feat(web, mobile): the @ picker lists threads on linked machines - #26201
A thread on a linked machine could only be attached by dragging it from the sidebar, which has no keyboard equivalent. The @ picker listed only the composer's own environment, and a pasted thread chip from another machine was dropped or shown as unreadable. akj, a screen reader user, raised this on https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/pulls/17130.
Where the composer's environment offers linked environments (the peerLinks capability with the Linked environments beta on), threads on the machines it links to now work like local ones:
The @ picker on web and mobile also lists threads from linked machines, named "Thread on ", from the thread shells the client already has.
Paste on web and mobile, sidebar drop on web, the chip's unreadable state, and the web and mobile send guards accept a thread chip from a linked machine.
The agent gets the chip as before. It already names its environmentId, and agents pass it to t3_thread_read unprompted, so the agent's text is unchanged.
With the beta off or no link, nothing changes.

Verification
Tests: composerThreadItems.test.ts, linkRequest.test.ts, composerContextReferences.test.ts, mobile composerContextClipboard.test.ts, plus vp run check:changed.
Eval: a new guard case, linked-thread-chip-reads-there, checks that the agent reads a linked machine's thread chip there. It passes 4 of 4 on Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 with no extra instruction. An instruction telling the agent to link first made Opus ask for a link it already had (0 of 4), so it isn't added.
Attaching a thread from another environment needed a pointer drag, and a
pasted or dropped thread chip from another machine was dropped or turned
into a transcript. Where the composer's environment offers linked
environments, its linked machines' threads now stay live chips:
- The @ picker on web and mobile also lists threads from the machines the
composer's environment links to, read from the existing thread shells and
named "Thread on <machine>".
- Paste on web and mobile, sidebar drop on web, the composer chip's
unreadable state, and the web and mobile send guards accept a thread chip
from a linked machine. With the beta off or no link, nothing changes.
- The chip already names its environmentId, and agents pass it to
t3_thread_read without an extra instruction, so the agent's text is
unchanged.
- evals/mcp-tool-use can turn the beta on per case and project a case's
context chips through the real projection; a new guard case checks that
the agent reads a linked machine's thread chip there.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — The composer now offers threads from already-linked machines and preserves them as readable references. This remains behind the existing default-off beta and does not expand server permissions or establish new links.

Composer thread suggestions and context handling now include threads from linked environments. Mobile and web composers use linked-environment mappings for thread matching, imports, and context checks. MCP eval cases support linked-environment tool visibility and projected thread context.
The shared helper maps non-expired links to environment names. Mobile and web hooks load mappings when linked environments are offered.
Match threads and classify context packages/client-runtime/src/composerThreadItems.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/composerThreadItems.test.ts, packages/shared/src/composerContextReferences.ts, packages/shared/src/composerContextReferences.test.ts
Thread matching includes linked environments and labels linked results by machine name. Context checks exclude threads from the current or a linked environment.

Mobile composers pass linked-environment mappings to thread suggestions and context checks. The new-task flow exposes the mappings, and clipboard imports retain linked-environment threads.
Wire linked environments into web composers apps/web/src/components/chat/useComposerMenuItems.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/ChatComposer.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/useComposerContextImport.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/useComposerSend.ts, apps/web/src/components/composerContextPresentation.tsx, docs/user/composer.md
Web composers use linked-environment mappings for suggestions, context imports, send checks, and thread-context readability. Dropped threads from unlinked environments continue through transcript import. The composer documentation describes linked-machine thread references.
Support linked environments in MCP evals evals/mcp-tool-use/run.ts, evals/mcp-tool-use/run.test.ts, evals/mcp-tool-use/cases/orchestration.ndjson
Eval cases can enable linked-environment tools and project prompt context records. Tests and an orchestration case cover tool visibility and linked thread reads.

Search linked environments before matching their threads.
When a linked machine omits older settled threads from its shells, Line 306 searches only environmentId. The new matcher cannot offer those threads in the mobile @ picker because the search never mounts their rows. Include the linked environment IDs in useThreadSearch. The web menu has the same search scope and needs the equivalent change. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Search linked environments for older thread titles.
When a linked machine leaves older settled threads out of its mounted shells, matchComposerThreadItems cannot find those threads. The nearby useThreadSearch call searches only [environmentId], so typing an older linked thread’s title never mounts it for this matcher. Include the linked environment IDs in that search while the path trigger is active. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Search linked environments for older thread suggestions.
When a linked machine leaves older settled threads out of its shell stream, this filter cannot offer those threads. The web and mobile composer menus call useThreadSearch with only the current environmentId, so neither menu mounts older matching shells from linked machines. Pass the linked environment IDs to both searches before matching shells. Otherwise, users cannot select those linked threads through the @ picker. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
