keyboard layouts and native clients remain unverified; no provider turn was repeated in this pass. the earlier provider verification and its limitations above still apply.
