Cursor SDK 1.0.35 reads grouped grep results as flat entries, losing match text, line numbers, context, and totalMatchedLines. The installed converter emits line: undefined, which its exported update schema rejects and which leaves T3's file-search preview without text.
Change
Flatten grouped matches in the pinned SDK's CJS converter, attach adjacent context lines, and preserve reported totals. Keep support for flat results. The regression uses the installed converter and the SDK's public update schema, then checks the Cursor adapter's emitted file-search results.
The dependency patch changes only dist/cjs/689.js. vp run patch:cursor-grep generates or verifies it against pinned original/patched SHA-256 hashes, so the minified patch has a readable source and a repeatable integrity check.
Scope and approval
This is a focused fix for an obvious data-conversion bug in existing grep output. It uses the small bug-fix exception in the contribution guide. The linked issue has not been maintainer-triaged, and no maintainer approval is claimed. Checkpoint and worker changes are excluded.
Verification
Based on upstream main 5b35402623d7d1d88eaa472807272a6c2e78012a, with Node 26.12.1 on Ubuntu 24.04 under WSL.
Before the patch: 19 of 22 adapter tests pass. Grouped match preservation, truncated totals, and the adapter search test fail on missing text or totals.
After the patch: all 22 pass. The four converter cases include legacy flat results and continued rejection of invalid text and call IDs.
The package install applies the patch, and the generator's verify command confirms the installed CJS file's checksum.
Changed-file format and lint pass. Provider and script package type checks pass. The aggregate check also passes tests, format, lint, both knip passes, and unused-patch validation. Its full-workspace typecheck cannot launch the local compiler (Device or resource busy), including with serial launches; that aggregate check is not claimed as passing.
Focused reproduction command, from packages/provider-cursor:
vp test run --config ../../vite.config.ts --dir . src/server/adapter.test.ts --maxWorkers 4
The checks ran through the isolated port-env.py --test launcher. No fresh authenticated Cursor turn was tested.
Implementation: GPT-6.1 Sol in the Codex harness, coordinated by Claude Opus 5.5 in T3 Code.

The change patches Cursor SDK 1.0.35 to convert grouped grep results with match text, line numbers, adjacent context, and reported totals. Adapter tests cover grouped and legacy results, schema validation, and file-search previews.
The script generates or verifies a pinned patch for the SDK converter. The patch flattens grouped matches, includes adjacent context, and prefers totalMatchedLines over totalMatches. The workspace applies the patch to @cursor/sdk 1.0.35.
Search results can show unrelated lines as match context. The issue is bounded, but the context walks should be corrected before merging if accurate previews are required.

Explanation
Issue #24919 requires grouped and flat grep normalization at the SDK conversion boundary. The dependency patch flattens grouped matches, preserves file, text, line number, adjacent context, and native totals, and retains flat-result support. The tests use the installed converter and public update schema. They verify grouped results, totals greater than returned matches, legacy flat results, malformed text rejection, invalid call ID rejection, and adapter search output. The reported focused test run passes all 22 tests.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed dependency file, package script, workspace patch registration, patch generator, and adapter tests directly support the grep conversion fix in issue #24919. The generator provides reproducible hash validation for the pinned dependency patch. The summary identifies no unrelated checkpoint, worker, or product changes.

Stop context walks at gaps in line numbers.
If one file group contains distant matches, this loop can attach context from one match region to another. For example, entries at lines 10, 11, 99, and 100 attach line 99 as context for the match at line 10. Check consecutive lineNumber values in both context walks, and add a fixture with two distant matches in one file group.
